More news from SHH:
- Writer-director Kevin Munroe was present and revealed five minutes of footage from the anticipated film, which is set after the second live action movie.
- He said that the film will feature hidden jokes from the comics and animated series.
- Splinter will be voiced by Japanese actor Mako (Conan the Barbarian anyone?). The other voices will be announced in a month, but they are not well-known celebrities.
- Shredder is not the villain in the story, though he does make an appearance, which might set up the conflict for the sequel.
- Expect Casey Jones and April to develop a relationship.
- Marco Beltrami is doing the score, and they are looking to create a theme for the "Turtles" CG movies, something memorable like the "Batman" theme.
- One of the scenes shown features a turtle dressed up for a kids party, and the kids beat him up, with one of the little girls kicking him in the balls. A lot of action scenes were also shown, like the turtles on skateboards, hang gliders, etc.
- The movie features a bat character and female ninja characters.
- There is a human villain, who may or may not be named Winter.

Ouch! But wait...they...I thought they were in their tails....Well that certainly answers that question :P
Shredder is not the villain in the story, though he does make an appearance, which might set up the conflict for the sequel.
Whoa wait...they're already planning a sequel?! And Shredder is in this even tho he died in the 2nd film?!

I didn't even know the TMNT had balls.
Well, aside from the 'Bat character' (No mutants, please), this stuff sounds really good. And I'm the first to admit that the Shredder is kind of overexposed, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't excited about him making an appearance (Wait, isn't he supposed to be dead?).

I thought this movie takes place after the second movie? Taking all of the first movie canon and parts of the second one. Well if that's the case, it sounds like that the Shredder didn't die then. I don't think they are keeping the whole "Super Shredder" thing in canon. Which, I have always found ridicious.
Anyway, any chance this 5 minutes footage will be put up?

It got me all excited for the TMNT again. I'll even ignore the so called rumored plot to it, lol.

That was excellent.
I'm amazed at the animation, it was quite good. I love the style.
Big relief here, atleast, the animation won't be his downfall at all. Now lets wait for the real story and characters... (fingers are crossed)
About shredder, we don't know, it might just be someone else trying to continue his ''legacy'' a la ''karai'' style...

Gotta admit that the movie and video game look very promising.
the Turtles actually do look great in CGI form.
I'm still surprise it'll still take place after the 1991 movie TMNT 2. So does that mean it'll still take place in the 90s if so, it's cool.
the plot to it sounds cool in a way and can't wait to see the final form of the video game when it's ready for release.

Yeah their look is a teenager's look. Only thing I didn't liked, Leo's profile when he look at Mikey... Looked more like a lizard than a turtle... But its nothing too big really.
I watched it again, hell yeah, this is soooooooo good to see. Been awhile
As for the people, I think, (judging from what we saw...) that they will look quite good. Maybe even better looking than humans in other animation movies.
P.S. How do you like my new sig and avy ? :D
Yes, Leo looked a little lean/lanky... and I thought that was cool. They're not overbuilt like the current cartoon. That might be more believable for this format.

Dig the trailer and the game does look freak'n sweet. At last we may have a TMNT game that focuses on being a ninja. Though a 4 player beat 'em up with some style would have been more than acceptable for the Wii.

For anyone who has as much trouble with quicktime as I do, try downloading the quicktime alternative: http://www.codecguide.com/about_qt.htm
I kept checking the site that ninjaturtles.com linked to and was starting to wonder if it'd been nixed because it's NEVER updated, there is ZERO info on it so far as I can tell. But wow.... even just seeing the lettering style/colors made me absolutely giddy (and then I was going crazy trying to make quicktime work ARGH.... ). This will be amazing. I LOVE how it was all serious and then at the very end.....Mikey XDD And is it just me, or do the buildings look a whole lot like those from the arcade game and kinda from the original series? I dunno, it just felt "TURTLES" to me and not just because they're in NY. The angles were fantastic and they weren't just jumping, each of them had individual things they were doing.... looks like they spent a lot of quality time making this teaser, if the movie has the same amount of effort in it it will blow us all away :D
>_> okay they look slightly like frogs facially and younger (even though it takes place after they defeat Shredder so they should be older) and Mikey's voice sounds hoarse. But those are my only complaints o_o (and I disagree, while Mikey's voice in the new series isn't my favorite Mikey voice...even if the character is... I don't think he sounds like the voice in the teaser. Does sound like the voice in the teaser is trying to imitate him though ;p )

(Does 50 back flips) I haven't been to the movies since Shrek 2 came out but March 30 2007 will be the day I compromise my standards! You can never get that kind of movement and effect with live action or even animation. The only thing that could probably ruin this is poor voice casting for the characters:( Anyone have an idea who will be supplyin' the voices for our turtles? I wouldn't mind if they used the same dudes from the current toon. Mike Sinterniklass is the perfect Leo!:tlove:

TMNT
A new CG-animated, PG-rated movie which will derive its tone from the original "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" comic-book series and will be slightly grittier than the previous live-action pictures. Writer-director Kevin Munroe was present and revealed five minutes of footage and confirms the film will feature hidden jokes from the comics and animated series. Mako will voice the character of Splinter, whilst villain Shredder will appear though not in a major role with the main villain being an industrial magnate who has been collecting monsters which he plans to unleash on the city.
Generally though the story will revolve around the return of Leonardo to the group after having been away overseas for a year to train to become a warrior, and how it has affected this rather odd little family. There's also a bat charcter, the return of Casey Jones and April O'Neil, and some female ninjas. Four character posters from the film have gone online at Latino Review. Marco Beltrami did the score for the film. Expect full on interviews with the guys behind the CG-animated epic to be posted up here in the next few days.
plus a new poster and sketch art at superherohype.
in the third image you can see a sketch of Splinter, a turtle in disguise, what looks to be a footsoldier and a sketch of Casey Jones' face. Also from what we heard I am thinking that the girl in the upper left corner may be Karai

This is just too awesome!
I was worried the animation might not be up to par of the bigger CG movies. I mean, this is the first big budget CGI MARTIAL ARTS movie. None of the other big CGI movies had much, if any fighting. I do wish the turtles were a bit buffer. I mean, it takes place after the first 2 movies, shouldn't they look closer to those movies? Besides, they're ninjas, they work out and pratice everyday. I see no reason why they wouldn't be more muscular.
BTW here's a link to a WMV version for those with trouble watching the quicktime version. It's also much better than watching on youtube.

guys listen to the audio interview. he told what the story is about and it sounds awesome.
It uses continuity from the movies, the comics and the cartoons. Leo has been gone a year and the turtles are basically falling apart as a family with no real direction in life. Raphael moreso because he is becoming more frustrated by the fact that they have to stay hidden. Raphael wants a purpose in life basically and he thinks he can have that by being on the streets and beign a hero. Why can we go back in time, fight Triceratons but I can't help this guy above me gettign robbed as Munroe put it. He is becoming like Casey Jones- a violent vigilante.
Splinter does not think thats a good idea for them to do things like that alone and if something needs to be done it should be done together, with all 4 turtles. For teh safety of the team/family. Splinters big problem is that he is afraid that they can't keep it together, that they can't be a family, unless they are fighting someone or something. And get this when Leo returns, he is going to understand what Raph is saying.
And apparently the villain story involves a business man making a monster army: for Karai and the foot clan. Can we say revenge. I can't wait for this film

Hey, who you callin' odd, Garth? :P Good summary.
Thanks muchly to everyone for posting all this stuff.
I am very curious as to what this new score will be like. You can see some of Marco Beltrami's work at his site (http://www.marcobeltrami.com/), including his soundtrack-filled discography (http://www.marcobeltrami.com/wocms.php?siteID=5&lngID=1) and loads of samples (http://www.marcobeltrami.com/wocms.php?siteID=7&lngID=1) (requires Flash 8 ). I remember music figuring very prominently in Hellboy, but I can't say that I remember it as being distinctive to that movie... the way Batman music is distinctively Batman, for example. I want the TMNT to have their own recognizable leitmotifs too. :D But if they don't... meh. I've got my own for them anyway.

That's three movies I'm looking forward to in 2007, Spider-Man 3, TMNT and Transformers.
Speaking off...
Dear Michael Bay,
THIS is how you make a teaser.
Love,
DrSpengler
C'mon, the TF teaser was a good teaser. It teased! They're gonna keep the robots hidden for as long as possible me thinks.
Aw c'mon Spengs, it's like MasterSplinter said... it's meant to tease... he's also gone on record saying he doesn't want anything leaking before the movie... with Turtles there's a specific theme that's always consistant in every vision of the franchise... these Transformers are something new and unique...
Anyway, I'm psyched. The tone is perfectly gritty and moody, something that is so very strong in the first movie and works with the Turtles using shadow for cover with their Ninja training.
The animation is nice and fluid, and they feel like they're got 'mad ninja skilz' (Pardon the l33t) But they can obviously do stuff that the stuntmen (As impressive as they were) couldn't do in the foam suits.
The revised head design looks really good in comparison to the older teaser posters, and even the logo looks good (The one on the old posters was great, but it was taken straight from the cartoon)
My only minor gripe is that the NYPD squadcar (Despite having the official logo, it seems) looks more LAPD... but that's a minor visual thing.
I am very curious as to what this new score will be like. You can see some of Marco Beltrami's work at his site, including his soundtrack-filled discography and loads of samples (requires Flash 8 ). I remember music figuring very prominently in Hellboy, but I can't say that I remember it as being distinctive to that movie... the way Batman music is distinctively Batman, for example. I guess that I will have to wait to watch the trailer when it is presented with Ant Bully. Neither the website or Quicktime would allow me to enjoy the trailer.
to you and anyone else who cant watch the movie, please follow my instructions, because i had the same problem last night.
your most likely using firefox if your getting a message "this trailor requires Quicktime extension 5 to function" or something of that nature.
1. Go to www.quicktime.com and download the latest version [quicktime 7]
2. install it
3. browse to your quicktime folder and inside the plugins folder, locate and delete all the "npqtplugin.dll" and "npqtplugin2.dll" files.
4. browse to your Firefox folder and inside the plugins folder, locate and delete the npqtplugin files just like in step 3.
5. clean out your browsers cache and cookies
6. try the trailor again [btw, even after i did this i had problems in FF, try using IE, sadly it works well in there]

While watching the trailer, I was getting worried that it was going to be a serious dark film, which really doesn't show the true attitude of the TMNT imo. Then, Mikey falls through the garbage and you see that this will have that comical TMNT attitude to it. Great trailer!

After taking a look at the hi-res version of the teaser sneak poster... I'm almost willing to say that some, if not most of the events in the animation have existed since it was revealed in the (last?) SDCC, however bare in mind if there's been commentary on the sneak peak of a teaser ffilm back then... I haven't come across said commentary yet.

Watching it again (and again and again): I love the music, and the face style reminds me a lot of Mikey from the first movie.

Luckoff...FANTASTIC posters and wallpapers! I WANT THEM ALL
I don't know, their arms look thicker than their legs, especially Donny. <- That may be where I'm getting the frog feel XD
The monster army is ehhhh for me. I really liked that the first three movies didn't HAVE to go the route of 'grr, arg, LOOK AT HUGE MONSTERS AND ALIEN SPACESHIP EXPLOSIONS!' Although I think they'll do it well with how much they seem to be fleshing out the character relationships so it's not just going to be a dumb action flick.
I'm psyched to see Karai in this ^_^
I forget if I mentioned but I also really like how they went with BOTH the pupilless eyes AND the pupil eyes... it's weird, but it works the way it's done.

Generally though the story will revolve around the return of Leonardo to the group after having been away overseas for a year to train to become a warrior.
Wait... so Leo's been gone for a year training under Ancient One?! Hmm... wonder if he's in it....

This interview and it is candid and fantastic.
I'm not sure who's talking all the time... it's Kevin Munroe? and who else? One of the producers... Fred Fierst??? ...it's someone who worked on the original flicks.
They mention that when they were developing the look of the film, they were inspired by The Third Man. The Third Man is film noir with great dramatic lighting. (I am a total lighting geek so so this is fab news for me.)

Seriously. In the interview that johnnyblaze posted, Kevin Munroe talks about how they developed the art. At one point he says, "We actually lit the movie as a black-and-white movie before we even added any color to it. We took stills from the the previews that were going through and we created hundreds, I would say easily over a thousand, lighting cues going through[...]. I wanted to be able to-- and I'd still love to do it-- go through and just get freeze frames from the movie, just grab stills, and it should be able to read like a legit comic book[...]." ...and I'm like, well, DO IT!
He also said that they took some clips from the first film and reanimated them in CG to see how well the CG compared... and they might be on the DVD as extras.
People, listen to the MP3 if you haven't yet. It's a huge file, but you should still be able to get it even on dialup... it's worth it. Normally I would do a transcript, but the thing is so freaking long (Kevin Munroe speedtalks!) and my wrists hurt.

Wow that interview was awesome! Kevin Munroe just plain GETS IT! I have full faith in his vision of the TMNT.
I loved how he described the story as "family based". Because in the long run the TMNT ARE a family first and foremost. Just like the first film, it seems that the story will be character based. I'm very psyched by that news.
I also think the story sounds amazing. Prodigal son Leo is away training only to find out that his family is lost. Raphael is secretly joining Casey to fight crime and it seems Don and Mike are focusing their attentions elsewhere. Thus Splinter grows concerned and him and Leo must try to restore unity and vision to the family. All the while a mad industrialist, funded by the Foot Clan, is creating an army of monsters which are threatening the city.
One of the reasons I love this story so much is that it reminds me of my favorite televison show "Six Feet Under". Which was about how the prodigal son Nate returned to his family and how his return influenced the other members. That's the same story being told here!! Those of you who know Six Feet Under certainly know what a great story that was too.
It's also cool that Munroe says that the "PG" rating will be "pushed to the limits" and we can expect Blade/Matrix style action.
Color me excited!
The lighting in this trailer is exactly what NYC looks like at night, including all the light pollution that turns the sky that reddish color and allows you to see everything except what's in the deepest shadows. There's graffiti on the walls here and there where the walls are accessible, but that's the kind of thing you expect. I also spotted some art deco joint covers on an old building, air conditioners in windows, freaking cable tv lines running upside the walls... and curtains. (I swear, most movie producers like to pretend that nobody has curtains even though the windows are viewable by hundreds of people across the street.) If the actual movie maintains this level of detail, I'm gonna be one happy camper.

Too early to tell which will do better, especially since Transformers comes out 4 months later than turtles now.
Transformers has the oppurtunity to be a really really awesome film, but that's all. Pure eye candy and nothing more.
Turtles has the possibility to be anything, but with it being CGI people are going to view it as a cartoon and then mislabel it a kids movie. I don't agree with this point of view, but you know any adult who isn't a geek will only be there because of their kids.
But just from the premise, I don't think this movie will outdo the original. Monsters and no shredder and cgi will just never compare to live action muppet suits in the middle of the street fighting foot soldiers. This is a huge bias on my part though

Assuming there will be an OST and not just a score, is anyone else afraid that they'll go for the same house-music style as the live-action films? Thankfully, they have a clean break since SBK is kaput. But, I'm still fearful that they will try to mirror that aspect. Someone, save me from the teeny-bopper dance music!

I really think it can surpass the original in terms of quality if it focuses on writting, animation, and character development. Besides, monsters and cgi just makes for better looking and more kick ass fight scenes. But in terms of public eyes, it's a diffrent story. Damn nostalgia.
And since this is a continuation from previous films, people who saw them will understand the no Shredder-ness. Plus Kevin said he will appear, just not as the villian, so at least we'll get to see him.
I belive that Transformers will suffer a bit because too much is expected out of it, I think it'll be good, but there will be harsh criticisms if it fails to meet those high expectations(but at least Peter Cullen is voicing Optimus Prime again so, my hopes have been raised again).
With TMNT, it has the potetial to surprise everyone because not much is expected. It could be 2007's big sleeper hit.
I agree, there's a lot of potential here.
And the general public doesn't care about Shredder as much as turtles fans seem to think they do. Even if they know who he is, they're not going to go into this movie expecting the turtles to fight the same villains they've already seen them fight.

I still don't think it can beat the first movie, but that's just due to it being so realistic. Monsters and CGI animation (those sketches of the humans looked very stylistic, cartoony) I just don't think cartoony will beat realism. There's always a chance though! And I do think it'll blow a lot of people away, including myself. But I really do regard the first film in a very high light.
I think it's the opposite of what you said iris. The general public is going to expect Shredder. It'd be like He-Man not fighting skeletor, or Luke Skywalker without Darth Vader. I think that's why they said Shredder will make a cameo (probably setting him up for the sequel). I expect fans are very open minded about who the turtles villain is, as we all know Shredder was never really the main adversary (besides the old cartoon). I'm surprised they picked someone new, but then again the Turtles don't have the healthiest rogues gallery. The cartoon had to take some previously allies and turn them villains, as well as create their own villains. Shredder, Stockman, Ratking, and Triceratons are all that really stand out as most popular to me. (disregarding old cartoon characters that is)

My first impression was the trailer last night. I wasn't able to make the con thursday case of stinking work...they ran me off the universal studios...like the worst more bus-unfriendliest places...
Nothing close to Pixar's quality but it's fine. they look okay, more Mirage than any other incarnation which is cool. I wish they'd researched sai a little better...Raph's moves aren't by the book, unless he's gotten creative and ignored Splinter's training. There's one shot I didn't like, too cartoony...they're dropping down and the way it was done, it was eh...the hesitation in the action and how they dropped was not right.
But for me the most importatnt thing is raph...he looks fine but i can't give a good comment on him yet, I haven't heard him. The 5 min clip they got at the con had dialog....there'll be a Leo/Raph confrontation as usual...YAY...hehe...
Mike....*tsk tsk* what a dork.... :D I wish they'd have had Raph go to the dumpster and say, "You are a moron." and drop the lid on him.
There is one thing, nothing can beat TMNT1..that's is my number one Raph love, none other can replace him.

Just saw this... finally.
I am SO HAPPY. *grin*
True, it does look a little videogame-esque at times (especially when we first see Leo, halfway up his blocky nose), but honestly I don't care. If the plot keeps sounding better as we get more news, I will certainly be excited.
And the animation looks great. The running, the jumping, the... falling into dumpsters... :tlol: Very smooth. Also the camera angles and yes, the lighting. *grin* I expected to wince when Leo turned sideways, but I'm actually OK with the profile. And it started looking much better at that point, because their faces started showing expression and looked more alive.
Final impression: Pixar or Dreamworks it is NOT, but I'm way more excited than I was before today. Finally, the TMNT as they should be. The real trick: getting the general public to take it seriously.
EDIT:
There's one shot I didn't like, too cartoony...they're dropping down and the way it was done, it was eh...the hesitation in the action and how they dropped was not right.I know what you mean... it's a little too cartoony, and mostly Don, spinning and then stopping in midair before dropping out of sight. But that, again, could be them shooting for a dark-but-not-too-dark tone.
MORE DIFFERENT EDIT:
Also, can anyone tell me what happens after the lid falls into place? Is it just the 3-30-07 standard info? 'Cos I spent 3 hours downloading this on dialup, and my connection broke at 97% complete... no ending. And I'm not waiting 3 more hours. :P

Yeah... but you might also say, it's like Spiderman not fighting the Green Goblin. Yet people are not really that surprised or disappointed when other "lesser" villains get the spotlight. Assuming they knew anything about it in the first place... which, even as popular as Spiderman is, they usually don't.
All the same, you're probably right about Shredder's cameo.

Spider-man has more of a rogues gallery where he's not really dependent on one villain. But funny you should use Goblin as so far he's been in both movies in one form or another.
Most non-fans will view this as a brand new movie and not a continuation. Thus they'd expect Shredder in some form.
I'm kind of disappointed on how the humans are going to look in the movie. Not sure I like the style of art they're using, with small upper arms and thighs and huge shins and forearms. Very anime styled, works for the turtles as that's how they were depicted in the first issue, but not so sure about everyone else.

There's lots of possabilities for new villians, even some from other "universes/media." They could always do a stump asteroid story (don't think cudly the cowlick would be good but intersteller wrestling YEAH!) Could always do a lex luthar style Null, The River was an excellant story I'd love to see CGI/animated or live action, loved that giant leech.
Most importantly, you already have the biggest supply of villians you need from two important groups. First and foremost, humanity is the largest group, lots of pool here to pull from. Footclan out of the picture, then create a new organization of elite whatever you wants ranging from martial artists to alien stealing technofreaks (or any combination in between).
I always loved the Frankeinstien portrayal of theme in regards to MOST all of the TMNT stories. Just because they are different humanity tends to be afraid of them, the part about being god and creating life (like movie two where humans created the goo that created the mutation) etc.
The other grand batch to pull from is the TMNT themselves. Why create enemies when you have a great many story arcs already waiting. They each have inner demons they have to overcome, they each have issues with each other. Like the Michaelangelo dream sequence in Turtle Soup (not the 4 part miniseries) Stuff like that composed the original comics. It doesn't have to make sense.
You could even do a living dead vs TMNT just like was done in a few different books/comics.
Above all I want to see blood. I'm tired of colored bandanas and mommy censoring.
I saw the trailer last night. Holy. F***ing. Crap. I love what has been done. The only thing that I have my beef with is, like Buslady, the suspended falling. Too cartoony for my taste. But then again, Mikey's enterence made up for that :tlol:
I knew that this would be good in the end. I don't think anyone is game to kill the return of the turtles to the big screen for their first movie in, what, seventeen years? Dang, that's long... *blinks* I can't wait to see more of this. My eyes and ears are peeled for any infomation that comes my way ;)

Still, all things considered this movie is sounding pretty good. Kinda like the idea of Shredder being a mere cameo and not a full fledged villain. Maybe he'll get to have at least one little fight against somebody.
If that is truly Karai in the art... I wonder how this is gonna be handled? More like the current show or sticking closer to the Karai from the first volume of comics?

Karai is the villian behind the lead villian. She hires him to make the monster army so she can take over the world and revenge the Shredder. So her personality is more like the current show.
Oh  @the re-done trailer

As I've only seen the original cartoon and the movies ...could someone explain Karai to me?
Comics: Karai was Shredder's 2nd in Command and leader of the Foot in Japan. She appears in the middle of the City At War arc where gangsters are trying to become top boss after the death of Shredder. After her daughter is killed by bad guys, Karai makes peace with the turtles. A peace that has lasted for 20 years.
2003 series: Karai is the adopted daughter of The Shredder. She and Leonardo have a love/hate relationship which at the moment is hate. She becomes the new Shredder after the defeat of her father at the hands of the turtles.
Damnit, I had my explanation all typed up and then you posted  Oh well.
Yeah, what she said :D

http://www.evilpenguins.co.uk/turtles.wmv <--- Go here to watch a re-edited version of the trailer that has the old school theme playing in the background. It's freakin hilarious and it feels like the old school theme fits it almost perfectly.
Hah! Not bad. :tlol: It works as it's reminescent of that great broody bit from the original series intro (And probably how the entire series should've looked...)
Eh, It was alright...the plot sounds like absolute crap tho.
"An illegal chemical is developed that ionizes living tissue so that it grows rapidly. In a desperate attempt to dispose of the chemical, several sewage organisms are affected by its disposal. In the aftermath of the incident, new amphibian and reptilian creatures begin to emerge. In particular, a group of Turtles, which adapts to the never ending underground sewage system of New York and begin to train in the fiercest martial arts." (IMDB.COM)
"After the defeat of their old arch nemesis, The Shredder, the Turtles have grown apart as a family. Struggling to keep them together, their rat sensei, Master Splinter, becomes worried when strange things begin to brew in New York City. Tech-industrialist Max Winters is amassing an army of ancient monsters to apparently take over the world." (TMNT.COM)
The IMDB.COM plot seems like crap, but I find the TMNT.COM plot to be intriguing, even if it's only because it isn't as lame as IMDB's.

Indeed, IMDb's information is regularly inaccurate or out of date... so I'd just ignore their synopsis.
Especially when we know the Turtles are already established at the start of the movie. :tlol: :twink:
I just noticed something... maybe someone else has mentioned it too?
It's Raphie... what he lacks in grace, he makes up for in... being a jerk (http://img125.imageshack.us/img125/9273/grace2va8.gif)???
ETA: I love Don & Raph together. In the continuation of that scene, Don does a fancy double-flip manouvre and Raph just kinds of hangs out.

Not sure if anyone was at the Comicon like I was I've been there since Wednesday so please excuse my absence.
Kevin Monroe said that this movie is based on the movie world not the cartoon or anything else. The Movies have become there own version of the turtles amalgamating allot of things into one incarnation of the tmnt.
I saw the trailer it didn't impress me at the auditorium then I saw the exclusive footage he had for us lucky people at the Con! I won't lie to you after it was all shown the monsters, the foot, the snobby rich guy who's hunting for things, Leo and Raph kicking the living crap out of each other, Casey, April, splinter, the rain, the city....I cried.
This movie has my approval 100% it's a beautiful work of art and I HATE CGI so you know this is allot coming from me.
This movie will be taking place after the SECOND MOVIE not the FIRST just so you all know He said it's not like they hate the THIRD movie but it's just not up to stand with the others.
Actually BTW Kevin did not say Shredder will appear in this movie he said if this one does well and they make another he will be in it hopefully.
And when he said this there was a mixed reaction from the crowd just so you all know some booing and some cheering so yes allot of people do like and expect the shredder and some just don't really give a crap they just want the Turtles back on the big screen like myself. He also went on to explain to the crowd in case they had no idea that Shredder was never meant to even be the Turtles main villain because he dies in issue one of the original comics and it was the old cartoon that gave him that status.
Also from what I saw it seems as if they go to a jungle or something like that it could be the start with Leonardo.
He also said they didn't want anything out about this movie they were actually not supposed to show that old poster that was shown to us all before because it looks so bad.
BTW it was Mike in the turtle costume Leo or Don had been talking to him and all you see is his eyes and that he's being spoken to on a head set and its all dark around him with some light on his face...turns out he's got a giant turtle head on and kicks are attacking him with balloon ninja weapons lol!
He also went on to mention that they visit the fans message boards from time to time so you all know they are watching us.
Let me just say The crowed was cheering after this was all shown everyone had a glow on their faces it was such a wonderful thing....I had on a tmnt shirt every day I was there until I left the Con today.
I saw so many people with TMNT shirts and backpacks and whatnot on it makes this 26 year old fan ultra happy to see all of this.
What did not make me happy though was the Con itself it was a big old star wars mess...I mean really how long can they pump this cash cow into the ground?
It's really hard being a turtle fan because besides going to see the new movie clips I'm missing allot from my collection and man are the Turtles frowned upon in the comic book world. When I would ask dealers if they had any ninja turtles they would either say what, laugh at me, say no in a cocky attitude, or scoff at me.
I only found 1 booth that had TMNT comics at the Con a very sad thing.
Kevin said the movie is still in the working stages BTW if anyone wasn't aware of this so it will look amazing when it comes out and I can tell you right now it's going to do very well.
PLAYMATES TOYS better listen up and start coming to this cons they would do allot better morons and they better not FACK up the toys for this movie I'm not kidding.
Also I have the booklet with the art in it is so beautiful I have a few extra I am will to part with but I may put them up on ebay but don't worry I'm gonna scan everything so all the good people of the Drome can see it though :)
I also have some promo iteams sewer lid magnets as well as posters only Don and Leo though they didn't have any Raphs or Mikes for me.

What do the humans look like? It's really my only concern with the new movie.
thanks for the report, look forward to the scans :D
its just a minor nitpick but I'm not too big on the idea of it takes place after 2, its not like 3 would contradict anything...the second one is the more 'childish' one anyway.. plus continuing the movie franchise feels weird counting this one looks totally different anyways....I liked better that just the first movie pretty much happened, only in the cgi style, so they wouldn't have to re-tell an origin story again, and continue on a new alternate universe not really being a split movie timeline,
again that is just random complain, I am psyched about this moviel
yes, I said psyched:oops:

It's basically like if you throw every tmnt world into a blender and what comes out is this movie it's basically the best blend of everything I can think of.
The trailer is very miss leading btw the movie seems to be allot of dialogue, very dark, action packed, and allot of crazy stuff I'm sure there will be something for everyone.

I caught the turtle jumping off the shell the first time I watched the trailer. I never bothered to slow it down to see which turtle it was, I just thought it was a really neat touch. For some reason I always zone into that part whenever I watch the trailer just because I like it so much, and miss everything else going on while raph's jumping off donny. Probably not missing much, but they loaded so much sweet eye candy into the teaser that sometimes you do miss stuff.
I tried slowing down the papers floating across while the turtles go into the sewer, because I thought it might have been a page from the old comic or something, but I couldn't tell.

It all went by so quickly sorry I'm just trying to remember it all.
They are on the roof top and Leo says something to Raph about acting like part of the team (whats new) and Raph gets all ticked and they go back and forth it's an intense battle between the 2 brothers and I'm pretty sure Leo wins kicking the living crap out of Raph.
And I'm pretty sure Raph goes off on his own after all this I can only guess this is what happens and he is the one in the armor shown in the toy section of this site if I can recall it all correctly because Raphs always the one on the bike.

The 2nd film is my favorite out of all the TMNT movies. The first one feels like a dark film stuck in a kids movie. They tried to make it dark but in the end it ends up being to goofy. I don't care what you think I thought Feldman sucked as Don. He doesn't sound anything like I'd imagine Don sounding.
As much as I like both films the first movie just lacked alot of things that makes the TMNT, well intresting. Danny being one of the most annoying things about that film.
Atleast in TMNT 2 they made it fun. They didn't try and toss in needless dark undertones and realized it was just a kids film. And that to me made it a better movie.
Extra mutants are always cool, and Shredder was just way more evil. Yeah so Ice was in it, so what? That doesn't mean it's a bad film.

I'll have to disagree with you on that. Ice was way cooler than the sawtooth helmet. I still think the helmet from vol.1 and the old cartoon is the best Shredder helmet.
It was a joke.
Anyway, further thinking on it, to me the best part of the second flick was the beginning fight scene. The way the turtles played with the criminals, showing their superiority (and confidence) over them, was hilarious.

Bear in mind I am aware that everyone is entitled to their own opinion but... ARE YOU SERIOUS? The second film was a goofball disaster that was as unTMNT as I could imagine (well except maybe The Next Mutation). At least the first one followed the overall comic storyline. They didn't even use weapons in part 2! They didn't have Casey Jones! Tokka and Rahzar were useless and designed for 6 year olds! I could go on forever.

You are correct, Mr. Bunny, sir. An interview with Peter Laird on NinjaTurtlesNetwork a few years ago said this. I believe he mentioned the lack of weapons scenes in there as well, citing it as being due to idiots who insisted they knew what was best for the movie. If they thought that weapons fighting and vigilanteism was innapropriate for kids, why did they ever include Vanilla Ice? He was NEVER for kids, preaching about drugs and gang violence in his most notorious track. So, TMNT II was the product of hypocrites. But, it was a fun movie that grossed more than the first. Unfortunately, I don't recall hearing anything about why Feldman wasn't involved. As much as I didn't care for his characterization of Don, I HATE when any kind of actors are switched out. Now that I think of it, maybe Elias (CJ) was out for 'Look Who's Talking Too', but that wouldn't have been reason enough for a rewrite. And, I believe Judith Hoag (April in the first movie) was voted of the island by test audiences for not being hot enough.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree but...wow.
And may I ask what masterpeice movies you watch? If you like I can mock your movie tastes as well.
Kid like, 6 year olds...hmm maybe that would be due in part to the fact that it's a KIDS MOVIE. TMNT is not made for 20 year olds whos till watch TMNT*not that, that is in any way bad* but it's made for kids. I don't care how you pick the damn thing apart TMNT 1 is just as much of a kids movie as TMNT 2.
So it has dark untones big deal, so what? The movies to me were more like the cartoon. The first movie always reminded me of "The Return Of Shredder" episode in the old series.
You gota realize that when the first film was made PG carried alot more. Raph saying "Bitchin" and "Damn" and the violence. Think that went over well with parents? They were most likely forced to make a formula change. Why else wouldn't they use weapons? Well as often they still use them.
The costumes, voices, and presentation was better in 2. I don't really care if 1 had a better story, because to me 1's story isn't in any way orginial.
So stop acting liek TMNT is for adults because it isn't. You want adult TMNT then only read the comics because TMNT is for kids, and always will be. Didn't start that way yes but "Things Change"
So it has dark untones big deal, so what?
Support: Grimm's Fairy Tales were for adults!
Sarcasm is fun.

I actually like the Tokka and Rahzar that was in an ep of the original animated series. They were zoo animals who were accidentally mutated like a year before (NYC didn't have a zoo anymore or something cuz all the animals were now mutated *L*). They were very intelligent and Rahzar even had a bit of a British accent.

Thank's for the info Putrescent. Did anyone else go to comic-con and see this extra footage?
O, and Putrescent, how did the turtles voices sound?
sounded like the voice actors for the tv show pretty much or very close to anyways.
Why are you people dissing the Ice Man? Mr Van Winkle was probably the best thing about Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II. Maybe even the only good thing. It was a pretty crappy movie, but the Vanilla Ice scene is pure classic cheese.
Go ninja, go ninja, go! (http://youtube.com/watch?v=WXrAqeAMyho)
To quote the talented Mr. Joss Whedon: "I likes me some cheese."
oh please spare me that load of bullcrap...they only had him in the movie because he was trendy at the time. If it was now they would have some other dissposable rapper in the movie like fidddittyy cent or Piddly daddy puffie duffy doddle I killed biggy smally wally.
The Second movie is fine give or take a few things....but Ice is hardly far from the best thing abou that movie.
Oh god I wish I was there.
Roof with a beam of light coming out eh....do you think theyr'e gonna bring the Utroms into this some how.
I believe it to be the rich hunter guys roof, I very well could be wrong it was silver and metalish looking and it opend up like a camera lense. It very well could be the foot or the monsters or something.
any more questions?

You know what, I'm ****ing tierd of everyone saying TMNT is for kids only, eyes, they're characters that everyone can enjoy, but no, thanks to that damn 80's show, everyone just thinks of them as kiddie crap. I seriously hope this movie removes that stigma. batman shook his, why shouldn't the TMNTR be able to.
Oh, and TMNT 2 sucked flat out. The only thing that was better in 2 was Don's voice. But other than that, it blew. Shredder was nothing but a punk, Tokka and Rahzar were usless, and sorry to sound like a broken record but, the scene with Vanilla Ice killed the whole movie.
1 was the superior, the other 2 I consider to be embarsments. 1 had the better writting, the characters were better represented, and rather than send stupid mutants out to do his fighting, Shredder kicked ass himself.
Not to mention Casey Jones was in it.
Duh. I was just being Captain Deadpan, dude. ;)
Oh, I see. Forgive me for not picking up on your Mulder. :P
And I always looked at it that Tokka and Rahzar were facsimiles of Bebop and Rocksteady, due to the insurmountable similarities.

Uh yeah the 80's show kinda shifted it to Kids. As you might be well aware of 90% of the TMNT media is for children. Deal with it.
And I honestly don't care if you don't like it. As I said before I could probly rip into your movie tastes as well. If you would like I can gladly. Movie sounds awesome, I can't wait to see it.
I hope the voices sound good (and I'm praying that Mikey sounds more like he did in the other movies...I don't love how he sounds in the new toon...).
As for the second movie thing...
I'm also disappointed that this movie will be taking place after it, since it was my least favorite of the three. I thought it was horrible compared to one, and way too childish.
The first movie was for everyone, not just for kids, and I feel the same applies (to a lesser extent) to the new toon as well.
The second movie was for kids (and I personally feel that applies to the old toon as well), and the third...well I liked it, but I think that was aimed more for kids too.
I want this new movie to be like the first one, a great film for everyone to enjoy...not watered down garbage like the second film was. And from the looks of that trailer, and from what we've been hearing, it does sound like we'll be getting a fantastic movie.

And the whole 100-second long Super Shredder scene was kinda lame. It seems that the more powerful he becomes, the more stupid he starts to be - just like in the TMNT anime episodes.

The thing is, 50 Cent isn't cheesy. He's just untalented. Same thing about P. Diddy. They're both awful rappers, but none of them is charmingly cheesy. Vanilla Ice, on the other hand, is cheesy in a wonderful way - much like the '60s Batman parody TV series or David Hasselhoff's singing. The Vanilla Ice scene in TMNT2 is funny. The rest of the movie was complete bullcrap, much like 50 Cent or P. Diddy.
Fiddy is bullcrap. Ice is cheese. I like cheese.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 1
Comic Book: The Movie
Clerks

Well telling me a movie I like sucks would in fact be ripping on my movie tastes I must say.
TMNT 1 is just as much of a kids film as the 2nd movie I really don't see how you don't notice this. I like the movies on your list *Never seen Comic Book movie though* And that Batman movie was eh...didn't realy dig it all to much.
So yeah we like the same movies what I can see, which is nice, but I really don't see how hard it is to either agree or accept that TMNT is NOW for kids. What it once was really doesn't matter anymore.
When you ask the average person on the street if they think TMNT is for kids or adults guess what answer your going to get? Honestly no one but the fans read those comics or even know about them. Most people only know of TMNT as a show from the late 80's and 90's and a toyline.
It's not just marketed at kids it is for kids. If Fast Foward isn't enought o convince you I don't know what is.
Anyways I'm done argueing with you. I liked TMNT 2, you thought it sucked, what ever. I think TMNT is for kids, you think it's for adults, what ever. Were not gona change the one anothers mind so I'm just gona drop it. And sorry if I upset you, I don't want to seem like an ass or anything, I just get a little razzled when people act like TMNT is this big adult thing when in reality it's for the kids. And I also don't really like it when people say a movie isn't good over one scene. You just happened to be the person I called on it.

That's the thing, I don't think TMNT is purley for adults. I think it's for everyone. Just like every other marketed hero. Adults can appreciate the great writting and characters, and kids can appreciate the fact that thyere mutant ninja turtles.
I'm sorry if I came off like an ass, but some of my words you were twisting around. For the record, the Vanilla Ice scene wasn't the only problem I had with the movie, just the top one.
And I recomend trying to find Comic Book the Movie, it's a direct-to-DVD, but it's really good, you'd like it, I mean, if you love comics books, cartoon voice actors, and Mark Hamill.

Cool, rumble in the jungle, turtle style.
Plus, if they do a sequal, they can make it so on there way back to the states, they hop on a flight, but bring back some unwanted slithering reptilian visitors from the jungles. Then it becomes the TMNT vs......SNAKES ON A PLANE!

It looks like Raphael and Donatello have brown eyes as well. the artist who is doing the comic adaption drew Mikey with blue eyes as well.

I noticed that from the posters and the trailer. Has me wondering if maybe Raph also has hazel or brown eyes, and maybe Don has blue or grey eyes. (No reason to think that; just wondering.)
Man, the turtles have really good dental habits. ;)
I don't think it really matters what color eyes they have. Honestly, the only reason why Leonardo has brown eyes is because his bandana is blue, and any color other than brown or black wouldn't mix well. Green is close to a blue, and, well, blue is... blue.
Same thing with Mikey. Orange is a derivative of brown, so he'll have either blue eyes or hazel.
I think you're exactly right, Krow. I'm not good with colors though.

its not like I was saying anything negative or something like that--its just a fun little detail I saw

Oh, I know. No harm done. Basically I was just dreading a whole hoopla about the color of their eyes and what it means and such. Some of us here tend to get carried away about trivial things like that.

Heh, I agree. And I also think they were just drawn that way because it was more 'aesthetically pleasing' with the colors and all.
That, and they change ALL the time.
