Your Favorite TMNT video game

I think mine would hands down have to be the TMNT arcade game(later retitled TMNT 2 for the NES) It came out in that great era of 1989, along with other arcade classics as NARC, Strider, Final Fight, Ninja Gaiden, etc.
I remember how it completely blew away the NES TMNT game at the time, and the sheer exhilaration of teaming up to lay the shelldown on the bosses.

It was just so fun, especially being the first 4 player arcade side scroller beat em up. Sadly the side scrolling beat em up went the way of skinny ties and the macarena.

Other honorable mentions go to TMNT 4 for SNES, TMNT tournament Fighters, Hyperstone Heist, and The Manhattan Project(PC).
Anyone have any solid word on an upcoming TMNT game? Please dont let it be some 3d run amok game.

Sorry, turtle fans, but the very first Ninja Turtles game for Nintendo absolutely stunk. I know some people on here like it, but I hated this game.

yeah, the original arcade was great. next id go with turtles in time (i like the snes one better).

the first gamew ould have to be an acquired taste if you ask me. when i was little, i played it alot but just b/c it was the only TMNT game at the time. i thought it did some different and neat stuff, but it ended up being tedious and damn near impossible if ya ask me. if i get past the dam, im lucky. what the hell is with that part with the DEATH SEAWEED with just a narrow path? like you can get through that without being hit? too tough a game.

Hey, at least the GB games were still action games. Tournament fighting? Doesn't sound too much like a TMNT game to me...and I didn't especially like them becuase they were console-only games. Now, if, like Mortal Kombat, it started out in the arcades, THEN I might have liked it better...but that's just me.

There IS a basis for comparison here, thank you very much. They're both Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles games. When you think of TMNT, you think of fighting hordes of Foot Soldiers, Mousers, and other enemies on a scree at once and then moving on when they're all down, then taking down a boss enemy at the end of the level.

Besides, it's YOU that's the lame-brain for making analogies more fallacious than the games. Side-scrollers and fighting games are very similar in genre (hell, I've seen both the MK games and TMNT arcade games fall under the "side-scrolling fighter" genre). Tetris and FF are COMEPLETELY DIFFERENT genres, so of course there's no basis for comparison in that sense!

My favorite: TMNT 2 for NES not the arcade version, I like the NES version better. 2nd favorite: TMNT 3 3rd favorite: TMNT 1 and I haven't played any of the others. Although I played Turtles in Time in the arcade for about 5 minutes. Couldn't beat Baxter at the time.

I feel sorry for the kids whose only TMNT experiences were through the crappy obsolete NES system. That system was cool for original titles, but when it came to arcade conversions...OUCH! Luckily when SNES came about they were able to better port the arcade rgaphics, such as Turtles in Time.

I just downloaded the brand new MAME32.63 Windows release, and wow. All the sound problems and glitches have been fixed from the previous issue. And my...there is nothing more glorious TMNT video game experience wise than the 1989 original arcade game!

All the sound problems and glitches have been fixed from the previous issue.Are you talking about in general, or with one of the games specifically? For the original TMNT game, yeah, it was fixed, but I noticed the problem was taken away when .62 came out. As for Turtles In Time, it still has the major problems of types of foot soldiers and that little glitch that shows something that looks like a pair of certain " perky female organs" instead of a shadow.

Oh, and I downloaded Golden Axe: The Revenge of Death Adder, but I'm guessing the ROM wasn't dumped correctly or something because there's not backdrops in the game! Plus it runs slow, that and Alien 3: The Gun (which also has some scenery problems...)

Hmm, never thought of it that way, but I still love the snow level and the level where you fight the samurai. And I know that all arcade games are meant to get as much cash as you as possible but it got ridiculous at times at how fast you could die. The helicopters that drop the bombs in the cheap-skate level usually kill me in one set of bombs and it's not the easiest thing to dodge.

Yes, the new MAME32 just released for windows fixed a lot of glitches. For instance my two fave games Narc and Ninja Warriors are now working perfectly. Revenge of Death Atter is totally screwed up because of the new type of raster bit module used in the board. It was one of the first arcade uprights in 1992 to use a newer type of chipset...hence Im guessing why its a bit messed up, and only displays the characters. Thoguh..there is a ton of even late 90's arcade games that work fine so who knowss.

Im pretty sure companies realize people arent gonna shell out $1200 a pop just to play a rom when ya can download the dang thing in milliseconds. Forget Fileplanet, they can suck it. Turtles in Time! I played it in arcade form in Orlando, Florida the first time and then loved it on SNES. Now I have it in ROM form. I can't get past Slash, his range is too good.

Thoguh..there is a ton of even late 90's arcade games that work fine so who knowss.The reason Revenge of Death Adder and Alien 3 don't work properly is because they both run on Sega System 32 hardware, and support for it was just added in MAME 0.63. For more accurate and faster System 32 emulation, try Modeler (http://www.emuhype.com/index.phtml?s=modeler&ss=index), at least until MAME's System 32 support is improved. I think you can even use the same ROM sets that you use for MAME with it.

Heh, I couldnt afford a Game Boy in 1989, so that was my only TMNT on the go.^_^

I can understand how some of you can not like the Gameboy Games, but Gameboy was my only game system, other than Atari, and I had turtles 1 and 2 and I thought that they were GREAT!! I loved playing them!
I did get the chance to play The Arcade game at Chucky Cheese and stuff, and the nes games at friends houses, but I would have to say that MY favourite TMNT games are TMNT 1 and 2 for gameboy! Hours of fun for me.



Oh! yes, I have played all the games through Emulators and I still think the Gameboy ones are the best! - I'm really looking forward to seeing what Konami puts out for the new Cartoon!

As for the GameBoy ones, the first 2 were brainless and simple...yet still fun for some reason. Radical Rescue, on the other hand, while a bit more fun and interactive, is a bit too difficult. Does the entire game take place in that underground mine/complex?

And about the LCD versions, there's pictures of them at the official site, so you can save yourself the trouble Shredder (HE ACTUALLY POSTED!), and I don't mean to rip off the second movie with that line :roll: :roll: :roll:

For the SNES: TMNT Turtles in Time. HOWEVER, go to mame.dk, register, and get ahold of the arcade Ninja Turtles and Turtles in time games. They truly are the two best TMNT video games ever.

Cool- thanks for posting the pictures, the ones you found turned out a lot better than mine would have. I had the one on the top left- I didn't know they even made those others. Even though I'm a big video game fan, I haven't played any of the other TMNT games, just never got around to it...or maybe it was just that you couldn't be Shredder.... :)

ARGHHH hard to decide. I like TMNT in Time for SNES and Arcade just as much. They both have things that need work in each other. The arcade version had zillions of enemies while the SNES version redid the moves so you can pull off the throwing moves easily. My second favorite was Tournament Fighters(SNES, the Genesis version was aweful), and my 3rd favorite was TMNT3 on NES.

Impossible to say.There were only two of the games out of the series I DIDN'T Love,The original NES one and Tournament fighters for the Genesis.When I picked up my Gameboy advance one of the first old Gameboy games I tracked down was Fall Of The Foot Clan.There were just too many great TMNT games to pick a favorite.
