For Christmas? I got a new surround sound set up, an air hockey table, some DVD's, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets for Gamecube, LoZ:LttP for my GBA, and a bunch of Toronto Maple Leafs stuff. It was a really good christmas this year! What did everyone else get?
I got a 12" Raphael figure, Crocodile Hunter: Collision Course (not really as good as I thought it'd be), a calender by one of those cool fantasy artists, and the January 2003 issue of Wizard magazine, complete with TMNT on the cover. Not much, but the younger sibs came first this Christmas. I'm doing my after-Christmas shopping for art supplies this weekend. *happy she's finally getting a good set of inking pens*

Aside from a bunch of (much-needed and much-appreciated) Kitchen stuff, and some clothes, I got some TERRIFIC TMNT stuff for my collection!!!
-A 30 piece (giant piece) floor puzzle of an image from the cartoon series
-A 300 piece jigsaw puzzle of the first movie poster
-Four issues of the TMNT Magazines
-And last, but certainly not least, A tmnt TAPE recorder with microphone, with a Rock and Roll Raphael on the front! It's in terrific condition, too!!! :D
As soon as I get my camera cooperating with me again, I'll get pictures of it all up on my website.
OH! I almost forgot the best part! I also got a video called BEHIND THE SHELLS -- it's a behind-the-scenes view into the first two movies! It's great! There's just something incredibly funny about watching a bunch of guys who are human from the waist up and turtles from the waist down dance around a movie set!

my family is pretty poor, esp. since my dad's work injury, and they fired him, so now there is this big lawsuit blah blah blah =/
anyways, i got a big bebop doll (couple of feet tall, soft plastic) that my grandmother found in her hug garage of junk (shes a big-time yard-saler hehe), some new sheets from my other grandmother (they are really soft. not as gay as you'd think...), and from the parents i got a nice screwdriver/wratchet set, and i bought some plastic and we used a bender to make some awesome comic book display racks! now my turtle comics are for everyone to see =).
however, i bought myself a good bit of christmas with the money i made working during the summer =D. i got all the tmnt comics (mirage and image), just recieved the original action figures in the mail, got me a logitech wingman cordless gamepad (it rules!), a digital camera, and i might get me a scanner if the price is right ;-)
other stuff i got from family was a desk clip-on lamp, socks, socks, and more socks, one of my grandmothers paid to have my car worked on (yay!), and a crap load of food (double *chompchomp* yay!).
not to mention i pigged out for 3 days. so im a happy, fat, and full camper!

From my dad's house:
- Long sleeve Faded Glory shirt
- $25 Best Buy gift card
- $5 Best Buy gift card
- $10 Hollywood Video gift card (with a big bag of Doritos to boot)
- $5 Blockbuster Video gift card (whew! too many gift cards!)
- The Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring book
- Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon mission pack (which I can't use, my dad doesn't know didly about computers)
From my house:
- Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure DVD (hey, I love that movie!)
- George Carlin desk calendar
- Mini model rocket starter set
- "Travel Kit For Him" (includes comb, nail clippers, nail file, and shoe horn)
- Black TMNT t-shirt (with logo and turtles under it)
From my mom's friend's house:
- Fancy looking waste basket (literally a BASKET!)
- This one's pretty cool: a handheld battery-powered keyboard vacuum cleaner! No computer geek like myself should be without one! Oh yeah, got some monitor cleaner to go with it...

Santa Claus and his helpers were very kind to me this year. I love film scores, so I got a bunch of CDs this year: The Green Mile, Chocolat, The Patriot, Signs, E.T., Fantasia, among others.
My sister, of all people, got me a green Ninja Turtles T-shirt! It just has the Ninja Turtles logo on the front. I haven't gotten something TMNT related in over 10 years, so that was a nice surprise!
I also got the Jurassic Park 4-disk DVD set, since I had been clamoring for that since the summer time.
So it was a good Christmas this year!

Yeah, even those don't fit...I wear a medium in girls' juniors. Curse my feminine petiteness...
LOL! I have a Hot Topic TMNT t-shirt, but I don't where it often because it's not exactly a flattering fit. A straight-lined shirt on a rather curvy body just doesn't work well. I ended up ironing on a TMNT logo patch onto a halter top. And if I ever decide which image to use (probably get one from the new cartoon) I'm gonna silkscreen it on a babydoll style tank top.
Of course, I've still got a few shirts from 1990 (yes, that's the date on them!) that still fit me in a please-don't-wear-that-to-pick-up-your-sister-at-school kinda way. Although the movie one is still looks decent.

LOL! I have a Hot Topic TMNT t-shirtNothing personal, but...UGH! The TMNT shirts I've seen at my local Hot Topic were only half-assed IMO. Gadzooks had the exact one I wanted, and I believe that's where my sister got it for me...
Well, I haven't too many good MENS TMNT shirts at Hot Topic...
I know. It was a cartoon style t-shirt, green, with a picture of the guys on skateboards with the caption "Radical". I still like it because it's TMNT, you know. If there were more cool stores in my area, or I had the ability to buy online, I'd have the cooler shirts, but I can't.
I saw this really cool hooded pullover in a catalog, Old Glory I think it was. Black, with the cartoon logo on the front and shells on the elbows. $50. Right, I bet I could make that for like $5, easy.

My grandmother used to own horses...who knows, maybe she still does. Last time I talked to her was over a year ago, when she told me that comics was a dead, no money business, and that I should have different career dreams. :sweatdro: This was right after she refered to my step-mom as a Mexican and asked if all that she fed us was black beans and tacos. (My step-mummy's *Cuban*, and no, we eat americano food alot.)
Needless to say, I was not too pleased...

Aww. Jobs ain't all that. I count eletronics parts for a living at the moment. I hate it. Well, most of the time I do. Pay day's kinda cool.
But with the grandmother thing, it's the Generation Gap. She must not realize that the comic book and animation industry is growing everyday. As my dad would say "Back then comic books were hundred-pound slabs of granite. Everybody thought they were stupid. Except for us kids." (He's got a weird sense of humor.)
And when you say you want to be an "artist" I think most people think paintings and sculptures and such. Fine Arts. Pfft. I always say I wanna be a pratical artist. My work ain't ever gonna be in a museum, but I'll hopefully be recognized before I'm dead.

LOL! You know what? That's EXACTLY what I was like at 18. I understand perfectly. My dad ended up getting me a job at his work (yes, counting eletronics parts.) Did that for less than a year, then was laid-off. Now, a couple years later, my money ran out, and I'm back working there again.

My parents call me a freeloader. Probably cause even though I work I'm always bugging them for money. Free money is good. :D
I simply don't pay rent, and get meals free, and slip little items into the shopping cart. Of course, there's also been times I've had to pay for some of their things because they simply did not have the money. (They owe me $900+ and I'M the freeloader?)
Ooh, I went after-Christmas shopping! I got some Prismacolor pencils (finally), inking pens, a nice eraser pen, a bulletin board (soon to be painted this really cool blue flame pattern), and a new Christ Hart book. I'm a happy little artist.

hurrah for freeloadingAnother person who doesn't understand...in this family, "freeloading" has no definition. Both my parents have the philosophy that if I want something so bad, I have to pay for it myself...
So, that might explain my bias against the "spoiled" generation...
Okay, so get a job. Go into every store and fast food joint and ask for a job application. Most will hire even without work experience. Fill out as many applications as you can. Ask your parents for help and tips. I don't mean for this to sound easy, it's not, but that's a really good philosophy, you should work for what you really want.

That's how it is with our dogs, too. Every time they get a new toy, the first thing they have to do is rip the stuffing out of it. Then they have to bite the squeak out of the squeaker. Then it's finally okay to play with for hours on end.

In other words, you can't blame me for not trying... :flaming:
I don't mean to contradict you, Kali, but I can see what you mean when you say it's difficult...I'll take your word for it
Yeah, stupid economy. (Though for the record, you can't expect a person to understand unless you explain things to them. :P )
That was my summer, several job apps but no call backs, and some places weren't even giving out applications. I thought it'd be easier towards the end, since some employees would be quiting their "summer jobs" but still nothing. My friends all went through that too, so I guess the job scare is happening all over the country. :ohwell:
It's scary, because I know I'm going to be laid off come summer (the business I work at ALWAYS does it.) Seems like a long time from now, but it'll come all too soon.

It's always good to have friends working in a store. That's how I got my job at EB Games. I couldn't really ask for a better job at my age though. I work 5 times a week for $8.50 an hour for 7 to 8 hours. I work overtime sometimes. Plus the fact that when I go to work I get to play videogames the whole time. I fell into getting a job pretty easily at first. A guy who ran a sports card shop asked me if I wanted to work alongside him one day since I visited the place all the time.
It was the greatest place to work. My baseball card collection grew considerably because the guy paid me in cards, not money. I worked there for two years, and I have nothing but the fondest memories of that place. But then the guy decided to move to Oregon, and that was the end of that.
And then the cold, hard reality of trying to find a job on my own struck. It took me approximately a year to find employment after having gotten so lucky with the sports card store.
I still hold a grudge against our local Wal-Mart; I turned in 14 freakin' applications, and I never got a job. What really blew my stack was that some lame-brains were getting in with one or no applications, and I couldn't get in with 14. I was a straight-A student in high school who took pride in working hard and doing things correctly. But, oh no, that wasn't good enough for Wal-Mart.
I like to joke around that I was just too intelligent to work there. I got to meet the manager one time, and he wasn't exactly a rocket scientist. Maybe he doesn't hire kids whom he thinks are smarter than he is.
Anyway, I eventually got a job at a grocery store just down the block, and I love working there. Four years later, I'm still employed, and I know I'll always have a place to come back to if the real world bites me in the butt.
Wal-Mart, meanwhile - the place I just had to work at - has since gone to hell. I have more brains in my pinky finger than some of those workers do in their entire bodies.
Checker: "Did you want to buy this?"
Me: "No, ding dong, I'm just standing in line because everyone else is doing it."
But, yes, finding a job can be very hard. And once you have a job, work hard and don't take it for granted.

I play whatever. I have most of the good games out now so I just play a bunch of different games. Mostly X-Box and Gamecube games since PS2 really doesn't have anything special right now. It's great though.

Well right now QH do dominate the barrel racing, but throughbred's have a bigger lung capacity and are faster....but most have no turning skills at all.
and why exactly do you have a slight distate towards barrel racing? :-?

I would too, but honestly, what chance do the Leafs have of getting to the finals? I admit, their one helluva team, but they had that REALLY awful start at the beginning of the season, and that totally screwed them over. Meh... i'd like to see it myself ^_^ . I like any team that Ed Belfour goes to... gotta love Ed :P 1 helluva guy ^_^

Well the Avs aren't exactly off to much of a start either. Plus I was talking about last years playoffs. When the Leafs were knocked out by the Hurricanes. Had it not been for or amazing amount of injuries it would have been us in the finals. I was just saying I'd hoped the Avs would get in there as well. It would have been a great series if the Leafs bench didn't look like a farm team.

Yeah, however, QH's do better on those short sprints between barrels. TB's do better on a big jumping course, or other long distance races too. ;p And I can tell yah, they no like to corner! I had trained a green TB filly for the race track, and she was right handed all the way. She was very stiff, or had a dull mouth, or something, cause she did not turn left very easily. Mh....
But you can say I'm an English/Dressage freak. Most western forms of riding (except for trail riding, roping, and cutting) turn me off. Sounds too harsh on the horse, what with the wear and tear on the legs (saddle seat/gaited and barrel racing). Or the complete breaking of the spirit (western pleasure) if not just making em all riled and crazy (barrel racing). *shrug*
Storm Wolf

How do you get that western pleasure is a compleate breaking of the spirit? (this is an honest question...I'm not trying to be a smart....well you know...)
HorseTechie

Well, it looks like they 'break the spirit' persay.
I went to the U fo Findlay, and it had riding courses for both English and Western. I had spent two years riding everything English, then to just be mroe knowledgable, I went the toher two years at the Western farm. their methods seemed to be harsher to me. They favor the use of big bits and bridles that make the horse want to keep its head down. They train for it to go about with its head level with its shoulders all the time, no matter if it's western pleasure or QH huntseat pleasure. Then with training and the use fo the bit, they teach the horse to go at a slow lope and trot.
Man.. after all that I learned at the English farm, this severly clashed in my mind. Huntseat in english terms means that the horse is free to move as it were with little interferance with the rider, or excessive tack that would hender the horses natural movement (like martingales, big bits/double bridles, figure eight nosebands). But QH style huntseat looks just like western huntseat... they just change the tack and move out a bit faster. :dead:
Yeah.. the western riding instructor screeched at me many a time, when I was traing this one horse for english style. I thought it was to be in the true English style, and not the dropped head method. I didn't know how to train a horse to be like that... so they taught me. It seemed to be so confining, to make them go at an unnatural pace, and at an unnatural form, with an unnatural bit n bridle.
I guess you can say I'm like one of those gentle horse trainer types. I like to use typical everyday equipment to handle and ride a horse. Nothing real fancy, with the requirement of a pro trainer to tell you how all that mean equipement works). But yeah, not afraid to use whip/crop, lead chain, or spur when I have too. Some horses truly are born wild and crazy with no amount of gentling to make them sensible. (I used to work on a couple farms a few years back after college)
But never mind my preaching... you'll find that every horse person you meet with have their own opionions about horses. :D
