Alright guys, I live in Melbourne, Australia, Cartoon Network's just screened the ep and here's the rundown for those that want to know.
It opens with Baxter giving a recap of everything that has happened to him up until this point. We cut to the present and find the Turtles chasing down Outbreak Virus mutations (toads here apparently) using the gear that is going to appear on the Monster Hunter figures. We cut away and find that Stockman has been engineering a clone body using the super soldier technology Bishop developed. Stockman is eager to transfer into the body, marvelling and gloating about its perfection. Bishop warns him against it, but Stockman is far too proud. He goes through a neurologic transfer and during this transfer we are given a flashback to Stockman's childhood.
We find that Stockman was a good kid, but clearly science was going to twist him. As an 8 year old (assuming), we see him mixing some sort of acid in the kitchen, and is about to pour it into a jar containing a live roach. Just then his mother comes home and gives him his first chemistry set, like he's always wanted. He asks her if she can play with him, and as much as she wants to, tells him that she has to work double shift that night. Stockman is disappointed but his mother tells him how much he's worth to her and he lets the bug go.
We cut back to the present and strange things are happening to Baxter's new body. The skin seems to be having some sort of reaction. The reactions escalate, but Stockman can't find anything wrong. Progressively, the body starts to deteriorate and Stockman starts having delusions, seeing visions of his mother from his past.
The body starts to rot and fall apart at an alarming pace, and Stockman is enraged at his failure, trying to find somewhere or someone to blame it on. He doesn't blame the Shredder, nor Hun, NOR the Turtles. No, he blames April, and decides to go in search of retribution.
He finds her at her apartment with Casey, who he quickly disposes of and abducts April. We cut to the Turtles, where Donatello is introducing them to the new BattleShell. Casey buzzes them and tells them what's happened. They track Stockman to the abandoned Stocktronics Lab.
Here Stockman is planning to dissect April as a form of torture, but he begins to trip out again and when he looks at an operating table (?) sees his mother on her deathbed. Once again she tells him what promise he shows and that the sky's the limit for him. April comes to, but Stockman is still in a state of delusion and sees her as she was back when she was his assistant. The Turtles and Casey show up and Stockman snaps to. April escapes and makes her way to a rail-tram going across the river. Stockman catches up to her and climbs the rail to the cart.
Back at Stocktronics, the boys find what I assume is one of Bishop's or the Foot's helicopters and use it to get to April. They reach the cart and drop in to save April, but Stockman puts up another fight. Everytime it looks like April is safe, Stockman comes back and grabs her. He manages to grab her as the helicopter is flying off and April pleads with Stockman, telling him how much she respected him, how much she looked up to him and how brilliant he was. He once again trips out and sees April as his mother, and as the helicopter comes back, tells his 'mother' to get away, to get to safety. He gives her to Casey and the chopper takes off as the cable-car crashes into the water below.
I was under the impression this episode was banned for some reason. It's slightly more gruesome than the recent episodes. At one point April kicks Stockman and his jaw dislocates and hanges by strands of flesh down at his chest. His finger also rots and falls off, as does the rest of his arm. Basically it's a zombie-Stockman. The Turtles don't figure into the episode too much, and it's not overly violent, you see Stockman becomes and there are some underlying adult themes making it a heavier episode than most. Strange that we got it in the proper viewing order but others didn't seem to have.

The episode wasn't banned for the 900th time it wasn't aired because of the out of order way 4Kids was doing the episodes. Dan has stated that so many times.
Anyways wish someone had made a torrent out of it -_- Oh well

Werd to Spitfire! Unfortunately, we aren't allowed to talk about it in public. I really do hope someone in Australia thought of us American Turtle lovers and decide to record+rip it.

I'd bet on that version considering how many episodes have run out of
order this season. I can't ask my boss to get the official lowdown as
he's out of town this week.
> Will "Insane In The Membrane" Air still?
As far as I know, it will be aired.

Sounds kinda hypothetical to me. Doesn't matter guys, take it or leave it, I saw the episode this morning and given the broughaha kicked up about it, thought i'd post what happens. The running order has been fine here in Australia and as far as I can tell the only hiccoughs have been in dealing with the DVDs and next season.

As far as I know, it will be aired. That was before the season finale. People were just asking why it hadn't aired yet, and well, he doesn't know. He was suggesting that it was just out of order and would still air, but it didn't All we can hope for now is that it is aired when they rerun the entire season.

As far as I know, it will be aired. There is no way you can draw a definitive conclusion that the episode was not banned from that statement. It just says that Dan's opinion on the subject is that it wasn't banned but skipped as a result of episodes running out of order. Again those statements are only Dan's opinion, which he openly admits, not guaranteed facts.

Yes but theres also no difinative proof that says it's been banned. It's just assumed. It makes sense that due to the schedule beeing out of whack in an attempt to make Adventures in Turtle Sitting the 100 episode, Insane in the Membrane got bumped. Now that the reruns are being put in order, looks like it'll finally air.

I hope they play it soon or some one uploads it. :(

You'd think after recovering Baxter's brain from the river, Bishop would just put it back in the old robotic body rather than constructing a new one for him. Particularly since the new one seems to be kinda weak ....

ok look maybe 4 a child of 4 it may seem a little creepy but nothing worth banning its rated pg so please stop saying it was banned. I am 99% sure the reason they didnt play it is because it woulda made no sence. It way 2 far out of order. they were still fighting mutegen monsters. In the episode, donny presented the new moving van aka the battle shell. It also shows where they found the hellicopter and we look into bakster stokmans life a little more.
hope this is of some help im off 2 watch the episode again :P

Take your time to post it. I know we're all eager to see this ep and I have people in the P2P's who are waiting for it but I've been downloading things long enough to know that ya gotta be patient. :D
But hopefully this ep will air in the U.S.... hopefully...it's either that or I'll move to Australia since that's also where the full season DVD sets are selling... :ohwell:

You're already 2 seasons ahead of us in terms of DVD's, and the season sets are just the four individual releases in a box. Nothing new, nothing different really. They just come in an odd CD tray packaging. I've been importing all my Turtle DVD's, we only just got the middle two parts of season 2 here!

Just put it in Rapid Share. It's alot easier for people to just download it that way.
E-Donkey is an issue because the RIAA/MPAA have been closing down alot of the servers. So far they've closed down 2 of em, 1 in NY and 1 in Europe (one of the biggest of the European servers was shut down a couple months ago). Plus not everybody has E-Donkey(nore do they even know what it is). Plus putting it in E-Donkey takes too long to download, while Rapid Share you can download it in a snap. :)
I have Shareaza which is a meta P2P that uses E-Donkey/E-Mule, Bit Torrent, and others.

How come the RIAA/MPAA is allowed to shut down servers outside America?

It probably didn't air due to the episode being out of order with the others. If it was banned though, I'm not sure I would be all that suprised. Baxter planning to dissect April sounds way beyond creepy and gross. This sounds like it's up there with the headtrip factor of BatMan: Subzero, when Mr. Freeze was planning on taking out BatGirl's organs and giving them to his wife.:o  If anyone uploads it online, I would appreciate a link to see the episode. Woah! What a weird ep that sounds like... did we really want to know about Baxter's childhood? He's just a very sad character. http://www.geocities.com/jafarnut/blink.gif
I guess it proves that no matter how weird he gets, he still loves his mommy (identity crisis aside), and even allows himself to die (although he probably wanted to, as I mention below). Sad. :(
I'm going to assume it's going to air. I'll only panic when I see them skip it again. I don't think they will.
The body starts to rot and fall apart at an alarming pace, and Stockman is enraged at his failure, trying to find somewhere or someone to blame it on. He doesn't blame the Shredder, nor Hun, NOR the Turtles. No, he blames April, and decides to go in search of retribution.:teek: One word: nanobots. I hope not.
it's weak to keep Stockamn in check.Personally, I think that was the point his body deteriorated to. That's a good reason why he wanted to die: he'd rather die, than humiliate himself, parading around in the body he created that failed miserably. To him, it probably just screams "Look! I'm not as smart as I thought I was!"
And absolutely no mention of Robyn. Now that kind of weirds me out. They just threw her in all of a sudden, and only for one episode? Did they say anything about her?
or how they got their hands on the new Battle Shell.Well, but they mention it, and they'll probably say how they got it.

"The final edited and mixed version of the notorious 'Insane in the Membrane' was deemed unsuitable for air by Fox Broadcast Standards and Practices. Apparently, in between the time the episode was written, storyboarded, animated and edited (all stages approved by Fox BS&P), and the time the show was mixed for air, there was a change of personnel in the Fox BS&P offices, and no one involved in the original approvals was still employed at Fox. Upon seeing the episode, they were said to be 'horrified' and that there was no way they could air the episode. I'm not sure I disagree with them - had there been BS&P comments earlier in the process, we certainly would have handled the show differently. But as it was approved at every stage, we went full steam ahead. In the end, I was told it was bad judgment on my part... so there you have it.
I believe this episode will eventually be available, but plans have not been finalized."

It was an interesting ep yes there was some rather gross scenes like a body part falling off here and there but I don't really see how it was too horrifying for the FOX sensors. Was the horrifying moment when his mother dies, leaving a young boy all alone in the world? Was it when his finger fell off? Was it when we found out that NYC has gondolas? I guess we'll truly never know. Either way the FOX sensors are complete baka's. I liked the ep and I hope that this actually airs on U.S tv someday.
There are just so many unanswered questions...what we do know is that Stockman does Indeed come back.
But visually we barely saw anything, all we saw was his finger falling off then apperantly one of his arms fell off cuz we saw him testing it but nothing "horrifying" truly happened. I've seen scarier stuff in a Scooby Doo cartoon.
But seriously...WTF was up with Gondola's in NYC???

All it takes dude. One parent sees those two seconds and Hell can come-a-walkin'.
Shredder was decapitated, then proceeded to get up and pick up his head. Is that the kind of things parents scoff at and ask for more?
I think it was the imagry and overall theme, not just the finger, that caused them not the air the episode.

Or the overall decay of his body, arm floating in the tank, and the shadow of him pounding a steak into his arm or whatever it was he was doing.
It's not so much as the parents as it is the children that might find it a little disturbing. It was a very adult-themed episode.

Yeah zombies are a touchy subject in cartoons. But after episodes like "Outbreak" Where their cutting arms off bugs and their bleeding all over. Or "Aliens Among Us" where the aliens explode all over and get their limbs lobbed off. It's not so bad, or unheard of in the show.

No jokes ! We are far from that good old kiddy show in the late 80's...
BUT ! there is one show I can remember who was way worst than insane in the membrane. I don't remember the title, but its was about a competition where monsters and mutants were fighting each other and limbs were constantly ripped off. The competitions were races, hockey match, basket and all kind of sports like that. The main good guy was a skeleton kinda guy who's best friend was a lizard man.
It was airing at 6:30 am if I remember and it was quite an old show, I would say maybe 1990-1992...
Is someone remembering that show ? I'll try to find some more info on the net. Cuz it was one good violent cartoon.

Finally saw it. Awesome awesome episode, this coming from someone who hasn't been into the show since season 1.
I don't think it should ever be aired though, direct to DVD all the way. That way if someone doesn't like it, they can only blame themselves for buying the DVD, whereas there's less control over the TV since kids can turn it on at any time they want.
Do I think it was bad? I probably would have been terrified as a kid, but as an adult I've seen worse. That said, this is a cartoon, and it's meant for kids. I think there's a reason the ratings are so bad, it's because it scares the **** out of its demographic audience!
Fast Forward may be what the TMNT needs to stay alive, but just having episodes like this have made it all worthwhile. I suggest everyone see it at least once, try watching it on youtube before it's gone if you don't have a file sharing program.
I don't think the episode was that bad at all. Of course, there were some gross scenes, but we have seen similar things in other episodes which were aired. Remember Bishop's body melting when he was transferred to his new one and his skull showing for example? I don't think it was less gross, but they did show it.
After everything that has been said about Insane in the Membrane on the forum and from other TMNT-related people, I expected something really terrifying. I was disappointed. One finger falling and one jaw dropping, big deal. I want to stress that it's my personal opinion, so don't jump on me now telling me that kids would have been terrified. In my opinion, kids are used to such stuff nowadays.

The main problem wouldn't have been the kids, but their parents. The whole ''violent toons'' debate would had resurfaced and debates about the tmnt would had started as ''are the tmnt too violent now''. Kids are just loving seeing fingers falling off, but the parents, especially the moms, are not.
In that sense, it is a good thing that the show was not aired, spared some bad reputation for the turtles.

For those of you who are interested in the name of that show was called Mutant League and the main character was Bones Justice 9 (you can see any other info bout it on www.retrojunk.com they might even have the title ssequence im not sure). Pretty intense stuff for a cartoon back in the days and alot of limbs and stuff was ripped off but they had some kind of device to make them get whole together again(cause honestly how could the show last so long if everyone where dead after one game football :P . but hey it was on the same UPN channel that used to show Exosquad another good show when they consider showing some great cartoons back then. Also i believe there was a sega genesis game of the same name but i dont think it follows the show's plot cept the limbs and stuff coming and im not sure which one of them came first. A
As for the insane episode im starting to watch the first part of it now i will give my thoughts bout it and if 4kids was indeed right to hold it off after i view it later on.

It was a great episode, but I can see where the censors felt parents may have been "offended."

No problem man its just real funny around that time it aired in early 90s so many dark cartoons were out and about on tv like exo squad i mentioned earlier, swat kats, pirates of dark water (a cult fav of mine they show revamp this show NOW:D ), captain planet, and beast wars. i dont know why but sometimes remembering this show always i view it as a dark cartoons even though they have their times of comedy and bumbling villian screw ups plus it being a transformers after all. I know im missing some more but I can only hope that era may return someday when networks had some intestinal fortitude to show new and exciting forms of animation without having it watered down for the sesame street type audience.

Yeah, the 80's was known for goofy ideas with goofy humor as well (even Transformers and GI Joe had their own goofy episodes like "the viper" or "kremzeek").
The 90's just took it a step further. They took the goofy ideas and made the shows serious and dark. I think you can thank Batman Tas for that. Shows like X-Men, Spider-man, Batman, Gargoyles, etc...
And while Pirates of Dark Water had a tiny bit of edginess to it, in the end it was as goofy as Turtles what with the bird always wanting fruit or something. Still it was a bad ass show and I REALLY hope that someone gives it a revival. If not a cartoon or toy line, then just a new comic book even if it lasts only like 5 issues, I'd buy it. Pirates wasn't a failure, Hanna Barbera ran out of money and I think either closed and then got bought out, or vice versa. Some of the nicest animation, and that says a lot considering it came from the same company that did Scooby Doo and Jabberjaw :p

I think some of the reasons why they deemed it horrifying was:
1: The way the finger fell off..or rather melted off
2: The jaw dropping incident
3: A child becoming an orphan.
4: The fact that despite getting a new body, Baxter never once put on any clothes.

All good points BUT that still didnt stop the original network executives or whoever was keeping track of the content of the show from confirming the episode could air without any problem until the new ppl came in and quite possibly had a heart attack on what they saw.
All in all a pretty good adult themed episode on such a interesting and complex character even though SAINW still reigns supreme. im glad they gave Baxter the spotlight and let the turtles kind take a back seat in this one and its not like the writers felt any conern on doing so. They done it quite a few times already this season alone with I Monster and Tales of Master Yoshi showing how they can be diverse and have there supporting cast/villians run the episode. I would rate the episode just below Ninja Tribunal and Tales of Master Yoshi as the best episodes this season. Can anyone tell me what was the deal with the dangling plot in this episode where Stockman uses the tranq dart on April but from what im hearing on other sites it may be a set up to a volume 4 comic story. Can anyone elaborate on this further??
And Ecto i knew i indeed was missing the heavyweights of the 90's but you pretty much got them all for me in one fell swoop, thanks. i really wish hanna barbera/WB will stop thinking ONLY Scooby-Doo and Tom and Jerry are the only shows in their library collection they need reviving constantly from the grave, sheesh :D

Where did you see it? YouTube? Because I tried watching it on YouTube, but the damn thing kept stopping after 4 minutes. I never saw the whole thing.

Yeah zombies are a touchy subject in cartoons.
And Reboot Season 3. When that first aired on ITV in the UK the episode "Mend And Defend" got a lot of complaints to the ITC because of the zombies.

You indeed have to be careful when walking alone naked with Bishop behind you like that...
Now lets play a little game... What is Bishop thinking on that pic...
Its also pretty weird how Baxter is actually looking like The Rock on that pic.

rotting flesh?
and I seriously love this episode I've watched it like 20 times now and I've showed it to everyone I know and they are like holy crap no wonder they didn't show this on tv lol so yea I have to agree it's a bit much for a show kids will be watching not so much the body falling apart but the close up eye shots and baxter going nuts and the way he throws april around..yea not stuff people really find all that nice lol.
seriously Baxter is my favorite character from this show he's got so much to him and I'm really glad they give it all they had in this episode for him.
I believe seriously though that it wasn't poor Baxters experiment that failed I believe it was stupid Bishops Super Soldier serum that was the problem. I mean we've only seen one other super soldier activated and hmm who was it? RAT KING yea and look at his body..it's all decaying and falling apart and he's nuts also.
Bishops a moron..not Baxter..I really do with he would have just let Baxter die like Baxter says in the episode we next see him in.

I've been out of the loop for a few weeks... so I just saw the statement on the official site about the change of staff before this show aired. I'm really surprised that it really was skipped due to its content. That was just a pretty unusual fluke, changing staff during production. Although, from what I've seen of the pics, it is on the disturbing side, isn't it? Eww. :dead: I'll have to find a way to see it someday.
Can anyone tell me what was the deal with the dangling plot in this episode where Stockman uses the tranq dart on April but from what im hearing on other sites it may be a set up to a volume 4 comic story. I FINALLY SAW IT, I"M BETTER THAN ALL OF YA!
Just Kidding. lol
But I must say, this episode was dark, disturbing, disgusting, and deep all at the same time. The animation(from what I could make out over the grainy detail of the video) was pretty well done. The writting was deep, the definatley improved on Baxter's character, and I can finally understand his pain in Good Genes. The action was suspensful and voice action was well done. Those damn sissys at Fox banned a excellent episode.
I'd give it the prestigious 10/10

Okay, after actually seeing the episode... I can sorta see how it got banned. I'm pretty sure the last thing little kids want to see on a Saturday morning was a decomposing body that looked like something straight out of an R-rated horror movie. So yeah, I guess you can't push the envelope too far and get away with it, every time.
But this episode was so nice. We got to learn a little more about Dr. Stockman, and we know that he was actually a good kid. What would twist him up is beyond me, but it's nice to know that he's still got a sense of goodness deep down, somewhere. This episode was definitely about Stockman and his past. I'm glad they gave him a proper story, rather than keep him as the scientist who fails every time, and not have a background story at all. It's sad stuff to see your mother die on a bed right in front of you. Now, I can see why Stockman wasn't always the best at making decisions. He wasn't steered in the right direction, completely.
Definitely a great episode. It just sucks that falling body parts and gruesome scenes can ruin a great episode being aired.

I have to admit, I really did like this episode. Finally gave Stockman some depth. Funny how one episode can take a character up from being just another character to one of my favorites.

I liked the reference to Dr. Curt Connors:

And I really enjoyed watching this episode in general. Baxter looked like the ghouls from "Fallout", my fave game. And it had more in-depth storyline than usual. Baxter wholly ruled it. Honestly - I have a strange impression that the presence of the TMNT wasn't really needed in this ep.

Very cool and sad. After seeing this episode, I actually feel sorry for Stockman. April and Casey looked mighty cozy on that couch :D (sorry all u Don/April fans) In the comics, April ended up with nanobots in her body after Baxter stuck her with a needle, just like in this episode :o .....hmmmm, maybe they'll do that in the show and have the turtles as little nanobots in her body!
PS..The dude who posted the episodes just removed them...
