View Full Version : TMNTOS Character Sheets

It seems to me that two computer crashes ago I had the original TMNT series' official character sheets downloaded from who knows where. It's now several years later and I tried looking everywhere for them. I think it might be the kind of thing that fans aren't supposed to have, but you can find Disney characters sheets easily enough. Does anybody have those files?

I'd like these too...

I downloaded them from a Yahoo! TMNT fan group called "TMNT anime dub" or something like that. I can post some here and PM them to you if you want.

This one is interesting. Notice that "what to avoid" section on drawing the faces. I think the animators messed up on that one a few times...

And now, the second batch:

Raphael is cool but rude... I mean (http://forums.thetechnodrome.com/showthread.php?t=15795&highlight=rude+crude).. crude... err rude.
oh whatever. :P

And Michaelangelo is a party dude!
For today's lesson, April "models" the character model process (yes, pun intended):

Sure, PizzaPower, feel free to do so. They really aren't mine anyway. Like I said, I got them from a TMNT Yahoo group. I don't know who they really belong to.
Here's an exclusive look at the weapons:

It seems they were hardly consistent about what Leo's katanas should be held in. Sometimes just the belt, sometimes partial covers and occasionally a full sword cover.
Ohayo Kame
08-15-2006, 10:19 PM
Alright the height comparisons! Those are some more good ones; of course it's also something the animators never paid attention to. Thanks, I probably got them from the same Yahoo Club (before my old computer died) but I also can't remember which one.

Here's some very cool model sheets for the old Mirage comic style.
Does anyone know if they were from a how-to-draw book or something?
http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a56/slimer2erasmus/TMNT%20model%20sheets/comic.jpg
That box with Don reminds me of TMNT #1's opening scene, even though it kinda look like he's hitting a robot.

http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a56/slimer2erasmus/TMNT%20model%20sheets/turtlefeet.jpg
I never knew the Turtles' had a 3rd toe, I just thought it was an oversized heel!
http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a56/slimer2erasmus/TMNT%20model%20sheets/comicteeth.jpg
Kind of ironic that the cartoon show model sheets discouraged the animators from letting the turtles show teeth when speaking, doncha think?

Sorry, no baxter or technodrome.
And the Aprilhead files are all posted. Files 3 and 4 are the wireframe turnarounds. Files 1 and 2 are the completed head turnarounds with the lines removed. The way I posted them makes them look like they are two big files so I went back and spaced them to avoid further confusion.
But I do have the rest of Bebop's expressions:

Aww man, These will come in VERY handy for perfecting my 3D Character models! The ONLY thing I want to request is a side shot and front shot for Krang and his Android. And if they have them, a Side Shot, profile, and Front Shot of the Technodrome and TRansport Module.
Who posted these, and how in the hell did they get them?

Good thought- Technodrome shots from various angles (or any concept art of it) would be incredible.

Masked Ninja

I can read it - here, I'll type 'em out:
Leonardo: Leo is the leader of the group. Although his skills of stealth and silent tracking are second to none, he is most at home in the center of the action - with his twin katana blades flashing faster than the eye can follow!
Leo is a leaper and a kicker, as a result of his hands being occupied most of the time. He uses his agility to perform some of the most spectacular gymnastics in comics!
Michaelangelo: Michaelangelo the enigmatic Turtle - shown here with his ever-present nunchaku. His face, a study in grim determination and his body a coiled spring ready to strike. His aura is one of confidence and deadly cool. His chosen weapon, the nunchaku, necessitates speed, coordination, and the concentration to put these factors together.
It takes eight pounds of pressure per square inch to break human bone. The nunchaku generate ninety!
Raphael: Last, but not least, we have Raphael - hot-headed and reactionary, and a bloodthirsty berserker to boot! Raphael is the sweetheart of the team.
The sai is a dagger with a circular blade without an edge. The two prongs on its sides serve to enable its wielder to parry or entrap an enemy's sword (or almost any other weapon), leaving him open to attack from the sai's mate.
My notes:
Wow, Mikey's description is almost opposite the treatment he gets in the cartoons! "Confidence and deadly cool," eh? Now I want to write/draw something where he's as kickawesome as he should be. (Even in the universes where he is a bit of a goofy slacker, I love to see him focus and kick shell.)
And it makes me chuckle a little how they call Raph a bloodthirsty berserker and then turn around and say he's the "sweetheart" of the Turtles. I understand how it works... but it's still funny as written.

wow, I know!! I guess that is the true portrayal of nunchaku weilding ninja turtle, that Mirage envisioned. And your right it is the complete opposite of how the cartoons have portrayed him. To be honest I would love to get to know this calmly confident and deadly cool personality of Michaelangelo's. It seems almost alien to how I'm used to seeing him. I also felt alittle miffed out how Mikey gets catagorised as the comic relief or the team screw-up. To bad this version of him doesn't exist out side the Mirage Comic world.
And it makes me chuckle a little how they call Raph a bloodthirsty berserker and then turn around and say he's the "sweetheart" of the Turtles. I understand how it works... but it's still funny as written
I think the call him "sweet heart" because he has a flitation nature or something with the ladies. I think I read some where in his profile that he sometimes flirts.

Hey, I loved the scans you made of the OTS of Ninja Turtles. I am a HUGE fan of the "old school" April. Can I ask a favor, por vavor? Can you send/post those same scans of April, but BIGGER? Like big enough to fill the page without running out of room and still have a reasonable border for the sides and top of the page. I guess you could say "FULL PAGE" kind of copies. Sorry, they were not my scans. I merely downloaded them from a Yahoo fan group years ago. I cannot rescan them but I might be able to resize them for you later. I am on a Christian mission trip to Belize this week. Remind me in about a week or so and I will see what I can do.

Hi, oldmanwinters,
Just in case your back on the 24th, or later, just a reminder of what we talked about last week. I ask if you could rescan the OS April O'Neil character sheets. You said you could possibly "resize" them for me, when you got back from your trip.
IF and WHEN you DO resize them, try, please to make them "full size" images,
OR at least half page ones. I can work better with those kind of images. When I printed the ones you posted, they came out WAY too small. I don't know how to resize a image on the web, UNLESS, it has one of the enlarging arrows in the lower right hand corner.
Truly hope you can help me out. I have looked and looked for these character sheets for a looooooong time. Thanks in advance.

Lenny - I don't think anyone on these boards as the originals to scan from. I'm pretty sure the resizing oldmanwinters speaks of would happen in Photoshop, which probably isn't exactly what you're looking for. You can get nearly the same effect by having your printer enlarge the art when you print it.

Hey, guys,
Thanks for the attempt at resizing the images of April. I,also, came up with the idea of using the photo shop to enlarge the pictures. But I REALLY hoped I could get them enlarged by other methods.:ohwell: But, LIKE I SAID, thanks.
AnyWHO, for my next request, I would like caps of April, from the first episode, when she had bought and gave the turtles their trench coats and hats. The scene where she is looking at them with her arms crossed saying,"Well, it's a SLIGHT improvement." Secondly, The scenes of her as she gets their names wrong as they head toward "Ninja Pizza", and apologizes each time.( Her expressions get sadder and more guilt filled.) Third, The scene where Milkey unties April from the chair she was tied up in. Call me perverted, but I wish for this one in frame by frame, cause I, being a man, would just LOVE to see Ms. O'Neil in "slow-mo" popping footage. Thanks in advance, and thanks, again for the help on the "attempt"

It's the Japanese versions of the model sheets for sale (it might only be photocopies of the original model sheets), and we even get to see character designs for the Bugman episode! If I'm reading the description correctly, it looks like this lot includes 82 items! Wow, too bad I don't think US residents can buy from Yahoo Japan Auctions!

Interesting character sheets. I can't believe the professionalism the animators put into drawing these. Also, those Mirage Turtles Bios were nice. I like the RPG ones better. Mike's was spot on, but for anyone who thinks he's portrayed as a screw-up on the cartoons, I say "Nay Nay" (John Pinette quote).:tlol: I did not like Don's that much. It said nowhere that he was the brains or genius of the group. What the heck?:tmad: Leo's was okay, but it should have explained more than just being a leader. Where was the part about being the most responsible of the family?:tconfuse: I don't know. RPG has the best ones.

That's because he isn't really like that in the comics. Not the the extent of the cartoon, at least.

I guess the person must had worked or been a friend of a member of A-1 productions. And 8,000 Yen is about $102. But here's the bad news: According to some translation, it "does not corresponds to international shipping and only ships in the Tokyo source area". Now that I now own an actual background, it's a shame this can't be owned by anyone outside of Japan. :(

Here are the pictures for future reference. I know the character above Burne is some generic Channel 6 cameraman. Note that on the height chart, each vertical line represents approximately one foot (30 cm), so the Turtle shown on the side at 5 feet on each frame can give a good idea of each character's height.

I would recommend the site www.ninjaturtlecollectibles.com if you are looking for a good reference guide of these. I got my compilation from Francis Moss in the mail today, and in addition to all of the characters we've seen above it also contains model sheets of the Turtle Blimp, Glider, Turtle Van, Channel 6 News Van, Cheapskate, the Trasnport Module (including the Amphibious Module used for Seasons 6 and 7), several angles of the Technodrome exterior, and even pizza! It also includes Donatello's tracking device and his early warning system device used in the later seasons. I highly recommend this if you want to do a nice recreation of the OT's style.

Good find, man. I don't know if I'll order any on account of the price (granted, it seems like a decent deal for over 80 bound pages of high res artwork), but there is no denying how cool it would be too have access to these pics. Too bad Moss isn't offering a cheaper, PDF version. I'd probably jump all over that.

For me, I could copy an image somewhat okay, but to make an original drawing (a character from a different viewpoint or body position) would be very difficult for me. This thread is almost making me want to try and draw these characters out. :P:lol:

Loved this thread. Does anyone have pictures of the original 1988 ninja turtle toy package art with the turtles by themselves rather than on the actual package? I'm basically looking for the same style of art as what's on those packages, but in a similar format to the sketches shared in this thread. I'm working on a collage/art project and was hoping to score some jpeg pics of the turtles like on the '88 packaging (i.e. the poses of the turtles like on Leo's package card). I'm apparently not resourceful enough to find these on the regular search engines and was unable to find these prints. I'll post this in another thread as well. I appreciate your time and any help you guys and gals can provide.

I'd always wondered what Eastman and Laird's original Bebop and Rocksteady looked like.I agree, those look AWESOME. :D
And the first version of Bebop, he looks intimidating! By the way his demeanor looks to be in that picture, I doubt he's be as dim and buffoonish as the Bebop in the OT.
I like the second version of Rocksteady, that one doesn't look like he'd be all that dumb. Maybe he'd be like one of those guys obsessed with blowing stuff up, judging by the looks of all that hardware in his backpack.

Can anyone share more Technodrome views (if they exist)?
I only have 3/4 back and front views i got from Francis Moss back in the day. And now they can be found on turtles wiki.
I mostly interested in a top part now (with the Eye and side guns), but any other ones will be good too.
I still wonder where the entrance to the Technodrome is supposed to be
I recently got back to my Technodrome 3d model. I started to model it because all other ones i stumbled upon consisted various deviations from original design. I attempt to model it as close to original design as i can.
So far an interesting find was a concept art of Technodrome by Mark Taylor, who helped to design it.

Toys were developed first, very early on, including stuff like this. It's very likely that the design used in-show was based on concept art such as that one there (which itself was based on loose descriptions from David Wise's pitches).

David Wise probably didn't pitch the idea of the Technodrome, even though he claimed to, so it's safe to just say assume it was a toy concept before he got involved.
