If I "hated everything" I would'nt be calling the previous story this one is cashing in on a classic. Once again, you fail to assume to know me at all.

I can see what you mean, running the good idea into the ground. But Lawson's new art sucks in my opinion so I think it's nice he's paying service to the people who did like that issue of tales by making a few more comics in that style.

I don't mind at all.

Actually Spitt, I think only the first comic is going to revolve around that same kind of art. Leo will get his sight back around the end of the first or in the second comic. The purpose of the comics are to show Leo's dealing with himself after the murder of an innocent person. That's his Blind Sight.

why can't they just draw the turtles well...? I mean... are they really THAT hard to draw without makin em look all weird and deformed?? Geez, at least try to go for the classic Eastman/Laird look or the new toon look or something...

No, he still hasn't earned my nods of approval for his Turtle designs. But I'm definitely digging the idea of this arc and I'm sure it will bring forth why Leo is the best amongst his brothers. I'll be impatiently waiting for Wednesday.

Fantastic issue. This 5 issue mini-series is exactly what I'm in the mood for right now. This issue was really cool and next issue looks even better. Also I think critics of Lawson's art will be pleasantly surprised with how well he draws humans in this issue.

An amazing follow up to Tales Vol. 2 #5 (which was one of the best Tales issues to date). I can't wait for the rest of the series.

Got this issue today...MAN! Awesome!!! Jim Lawson rox! I don't care what anybody says!!! :D

The story is great. It deals with Leonardo trying to figure out his goal in life. He thinks of what would happen if he dies, either accidentally or suicide.

Mikey tries to cheer him up...even offering him a beer. :lol:

All and all a great start to this series. :evilgrin:

Definitely a nice beginning issue. I'm glad Lawson told us more than just Leo is depressed. He gave us the inner-thoughts of what was swimming through Leo's mind to further emphasize how deeply effected he is, at the moment. Anyway, great way to start the mini-series out.

Poor Leo!! :cry: :cry: :cry: I hate to see him suffer. I was able the last one my comic shop had!! . Is it me or are the most popular TMNT issues the real angsty one? I don't like reading angst too much but since we all know he gets his sight back, I can read this no problem.:ohwell:

Here's the review I wrote:

TMNT Tales of Leonardo: Blind Sight #1: Picking up where Tales of the TMNT vol. 2 #5 left off, Leonardo has been blinded by a vengeful Foot Soldier. Don is trying to find a cure, but things look bleak, while Leonardo copes with his condition and reevaluates his place amongst the team. Do they really need him? This is sort of an “It’s a Wonderful Life” kinda fake-out, though far more violent. It also doesn’t help that a similar “What if” story was done for the TMNT 2003 cartoon. Blind Sight is a 4-issue miniseries, and there’s lots of story-potential, but this particular issue was just Leo having an emo-fest. While watching the TMNT get slaughtered is fun, in a way, it doesn’t really go anywhere.

I disagree that the story "doesn't really go anywhere". The point of that little "What If" tale was that Leo was pondering KILLING HIMSELF. By engaging in that little mental excercise, he managed to convince himself not to. That's pretty significant right there.

I didn't get him contemplating suicide out of that, though. In his little fantasy he doesn't leap from the tower, he slips and falls (in a rather silly way). I think the entire issue would have been better if, in his fantasy, he imagined himself taking a swan dive into the streets rather than going "RAAAARRRGGGGGGH-Whoops!"

I know there's plenty of story-potential for Blind Sight, but this issue in-particular just didn't do anything for me.

Anyway, while I LOVED Tales #5, this is the worst 'comic book' -TMNT or otherwise- I have ever read. Sorry if I'm stepping on some toes here, but seriously, every single page of this sucked. I knew this series was going to be pointless, and nothing screams 'pointless' more than this issue.

Maybe I didn't 'get' it or something, and I'm not sure if I want to.

No, the original issue was a standalone story (And worked so well because of it) and did not need a spinoff. Whether it will be worthwile remains to be seen, but it was never neccesary.

Apples and oranges. Tales #5 appeal lay in how it was written as a short story; short and simple, with a twist and a hint of irony. It was done, nothing more needed to be added. It didn't introduce a brand new universe in the way Volume One #1 did.

But whatever dude, I am not going to argue about this. If you liked the issue, good for you, but I didn't.

That's cool, I don't want to launch into anything here either, I'm pretty sure there's a point to it though and it's far from the worst comic (TMNT or otherwise) - you obviously don't read Avatar's licensed horror lines (or Jason vs Leatherface)... blech!

If this is the "worst" comic you've ever read, then you probably haven't read many comics. Either that or you only read the best comics ever written.

I thought this first issue was a great character piece on Leonardo. It's the second part of a five part tale. The story is only beginning to unfold.

I can agree with that, for me its always seemed like the TMNT are in the real world in NYC with no superheros etc. It seemed kinda weird when the utroms came to earth in Vol 4 and that but anyway I liked this issue it was actually better then I thought it would be in a way. Should be good and its nice to have another TMNT title for a bit :)

Yeah, this one was really, really good. What's great also is the story is stand-alone even though it's part of a larger series. You don't see that often enough anymore.

I had to read this twice so I guess this makes it a good issue.
At first I was like omg what the hell how is going to affect everything Leonardo is dead!! And it's just a day dream shesh...they got me good.
I really didn't like those scenes seeing Leo's dead body and Raph being shot wowza that was a bit much for me to read @ 3am lol.
I am enjoying this and look forward to the next issue.
