What would life be like if there was no tv, video games, movies, etc..
You know the digital era we are in, what would life be like if it was like that?
This something I wonder while watching the simpsons. it was the episode wheer sideshow bob wanted to get rid of all the media and if they don't he'll use an Atomic Bomb.

Go read a history book, you'll see what life would be like. People would sit around and tell stories, do work, and god forbid read books! And when they got bored they would think opf plans on how to kill races/religions they dislike.

If there wasn't an internet, I wouldn't have a headache as often, because the stupidity out there is just breathtaking. Be it fan-fiction, web sites or forum posts, there's idiots everywhere and I sometimes suspect that life wants me to meet ever dumb idiot out there personally. It's not like there's enough real-life idiots, no, I get to see them online.
And the online ones are worse than the real-life ones, becaus the RLIs still are in danger of being smashed in their dumb faces, where IIs can be dumb all the f*ck they want and nobody can hurt them.
Life without TV? Possible, but I'd still need my DVDs.
Life without video games? I've done that for about two years and I'm more or less playing M64 at the moment.
Life without idiocy? Yes please!
Go read a history book
What is "read"? You're not talking about that eyes and letters thing? I've seen a movie on that, but it looks so awfully difficult.
And what is "book"? I think I've seen one of those a couple of years back, but it was broken. It didn't have a controller or a remote and there was no plug attached to it. There was only that thin white stuff with black stuff on it. It scared me.

Fire? I dunno, but after I heard that they eat people, I try to stay away from them. And they really are scary. With all their paydges or whatever those things are called...

Are you asking what would your life be like if all TV/Movies/Video Games/electronic entertainment/etc ceased to work?
Honestly, I'd survive well enough. Once upon a time, for about two and a half months, I had no cable, phone or internet thanks to a billing hiccup with Deutsche Telekom. I was new to the area too, so I knew absolutely no one and had no mates close-by. Worse yet, I was unemployed, stuck at home with no car, no viable public transport and jacksh*t within walking distance. The first week was hellish and every 3 hours, I was leaping back to my computer to see if maybe the internet had magically healed itself. Cabin fever set in pretty fast.
But after the first week, I gave up and found other ways to amuse myself. I read every book I could find, some of them twice. And when I had nothing left to read, I kept a journal and started writing again. Any old story that popped into my head promptly ended up on paper. I listened to NPR a lot. I also cracked down and taught myself to cook.

I actually...wouldn't mind very much. I mean, I'd be pretty bummed not to be able to listen to my cd's and I'm totally addicted to Oblivion right now, so that would be a problem, but if I had to give it all up?
I know I'd drop TV faster than anything. I haven't watched a TV show in months. I could easily do without the internet, as I don't use it very often anyways and when I do it's only to check out some VG news or look around the forums.
Honestly, I'd be perfectly happy without any of that stuff. I could easily read on my spare time, which I do a ton of anyways. It'd also be fun to spend time with friends without a TV or videogame being involved some how. I wouldn't mind it at all.

I agree with Peanut. ;) :PI'm jokin', I'm jokin' hehe *hugs Peanut*
I actually love the idea of sitting and talking and telling stories. I envy how close those families were. I love to read and will opt for that over TV any day.

I would be pretty pissed. I mean, I could like, write letters to shadow. but that would suck.
I need my internet. :D

I'm sure we all need these things? What would happen if the world of tomorrow happened to destory all the digital stuff we have.. Imagine life without all the cool stuff you got..
No oblivion!! Gasp!! No Metroid prime hunters.

no internet and I would spend more time at the library hunting down books. No TV...I can live with.

As for me, I should have been born in the 1920's.
Life would suck, but I'd have to adapt to it.
I guess I'd start playing a lot of basketball, and really take martial arts.

But what would be the point if you can't share it with the rest of the world?:P

^ Uh.... personal enjoyment?
I'm in love with music! Seriously, I can't go through a day without listening to at least 2 hours of music. If I don't hear any, I'd have to make music in my head, and I have a tendency of thinking aloud, so I'll probably be hunted down for looking suspiciously insane. I'd probably be more accustomed to the color white and softer walls.
But let's say we were all born into an era where there was really no technological advances and inventions... I'd probably be churning butter or something.

Those are both strange times indead :o
I would prefer to be born in 12-14th centery Japan or in the Medieval Periods *imagines herself waving about a flag saying 'Protect the Dragons', before a knight stabs her and runs off to slay a dragon*

So long as I have paper and pencil, I should be OK. I mean, I'd miss all this *gestures sweepingly at all the Internet around* but I'd survive. Maybe go running more often... get out and DO stuff.
If it was just TV... I would be immensely sad every Saturday because there'd be no TMNT. But otherwise, I don't watch TV anyway.
Actually, if you were to think about it, we all would survive, because nobody ever discovered TV, Internet, Radio, ect, so nobody would complain because we've lived with it for so long. It would just be natural to live without electricity
My life would be FAR less complicated without that stuff. I don't play video games much anymore, and I don't watch TV much anymore, but without the Internet I wouldn't have friends from Ireland to Australia and the bits between.
I'm assuming you mean we'd lose the entertainment side of the Internet? Because it would take forever to do research without it, and research/WORK is part of why it was originally developed. Ask Al Gore. ;)
Personally I think the world is better off with television. It's educational.

Ahh, educational TV. Besides TMNT, Nova and Nature (woo PBS!) are my favorite shows. :D

Aww...thanks Iris. That really did make me feel warm and fuzzy inside :)
But yeah...who would've guessed this was intended for military intensions when they first heard about this thing called 'internet'. Technology is an amazing thing

Hahah... I remember people saying, "some day everyone will have 'personal computers' in their homes." And me thinking, "yeah RIGHT, THAT's gonna happen."
We have four.

I'd probably ride my skateboard, draw, read comic books, and get out more often. Maybe even hang out with my friends a couple times a week and get more things done during the day. I'd do more ninja training instead of watchin' TV or goin' online. That would be fun and I could just jump out of nowhere and fight people.
Sorry to burst your bubble, c-14, but how are you gonna make a movie if there's no TV and/or computer?
That's the real horror. :P
Maybe he could turn it into a play.

I edited the post, Ben. I dunno if you noticed yet, but I figured I'd tell ya.
Maybe he could turn it into a play.
I could do that, but I'd much rather make it a movie cuz that was my original intent. I have no idea when I'm gonna get together with my friends to make the movie cuz they're always busy.
Yeah, plays will work.
I'll do the curtains for ya.:D

Thanks, Ben. I'm sure you'd come in quite handy for operating the curtains. I'll let ya know when I need you.
Maybe I can be the director and go all Colin Mochrie.
"That was CRAP!"
Colin Mochrie rules.
