I've been re-watching my TMNT dvd (just finished "Attack of the Mousers" actually...so it's fresh on my mind.) and I noticed that there are quite a few mistakes as it relates to leo's shoulder strap to his katanas, and this led me to wonder: Was the shoulder belt an after thought? Was it thrown in later just for the simple reason that he can't support his scabards without the added strap? early Leo models from www.ninjaturtles.com show no strap, but some do. So what's your opinion? Is it just a drawing snaffo, or was Leo originaly designed to have a belt very similar to that of his brothers?

I think it's design. Wearing the sword kit without a support strap would look pretty silly because they'd just be floating, prettymuch. (You know, like Don's bo..) However, if he's not wearing his sword kit, there's no need to have the strap... maybe it's detachable. It might be difficult to remember when to draw it in if you're in a rush.

It shows here that the scabbards are attatched to the shoulder strap and that the strap is indeed a seperate piece from the belt.

Oh, and I'm sure that the animators must have mistakingly left out the strap in that mouser episode.

That's funny...in the movie Leo's twin straps were apart of his belt, as was Donnie's single shoulder strap.

I wonder..thes two type of weapons are on their backs....think movie..not cartoon(i know this is toon though) Donnie's single strap has ties on the back, who ties up his stick? And I'd think Leo'd need help strapping on his scabbards since his twin straps buckle on the front and back of his belt.
And then ...I find it interesting Raph's belt buckled in front and there's either another connection point around his back or it's to adjust the belt...dunno.
I never looked close to Mike's to notice anything in particular.

Yep all the weapons have coresponding colored wraps.

I remember that pic Ryona. I thought about posting it myself actually. and you are all peobably right that it's just a drawing blunder. I just wonder if the mistake is due to using a diffrent model or what. Because it happened an aweful lot during those first 3 episodes, the first one in particular.
