Soon I might add Sam Fisher from Splinter Cell to my list of favorite characters. I just got my first Splinter Cell game today. I got Pandora Tomorrow, for only $9.99:)

Besides the obvious choices, Mario, Sonic, Link etc. I have a couple that I really love.

Master Chief (Halo) - I really started loving him after reading the novels.
The Prince (Prince of Persia) - Favourite game series of last-gen, and he's just such a cool character.
Waluigi - Despite the fact he's probably the most unoriginal character in Mario history, he's my boy in all the games he's in. Mario Tennis, Mario Kart DS, Mario Party etc.
Mega Man - Just such a gaming legend. I prefer old skool Mega Man to X, but I like X too.
Conker - My lone playable character in Diddy Kong Racing back on the 64. He's hilarious and CBFD was amazing.
The Wanderer (Shadow of the Collosus) - Doesn't talk, doesn't have any expression, just goes about his business to save his woman.

I have no idea how I forgot to put Mega Man on my list. He's awesome! I like Link from Zelda and Samus from Metroid also.

Here we go... list *with* reasons. Oh, and I'm going to do this by character, not by design... list might look a bit strange 'cause of that.

1) Mallow, Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars.

Why? He's a big puff of cloud. If you haven't played this game, I'm not going to spare you from some spoilers, because honestly... what rock have you been under for the last ten years? You just feel kinda bad for the guy. When you first meet him, some damn bully took his money... then he finds out he's not a tadpole, and *then* he's put on an insane quest with some crazy italian plumber. Somehow he makes it through it all though, and by the end of the game, eventhough I'm usualy using Peach as my healer, he's one bad ass mofo.

2) Todd, Pokemon Snap

Why? This kid doesn't care about forcing the Pokemon to battle to the knock out (read: death), he's just happy to take their damn picture. And anyone that's willing smash a Kangashkan over the head with an apple is just cool. Gassing Meowth's, forcing Magnemite's to evolve... all part of a days work for him. And hey, the game was a needed breah of fresh air.

3) Link, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker

Why? This is the *only* Link in the series to have a personality. Really, he is. The other Links were just shells for the player... but Eiji Aonuma must have decided he needed a bit more. And hell, the little tyke's fun to mess with. Ever make him just fall into lava to watch his animation?

4) Princess Peach, Paper Mario

Why? Again... she had personality. Aside from Super Mario Bros. 2 (USA version), this was the first time players got to control her in a platformer setup. One of my favorite parts of the game was sneaking around the castle as Peach, pissing off the guards.

5) Ed, Blathers, Tom Nook, Animal Crossing.

Why? Ed's a crossdressing horse, and in my GCN game he's got a full modern set on display in his house. Lucky bastard. What's not to love? Blather's is just funny as hell. Cracks me up every time I give him a gross bug. And Tom Nook is a shifty buisness man... but he'll take anything for bells.

Mario, Luigi, Peach, Toad, and last but not least, Tingle.
Switch Toad and Peach around, and you've got the order they stand in on the SMB2 character select screen ;)

5. Leon - He's cool calm, and can get blood sprayed all over him without even flinching.

4. Jill - My favorite Resident Evil Survivor. Jill is one bad ass babe.

3. Dingo - Operator of everyone's favorite Orbitial Frame Jehuty. He's like a techy version of Dante.

2. Kain - Ahh the star of his own series and quite a story it has. His blood lust and just plain acts of evil make him one bad ass vampire.

Is a half demon with some bad ass powers
Has a nice weapon selection
Kills some wicked looking demons
Does it for the benifit of his own affairs and no one elses
Hates his own family
Has more style in his pinky then any other video game character
And can pull off a total metro-sexual look and still be bad ass*I'll admit DMC 3 Dante looked like a model for some gay leather shop magazine ad*

Guess you'd have to play the games and possibly read the comics/Mangas to have the same out look I do.

Sephiroth, to me, is a whiney emo who misses his Mom.

Exactly, in games they don't really take the time to let you dive into the head of a character. But in books we get that and grow to love the characters for reasons the average person wouldn't understand.

I would faint in his presence from an OD of awesomeness!

Sephiroth (Final Fantasy 7)
He's powerful, he's insane, AND he's gorgeous!

Bowswer/King Koopa (umm... Mario games)
He's a giant dinosaur/turtle with spikes who can break fire, need I say more? Plus, he's got to have some sort of amazing talent to be able to kidnap Princess Peach like a zillion times under Mario's nose!

Ganandorf (OoT)
He does a dern good job at taking over Hyrule

Ridley (Metroid... no single one in particular although he was a b*tch to fight in Prime)
Just a very cool bad guy... in a primal purple dinosaur kind of way....

Star Wolf (Star Fox 64)
Yay! An evil space wolf with an eye patch!

Shredder! (from any old school TMNT game, or I guess any TMNT game)

Red XXI (FF7)- Looks like a cat, Howls like a wolf and a strong party member to boot.
Master Chief (Halo) - read the books for more depth and he's pretty cool. Has that calm, cool "I know exactly what's to be done." attitude.
Cortana (Halo)- I like her attitude. She smart, smart assed, and pretty funny.
Abe (oddworld)- I dunno...just a cool little character. A hero who's sometimes reffered to as a schmuck.
Stranger (oddworld) - He's funny and sounds like oddworld's version of Clint Eastwood.
Samus Aran (Metroid games)- Who'da thunk a bounty hunter could be a blond chick?
Yoshi - I don't exactly know why...I've always been a fan.
The Bard (Bard's Tale) - Says some pretty funny things...and the game itself is a pretty funny "spoof"

-I love everything about these characters. Who wouldn't want to be a wandering warrior-mystic. Or, his rich hipster best-friend/rival.

-Moreso the comic-book version than the game version. Like visiting an old friend.

Satoshi "Ash" Ketchum and Kasumi "Misty" Yawa (Pokémon)
-They'd just be so cute together. (a curse on Pokémon chronicles for not including them in the cast).

Link (Legend of Zelda)
-Coolest Nintendo character. Period.

Psuedo-Link (Legend of Zelda: The Windwaker)
-He may not be the real Link, but a charming kid nonetheless.

Luigi and Mario, in that order (Super Mario series)
-This list wouldn't be complete without them.

Yun and Yang (Street Fighter)
-I love their youthful enthusiasm and agile fighting style.

Sub-Zero
-He can freeze people, and has a very cool history. I think I'm the only one who liked MK: Mythologies though.

All party menbers (Grandia II)
-I got so hooked on this game based on how much I LOVED all the main characters. And, it's the only RPG where the battles aren't boring.

Squall and Rinoa (Final Fantasy VIII)
-Another great video-game couple. The contrast in personality is just great.

Cammy (Street Fighter) Sofia (Battle Arena Toshinden) Mai (SNK) Chun-Li (Street Fighter) Sonya Blade (Mortal Kombat)
-Female fighting game characters that are just on this list because they're sexy.
