I hate the horrible JRPG crap that ends up getting over here as it is. Region free is just going to mean more spiky haired fruits who look like chicks. There are some of those insane games that come out over there that I'd love to get my hands on, though. Stuff like Doshin the Giant and ByteHell 2000 are very appealing to me.

I'm sure we want the ps3 to be region free but how can you guys read and understand the other langauges??

Plenty of people play imported games on Mod'd PS2's already. It's not that diffcult. Most games you don't need anything translated unless there's a language puzzle. You can figure out what to do pretty easily. Plus some games, like Devil May Cry, the dialog is recorded in English and has Japanese subtitles. So it shouldn't be a problem.

That's a pretty brilliant move on Sony's part. The average consumer won't care much, but it's a great way to tempt the hardcore elitist Nintendo/Xbox gamers into considering their product, for once.

Though I'm glad to see the article address the NTSC/PAL issue. Unless they find a way around it, I hope they make an abundantly clear warning when it comes to imports. Otherwise, hold onto yer seats, maties. Thar be a bitch fest ahead.

For someone living in Get-Everything-Late-Or-Not-At-All Land, 'Region-Free' is music to my ears. I can only hope Nintendo follows suit.
