I emailed Dan Berger about when the lost season will be released and this is wut he had to say...
"The good news is, "The Ninja Tribunal" story line will be completed -
the bad news is, it won't be airing on television in the USA.
4Kids Home Video plans to debut the entire "Ninja Tribunal" story arc
on DVD in early 2007. This action-packed adventure will not be aired
on TV anywhere in the US by that time - so they will be "straight-to-
DVD" releases (at least in the United States - at the moment we're
not sure if they'll air anywhere else in the world, but it seems
unlikely). We'll post more info about "The Ninja Tribunal" DVDs on
the site as soon as we hear more news from 4Kids."
So it looks like we got to wait a long time to see wut happens. I don't know about you guys but im dieing to find out about the real shredder now.
I think the bad news is I have to wait a year to finish this story; and that it could be spread on more than two DVDs. I don't care if it's aired on TV.

2007?! Bloody shell!! WTH do we have to wait till 2007 to see it?! So it's gonna air in other countries before it airs in the U.S??? That doesn't seem fair!!! :ohwell:

Damn, man...Early 2007? Jeez, you'd think they could release it a little earlier than that...
...But I digress. At least we're actually getting the eps on DVD, right? With the way this franchise (both new and old 'toon) have been treated lately, that's a small miracle in itself. :ohwell:
The good news is, "The Ninja Tribunal" story line will be completed -
the bad news is, it won't be airing on television in the USA.
Well that's a real bummer. I had imagined that after "Fast Forward" was all said and done they'd pick up where this season left off...So what you're telling me is they began this whole "Ninja Tribunal" story arc, opted for a completely different story next season, and are never going to reference the tribunal story again on TV? That blows chunks.
So I was totally wrong!
Am I the only one who finds this situation slightly amusing? :P
So it's gonna air in other countries before it airs in the U.S??? That doesn't seem fair!!! :ohwell:
He didn't say that. He may only have current info about the US schedule. If it airs in other countries before 2007, chances are good that...um... "special copies"... will be in demand.
Early 2007? Jeez, you'd think they could release it a little earlier than that...
Is this a backburner project, possibly? Because the same team is concurrently working on the episodes intended for TV?

Hey as long as we'll be able to see it by DVD release then it's cool.
Atleast that's better than putting the season in a safe and never open it.
This Sucks! Looks like Fast Forward will just seem like it comes out of no where now for sure. I mean last time we saw our Boys in Green they were on a boat off the coast of Japan and next time we will see them they will most likely be back in New York about to be sent to the future. I hate 4kids.

That sure is a long story arc, since there's supposed to be atleast 13 episodes

Here's a longer e-mail sent to me by Dan today. I also asked about the same thing, but he answered another question that has a few people boiled over.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Howdy Eric,
> Okay... I'm a bit puzzled with the ending of this season.
Everyone is - and rightfully so. I updated the FAQ today with info
received from 4Kids.
> I know you have said that the majority of season 5 will take place
> in the future
All 26 episodes of season five will take place in the future.
> but will the beginning of it wrap this season up, or are we doomed
> to have to wait until the Lost Season comes out on DVD?
I'm afraid that we're doomed to wait until they're released on DVD.
> Also, any word on when the Lost Season is due out?
The hope is to have the first release out in January, but the
official stance at the moment is "early 2007" - so it may take longer
than is hoped.
> Please tell me this summer and not AFTER the beginning of Fast
> Forward.
I wish I could, but work is still being done on the episodes for "The
Ninja Tribunal" episodes, so they won't be finished in time to be
released before 2007.
> By the way, whose idea was it to initiate Fast Forward instead of
> going in the direction season 5 was supposed to go? You or 4Kids?
It was brought about by many factors that must remain confidential,
but I can say that it wasn't our idea. Fortunately our partners did
agree to make "The Ninja Tribunal" episodes available on DVD, which
we appreciate. While things didn't go as Mirage planned, at least
there will be a way to see how that story line ends for those who are
interested.
> I hate it when stuff like that happens.
It's unfortunate - but that's TV for ya. At least we're still in
business.
Thanks for writing!
Cheers!

That's really good, Katie. Come on y'all. Gift horse, meet dental examiner.
Maybe I find this amusing because there's friggin' huge 13-episode bonus, and someone in TPTB is truly evil to tease the fans with it like this. :) And you all who can afford to buy DVDs are better off than me.
(Hm... I wonder if there's any way to get CN to pick this up? Not that I ever get to see anything on CN, but still....)

2007?! Crap! Well, it's better late than never. I might not watch fast forward becasue it won't make sense to the story line and will probably be crap. I will just buy these DVDs when they are released, and then I will be back to watching good TMNT episodes.
Why must it remain confidential, and for how long? I want to know why these investers were getting antsy about not making money off of this investment. Did the mob threaten them!? Was this to save their lives!? I want some interviews with some answers.

I mean last time we saw our Boys in Green they were on a boat off the coast of Japan and next time we will see them they will most likely be back in New York about to be sent to the future. I hate 4kids.I think it's more likely that they will just appear in the future not having any idea what is going on. It will probbaly take place after the lost season, and there wont be any mention of it in the show.

ok I finally got to see the season end episode ...and man I'm ticked it ended like that....I really hate fox..they screw up every show they have ...why just so they can make a few more bucks off it and ruin a great damn show!:dead:
now that I know they don't have controll of fast forward I to am really scared for the future of the tmnt.
I think it's time we all stood up as tmnt fans and wrote to fox about this crap and tell them how we really feel.
I mean hell get other people you know to do it to even if they aren't that big of tmnt fans like we are...something needs to be done.
I mean look its worked for family guy and other shows.
oh well I'm really sad now...

I agree. But letters won't help, Fox never listens to the veiwers, hey only listen to the focus groups that have been paid off to like everything they put out.
It worked for family guy because of the DVD sales.
Does Fox make the decisions for 4 Kids! or are they a sepperate thing contracted by Fox?
I like the cliff-hanger. It gives me something to be excited about next year; a reason to come back. What I don't like is that I'm won't be coming back to what I want to next season.

Wow, I really kinda wish that we didn't have to wait that freakin long! I'm gunna forget all about that arc by the time it does come out lol.
Fox tends to be a rather bad company. I know how they operate. 4Kids seems no different. :p Maybe that's why I can't muster the energy to be mad.
What I would suggest, however: Those of you who appreciate getting the DVDs might want to write thank-yous the the people responsible for bringing them to you. Let them know you're buying them and tell them THAT's the type of TMNT you want... because MONEY TALKS.

WTH!! 2007!!! that is just not right! Why even show "Ninja Tribunal" if they ain't gonna show the rest of it! They should have ended the season with "Good Genes"! i'm going to my room and I ain't coming out till 2007!
I agree that they should have never shown "Ninja Tribunal." The episode should have been released on DVD w/ the rest of the lost season. Starting next season w/ no mention of this episode is retarded for anyone currently watching the show.

They should have ended the season with "Prodigal Son", as that wrapped up the storylines of most of the earlier episodes this season and had an explosive finale

I think it was a good idea to air Ninja Tribunal, because it pretty mucjh garuntees high sales for the Lost Season DVD. Because now people are more eager to see this.
I just wish some of the higher ups at 4 Kids would come into these message boards and see what the fans really want.

Honestly, 4Kids doesn't care too much about what the older fans want. They care more about what the kids want. That's how the buisness works. While they'd like to keep us happy, if there is more money to be made with a format change off of children, they'll go that route.

Glad to be seeing the Lost season on DVD. And from everything I read it looks like its a wrap for the new cartoon after the Fast Forward and Lost seasons.

*sighs* Why am I not surprised?
Atleast that's better than putting the season in a safe and never open it.Very, very true. That's happened so much with some children's book series I collect (some are TMNT books, too)... they've been written and everything, just never published. Really frustrating.
Is this a backburner project, possibly? Because the same team is concurrently working on the episodes intended for TV?Probably. They have to get the "Fast Forward" eps done to air, that'd be first priority. Then they'd spend the off-time working on the "Tribunal" eps. They're gonna be real sick of Turtles. :goofygri:
I think it was a good idea to air Ninja Tribunal, because it pretty mucjh garuntees high sales for the Lost Season DVD. Because now people are more eager to see this.Yeah, you could be right.
Anyway, I'm very pleased that they're going to release them on DVD (although that's a long time from now, I hope they actually follow through..), at least. Now I just have to pay attention and be awake when they come out so I can get them. :p
Hang in there, everybody. And don't be so hard on "Fast Forward" yet. Wait till we see an episode first.
Chris

I agree with that.
It's easy to be hard on Fast Forward because it's airing instead of The Lost Season. But remember originally The Lost Season was Season 5 and Fast Forward was Season 6. Whilst it was 4Kids idea to ditch The Lost Season and make Fast Forward Season 5 the actual concept was already in development so the story's not a last minute idea forced upon the show by the network, only the idea to skip The Lost Season.
So Fast Forward should actually be pretty good as the TMNT series so far has been great! Hopefully FF won't be the final season (I see no reason why it should be) and the TMNT will be back in the present for Season 6
