The following is taken from the official site:
4Kids Entertainment issued the following press release regarding season five of the TMNT cartoon:
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - Fast Forward catapults Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello and Raphael 99 years into the future where they emerge from the sewers and no longer have to hid. The year is 2105 and the action heroes sport a whole new look as they face amazing adventures and square off against foes in an exciting world of cutting-edge technology.
4Kids Entertainment will support the series with an extensive licensing and marketing campaign to launch in July 2006 with a new toy line, featuring a full spectrum of toys including action figures and role playing products from master toy licensee Playmates Toys.
"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - Fast Forward promises more fun and exciting journeys from our favorite ninja characters," said Alfred R. Kahn, Chairman and CEO of 4Kids Entertainment. "The evolution of the Turtles moving out of the sewers and living among humans is a story arc that provides the right combination of intrigue and comedic material to capture a wider television audience and extend the brand. We believe our fresh approach to this successful series will continue to entertain the legions of Turtles fans as well as appeal to new viewers of 4Kids TV."

I hope they are not 99 years older I mean they wont be as athletic...
I guess the story would be like in vol 4 of the current comic , after the utroms came to earth or something like that....
I honestly don't know what to think of it just yet....

That's a good sign, I think, that this is just an arc, or maybe a season, and not a totally new direction for the whole series.

Lol, I Doubt They'll Be 99 Years Old.
Yeah, I Dont Know What To Think. It Seems Pretty Drastic. I Wonder If This Was Lairds Idea. This Will Also Mean A Whole New Cast Of Bad Guys.
Hmmm, Turtles And Time Travel....i Dont Know. I'm Not A Huge Time Travel To The Future Fan.
Hey, The Turtles Never Fail. All I Need To Know Is That Laird Is Still Involved. I'm Pretty Sure They'll Satisfy.

So looks like this will be somewhat based on Volume 4 of the comics. I wonder if the Styracticons(I hope I spelled that right), will appear.
And do you guys think Bishop will still be around. That guy might be imortal or something.

Wow, I actually think that this sounds really cool. I know everyone is going to bitch and moan about this, but if it does badly, then they will certainly change it back. They are going to change it back anyways for season six it seems, because they said that it is a story arc. The fact that they are taking an entire season to tell one story arc (with smaller arcs inside of it I imagine) is the main reason why I think that this will be pretty cool. This story will be very extensive, and hopefully very detailed as well, because they have so much time and space to tell it in. Also, it says the turtles will be getting new costumes or something of the like. While this could be pretty potentially crappy, it could also be pretty kickass. Also, a completely new set of characters, and villians, which should be pretty cool. I am very interested in this, and I can't wait to see how it turns out.

If it's being set 99 years into the future, Any chance we'll see future decendants of April and Casey? Since on the series, They were becoming somewhat of an item, So it would make sense if the decendants are decendants of there own children. Which I would assume would have the last name Jones.

So are the teen turtles sent into the future or do we simply get a glimpse of the future turtles? The former could be cool, the latter sounds kind of lame. Would be weird to just switch the focus to a whole different set of turtles.
Either way, assuming this is just a temporary thing, it could be very interesting.

Fast Foward was announced several months ago on the official site with a list of the action figures coming out with the line (the Dark turtles and Future Turtles). In the description of Fast Forward it mentions they team up with Casey and April's great grandson, Cody Jones.
This is from the official TMNT site:
TMNT: "Fast Forward" - The Turtles are accidentally thrust 99 years into the future where Manhattan Island is a settling point for numerous alien species from all over the galaxy. When the TMNT find themselves thrust into a "dark" future, they must team up with Cody Jones, descendant of the Turtles’ former ally.
Fall action figure releases:
Future Mike, Raph, Leo, Don and Splinter
Dark Mike, Raph, Leo and Don
Serling
I have no idea who Serling is. Perhaps he's somebody they meet in the future?
And supposadly there's also an article from Peter Laird somewhere which states that the turtles will also be training some kids.

Oh crud... Flippin bull crud... this doesn't sound good at all. They're doing an entire revamp of the series, by the sounds of it -- and it seems like the motives are: Laird wants more sci-fi, we need cooler toys, and we need a "new audience." *blinks* What audience has the series not been reaching? Sub-10 year olds, that's who. Money. They just want to make more money. And Larid wants to get out his nano-bot alien ya-yas.
The show is probably too serious, to dark, too violent for little ones. It's always been kind of in-between -- not mature enough for every adult to enjoy, not dumb enough for 7 year olds to drool in front of. I had always hoped the series would grow more mature over the seasons, not less. If the humor was bad, it's because jokes were corny. They could make the jokes a little smarter, not dumber. Just don't fix what ain't broke.:x
But... I guess that's the world of children's entertainment. Look at Loonatics Unleashed for your example of bastardization of a classic franchise.
Maybe they know what they're doing. Maybe this won't be so bad.
I'll keep telling myself that until I see the new season...

That makes the target auidence Teenagers and that's exactly who watches it. Atleast in my area, kids only seem to play with the toys. But I don't go to middle school so I don't know what they do, think, or like. I do however have a little cousin but he's a horrible example of how kids act. He's afraid to watch things with any violence in them -_- But he will play with the toys.

You guys seem to always forget Laird saying he doesn't want anything from the old show in the new seires. Anything he has currently added are jokes mocking the old show, or refrences. He didn't care for the old show so any hopes of anything from the old show being in the new seires are hopeless. The cloest you will ever get to Krang is "Secert Orgins Part 3"

I don't know why people are complaining so much about this. I don't think it's all that bad of an idea. However, I assume that the same thing that sends the turtles back in time (Paleo series) will be the same thing sending them forward in time.
I'll bet money that after the "Prodgial Son..." episode, Karai will do something to send the turtles back in time. This is where they're going to do battle with Savanti Romero (again) and after they defeat him, or they lose, they will be sent away into their future. The beginning of this Fast Forward thing will be the end of this season, since it's already been said it will take up most of next season. (Kinda like how they did the first 5 eps of season two "Turtles in Space" after leaving the clincher at the end of season 1 them being teleported out of the galaxy.)

I don't know why people are so worried, Laird and the crew are smart people, they know what theyr'e doing. They wouldn't mess up the best elements of TMNT (action, humor, and sci-fi). Besides, this new story arc sounds like it'll be more darker than the previous(maybe it'll blow SAINW out of the water.

In my opinion "I'Monster" already blew "Same As It Never Was" out of the water. Anyways I adgree with ShowStoppa. Anyone read "Masks"? I assume a story arc similar to that will be how the TMNT get zapped into the future.

Stop putting words in his mouth, he DOES care about the original series, it did after all put his and Kevins' franchise on the map, as for the references being exclusive only to the Krang cameo, are you BLIND or something? Gen as Rocksteady was the most recent joke reference, heck Shredder as a Utrom is the most in-denial use of a badass Krang I've ever seen in the show.

My first impressions:
What, no Splinter?! Or is he just not mentioned because it's just PR?
I don't think that "cutting edge technology" sounds exciting at all. Never have, even when I was "target audience" material (less than 12 years old). But maybe that's just me. I'm a girl.
Living above ground could be fun, although part of the good-guy mystique of the turtles is their willingness to help a society that would reject them.
So, um, are they gonna like, finally get off their lazy ninja butts and get jobs?
A "new look" cook be fun. Play dress up, but please don't mess with their weapons.
Extensive marketing! Hurray? *scratches head*
Good news: it says "story arc" so maybe it will be easy for them to go back, especially if things aren't working out. Bad news: the person who said "story arc" was a business CEO, and business CEOs tend to like using buzz words like "story arc" even if they don't apply them properly.
That last couple lines read like, "this show's a big success, but it's just not commercial enough!" But hopefully that's just because a business CEO said it. I'd really like to see Laird say something about this; I seriously doubt he'd give the same justification for the change.
So basically, we don't know much more than we did before. The way this is written, I don't like it, but that's probably just because it's PR. I'm very fussy about PR. But I think TPTB have been churning out some good stories, so I expect something fun. And I expect Raphael to wear shades and flaunt his skillz like a rock star.

Then they need to find their way back and prevent Karai Shredder get her hands on a sports almanac.

I seriously doubt making Shredder an Utrom was a some kind of sub concious use of Krang in this show. Making Shredder an Utrom was just a way to give him more backstory since in the comics he was killed in the first issue.

I'm curious about another thing, Since this will be dealing with Time Travel in such a way, I think the world would be affected after the Turtles were teleported thru time, From a scientific standpoint, Anyone who travels into the future via some Time Travel method, They would be declared missing in the present day and thru out the years until the future when they arrived, Therefore, The Turtles would have been missing for 100 years. So they would arrive 100 years into the future and see how the world is like when they been gone for 100 years, Theres no telling what it might look like if the Turtles weren't around to stop the Foot Clan and any other Badguys durring the present time and the years after that. In other words. There might have been a catastrophic event that the Turtles could've prevent have they been in the present times.
TigerClaw, that seems like a probable plot device.

Uhh no offense, but Gennosuke was already an official Usagi Yojinbo comic character, for all we know, he coulda been created before Rocksteady.
I kinda hope the series doesn't end like this... They better not pull a '90's Spiderman' and just end the last episode with the TMNT jumping into a portal to return to their own time period.

*cough*Jumpingtheshark*cough* I dunno... if it's not broke, why try and fix it? I'm really iffy on this. I don't like the idea of them in the open at ALL. I don't like the 'new look' thing. And I really dislike them bringing in Cody Jones. Seems too much like Carter from the Old Toon to me. Blah.
I hope it goes well, and they don't totally ruin the series by trying something like this.
I dunno, Jo Dawn. I guess I'm gonna wait 'til I see the shark. Or at least Donnie on hoverskis. :)
I'm not sure I understand yet anyway. Is that "comedic material" meant to balance a darker change in tone, or are they just going for something lighter altogether? (And do these corporate types really even know what they're talking about?) The stories have been going a bit dark already, so it stands to reason that they could go a bit lighter without losing sight of the characters.
This idea has the potential to tank, but it also has great potential to be pretty cool. Maybe it's the beaten-down optimist in me, but I
cannot easily picture this show losing its grip. I have some faith in the writers. :trolleye:
Switching direction slightly...
This is probably obvious to everyone but me, but why would placing the turtles among humans make the show appeal to a wider audience? I feel like that's something that would only amuse people who are already turtle fans.

I mean, I'll wait to see, because the writers HAVE been awesome so far. I just feel like this is just something that didn't NEED to be done. I love Science and Scince Fiction... but things were going well as is. They didn't need a huge storyline like this.
Plus, I fear this is gonna be like that Awful Pheonix Saga the X-Men cartoon had. And what if it bombs? They HAVE to finish the arc. I'm just afraid that if it bombs, it'll kill the whole thing.
I suppose I'm just wary.

Yeah, like the fact that they're ninjas. Ninjas. As in martial arts. Ninjas. As in stealth. Stealth + mutant freaks = ought to do no more sneaking/hiding from a society that would be hurting them but at the same time saving those people. That gives them a more heroic foundation, and sneaking is cool. Take that away and... they're just not as interesting.
BUT, who knows. Lloyd Goldfine may be able to spin this into -- something -- really good. I'd love to be proven wrong because I love this show.

I would have to disagree. While the ninja aspect makes them more appealing, let's not forget their also teenagers. Theyr'e not cold ruthless assassins like the Foot, and I never really saw them as vigilanties that dedicate themselved to protecting the weak like Batman and Green Arrow. To me their just like regular people, who happen to know ninjitsu. I would really love to see them try to adapt to life above ground.

I meant to say that their "having to hide from society and do their stealthy sneaking disappear into the shadows thing" gives them a more interesting edge -- they may have every reason to loathe people... no reason to help humans, yet they do... And they don't go looking for trouble to correct, but trouble finds them and they end up being heroes anyway.
They are regular teens -- who live in the sewers and are mutated turtles. And since when does sneaking connote ruthlessness? I find it pretty cool.

Do y'all suppose, taking the inverse of this equation, that the turtles might feel something other than a continued generous spirit toward the formerly verboten human world? Will they still be heroes there?

I'm actually looking forward to this idea! It's pretty interesting. I always wanted to see the Turtles being able to relax in an open environment, just to see their interacting skills with other humans, though I'd rather see them do it with the humans of THEIR time and not the future. Plus, who knows what action the Turtles will get into in the future? Fights in the future surely would be different for the Turtles, assuming technology has become advanced. The Turtles can still keep their ninja aspect, seeing as they will have to figure out how to fight something new with their strategies. I wonder who'll be the main enemy in this season!

Funny how when the show first started with the very first episode, everyone is all "Yeah, change is good!" Then when they actually decide to try something new, everyone starts complaining about it. I for one am looking forward to this.
I seriously doubt the turtles will time travel because if they're not there, how could they live above ground in the first place? There's going to be a huge gap in those 99 years. I don't think one turtle will time travel either cause I'm sure they want to focus on all 4 of them. Lastly, turtles can live for a very long time. I'm sure 99 years into the future and the turtles are still considered adults.

Iris and Put? Its just because I remember reading an interview a while back from Laird when the new turtles was starting. He said at the most it will go up to 5 seasons. In the old school series people I remember people losing interest after a while and i'm still surprised it made up to 10 seasons.

That's a good point. However, this seems to be a much larger change. I do wonder if "losing" the old series has made some of us trepidacious.

I just think that people should be more open minded about things. Granted, I cannot guarantee this new direction will be great, but at the same time, I feel there's no need to worry because it's by the same people who's giving us this awesome show that we worship. To be honest, if they plan on getting rid of the current team of writers and animators for the new stories, I myself would be pissed off. But they're not, they're still the same team of people.
I like bold new directions. I personally do feel that keeping the turtles the same way without evolving them could get boring. It's nice to throw a curve ball every now and then, and I certainly wouldn't mind an entire season in a bold new direction.

This is what scares me the most; "The lighter and funnier-than-ever series, “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Fast Forward” is set to bow 26 stand alone episodes in September 2006 on 4KidsTV™, 4Kids Entertainment’s Saturday morning programming block on Fox and on the Cartoon Network. Playmates toy line will arrive on shelves in July."

Action Figures.com has more info. Apperantly Cody Jones is a time traveler and it's he who takes the turtles to the future for some odd reason. :ohwell:
http://www.action-figure.com/index.php?name=News&file=article&sid=19011
This fall, get ready to fast-forward 99 years and meet the Turtles of the future with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Fast Forward. Brought to the future by Cody Jones, the grandson of Casey Jones and April O’Neil, Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello and Raphael are forced to adapt to a whole new world – without their home, junk food or Shredder. On the show and on the shelf, the fearless foursome will be sporting a new futuristic look, carrying new weapons and using new vehicles and communication devices to help them fight new evil villains.
Raph's Girl note: Is the future bleak because there's no Junk food???
Here's the figure line:
# 16 new basic figures feature new color identification, futuristic weapons and a wrist gauntlet. For the first time, these figures are scaled to true Turtle size.
Figures include all four turtles, three new friends (Splinter, Cody and Serling) and nine new villains (Sh’okanabo, Jammerhead, Torbin Zixx, Inuwashi Gunjin, Viral and four Dark Turtles).
Raph's Girl note: Now...is this new Splinter a rat as well?? Splinter Jr?? At least there'll be a Cody figure...gotta get a Splinter Jr figure too...wonder what Cody looks like.
Now for the villians: Jammerhead... oh my god..that has GOT to be the shark. :o A Hammerhead shark villian. Yay. 4 evil turtles? Lemme guess... 2 of them are named Slash and Tokka?
Triple Strike Figures
For the first time ever, Raphael, Michelangelo, Leonardo and Donatello can throw their weapons with rapid-fire action when their legs are squeezed together.
Each figure comes with three weapons and three retractable villain targets.
Raph's Girl note: Who thought these figs up?
New Vehicles:
Figure/Vehicle Combos
* Big Wheel
o This iconic vehicle from the show also comes with either a Leonardo or Michelangelo action figure.
o The outer and inner wheels spin independently of one another and can fire two projectile missiles.
o Suggested retail price is $14.99.
* Shell Speeder
o As seen in the series, this cool vehicle transforms from cycle to hover mode and also fires two projectile missiles.
o Comes with either a Donatello or Raphael detachable figure and retails for $14.99.
* Hyper Shell
o Large in scope, all four turtles can fit into this vehicle that is an icon on the new show.
o Two firing projectiles, the “pop-up” turret and gun can be activated at the press of a button.
o Suggested retail price is $19.99.
* Hover HQ
o This battle-station playset features include: stand alone flying and rolling battleship, missile launcher on top of the tower that shoots three different projectiles and a barrel “booby trap.”
o Combines with the Hyper Shell to form the Hover Shell – the ultimate Turtle vehicle used on “Fast Forward.”
o Suggested retail price is $39.99.

No.. our turtles will be keeping their colors. But remember there's 4 new turtles, the Dark Turtles.
They need colors of their own so we can tell them apart from the originals. Sure kids will be confused that there's now 8 mutant turtles. But hey...now kids can say how much they like the Pink masked one or the black masked one or yellow or whatever.
IMO these 4 Dark Turtles and Other Splinter (who's a good guy apperantly) are products of Bishop. Clones of the originals. Unless somewhere down the road more turtles and another rat are mutated. :P
It would be funny if one of the dark turtles was a female.

Hm, maybe the Dark turtles will have the same bandanna colors as the originals, or maybe no bandannas at all? I think that the skin color will be a lot darker than the original turtles and that's how they will differ.

You may be right... It's just... the signs, the patterns... It's the sad reality of the children's TV animation industry, and I feel like our show is its next victim.
And wait... didn't Laird say, like with his comic book, that the decisions he makes he does mostly for his own satisfaction (kinda like old Georgie and Star Wars)?:ohwell:

The lighter and funnier-than-ever series, “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Fast Forward”
NoooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
I hate 'lighter and funnier'. What made this series cool was it's darker undertones. Besides, you'd think it'd go DARKER when they went to the future. Maybe more humbling and experience for them.
The only hope I had for this apparent WHOLE SEASON arc (*cough Horrible-XMen-Pheonix-Saga-WASTE-of-a-season*cough*) was the darkness factor. Now it's gonna be light and funny? And I will not even go INTO 'Cody Jones'.
Ugh.
Face it folks, unless a miracle of animation happens, they just screwed us over.
*weeps miserably*
My reaction exactly, along with a bunch of bitterness and sadness for the show that I used to really love. Let me join you.
EDIT - And so HELP me if one of those new turtles are a female. I hate that PC crap. I won't watch it. They'l be taking away the last thing that makes them THEM (after making them go above ground and all that).

Dude, I used to be optimistic about Fast Foward like you are. Until I saw the words "light and funnier-that-ever" and "26 stand alone episodes". That's when I knew, it's destined for jumping. Fast Foward is gonna ruin everything great about the show. I honestly can't believe Laird would allow this travesty.

Okay, it just dawned on my, I pretty much now see the reason the TMNT are going into the future. And the more I think about it. Maybe FF wont be THAT bad. I think they're about to do something similar to JLU. Theyr'e taking a breather on the complex stories and dark tones in favor for something lighter. But hopefully(if there's a season six) it will go right back to the dark TMNT we all know and love.

This seems to be something that people are interpreting differently:
"26 standalone episodes."
I don't think they're dumb enough to give us a whole season of pure oneshots... I think they just mean the season will stand on its own, not relying on any particular continuity to give it a backstory. At least, I hope so with every fiber of my being...
I'm still scared for my Turtles. When this comes, I'll watch it. If it's bad, I'll keep watching it for as long as I have strength. I want it to last long enough to get back to normal, at least.
*joins Fledermaus' weeping club*
I really don't think they could do that many completely standalone episodes. It must just mean that you don't need to know massive amounts of backstory to understand what's going on. Personally, I prefer puzzling out what's going on in a tapestry of complex storylines, but hey I'm a peculiar girl.

i dunno. laird has been talking up the "new direction" but that description sounds pretty lame. if they really do use it as a way to do the volume four story line, that could be awesome, but could also just be an extremely dumbed down version of it that will be lame. the way laird talks about it, though, i have to believe that it will be done right…

i doubt it will be very different, considering it's still all the same people working on the show, just new designs for vehicles and settings (and maybe the turtles?) etc. I imagine the lighter tone will just mean they deal more with a weekly adventure rather then a season spanning storyline...maybe some more jokes thrown in. It will not be better or worse then the show currently is. I'm interested to see what Cody's deal is, like is he an idiot like Casey? Does he know about all the stuff Casey/April and the turtles did? I've heard the turtles can walk around now like normal people because of aliens or something, do they need like a concealed weapons licence or are the laws 100 years from now that lax where someone can just walk around with katanas strapped to their back? I guess we'll see. Anyway, i'm not worried.

You know, there's a lot of potential in there. I mean, the TMNT won't have too bad of a life in the future it seems, and here, their lives are totally screwed up and they're under attack by everybody all the time. I can imagine that especially Mikey will suffer from the switch back to "Sewer Life". Up to now, he can't really complain, because he doesn't know what "Surface Life" is like, but he'll get a good taste of it in FF.
But then again, Don's aftermath from SAINW is long overdue... so they might miss this oportunity.

Am I the only one that noticed that the description says the show will also be on Cartoon Network? And here I thought the 6AM weekend slot was where TMNT would die on CN. Good to hear that isn't the case. Maybe they'll air it simultaneously with 4kidsTV either on CN's Saturday morning block or on Toonami on Saturday nights. I don't think they'd air it more than once a week if it's launching in September on both since it's only 26 episodes... but perhaps this means we'll see TMNT come back to watchable time earlier this year before Fast Forwards starts. They really should put it back on Miguzi. Now that I have Dish Network I can watch Miguzi 1PM-3PM before work if I want so I'm hurt'n for some daily turtle power.
And the whole "lighter and funnier-than-ever" thing has me worried for sure...
But it sounds like this is actually the end of TMNT 2003 and this new series is just that, a new series. Much like the difference between JL and JLU only... yeah bad example since JLU rocks.

I was wondering, who said that the "Lighter and Funnier than ever" line? Somebody offical or just a PR guy? Cuz I was thinking that maybe its just a PR gimmick made by a guy whose impression of the turtles is the old toon, and has never seen the show at all?

hmm… with how far ahead laird said they're working, maybe this will air daily on cartoon network and end even sooner. that prolly doesn't really make any sense, but reading this, seeing them go back to normal after this whole thing is over seems like it could be really cool and i'm gonna hope that the daily thing with another season starting less than a year later is gonna happen.

It's either that or I've watched WAAAY too much of that Kim Possible movie where she's taken to a bleak future by a descendent of the mole rat. :P
My thoughts exactly. But really, I think that would be too depressing for TPTB to do much with.
Mwuhaha. Another PR conspiracy theorist! ;)
The other description also said it would be "lighter". However the newer one does say "than ever" as if this show doesn't currently generate high body counts.

I want it to last long enough to get back to normal, at least.

and now for something completely relevent: a quote from 4kidsentertainment.com
"2006 brings Big Turtles changes ... The Turtles will "Fast Forward" in time! Season 5 of the 4Kids and Mirage Licensing produced TMNT TV series will be titled Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Fast Forward - and will debut on 4Kids TV in September 2006 ... The 26 all-new episodes will feature a new look and attitude, more irreverent humor and a futuristic story and feel."
Irreverent humor....maybe we can handle this...maybe.

Umm.. sorry if I misread anything... but I just wanted to throw in my two-bits..
first, I'm not too enthuastic about the jump forward, but I'm glad its only a one-season thing, and I think this season will build up to that. I also don't think laird would screw his fans over, or cause the show to jump the shark, but I could be wrong...
It looks like there's a jump backwards first. (Assuming those Dinosaur things are in the past) Maybe they attempt to return to the present day from that, but endup in the future ...

02-13-2006, 12:59 PM
But it sounds like this is actually the end of TMNT 2003 and this new series is just that, a new series.
Nope, NOT the case, Ninja Tiptup. I e-mailed Dan Berger Saturday about the whole "new, separate TMNT series" thing, and this was his answer in the e-mail that I got today (the 13th), and I quote:
"Nope. The future Turtles storyline is part of the current series. There will NOT be two different TMNT toons on the air". End quote.
So there you have it.
Oh, and when I replied to Dan, I point-blank ASKED him about Season Six. I'll keep you all posted on what he tells me. Promise.
Myself, I think y'all need to chill and quit being worry-worts about the show's future. Al Kahn (the chairman/CEO of 4Kids Entertainment) said in an interview with brandweek.com last October that the TMNT are, in his words, "an iconic thing", and that they were making plans to see that the show stays on for a VERY long time, and since he would know, I'm gonna trust him on this one.
Oh, and if anyone wants to know ALL of what he said in that interview, I'll post it here, if y'all want me to.
But anyway, just RELAX, you guys. The TMNT are gonna be around for awhile. I feel it in me bones.;) :D
Peace.

I had a thought about why the turtles are taken 99 years into the future as I read the New TMNT intro thread. Now I only caught parts of the last two episodes and Teletoon won't be showing this season until September most likely.
Maybe they were brought to the future because the Utrom that was orignally Shredder found a way back to earth and since he said he had his supporters, that he's a lot stronger then he was back when the Turtles defeated him.
Since they were the ones who defeated him the first time, they would have to do it again in their future as well.

*sigh* Why did someone need to e-mail Dan about it? It was stated before, it is a STORYLINE that is going to take up most of the 5th season. At the end of this season, they will make the jump and it will leave us in the wake waiting for September again, just like they did when the turtles went into space.
Everyone needs to calm down the the thoughts of the show being cancelled right away too. This does not mean they are going to cancel the show, they're just taking it into another direction for the time being. Also, why the hell would they want to cancel a show THE YEAR a major motion picture would come out? Anyone? Didn't think anyone else knew.

Yeah, I really agree with you! I do see a lot of potential in this season. There could be some great ideas, some things we never thought we'd see (like the Turtles walking among humans in the streets), I really can't wait to see how this season's environment looks. I'm still ecstatic about the new season, I just don't look forward to the whole "lighter" and "funnier-than-ever" attitude that the show is going to take. But who knows, perhaps they won't take this attitude to an extreme. As long as this new attitude isn't so excessively attempted... I'll be fine.

Also, why the hell would they want to cancel a show THE YEAR a major motion picture would come out? Anyone?
A better question would be... Why would they seriously screw with a formula that worked enough that they were ABLE to make a movie out of it... and thereby possibly turning people off of the show the year a major motion picture comes out?
EDIT - And I still hate Cody Jones.

I don't think the movie will be based much on the current show, but more on parts of the first comics. This show is separate from the movie. This new movie was planned for awhile, probably before the new show premiered 3 years ago, or at least soon after. So with the Fast Forward theme airing, it will not make a difference.

Wow, I have not logged on or posted here in a long time, but I felt the need to add my two cents.
Did anyone here watch Angel? If you don't know, Angel's formula changed a bit in the 5th season. With Buffy ending, and some new audience members transitioning over to get their Buffyverse fix, the episodes became more stand-alone and focused a bit more on the comedy aspects at times. This was in stark contrast to the preview two seasons which were pretty much one long storyline.
TMNT has been moving in the same direction. 4 seasons of plot have now built on each other, and new comers may not be able to follow the show as easily. Having a different fifth season will be a great way to get new watchers in, and also give our beloved green team a break! They have really been through the ringer in the past two seasons. I think they deserve to have some light hearted and fun adventures in the future. It also gives my emotional system a rest, because I am extremely attached to what happens to Leo. Hopefully the sixth season will start with a new story arc that will carry on for a number of seasons.
So, that is my two cents. Time to go back to lurk mode. Later!

Though I still have some reservations, I'm still gonna sit back and see how this all plays out...on a side note: anyone else think to plug Gamera Don into this equation...oviously he's only gonna change for a short time, at least by the start of season 5. Just a littel side note.

why is every one up in arms over this? It sounds like it might be actually cool. Now I to have my doubts and anxieties. But I like the way the writters have handled this show so far, so I'm going to put my faith in them. If this "new direction" is anything like the new direction, that the show Gargoyals took with the whole "Avolan, and Oberons children" arc of the story, than I think that I would greatly enjoy it, it was just awsome. If it is handled properly I think we may be in for a real treat. I think every ones problem is that they are anticipating this event and have thus worked them selves into a dither. I say, just sit back and enjoy the ride people!
I'm going to stay optimistict till I'm slapped with proof that this is going to suck.

People ALREADY think the show's gonna "suck"? That's really premature considering the new shows in question haven't aired yet. Come on, guys, have faith. A show gets cancelled when the fans give up on it.
I'm contractually obligated not to give anything away, but I can say that none of us turtles have changed our performances of the characters. Certain things have changed in the format of the show, but it's by no means goofy or "lighter than ever". They're trying to find a healthy balance so the show will appeal to a broader demographic, which may account for why there has been the use of that tag line. It's not too dark, not too light. Not too tart, not too sweet.
You have to give change a chance. Trust me, I'd tell you straight up if I thought the new format sucked.

I wonder if the reason other people who are a part of the show don't post here on the drome, is because we allways seem so pesimistic. Yeah, I do still have some reservations, changing to "broaden the fan base" kinda scares me, but hey the classic Loony Tunes has a large fan base and it's funny to all ages for different reasons, there are jokes for kids, but it doesn't forget the adults. Maybe the new TMNT will do this...who knows. And if it doesn't maybe it's a way of saying that there are other TMNT mediums out there, but the show is ment "4Kids."

Yeah, it did, but they suffered from bland animation, or in some cases, blander characters. (Mystique in particular), and had a finale that made no sense whatsoever

Not really, in the Power Rangers fanbase, long time executive producer Doug Sloan (who had returned to the series for its' eleventh and twelth seasons), interacted with the fandom and even attacked people who criticised his episodes with no real reason or objective view, where as his successor attacked his critics through an interview, refusing to interact himself, and refusing to hear the constructive judgments.

Gray Wayne's comments make me a little less doubtful about this season. I guess my hopes still aren't in vain, that the "lighter and funnier than ever" comment was merely used to attract more kids, rather than actually be a description of the new season.
I'm not too doubtful, we have yet to even see it. There's been so much doubt about every season, besides the first two, so far, and we've seen some great episodes from them! And I don't see cancellation coming any time soon, especially considering there's a new movie coming out!

The one thing I loved about the Turtles were the many different adventures they got themselves into, the crazy predicaments that they've walked into and found a way to get out of it. This "walking on the streets in time travel" concept is so new for the Turtles. This experience won't change who the Turtles are, if anything, we'll get to see even more of how the Turtles are. We'll see how they adapt to walking among humans, their social skills. And most of all, we'll get to see how the Turtles escape this predicament as well (c'mon, we all know they will). How will they use their new environment to their advantage? I love how the Turtles truly are "masters of their environment".

Ok the dark turtles:
Dark Don looks like a cross between Leatherhead and a turtle (aligator snapping turtle?)
Dark Leo looks like a cross between a turtle and a frog
Dark Mike looks like a cross between a turtle and a fish (fish head!)
Dark Raph looks like an Ankylosaur.
Serling looks like Earthworm Jim. Seriously...is he a "descendent" of Fugitoid or something?
Cody looks Asian now. Not that there's anything wrong with that but this new angle of the figure you can definatly see his asian features (his eyes). So one of his parents was Japanese (his mom?)

The post youre looking at is of the Voice of Michelangelo himself, the Honorable Wayne Gray(son).
Thanks for posting that, Machi. That backs my suspicion that all this emphasis on a "light and fun" direction is the voice of the bland PR machine. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but as with most promo, it needs a grain of salt. There's nothing wrong with writing stories that will appeal to a wider audience, if they are still good stories. That last bit remains to be seen, but the current writers seem to have at least some clue as to what a good story is, wouldn't you say?
I've spent half of the time defending [Laird] from his critics in the comics feedback as much as hes' dealt with them in the letters page, the idea is his, true, but the concept is clearly being backed more by the marketing department
It's possilbe that this change in direction may sound more business-driven than it really is, simply because we've been hearing things through the business or marketing people. That doesn't mean there's no artistic inspiration behind things. In fact, in my opinion the show has been very artistically driven so far, and I see no evidence that that is about to change. So, again, I see no reason to assume the show is about to jump that dreaded shark, regardless of whether I personally like the "above ground in the future" setting.
I would think that, since TMNT is Laird's baby, he would know what happened with the old show. And the Simpsons are still on because their fan base is far wider than a bunch of spoiled uberfans who think their opinions count more than those of people who are not psychotically obsessed with the show.

Quite nice you label former fans whod' rather watch the past ten seasons as "uberfans" though, as if thats' even an insult... , I swear, when faced with the truth, the "apologist" fans can't come up with anything but "you're all spoiled". Yeah...spoiled on better shows. This ain't 1997 anymore.
One may also suspect that resorting to the catergorisation and snide dismissal of these "spoiled fans" is indeed large evidence that the people who actually ARE psychotically obssessed with the show and think it can do no wrong are the ones labelling older season fans with such words rather than...you know...deal with a differing preference

It's not fair to label us Simpson-supporters "psychotically obsessed". I love the Simpsons, always have, always will. And, IMHO, shows like Family Guy and the stuff on Adult Swim all take back seat to it. But even I believe that the show has it's dark moments. There was even a time when I was ready to give up on it, but I didn't, and I'm glad I didn't, because it's still good. Granted not as good as the "Okley/Weinstien era", but it still delivers.
Sorry for going off topic, but I had to say something.

"Uberfans" is most certainly not an insult. Hello? I am one! I just mean to say that while it's good to keep the us happy, we're not the ONLY fans. So long as the writers and our non-obsessed brethren (who FAR outnumber us) are happy, why should they listen to a minority?
I'm not apologising for anything. I'm just not ready to slit throats over something I haven't even seen yet. I don't happen to have a crystal ball that has revealed the almighty truth to me. :p
ETA: I was being a little sarcastic when I referred to the fans as "psychotically obssessed"... seeing as I am rather obsessed myself. ;) Sorry that it sounded harsh.

A long time ago FG fans who wanted the show back were a "minority", we got louder.
You've got a point, even if I have no clue what "FG" is. I don't dispute that fans can and do influence shows sometimes. A small army of very organized fans brought Daniel Jackson back from the dead on Stargate SG1. But that doesn't mean the fans know best or that it's their due to have their opinions acted upon. Some people think that bringing back Daniel Jackson was a crap decision, so what about that minority of uberfans? There's always someone who's not happy.
It's possible that the dissidents will get louder about Fast Forward. But right now? There's really nothing to go on but the precedent of the work the creators have done so far.

Spoiled by better written and animated shows? Yeah, we are, that's' what SHOULD keep garbage off of television, instead Angel gets axed, The Simpsons still live. This is coming from FANS of the show, not haters.
Seriously man who the hell are you calling a Hater there sure are episodes of every damn show I dislike but you know what I'm happy it's still on the air along with turtles and not I'm not sorry about saying what I said...people are spoiled if you don't like something change the chanel be a fan of what used to be...be happy with what you had and keep those awesome memories.....
and The so called super awesome FANS your spouting about in my opinion are the ones that killed the show when it was going in a great direction with the telling of stories of other characters then they all went on a bitch fit about how the show sucked and the show is called the simpsons not Springfield or whatever....to me that's the moment the show died when they listened to all those little complainers and stopped doing what they wanted....sure I still watch it and it has it's moments and you really misunderstand me I think Family Guy with even it's rather cliche new episodes are allot more interesting and funny then the last 2 or so years of the simpsons but to me at least it seems as if they are trying to bring the show out of it's slump. But I'm really not here to argue with you about The Simpsons on a TMNT message Board. One Last thing though comparing Angel to the Simpsons is a bit far fetched of a comparison.
I've spent half of the time defending him from his critics in the comics feedback as much as he's' dealt with them in the letters page, the idea is his, true, but the concept is clearly being backed more by the marketing department.
The thing that's funny is this show as always been that way as are most Cartoon shows....except adult ones and even that can be taken into consideration. You act as if the marketing of the TMNT is something new and wrong. I think you just don't like it because your scared it's going to remind you of the last season of the old show...
It hasn't even aired yet
When I said that I meant the way it's heading and the look of the characters.
When did they stop?
And I don't understand... Putrescent, why you say they're trying to bring the show back to what is was. I was a great show. It's this storyline I'm afraid of.
What I said there was not to worry as we are already being told this is just a season long and will go back to our regularly scheduled TMNT after that season I really don't see what all the whining and fuss is about...especially from someone who likes Mirage volume 4 so much.
I think the same apologists said the exact same thing when the original became too gimmicked...and it turned out to be the death kneel for years.
I'm really glad for you that you found a new word that you love to use Zarius seriously it's great ;)
And what gimmick are you referring to in the old show? You mean that of 4 teenage mutated turtles fighting ninjas and aliens...yea man I hate that damn gimmick they use..lol
Codys' a teen? Oooooh boy, Its' Daniel from Transformers all over again, those designs for the Dark Turtles are abysmal, one looks more like a snake man than a Turtle, and "Slash" has all the pompous expression of Eric Cartman.
You know the things that's really bothering me with most of your statements is that you are comparing this show to everything but what it is TMNT I've seen you compare Simpsons To Angeles and then Simpsons To TMNT, Now What Transformers, South Park, & He-man these comparisons wont hold up one bit. And what does Cody being a teen have to do with anything yea like show haven't had teens in them before and won't after TMNT or anything else for that matter..I think your just being ridiculous with this one. BTW these happen to be some of the Best Figures I've seen come from this stupid toy line in a long damn time.

I wasn't telling people to "shut up" I even made the point to say it's fine to express how you feel and coming from you Zarius I find it really funny BTW you tell everyone to believe in what you have to say basically or die...I'm being a bit Sarcastic but whatever...Especially with Lawsons Art and The Way Laird writes the new comic or even the Utrom Shredder none of which I hate because I just go with the flow until it runs it's course again...it's just a show and there just characters it's really not a matter of life or death I have all the utmost respect for both sides and even playmates and I know that no one is going to let us down Peter will not let this show end up like the last one did in his mind...I didn't even have a problem with the old show and for him to be thinking that way will only make this show better...I'm sure he will do everything in his power to not let this show get out of hand and turn into a bad show.
And You say I'm humping things and acting like God please how dare you...*edited to stop any fights* Your saying that everyone has the right to say what they want yea I guess everyone does except those of us who actually like this and are excited...I guess only those who bitch and complain about everything are only aloud to voice there opinions, etc. I'm not sorry I like how this looks I'm not sorry that I love how the new toys look and I'm not sorry to have my own opinion how's that for an "apologist."

I'm guessing you didn't ever read the Archie series...I hates Slash in the cartoon myself but loved him to death in the Archie comics...Now see for me it was different lol I hated Tokka in the movie and loved him in the cartoon but also hated the action figure because it was just a Tokka head and bits with a Slash Body that made me so mad as a kid haha.
Well, some of us are fine with it you can keep on hating it and that's fine to. We can all just agree to disagree :) See the way I look at all these different TMNT is that we need to embrace it no matter how much we hate it because it's always gonna be around no matter how badly you want it to go away but that's just me and my way's of thinking.
Well the toys are usually 75% crappier then how they look in the show. So I assume they look much better in the show ^_^

So long as the writers and our non-obsessed brethren (who FAR outnumber us) are happy, why should they listen to a minority? why should they stop listening now...other shows, companies and other things have gone under because they do what only the fans want...Palisades Toys just went under and what did they make toys of shows that had gone off the air a long time and the only people who got them where fans of the shows.....not a very smart idea....even though I was one of the people who purchased everything they made...I Used to be one of the complainers to but now I've had a change of heart and I'm really glad Peter Laird can think for himself and does his thing because thats the best thing of all.
I'm not apologizing for anything. I'm just not ready to slit throats over something I haven't even seen yet. I don't happen to have a crystal ball that has revealed the almighty truth to me. :p lol Zarius just has a new favorite word it's OK.....and yes I think we really are all fighting over nothing it's all just really silly and pointless they are probably laughing at all of us saying man look at those kids go at it again...or it could make them rather sad that we are not doing better things with our time than fighting with each other on a message board lol
ETA: I was being a little sarcastic when I referred to the fans as "psychotically obsessed"... seeing as I am rather obsessed myself. ;) Sorry that it sounded harsh.
The thing that's funny is we are all obsessed that's why we are here! and if you say your not your a damn liar...every last single one of us are Obsessed with TMNT that's why we come here every day hunt down news watch the TV show and eat the cereal wear the shirts read the comics etc....even if we don't like them for the most part it's because of our love for the property and we want to support it all over again....
A long time ago FG fans who wanted the show back were a "minority", we got louder. They brought the show back because of amazinf dvd sales not because of a bunch of fans.....sure they helped cause I'm sure they ran out and got them to but you know what I hated family guy at first because I loved the Simpsons so much but a friend of mind lent me both box sets when they came out I was like woa I was wrong this show is ultra funny so I ran out and got them to that's how it happend and Fox even said so. It took a hell of allot for them to bring the show back.....tuns of fans want Futurama back to but all you see happening with that is dvd new movies...not really the same extent as Family Guy...and for the love of a can we please get back on topic!

I found a link to photos of the "Fast Forward" figures, a little bit bigger. No Dark Turtles here, though.
Is it just me, or have all their weapons gone Star Wars? Oh well, I guess it would fit... they've done plenty of homages already, why not more? And they make me laugh because they remind me of my "Jedi Turtles" pictures I did a while back. :D

This direction is something that the concept can't carry by itself ... but I'm willing to hope they've got enough good story material to risk such a drastic change, and for a whole season. So while I'm still a bit jumpy, I'm content to wait 'n' see.

Seriously man who the hell are you calling a Hater
Who the heck said I was calling you a hater? Putting words in my mouth as usual.
people are spoiled
And you catergorise to the point its' childishly laughable
The so called super awesome FANS your spouting about in my opinion are the ones that killed the show when it was going in a great direction with the telling of stories of other characters then they all went on a bitch fit about how the show sucked and the show is called the simpsons not Springfield or whatever....to me that's the moment the show died
The show died when they went on vactation too many times, the show DID revolve more around Springfeild, Homer took over the show, and it went from social commentary comedy to slapstic Loony Toons
I don't personally care if you think the detractors who "killed the show" are'nt fans or are, there still fans in spite of your opinion, if they "killed the show", thats' more akin to blasting Old Yella straight in the skull.
One Last thing though comparing Angel to the Simpsons is a bit far fetched of a comparison.
Angel was much funnier when it balanced itself with that and the drama, thats' why I brought it up, its' fresh, it represented FRESH
You act as if the marketing of the TMNT is something new and wrong. I think you just don't like it because your scared it's going to remind you of the last season of the old show...
"Gee, ZOIKS, I'm scared"
Hardly. More used to seeing this kind of rubbish happen to better shows and they suffer for it to the point when they do get better, only the die hards notice.
What I said there was not to worry as we are already being told this is just a season long and will go back to our regularly scheduled TMNT after that season I really don't see what all the whining and fuss is about...especially from someone who likes Mirage volume 4 so much.
Volume 4 is about change, everlasting change and expanding change, going into the future, an uncertain "History can be altered at any moment afterwards through possible hindsight" future at that, is more of a gimmick than a season.
And what gimmick are you referring to in the old show? You mean that of 4 teenage mutated turtles fighting ninjas and aliens...yea man I hate that damn gimmick they use..lol
Not just that, the mutants and monsters used frequently after season three, there were gems in the originals' run, but it was akin to finding a flower in a dustbin until the seventh season restored the show to its' roots.
And what does Cody being a teen have to do with anything yea like show haven't had teens in them before and won't after TMNT or anything else for that matter..I think your just being ridiculous with this one.
"Ridiculous?"
TMNT (original) had Carter. Carter sucked. TF and Kids hardly go well at all. Cody is another "scientest type perfect teen" from that outlook, if he were in his twenties, it'd be a whole different level of belivability.
You're being too proactive in your assumptions its' going to be "great", high expectations are doomed-to-fail, I don't need I have to remind you of what happened with Power Rangers SPD.
The apologist remarks were also sarcasm, a reflection of whats' been going on in the PR fandom as of late, not really meant to be a term directed to you or any other defender of the premise, but just an example of what you go into whenever someone has a differing dislike.
It's a wonder anyone wants to come around this place with half the attitudes and Negativity around these "fan" sites.
Nice one, calling us fans in that kind of context, really love influencing peace on Earth dont' you?
I wasn't telling people to "shut up" I even made the point to say it's fine to express how you feel and coming from you Zarius I find it really funny BTW you tell everyone to believe in what you have to say basically or die...
Truth hurts. Evolve or die.:P
I guess only those who bitch and complain about everything are only aloud to voice there opinions, etc. I'm not sorry I like how this looks I'm not sorry that I love how the new toys look and I'm not sorry to have my own opinion how's that for an "apologist."
Hmm...insulting a concerned fan, catergorising me, snidly dismissing...oh yeah, grade A example of an apologist right there
OK seriously what money are they making off that show nothing...
...Name value, ratings are still stable, merchandise still sells of the hook.
I mean seriously...do you even count the show as popular whilst still loving it? Because as bad as it is now, thats' the only thing it really is. Still a ratings puller.
.everyone is spoiled by these shows because they act as if they own them or everyone has helped create the show or some crap such as that I've even seen you spout out such things about the TMNT so you are not a saint Zarius.
...English, do you speak it?
So wait...you JUST accused me of contradicting myself when you're mister "I've always loved the Simpsons, but I hated the last two seasons?"
Coo-Coo, Coo-Coo, Coo-Coo...
I'l lstate this once more, if we're spoiled by anything, its' consistency. The producers owe it not to insult their audience by toning it down, or we dont' watch, and some of us dont', but The Simpsons are an entirly different ball game, it can still go on for years and years sucking wind, and people will still pay atention because it has progressed past the point of being just another show, its' an icon of Americana, firmly etched in culture, its' like Happy Days and M.A.S.H shows you just dont' beleive can get off the air until they choose to.
OK seriously what money are they making off that show nothing...
...Name value, ratings are still stable, merchandise still sells of the hook.
I mean seriously...do you even count the show as popular whilst still allegedly loving it? Because as bad as it is now, thats' the only thing it really is. Still a ratings puller.

The series had reached an acceptable level of closure and I'm fine with it only returning in movie formats. The bottom line is that the fans brought it back in that format, dont' try and belittle or downsize their success just to continue with this "Minority fans dont' matter" bulls*it.

Ya know what...none of the info for Cody Jones has stated that he's a teen... just because he looks young doesn't mean he's not in his early 20's(like 21/22). Heck Im in my mid 20's and can still get into theatres on a child's ticket. :P
IMO he's in his early 20's. He's got Asian ancestry...Asians are known to look younger than they are for a loong time and who's to say that there's not a way to keep on looking young 99 years in the future? Heck in Batman Beyond Static Shock is 60 but looks to be in his late 20's/early 30's. *shrugs*

See that's the thing you don't have to like them there are those of us who do...they have big shoes to fill with the tmnt...they've got so many different fans screaming in there faces all the time about this or that.....me I like everything maybe I'm just to easy going....
We can all just agree to disagree See the way I look at all these different TMNT is that we need to embrace it no matter how much we hate it because it's always gonna be around no matter how badly you want it to go away but that's just me and my way's of thinking.
Well, the thing is, is I'm not forcing my opinion on anyone. I'm just stating it. So I'm fully aware that there are those of you that love the idea and Slash and whatever. And more power to you. You can love it as much as you want. I just don't. No biggie to me. So please don't act like, or think that I'm forcing an opinion on y'all. Because really, I don't care to do that.
Also yes, I did read the Archie comics. (I dunno WHY when I say I don't like something, someone assumes I've never seen it before.) And I didn't like him then either. So there we go. (And if we're gonna be honest I also hated Ninjara... but oddly erough, I enjoyed Mondo Gecko. Huh.)
Hey, I'm just stating my fears here, and a bit of opinion, too... But by no means am I forcing ANYthing on ANYone.

Precisly, all some of us try to express to these overexaggerating A-Clowns are some differing perspectives and reason from previous shows that have had histories of resorting to gimmicked premises and not coming out as succesfully. Instead they attempt to bite our heads off

me either I'm not forcing anything on any of you just stating how I feel and trying to spread some good faither around the boards that seem to doom and gloom as of late that's all....I've just really grown tired of all the bitching about everything is all no offence to anyone it's just a bunch of people not one single person so please hun don't think I'm saying you are though....
I don't know why we do that though force of habbit lol I just thought what slash did in archie was really brave and it made me love the character because he gave his life for the guys.
I'm just one of those rare people that like everything tmnt lol but it's all good :)
and I wish certain people would stop miss quoting me or quoting only part of what I say to try and make make me seem like I'm telling everyone what to do or how to think...I'm just trying to calm everyone down...that's all...
I am in no way try to pick a fight or be a jerk with any of you...like I said to Zarius I'm done with this discussion untill we A. Learn more of the show/ see more & B. The show airs. I really do think we are just taking each other the wrong way.

"Season five of the show catapults the TMNT and Splinter to the future, to the year 2105, and to a very changed Manhattan, with all sorts of new villains and a few old ones as well."

I think that's come up in one of the threads. Leo's shell should heal... but that chunk out of the rim (more scientific term, someone?) wouldn't fully repair in real life. But this is a cartoon, so...
Those are the marginal (peripheral) scutes, MN, but I think "rim" works well enough. I wouldn't expect it to heal all the way, but that gash looks huge to me. Not that I know anything about turtle doctoring. I wonder if the artists know turtle shells heal (even part-way)? I don't see why they wouldn't. Maybe they will take the opportunity of FF to fix that quickly and completely.
