View Full Version : Giving Credit Where Credit is Due: The VA Thread
The Big Bad
07-31-2006, 05:51 PM
Since neither 4Kids nor the official site post credits for the characters (outside the main ones, anyway), I thought it'd be a good idea to do it ourselves, to finally give credit where credit is due.

No Idea, Fast Forward
• Jammerhead (same guy that does Jenko; aside from that, no idea):
• Head Inuwashi Gunjin (same guy who does Head Guardian):
A short explanation: Both "confirmed" lists are, as the name implies, for characters whose voice actors have been confirmed beyond the shadow of a doubt. The "needs confirmation" list is for characters who have been credited for certain voice actors in sites like IMDB; since those sites aren't always accurate, I'm waiting for confirmation from other people before I place them in the confirmed list. The "No idea" group is for characters who have never been linked with any VA. As more characters are added to the "Confirmed" list, I'll begin adding more the the "no idea" one.
So, contribute! If you think a particular character sounds like some other character, say so. If you have the slightest idea of who Karai's voice actress is, then by all means, mention it. Theories, ideas, and supposition--all are accepted. If you have anything at all to say about the VA's working on the show, talk about it here.

Serling: Marc Thompson
How'd you find all these out??? I mean come on... Casey and Uncle Auggie being the same person?? That's kinda...weird for April.... And does Cody know that his robot is his great-grandfather and great-great uncle??

Constible Biggles? WTF! Theres another reason why I refuse to watch Fast Foward.
Anyway, Greg Carey also does Leatherhead. And I think Traximus too.

Karai's VA has always been a mystery to me. When I first saw City at War it truly sounded like the same actress 4Kids had voice Ishizu Ishtar on Yu-Gi-Oh (Kayzie Roger). But I've never seen that confirmed anywhere; heck, the only two people I've seen credited for Karai's voice are Kathleen Delaney and Nicole Dooley... and the same website listed them both as Karai's voice actress for all three episodes of City at War. Curiouser and curiouser...

Odd... Kathleen Delaney isn't credited with being in TMNT at the Wikipedia page. Her real name is Caren Manuel (Yay! An actress with the same first name as me!). She's more known as the VA of Rouge the Bat. She's also Darcy in Winx Club.
Nicole Dooley is as mysterious as Karai. There appears to be 3 actresses with that name.

Three of them? :-? Well, that certainly adds to the confusion...
Well, here's the site that I found crediting the two as the VAs for Karai.
http://voices.fuzzy.com/show.idc?show_id=6930
Only gets stranger though. Checking out the two VAs pages at that site says they also provided the voice of Karai in "Secret Crisis on Infinite Worlds..." Whatever that is. Granted, up until recently that website could have records and information added by anybody checking it out, so the information could be taken with a grain of salt.
Maybe it's one of the people listed here under additional voices.
http://www.voicechasers.com/database/showprod.php?prodid=10
Either way I'm certainly gonna start checking out some 4Kids shows to see if I can pick up on any voices that sound familiar.

In case you wanted to know who Darius Dunn is... according to Cody's bio (from the packaging of the action figure), Darius Dunn is Cody's over protective uncle.
So it'll be interesting when we all get to meet Uncle Darius.

Raph's Girl: How'd you find all these out???They were in his resume, found in his webpage (http://http://www.mtvoices.com/page/page/1507865.htm). The man's really quite versatile, and in more stuff than one would think. For an amusing demo of his work, go here (http://marcthompson.interactivevoices.com/).
Okay, I downloaded a demo from Tara Jayne/Sands' website, and yeah, I think there's no doubt that she plays Angel.
As for Leatherhead, are we talking about his original voice or his Season 4 voice? I'm 90% certain that his Season 2-3 self is played by Carey, but there's also stuff like this article (http://www.hendersondispatch.com/articles/2004/07/10/news/news01.txt) to consider, which credits Frederick B. Owens for Leatherhead. I'd be willing to consider that the article is mistaken, except that it seems seems pretty well-researched, and because I can also buy Owens as Leatherhead (he does a couple of characters on other shows with voices similar to Leatherhead's). Ditto for Traximus.
Leonardo Mystic:[...]the Ultimate Ninja is voiced by Ed Paul. What are you basing this on? Given how unreliable and editable some of the those sites can be, I'm hesitant to place him as "confirmed" until I've heard some of his other characters. On that note, I've been listening to one of his other credited roles, Sigma 6's Storm Shadow (althought, that, too, is in doubt, since I've seen the character credited to at least three different actors), and, while the character sounds similar to The Ultimate Ninja in spots, he also sounds different enough from him that I wouldn't be able to make assertions either way. Anybody care to give it a listen to confirm/deny? You can find several samples here (http://s6c.joebattlelines.com/series/episode10.htm).

Is is possible that Greg Carey did Leatherhead in season 2-3 and F.B. Owens did Leatherhead in season 4??

Ohhh, Marc (Casey)'s the one who did the voices in Daria. I knew his name sounded kinda familiar!

What? I'd assumed that the actor who portrays Donatello also plays Cody Jones...Seeing as how they sound almost identical.

did Marc Thompson voice Draco?? Are you sure about that??
Drtooth

Eric Stuart isn't listed anywhere on there. I want to say he's the voice of Genosuke. He was also the conman in the Nano episode, I think... Haven't seen it for a while.
Mike Pollack also did the voice of the scientist on notes from the Underground, and the VO for the triceriton News Reel.

I'm pretty sure Jason Griffith does Jammerhead.

Ted Lewis I believe is another name Ed Paul uses, but he is the voice of the Ultimate Ninja and I know this because I met Paul at Animenext two year ago.
Kind of like how John Campbell also uses Frank Frankson (which leads to confusion)
Karai I believe if I am remembering what Mike Sinterniklaas told me correctly has actually been voiced by two different women because her original voice actress moved away in the midst of the show and they had to switch. Mike also does the voice of Parker from the Monster Hunter episode if you want to list that.
Also to answer your The Ancient One question Wayne Grayson is pretty certain he is played by a guy named David Chen.

I always thought Scott "Baxter Stockman" Williams was the VA for Silver Sentry.

Reflections upon seeing the Lost Season. Semi-spoilers ahead.

Okay, the first Leatherhead VA is definitively Greg Carey, what with Hun also being recast in the Lost Season (which carried over to FF). It's a damn shame, really--while Leatherhead's alternate voice is adecuate, Hun's replacement is kinda horrible.
Karai? Definitively Kayze Rogers. Her cries for help in New World Order pt. 1 are pure Vivi. Have to say I'm surprised, thought--I'd heard speculation that Rogers voiced Karai before, but I'd dismissed it based on Rogers' generally subpar performance as Vivi.

Vivi subpar? That's the understatement of the decade.
I thought Traximus might be Michel Alston Bailey. But all those gruff voices in NY sound the same so I'm not entirely sure.
