Oh, and welcome back, Azure. :D We missed you.
i bet getting the transcript is going to be a pricey number, they don't come cheap...good luck Kali and don't forget..have fun!
Azure! Welcome back from the depths of space...many welcomes...how was the holidays? get any mangos??? :D
Actually, I'm going down to my HS tomorrow to pick my transcript up for free. Since I'm going back to school (after graduating in 2000), it's free. At least that's what the lady said on the phone. Usually they're $5. The problem was that the school has been on vacation the last two weeks, so I had to wait. :P

oh yes, the waiting can be a pain and then some, yeah...everytime you enroll for a new school you always need a transcript from each, and they don't come cheap as you go along further in the schooling food chain.
not fun.. :dead:

I go back for my second semester this Monday. I'm kind of looking forward to getting back. After New Year's, the holiday, as it is, is pretty much over. That and the parents start to get annoying. The only bad thing about starting a new semester is the cost of all the books you have to buy. Jeez, do colleges think we're made of money or something?
Anyway, I am looking forward to the second semester.

Thank you, thank you. Holidays were busy, as always. Nope, no Christmas mangos. I did have a bit of eggnog, though. :anime:
Oy, I hear ya NTCF. Text books cost a small fortune. :dead:

Oowee! Classes begin on the 13th for us here too. I'm just working on a Masters degree, so I just take two night classes a week. One is about how to use MacroMedia Director (a program kinda like Flash), and another class covers digital sketching. I hope we learn how to use the Wacom pad in that class too! :D

Forgive me for asking this, HT... But what's a Wacom??

It's a... *stops a minute to think of the best way to describe the thing*
It's a 'digital board' that you can draw on. With this, you pretty much bypass the need for paper, pencil, ink, and a scanner. Unfortunatley, I don't have this on my home PC yet.

:D Gotta love that cool technology! Seen many of the Transfans put the things to good use on their art forums too.

Does this mean you'll be sketching a few turtles with the Wacom, HT? ;)

Hi everyone!
wow, things have really been flying around here!
Well, i start up on the 20th, so that's when i'll be returning. heh, start my new major in Writing.... :D gonna do pre-cal, psychology, fiction writing, Karate and voice :thyper: looking forward to it. My only worry is of getting another psycho-maniacal 'funtime' boozer freak.... :dead: heh, we'll see what happens....

Hiya Machias! So you're going with the English major, eh? Very good choice, me thinks. :D Hope to see you around soon!
Hey, Machias, glad to hear you'll be back.
Well, you can scratch my start date, all the classes I wanted were full, I'll have to wait until next semester to start unless I get lucky and someone drops out before classes start.

Awww... that sucks, Kali. I remember those back-ass crazy enrollment days when I was an undergrad freshmen too.
WWow, now you're going for an English major, Machias? Fascinating... maybe I should have been more bold when I was in college to switch to somehting with a better career. Not that I hated the horses or anything...
I'm feeling a lot better about it now, though. What would really suck would be if I got the class and had to miss a lot of classes or totally drop it because I have to get surgery or something. So if I'm able to, I'll be reapplying for the summer semester, and I won't procrastinate this time! Maybe I'll even go down and show off my sketchbook and get out of the prerequisites. :D

01-15-2003, 09:31 PM
Aww... But I'm glad you're determined to stick with it, Kali! Ooh... I'd like to see your sketch book. :anime:
Eh, it's just the same stuff I have up on my site. :) I really should do more "sketching" in my sketchbook, take practice tips from my comic art books and draw each body part by itself over and over instead of the whole figure all the time.
azure turtle
01-16-2003, 07:32 PM
I think your drawing style is already very good, but I guess it's even better to constantly push yourself to reach new heights. :D Ah, so the drawings on your site come from the sketchbook. Total coolness. I was looking at your sketchbook the entire time, and had no idea. :embarass:
Uh huh. Some pics come straight from my sketchbooks, others don't, and there are pictures I've yet to show anyone. o.O But I started my "part by part" regime today, starting with eyes. Then I realized that I already knew how to draw really good eyes, so I switched to hands, which will take time since my character range from having three to five fingers.
HorseTechie
01-17-2003, 12:56 PM
Hrmm.. yeah, I noticed myself, that it seems harder to draw a hand with five fingers, as opposed to Turtle hands.
But I love the classes I have this semester now. One class is actually about learning how to make 3D art with the Maya program, and then anther class is all about sketching properly. It was titled as Digital Sketching, but the prof wants us to do more of the real sketching with charcoal and the 18X24 size sketch pads. Hence, gotta know how to sketch first before doing it digitally. The funny thing, is that his definition of sketching means using your whole body to quickly scrawl out all the detals you can see without wasting much time on the nitty gitty things that "drawing" entails. Fun, fun! :D

Maya! That's what the dudes at Pixar use. A special guest speaker came to our campus to lecture on using Maya. He worked on Monsters Inc. Too bad I couldn't attend his guest lecture... :(

Eh... College is a combination of fun and work. You just have to learn how to balance the two. :)
As for me, I'm a second year right now. Looks like I'll be here for a while. :embarass:

College sucks, I skip almost every class except for my Pre-Civil War US history class. Next semester I'm going to load up on history courses so I will actually want to go.
