I consider myself a huge huge tmnt fan. I, however, am embarassed to admit that I do not know for sure what happens to the main characters at the end of the original series.
I was just curious if anyone could tell me what happens to shredder. Do the turtles finally catch and destroy him before the last episode? What about Krang and the technodrome? Do the turtles ever end up saving the world, or NY?
Also, I own volume one of the old cartoons and there are episodes at the end that are animated in a different style than the ones I was used to. Why do they look so different and who is this Dregg they are battling?

I also dont really know what happens to tie up the whole series, but I can tell you that the episodes that were animated differently were from the "red sky" seasons of the show. There were only 2 red sky seaons and they were aired on cbs. You can find out a lot about those seasons as they are discussed a lot on this board.

-Shredder and Krang were'nt even the main villains by the end, they were replaced in the last two seasons by Lord Dregg, an alien fugitive/warlord who breifly fooled the Earths' populance into beleiving he was benevolant
-The Technodrome was destoryed, trapping both of 'em in Dimension X by season eight, they came back for around three episodes in the tenth season, but without Rocksteady and Bebop or much of anything
-As already posted, the animation became sleeker and the stories darker in content.

So shredder just kind of fades away into the background. Did they think us fans would not notice or did they just think bringing in a new villian would be better.
So the shredder/turtle conflict remains unresolved in the OT?

Shredder/Krang DO come back for a three-part episode in Season 10, and that's the last we see of them.
The original series basically ends with us seeing the Technodrome completely destroyed and the Turtles use Krang's Android Body to get rid of Dregg.

Anyone know why Seasons 8,9, and 10 only have 8 episodes each? The previous seasons had about 16 episodes and I'm just wondering why the last three seasons had shorter episode listings.

By the end it became pretty diverse. There were new villains every few episodes in between Dregg to keep it fresh. It eas really great. HATE were some of those villains. Some clock dude who reminded me of the Riddler. I remember an alien warlord who was like a cult leader I think. And there was Beserko.

I don't know for certain, but I always assumed it was due to declining interest.
Are seasons 9 and 10 the first appearance of Dregg? I think he was only ever in those seasons and the Next Mutation, correct? I can't remember him popping up anywhere else.

Nope, no Dregg in New Mutation. The main bad guy in that show was some guy called Dragon Lord.

Oh, haha. That just goes to show how much I cared about Next Mutation.
I assumed it was supposed to be him because, well, Dregg, dragon... Yeah, anyway, it probably would have made Next Mutation a bit better if they had used Dregg instead, and made it a continuation of the cartoon instead of the movie, and left out Venus, and... Hm, I should stop before I ramble.
