Remember back when we found about about how the Ninja Tribunal storyline would be only shown on DVD and not aired, due to the airing of Fast Forward. Well, the fact that 4kids is going to air the Lost Season says something. Maybe they think it does have potential and it will be extended beyond just 13 episodes. Here's hoping. I just think that it says something really positive the fact that it is going to be aired and we (not all of us) can see it now instead of waiting for the DVD set.

Indeed, a test run may also indicate they themselves hate the way "Fast Forward" turned out on screen and promptly gagged with the rest of us, there testing the season on Demand

Lets go air TMNT:NT ONLY for Comcast customers yeah that makes sense.

So how exactly is the lost season going to be shown? Is it just a few episodes, or the entire 13 episodes? I don't want to read much of the other thread because it's filled with spoilers and I don't want to read any spoilers whatsoever.

Gary

Then skip over them because they're easy to spot. The thread doesn't know. It only has three listed episdoes. They just appeared on Comcast yesterday.

If the Lost Season is a success (DVD sales better be awesome), and if the new movie is a success, then Fast Foward may only be a single season.

If the Turtles in the present makes a lot of revenue for 4kids, they can simply have them return to the present in the Season finale of Fast Foward.

That way Season 6 can pick up where we left off. (although if that happens, you can bet Cody and Serling will make their occasional time travel episodes to the past...)

Yeah, I could see that happening. Cody would want to see what the past is like, and Serling would feel like he was forced to come along.:D

Not to mention Cody could meet his great grandparents, and the ones who found his company.

Let's just hope the show doesn't get cancelled this year...considering there are no plans for a Season 6 yet...

Wouldn't it be great if Laird did FF this way just to show them how the show could be worse and it's fine the way it is....what a horrible but effective way to teach someone a lession.

I don't think Laird wants his own franchise to crash and burn, so no.

He may never have an opportunity to get another TMNT cartoon on the air after this, he's probably hoping this continues for a long time.

That'd be cool, especially if they showed up and COdy was grown up and serling's charcater model was changed to be "upgraded" or something.

Even if this one goes, the Turtles are a 20 year old property that still makes money, it's like SPider-man or Batman, the Turtles will definately have more incarnations in the future.

They won't extend TLS past 13 episodes since all (or nearly all) the work on them is done and the current focus is FF.

That said, as CyberCubed said, if the ratings are good and (more importantly) if DVDs sales for TLS are fantastic and the movie does well then we may see FF confined to one season only and the TMNT return home at the end with a new modern day status quo set up for season 6 (or 7, or whatever subtitle they want to give it!).

Ugh. I cannot express how much I hope that doesn't happen. I'm hoping to rid my mind of any evidence of that awful little boy ever existing as soon as possible. I'd think they'd want to get far away from FF. I know I sure can't wait to.

As for DVD sales being good... They have to SELL the DVDs everywhere for them to sell well. No one has sold them near me since before the Donatello spine picture came about. No Best Buy, Target, Circuit City or Walmart carries them here. That fact doesn't bode well for me, for the DVD sales. If it were equally distributed, I'd feel alot better about it.

Well if it makes you feel better Jo all the Best Buys and Wal-marts where I live get them and sell out of them quite often. They even order some of the old DVDs sometimes and those sell out the fastest.

Yeah, that's good to hear. I pretty much figured that it was just this area that sucks. 'Cause, ya know... we do.

it means nothing. they paid to produce the episodes, they'd be stupid to not take advantage of them. there are comercials for the dvd's in the on demand episodes, it's just good marketing.

also, good job judging cody as a "terrible little boy" before any of us has seen a single episode of fast forward. all the stuff you guys are saying about characters we haven't seen in action yet sounds ridiculous. i wasn't crazy about the fast forward idea, but there is still the chance that it could incorporate a lot of volume 4 and be awesome.

also, it was always planned as being one season, so after it's over don't try and pull some stupid "see? they're finally listening to us and realized how dumb the idea was!" crap.

I love you Zarius, hehe.

Yeah, we've seen two eps of this Fast Forward drivel, and I have never wished for a show to be over as much as I have thus far. *shrugs* Opinions differ. But, cormano, we've seen two eps. of the show, both filled with the annoying unwanted presence of the child, so...

...

I hate Cody.

Lets go air TMNT:NT ONLY for Comcast customers yeah that makes sense.

TELL me about it! We don't even GET Comcast in my area; our cable provider is called Charter Communications, which is okay with a LOT of the channels they show, but for some VERY weird reason, doesn't do well with Fox Network, which is what 4Kids is broadcast on. Translation: the picture on Fox/4Kids is sometimes pretty grainy, will stations like NBC, CBS and ABC pictures are all perfect. It sucks, sometimes. Shell, my kingdom for a Dish Network or DirectTVsatellite provider..........!

Btw, wouldn't this kinda be discrimination, 4Kids releasing this to Comcast and NOT every OTHER kinda TV provider?:-? Sure seems like it to me!:P

Let's just hope the show doesn't get cancelled this year...considering there are no plans for a Season 6 yet...

Uh, wrong-o, Ringo. I e-mailed Dan Berger awhile back (in February of this year, to be exact) to ask HIM about this very subject, and THIS is the reply that he sent me (gotta love copy/paste for this kinda thing!):

Question from me:
Is Season Six (IF there's going to be one!) in preproduction already?

His reply, and I quote:
As far as I know, the story line for season six has been completed and the scripts may have been started.
End quote.

HOWEVER, he ALSO "told" me the following:
Quote:
I doubt that much work will progress on it until 4Kids can gauge the popularity of the "Fast Forward" direction.
End quote.

So, what I got from THIS statement is that Fast Forward is going to have to do well for the Season 6 that Dan mentions here ever being made OR aired. So we need to SUPPORT "FF", rather than dissing it, IF we want the series, in WHATEVER form, to continue on for awhile. I know that I certainly want to see that. What about you guys?

They won't extend TLS past 13 episodes since all (or nearly all) the work on them is done and the current focus is FF.

That's odd. I thought that I'd heard (or read) somewhere that Peter was paying to have 26 episodes made for the Lost Season himself, and NOT just 13, so that it would be a full season. Maybe I'm crazy.................

(Heh, no secret there. I'm crazy more than half the time. :P ;) )

Heh if I was Peter Laird, that's what I would do!!! We can only hope....

"I doubt that much work will progress on it until 4Kids can gauge the popularity of the "Fast Forward" direction. " ...I dunno, what I get from that is that they're planning to keep the show going either way but "the FF direction" fails then they'll go back to the old direction. I emailed him to ask what the best course of action would be.

If FF tanks then the whole show ends here, no matter how much of a success the new movie is.

For all intents and purposes 2007 could be the final year of TMNT animation. Then we go a long stretch like we did from 1996 (original cartoon) to 2003 (new show) as we wait for some other company to make a new TMNT cartoon.

However since the 2k3 series bombed in the ratings and failed to recapture the audience of the original show, it is doubtful that we'd get another cartoon anytime soon.

Laird was not going for the audience of the 80s series. He was trying to make a better cartoon for the ages. And he did a good job, until now.

Have you noticed, that peope are saying THIS is more like the old one than the 2K3 series, and it SUCKS HORRIBLY. (Not comparing personally, just saying I've heard the similarities compared)

That should say something.

By recapturing the original audience I meant people like us. People who watched the original show as kids and are now teens or in their twenties.

Only some of us, (basically the hardcore TMNT fandom) were recaptured with the new show. The majority of people who watched the original show never gave the new one a second chance.

They said it sucked as soon as Season 1 aired simply because it didn't have Krang/Bebop/Rocksteady and wasn't exactly like the old cartoon, yadda yadda, we all heard this before.

At the same time, it also failed to attract new kids. This is why the show failed on CN and only got decent ratings on 4kidsTV. How many 8 year olds nowadays are watching TMNT? I'm not sure how many. The kids I see nowadays are interested in the anime on Cartoon Network, not TMNT.

Well, where I live, the kids and teens were all about TMNT.

This show was highly superior to, um... other incarnations (gotta watch my wording). I started watching this hoping for vast improvement, and I was only slightly disappointed (I'd have preffered it be more adult than it was).

Oh well, they had their chance. Maybe next time, in a few years, people will stop crying about not having certain older characters and realize that it was far better lacking them. Then we can have another shot at a great cartoon.

My guess as to why TMNT doesn't have a big enough audience is because they haven't had a movie since 1993, and the only reasons superheroes are so popular is because of their movies.

Bottom ine, we just have to pray TMNT does for the turtles what Batman Begins did for Batman. I highly doubt it will do as good as Spider-Man, but if it gets people intrested, then maybe the show will still be around for a while longer. And thats all that matters.

For the benefit of a healthy body, say Next Mutation.

But I'm one of few who is perfectly fine with the show ending, we've had five great seasons, not bad for a show that was a "ratings disaster", Cyber's going too far in trying to justify the usefullness of FF, we don't need the show to continue and at this present stage I would'nt want it to, especially if 4Kids think FF is worth keeping around

Sage Ninja
08-15-2006, 02:15 PM
actaully I would like it to continue after season five/six. Because I think there is still so much they can do character wise in the new show, that I haven't seen yet. I was loveing what was happening with leonardo in season four and I would have liked to see some more character development and tribulations for the other turtles to over come. And so far really only Leonardo has been given that.

I did get some of those rare comedy shorts, but did'nt look around long enough to see if they had the Lost Season, sorry.

Torrent sites don't have it either...yet they can perfectly leak out UA II before a premiere release, go figure.
