Personally, I love the ports of DOOM and DOOM 2 for the GBA. Aside from the green blood (wtf?), they're pretty damn good ports for a handheld system! Hell, the port of DOOM 2 turned out better than the first DOOM port, so get that one.

And yeah, get the TMNT games of course, especially the first one (that was the best one IMO) :D :D :D

One of those few games I can speak for is Castlevania: Circle of the Moon. Total ownage.
Then we have Castlevania: Harmony of Dis~~, I've heard that the music is quite crappy though.

This is my area of expertise. If you're into RPG's than Golden Sun is a must have. Sonic Advanced is also a good choice. If you like puzzle type games you can't go wrong with Super Monkey Ball Jr. or Super Bust-A-Move. If you want fighting go for either Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance or Street Fighter Alpha 3. As for action THE must have game especially if you've never played it or don't own it on SNES is The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. Metroid Fusion is another very good bet for action as well. If you enjoy side scrolling action games Metroid Fusion would be perfect but don't over look Mega Man Zero. I don't recommend getting any old games. They don't play too well on the GBA and some don't play AT ALL. Well that's really about it for now. Of course there are other games such as Super Mario Advance 1 & 2 that are great as well. I just assumed everyone had played them before.

Well, so far my list is as follows:(no particular order)
Castlevania
Warioland
Mega Man Zero
Contra
Bubble Bobble (is that out?)
Super Dodge Ball
Sonic Advance (1+2)
Donkey Kong Plus (When it comes out though, it looks so awesome)
Final Fantsay Tactics/Golden Sun(Don't know which rpg to get yet...)
TMNT
Surprisingly I have never played a Zelda game yet I am a nintendo fan... So I may get that game if someone convinces me too...
I am also waiting for Mario 3 to come out on GBA

Any other suggestions? I am very open

I guess you're not into the first-person shooter genre like I am...

I am, I just got TimeSplitters 2 for Christmas for my GC, but i haven't played it much yet...I got a lot of games... I only like certain first person shooters...most of them get dull and stupid after a while, while fighting games keep me upbeat. I don't think trying to play a FPS on GBA would be fun at all...

To each his own...

And to be honest, the only reason I even bought my GBA in the first place was so that I could the GBA version of DOOM. I have yet to get my copy of DOOM 2. Yeah, I only got it for those games...kind of a waste, isn't it?

Not if you like FPS

Don't waste your time on dodge ball advanced. You may as well just flush your money. I've never heard of Bubble Bobble coming out for GBA same with DK+ and if it was announced don't bet on it anytime soon. Rare left so Nintendo is going to need to find someone else to get working on it. It could definatley be awhile. Also Final Fantasy Tactics isn't an RPG it's a strategy game. Absolutley nothing like it's NES, SNES, and PSX counterparts.

remember, we live in the day of the internet. get an emulater (i recommend visual boy advance - plays all gb, gbc, and gba games, or close enough) and try it before you buy it =)

Tokka-B

That's true...I could try it first...

Ok Michaelangelo...thanks for eliminating a few, lol

How bout recommending a few in their places?

Not Jazz Jackrabbit GBA, that's for sure.
It's an ok game, but you'll end it way too soon.
I liked Street fighter II revival and street fighter alpha 3 but i'll only recommend those ones to you if you like fighting games.
I've also loved the bubble bobble gba game (it's been out for a few months now :p) but then again, i'm a bubble bobble fan soooo...get an emulator and give it a try, it's legal to have it for 24 hours or whatever  if you like it then you could buy it.
Oh and bubble bobble has 2 different versions, the old one (the one that came out in the 80s...)and a new one, i liked the new one a lot more.
As for accesories...well i don't have a gba :P but if there's an accesory i would get if i had one, it'd be the flashadvance linker...and maybe the light thingie, tho i've readed it can f**k up your gba so be careful. :teek:

That's funny, I was actually considering getting the jazz jackrabbit game, cuz the one on the comp was so awesome...but I guess it wouldn't be fun without the online play. What do you mean it is legal to have it 24 hours?

Deepflame
01-05-2003, 06:27 AM
There said to be some law that allows you to have Roms for 24 hours or something, then you must delete them.
But that's just some fake law, if I'm not remembering wrong. Either you download them, or you dont... My choise is to download them :D

im pretty sure thats just BS some rom sites made up to try and keep themselves from getting in trouble, and actually doesnt mean jack.

Peanut
01-05-2003, 08:47 AM
You aren't supposed to download them at all unless you have the actual game. I can't believe Bubble Bobble is out. I loved that game in the arcade! Anyways personally I'd stick to the ones you know you're going to get your moneys worth from. You must absolutley try Zelda. You need to! If there's one game I recommend above all else it's Zelda and Golden Sun will take you awhile to complete so that's another good one.

Ok great choices, I will probabaly get them anyway...!

Anyway, does anyone now a good emulator site where I could get a Gameboy Advance one that works well? Also, where would I get the roms of those games?

SlayerX
01-05-2003, 03:58 PM
My recommended games would be:
Any zelda ones
Mario 2 and 3
Metroid Fusion (I think that's the name)
And Street Fighter (WOOOOOOOOO!_

Believe me, it isn't like the PC game...just stick to jazz jackrabbit 2 for pc  jazzGBA has some good AI but it isn't all that great, and levels definitely aren't as good.
And most importantly: TOO FRICKING SHORT!
As for the legality...yeah i think that was BS, you either download em or not, and it's still illegal.
I just do anyways :P

Best...gba...emu...so far.
Trust me ;) you might legally want to get that one to play your legally owned backup of legally obtained games.
Is that legal enough or should i legalize it a bit more? :P
As for the games, can't help you there, and shouldn't post it in this forum anyways, as i use irc to obtain my roms...

zelda is great, that and supermario adanced 2 and that's it for me, i hate metroid fusion...
o yea why the heck haven't they made original nes mario 3 for game boy yet? they totally skipped it grrr.

Tokka-B
01-05-2003, 06:29 PM
Don't worry PWDESAI, they are making Mario 3 for GBA sometime soon...It is supposed to be incredible..., also i hate metroid period so I won't get that, lol...

WWE, is mario 2 a direct port or did they make it better with like other features or something different?

Thanks Nick, I was looking at that one earlier, looks like you need a good system to run it though, mine might be too old, but it is really fast, so I don't know...Also, whenever I download something and I try to run it says something about the accessibility wizard crap, and I somehow can't open it with another program...and I may have that trouble with the emu and roms so I thought I would ask you, being the computer smartness thing you are, lol. Also, I might need you to show me the irc thingy... THANKS! :)

:goofygri: no problem.
I would recommend you other gba emus, but that's the most compatible one i know of, the only other one is boycott advance, and it's not all that great, it has some sound problems aswell.
Have you tried turning sound off?that could speed it up a bit.

Tokka-B
01-05-2003, 06:48 PM
No, the problem was, i can't run the damn thing!!! It is so annoying...

here is the message it gives me when i double click on it...

"There was a problem loading the file specified when running the Accessibility Wizard"

AAAAGHHH, this is driving me nuts!!! Just as much as playing Final Fight 1 on SNES, crap that game is impossible I swear...

Nickokapo
01-05-2003, 07:15 PM
:-? sorry, i have no idea what that means.
It seems to be something that comes with windows 98 (Windows bringing problems? How unusual!)
See:
http://www.annoyances.org/exec/forum/win98/t1035417320
You might want to turn that off if you can, then try again, or try using another emu like boycott advance.
If you do choose to uninstall it, i've readed you can do it by doing this:

1. Select Start - Settings - Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs and click the Windows Setup Tab.

2. Click on the check mark next to Accessibility Tools - remove the mark.

3. Click OK and OK. That's it.
You can always install it again anyways :)

:ohwell: you don't, get winzip or something to open zip files at http://www.winzip.com/
And i doubt this thread is ilegal, as i havent posted any sites to roms and wont, i just posted a link to an emulator, which can be used legally, if he does or does not is not up to me.

Right, roms are illegal, but emulators aren't, i don't think so, you could be using it for legal purposes.

The evaluation version one.

 yah, internet has gotten way too big to do much about it now, people are downloading roms every minute, and companies don't go busting people because some kid downloaded a game since it takes them too much money and time, they either send letters to the sites hosting them to close down, or their ISPs.
It's not very likely a cop will go to your house and *arrest* you  unless it's something VERY serious (and i mean it on the serious part, you would have to be a f**kin' roms pimp with like 30000 roms cds on your basement for sale purpose, or one of the main provider of roms or something, that'll most likely motivate them to hunt you down, and rightfully so, selling roms is just wrong :p).
But if it makes them feel any better, yes downloading roms is ilegal, don't do it  companies like nintendo make billions and billions when they could make trillions, but you are downloading their games!WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU MAN!HOW CAN YOU BE SO SELFISH, THINK ABOUT POOR NINTENDO!
Now you made luigi cry.And it's all your fault.
Seriously tho, if they do catch you spreading roms, they could send a letter to your ISP and you'll have to kiss your internet connection goodbye...at least that's what the mpaa did about the movies being shared with kazaa (will they ever learn  ) so i'm guessing if nintendo choosed to do some law enforcement thingie, they'd go with this since any other stuff would be too much of a waste of time/money (e.g: suing every single guy that downloads a game)
But that's about it...and they probably won't anyways.
Yeah, they could also check your computer, which would be an infringement of privacy laws, so you could sue nintendo for violating your privacy.
