It was announced in the TMNT Mailing List, today. So expect a new TMNT comic series, based on the new CGI movie. So mark it down in your calendars, coming March!
"Howdy folks,
Mirage just got in a fresh shipment of Donatello limited edition statues from Playmates Toys. We've currently got all four Turtle statues in stock and we wanted to let you know as the Holidays are fast approaching and supplies are limited! When joined together at the bases, these awesome collectibles form a monolithic centerpiece for every TMNT collector!
You can check out the statues and mail order them from Mirage by hitting this page:

On the comic book front, Mirage will be releasing six (6!) comics in March based on the TMNT computer animated movie!"

Awesome. Is that supposed to mean its a mini-series? Maybe its filling in the wholes between the movies, so we know exactly whats going on.

I know that Murphy an Diego Jourdan are both working on at least one and an adaptation...

The 6 comics are probably just the comic versions of the 9 movie TPB's that'll be out in January. But still....that's alot of comics to be out in one month for TMNT.

This is all good to hear. I'll be looking out for these when they come out. I hope at least one of the comics will be like the movie adaptions that Mirage did for TMNT 1, 2, and 3.

Thats what I was thinking..guess we'll see if that actually pans out...

I'd love for it to be 1 comic recapping the events of the previous movies (or the parts of them that form the key back story to this film along with any continuity alterations they want to make), 4 comics focused on each of the TMNT between the end of the last movie and the start of this one, and 1 comic adapting this movie. Or a 2 part adaptation of this movie and 4 focusing on each of the TMNT.

I'd love to see one TPB about all three original films and then a series about the new film.
Nice! :D

That's possible. However, Kevin Munroe mentioned that when they lit the movie in black & white, they could take stills from it and it would "look like scenes from a comic book" (paraphrasing). I am hoping this is related. I think that would be very cool.
Also, I showed the trailer to some people on another site, and people commented that it was like watching a moving comic book. :thyper:

Someone remind me please - what's the continuity for this? I thought it wasn't going to officially be in any continuity, but wouldn't clash really either. Then I remember hearing it was supposed to take place after the first one, but that was it?
I can't remember anymore. Or is it actually like a number 4?

It takes place after the first film with "aspects" of the second film thrown in as well. I'm guessing there's going to be a flashback sequence in the beginning of the film that recaps the first film and explains which parts of the second are canon.

I think it's been said that all of the first film and parts of the second film are canon. But they also won't contradict the rest of the second film or the third film.
So basically they won't contradict anything from the original 3 movies, but only the first (and parts of the second) will be properly referenced in this film.
They've said that there will be links to all of the TMNT's adventures in the movies (and some of the animated series) in this film. This doesn't necessarily mean verbal. If you look closely at the pictures of the movie sewer lair playset then you can clearly see the Shredder's helmet (with the mouth piece looking like it did in the first film), what could be the time scepter from the third film, and a mouser (which could be from either animated series). http://www.action-figure.com/events/main.php?g2_itemId=55628
So basically continuity is the first 3 films, a gap of at least a year, this film. Then there have been other adventures (one of which will most likely have been Baxter and the Mousers IF the Mouser is in the film version of the lair as well as the playset) between 2 and 3, and between 3 and the the start of Leo's year away before 4. But only 1 and parts of 2 will be given more than passing mention/background prop appearance in the new film.
At least that's what I think based on the comments made so far. That's why I hope 1 of the 6 comics is a recap of the events of the first two films (along with any continuity changes they feel they need to make) since those events will be the core backstory of the new film.
Anyone know if these will be in color or black and white?

Yeah that's exactly what I've been hearing as well. I too would like one of the comics to cover just the canon backstory for this film.
Yeah, it is cool that Pete's returned to comics. We're going to work together on the plots to some of the 5 movie "prequel" comics that Mirage will be putting out in the weeks preceding the 3.30.07 release of the movie. The plots are based on Pete and director Kevin Munroe's "back story" notes... stuff that they wished to have included in the film but couldn't since it would have led to an unreasonable running time.
The straight dope from Mr. Murphy! :D
Some of you were right. Um... kinda. Sounds awesome.
