Well, there are screenshots available, which means that either there is a video file of the episode, either there is a camera to take the shots with. Seeing the quality of the shots, I'd say that the screenies are made from a video file, which of course could be shared in many ways, if only the one possessing it wishes so...

Ya know.. on the one hand incorporating Asian mythology into a show is a good thing....but making benevolent creatures into monsters? I bet when this ep airs in Japan everyone will be furious that the beloved Baku has been turned evil.

And Shodo? All I can find is a reference to a Shodo Shonin, a saint.

Baku (from Wikipedia. Encyclopedia Mythica has some of the same info):

Baku ("dream eaters") are spirits found in Chinese and Japanese mythology. They are generally pictured as chimeras, either with the head of an elephant and the body of a lion or with the head of a lion, the body of a horse, the tail of a cow, and the legs and feet of a tiger. Alternatively, they may be more pig- or tapir-like creatures that range in color from black to pink.

Baku are generally benign creatures who aid human beings by eating nightmares or the evil spirits that cause such dreams. Sometimes they do this unbidden, but other legends require a nightmare sufferer to awaken and call upon a baku to eat his dreams. According to some beliefs, baku can change eaten dreams to good luck. Other tales make the baku more troublesome, eating all dreams and thus depriving sleepers of their beneficial effects, or simply awakening sleepers and depriving them of sleep in general.

Basically Baku is the Japanese version of the Native American Dream Catcher (I have a red Native American Dream Catcher that was given to me by a Native American friend :D )

Shodo (From Encyclopedia Mythica):
A famous Japanese saint, founder of the temple at Nikko. One day while walking a mountain path, Shodo noticed that his way was blocked by a raging river. He prayed for a bridge and suddenly a giant appeared, dressed in blue robes with a garland of skulls around his neck. 'Here is your bridge,' the god roared, and threw two snakes, one blue and one green, across the river. The saint, unafraid, walked along the snakes' back across the river. The moment he set foot on the other side, the god and the snakes disappeared.

For example, "Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon" means "Beautiful Young Girl Soldier Sailor Moon". Maybe it's actually "Shocho"... Damn their inability to pronounce things correctly/consistently! :roll:

Shocho isn't from mythology tho! It's just an era (1428-1429) in Japanese history! :lol:

Shoujo has many different meanings... some of it from Buddhist myth...but it has nothing to do with a snake creature....

These eps are airing on Comcast Digital Cable's On Demand service.

It's a way cool service where you can watch shows anytime you want, pause em and stuff and it's 98% ad free (there's like 1 commercial)
