I'm talking in terms of stand-up comedy only, so no, "Weird Al" Yankovic and the like are not included anywhere on here.

Why did I make this poll, you ask? Well, for starters I just recently discovered Jeff Foxworthy's "Big Funny" and George Carlin's "Complaints and Grievances". I also happened to notice opposite effects on each one: George Carlin was great in the past, but now he's sorta diminishing. Jeff Foxworthy wasn't all that popular when he premiered, but "Big Funny" proves that he's only getting better as the years go by. I must say this one is his funniest yet.

But overall I'll have to say George Carlin. He's been called the "thinking man's comedian", and I am definitely a thinking man. As he said in the opening track to "Complaints and Grievances": I'm here to entertain and to inform...He's vulgar, he's provacative, he's counter-culture to the extrme...all the more reason for me to like him as a comedian and idealist in his own perverse way.

If you choose "other", please tell me who. I've only put male comedians on here because quite frankly I can't think of too many female ones that can compete with quality of this stature! But if you think of one, by all means please share your views! Choose "other" for either a male or female one that I forgot to mention.

Vote away...

I would have to vote for "Other" because two of my favorite comedians are not listed: Tim Allen and Johnny Carson.

Johnny Carson ushered in the way that comedians do their thing today. Comedians might still be around today, even without Johnny Carson, but he was the originator and the one man that everyone is compared to.

i would have to say Jerry Seinfeld, his comedy was different than any other which made it funny, and he has a funny voice, so does George Carlin :D
