This information was also posted in the 'Headlock Prime' thread, but it really should get people 'back' into the series. I won't give anything away but...this could be good.

I don't buy the descriptions for the episodes. They were made before final production, and as you could highly tell from headlock prime, they couldn't be farther from the truth. "Raphael joins a wrestling tournament..." I don't remember in any part of that episode where it was a tournament that you could join. It's utter shite.

However, I did make comment about next week's episode... I CAN'T WAIT FOR THAT!!!

So, it's been said to reserve judgement on this show until it actually 'starts' (though it started a good month or so ago... but whatever).

I agreed to give it a chance now that it's... 'started'.

The jokes are forced and unfunny for even kids.

Jammerhead is a poor, POOR version of the 'Midnight Bomber what bombs at midnight' from The Tick.

Even if this show IS more for kids, what is the lesson here? Let's unfairly use our abilities to get ahead? When Mike cut in line, I was flabbergasted.

The characters are SO out of character, it boggles my mind. And I READ FANFICTION!!

Mike stole a car? Where's the talking to from Leo? Don? ANY of them??

That freakin' awful 'Ninja Time' wears on my nerves. Cody is such a liability, we're getting into the 'Damsel in Distress' mode that old April was. Actually, even worse.

Ok, I laughed once. When Don told Cody to 'jump' from the horribly named 'Turtle-X'... Because all I could think was 'Yes! Please! Off the chasm, please!'

Even with this awful 'jump the shark' manuever, there could have been some good storylines in there. But it seems they have opted to not do any of them, and take some easy way out. No emotions, out of character... it makes me sad that THIS is what they deem worthy of the TMNT. After those years of 2K3... this is what people will rmember from the show.

How completely saddening. I cannot fathom how they are proud of this; I'd love to know. We are missing everything that made the 2K3 series good. This is an embarassment.

Well, since knowing that Ninja Tribunal puts an end to some of the old storylines, I'm living up to my word in that I will give FF a chance.

Seeing as how Bishop is still around, he was probably one of the best bad guys the turtles ever faced, IMO. I remember thinking the start of the 2k3 series was kind of weak, but it picked up after all the fillers.

I think it's just history repeating itself, or want to believe that. I'm going to continue to watch, cause I feel the best is yet to come, again, after the fillers play out, like they did at the start of the 2k3 series.

I cannot fathom how people thought the first season was weak. I stopped watching for a bit after all that time travel in 2 or 3 (not sure which). That stuff at the beginning was good, though.

And another thought... this week's ep... Mike STILL gets the game?! Whatever.
He didn't deserve it. What happened to Leo's discipline, by the way?

It's SO missing something... this series.


EDIT - By the way, the opening to that is cool, Zarius. Just goes to show that a 'kid's show' CAN be darker and have themes other than brightly colored characters with no personalities and bad senses of humor. Anyone who says a kid's show can't have edier themes is full of crap, and is just covering their butts because they've failed.

The sense of humor in FF is no better then all of the 2k3 series honestly.

The show has always relied on looking at Mikey for jokes, and plainly they fall flat most of the time. Most of the jokes my 4 year old son laughs at, while I'm like, bleh, could've been more unpredictable with that joke.

When you think of jokes that are funny, watch Samurai Tourist. That was probably one of the funniest episodes in all of the 2k3 series. It didn't try to be funny, but was. A guy staring down a walking rhino only to hit a parked car... That's funny. No silly one liners, or relying on one sole turtle to provide that joke was top notch.

So IMO, FF and 2k3 are one in the same, except now, like the old series, everyone tries to make jokes, which can mix things up better then what was displayed in 2k3. I've always said 2k3 does better action, whereas the old toon does better comedy, comedy that still holds up to this day and some of it can only be gotten by adults.

More "Golden Puck"/"Christmas Aliens"-esque funness... and I'm enjoying it. I'm not psychoanylizing anyone like I usually was, but it's still enjoyable. The Jammerhead guy gets on my nerves... actually, he reminds me so much of the big gangster's henchman from the second season, with the bad tie, whose name I can't remember at the moment, who also got on my nerves, and was supposed to. ;) And Biggles... was actually a bit more tolerable! The "less paperwork for me" line made me chuckle. The animation during the battle on the ship was excellent... I'm already getting used to the new style (or the animators are, one or the other, probably a bit of both), it doesn't bother me much anymore... except for the occasional wild 'toony take. Er, and Splinter's eyebrows got bigger in the last scene, and may have been the wrong color.

Nice touch with Mikey telling Cody "They're only games". Turtle's got priorities, when it comes down to the wire, he's not obsessed past the point of all sense. :p

(If anybody wonders why I'm not commenting as much as usual, it's not 'cuz I've lost interest in the show... I've been distracted lately by a new Transformers role-play community I found... the novelty will wear off eventually, and then I'll talk more :))

I thought it was cool how the game Mikey wanted was based on Halo 2. The character with the gun on the side of the truck, and on the game cover looks alot like, if not just like the hero from Halo. I have a picture of Master Chief as my avatar.

I really liked Jammerhead's invisible air ship, or whatever it was. It was cool how it looked like they were jumping through a portal.

Next week looks like it could be great.

Anyways... on to the review:

Ok this ep was...eh...about all we learned is that Cody's full name is Cody Augustus Jones...so he was named after Uncle Auggie. This was also an intro to Cody's new toy..the Turtle X.

This ep also proved that Starley has the hots for Cody (who likes her but appears to be rather uneasy about it..but what do you expect from a 14 year old).

Nice use of Gungala tho... but WTF was up with the chasm?? That was never explained... And WTF is up with Raphael wearing a bathrobe??? That was a bit out of character for him... Mike I can see wearing one but not Raph.

Can't wait for next week tho! WOOT... Bishop and Torbin Zixx!! :D

Better comedy was in the 2K3 series, though I aso thought that fell flat a bit, trying to be TOO silly, which I HATE. It's demeaning even to children to have to rely on childish humor and not smart, intelligent humor.

Constant comedy, with nothing smart to compare it against is awful. There's nothing 'smart' in the show anymore, it's all stupi-fied, like talking down to kids. I can't stand when shows don't TRY anymore.

I have contact with tons of kids, and they don't like this, either.

I still want to know why they had to go down to this level.

Um, the turtles have always been like this, at least in this incarnation; they've never had any problems with stealing or playing fast and loose with the law when it benefitted them. Remember the truck that became the Battle Shell? The Foot helicopter? Bishop's? Plus, they have definitively stolen the city's electricity and cable--cutting in line would be right up their alley.

Except for the first few episodes, the previous series was never a moralistic show. While the turtles have never commited any despicable acts, they were never boy scouts, either: they killed, stole, and always looked out for themselves first, (at least until the turning point in Exodus, where they decided they would rather give their lives than let the Shredder rule the world). To complain about this now seems very dishonest.

This episode was okay IMHO. It felt kinda below average for me...:( It was cool seeing Jammerhead again, though. I forgot who he was and what he did, so this episode reminded me.

I feel Cody needs lessons in flirting, no matter his age. He's not gonna be much of a ladies techie if he keeps it up. I liked his Casey Jones mech type o' deal; it would be cool to see that made into a toy.


I'm glad Mikey finally got his video game -- it's encouraging to see me favorite Turtle in a happy mood.

I hope next week's episode will be better cuz it looks like it will. I'm excited to see Bishop again and Torbin Zixx for the first time!

Actually, FF comedy I likened to the old toon only because everyones attempting jokes rather then just looking at Mikey to impersonate AHNOLD, or ask if he looks fat in a dress.

When it comes to comedy in turtles however, nothing beats the old toon. Who can forget lines like.

Turtles and April are running up numerous flights of stairs avoiding a building filling with water.

I can name SOOOOOOO many more lines from the original show that would smoke the comedy in 2k3/FF, but at least now, all peeps are looking to tell jokes that will either be hit or miss, instead of relying on Mikey for a quick chuckle. I still like how the comedy was presented in Samurai Tourist, it seemed more natural.

I really wanna say that it's a case of Comedy (new show) VS. Slapstick (old toon,) and clearly, in my eyes, nothing beats good slapstick. Plus David Wise writing was superb on the old show.

And Incidentally up here the ep started airing at around 10:50 so my VCR missed the first 5 min (I record the eps even if I am up and I have the VCR set to start recording at 10:55). Double weird.

Well, I agree that they did steal things before... But stealing a police car to get a VIDEO GAME seems a bit... 'Over the top'? That's what I meant. It was stupid.

Alot of the other things they stole was to survive; though it is debateable that stealing cable isn't a necessity for life! ;)

I think this was a fairly good episode. FF is starting to slowly grow on me, and the animation/art style seems to be improving a bit. I still don't like all the sharp angles on the Turtles, especially the faces. I miss the full round chubby-cheeked faces. :tsad: I also don't like their skin colorings that bright. They look too pastel.

Aside, I like the show well enough, and this episode got a chuckle or two out of me. Raph in a robe was kind out of nowhere, but it was cute. Mikey being Mikey as usual, but I think they played that a little over the top even for him. Despite the fact cutting in line was wrong, he did intercept the game robbery, sort of. And if Leo had been there at the time, he would've given Mikey a reprimand for thinking of cutting. He did call out to Mikey "Don't do it!" when he started attacking the police, and then stealing the squad car to chase after Jammerhead and the game truck. So it wasn't like Leo was sitting idly by, and watching without a word of warning. The lack of a real scolding to Mikey is nothing new already with this series, just as like a lack of the emotional scenes you figure would obviously follow after a near traumatic event. (Scion of the Shredder/Prodigal Son)

Starly and Cody... Ah, young love, but could Starly be any more obvious? I mean, damn girl was practically hanging off his arm, and this is making Cody flustered, confused, and perhaps a little scared. What guy at his age wouldn't be to have a girl throwing herself at you.

Cody... It's obvious he's trying so hard to be part of the Green Team, and be a hero too. He has good ideas, but his inexperience becomes more of a liability. The phantom got into his robot to mess things up, and was about to steer Cody to his doom. Hence why Leo was shouting concern for Cody, and not his brother. Mikey was okay, and he could take care of himself anyway. Cody is their only way back to their own time, and if they lose him, they lose everything. So, unfortunately, they need Cody alive, and besides, he's family. I kind of feel sorry for the little guy.

Um, ok, I don't really know what to say about this epsiode.

It was fun while I was watching it, it had interesting scenes, but when it was over, nothing left. Not a single good or important thing to remember from it. This epsiode can be placed in dictionaries for description of 'filler episode'.

Jammerhead's laugh annoyed the hell out of me, they couldn't have made it more irritating that that! :evil:

The new animation style is still crap in my opinion. Draw them like you used to, damn it!...

At least next week seems like a beginning of a nice story arc of several episodes, so we will at least have something to look forward to in the next episodes. I really hate fillers, and the last FF episodes were exactly that.

I really liked this episode... a lot.

I thought the Halo parody was wonderful and really lampoons how obsessed some fan-boys can get. It reminded me of all those poor souls camped out across the world to get a PS2 from the very first shipment instead of waiting a few months for the hype to die down.

The fake security tape that showed the Turtles stealing the games was hilarious as Mikey pranced and paraded around waving the cartridges at the camera. I thought the animation was fluid as well, with some creative artisitc flair with Mikey's blurred running at the end ala "the Flash" or "Sonic the Hegdehog."

And Mikey even had some character develop in this ep. as he didn't even hesitate to encourage Cody to drop the game truck so that he wouldn't fall to his death. As we've seen all along, Mikey likes to goof off, but also knows when he needs to buckle down and get serious. A good lesson to all of us who are kids at heart.

I am in much agreement with Ectocooler who admited that this show is simpler in every way to the previous seasons but that it captures the spirit of old school Saturday morning enterainment. No, I don't wake up every morning in a state of suspense about what it going to happen to the Turtles, but I do enjoy watching this show. And who knows? When an action show starts out lighthearted it tends to evolve into a more serious show (Sonic the Hedgehog, Justice League), just like serious action shows tend to dumb down after a while (ex. original TMNT, Darkwing Duck). TMNT: FF has yet to hit its stride. While many TMNT hardcore fans have given up on it as the bastard child of 4Kids, I personally am happily along for the ride (however long it may be).

This episode was just okay. I watched mostly because it was Mikey-centric episode. I'm glad it kept in character of Mikey but I do think the writters went a little over the top with his obsession.

I think this episode missed out on taking advatage of the frame-up angle and haveing Mikey taking the heat. It would have been allot more interesting to have Mikey get in trouble for the stolen video games, you know actually take the rap for the theft, get arrested. Have him try in vain to prove his innocence but have the bad guys wire some bogus incriminating eveidenc. Get intergated in prison and maybe have his family leave him in prison over night to teach him a lesson about being to obsessed over video games and trying to cut in line to be first. And I don't know actually have one of the turtles is a bad situation.

But no we get a have baked frame-up and a half way decent chase instead. Although amusing it was sub-par with me.

However I think this episode proves that the turtles don't realize that they don't live out side society any more and have to follow the rules. This is the second episode in a row where the turtles have damaged property resisted arrrest and stolen stuff for their conviance. It was all fine and dandy when they where liveing in the shadows, but they are not now, and them breaking the law is now not acceptable.

Although what I did like was Mikey's freak out segment when they tried to arrest him and he handed all the officers their butts to them. I even liked Leonardo: "uh oh...hes got that look!" Displaying a crazy streak, isn't something commonly found in Mikey. I wouyld see that in Raph instead. And yeah this episde gets points for a little character development on Mikey's part. And did deserve the game at the end.

Ugh, Starely is annoying. I wanted to shake her. Cody was bothersome in this episde to. He beginning to become forced and i don't like that. If he isn't nessarry leave him out of the episode, like in the last one.

The lack of a real scolding to Mikey is nothing new already with this series.

thats not true Mikey gets scolded plenty when he acts out by Splinter. I just don't know why every thinks Leo should have to do it :ohwell:

I finally found time to watch this ep (because I ran out of more exciting things to do). I see some people arguing for or against the comparison to the classic show. I see Jo made some really good points. I understand that Fast Forward is watered-down (which is why I never put ice in my drinks), and so the same treatment that we gave the parent series doesn't work anymore. The one moral lesson I've seen in this series so far was Mikey's decision that games aren't worth Cody's life. But, that character development will never have happened by next week. The concept that we can psycho-analyze the characters is no longer true. The plot may progress, but the characters won't. That's just how things go with shows more aimed at lil' tykes. That was very true about the old show. Any character development was so subtle that they weren't noticibly matured by the end of the series. Disappointing, yes. Unforgivable, no. I think that the humor aspect is also akin to the classic show, but mostly in that it weakly tries to "make a funny" every few seconds. That also annoys me, but I wouldn't have preferences if I expected them to be met at all times. I think I'll just speak in quotes for the rest of the post.

How can it be that they are happy putting this on the air? This is going to be what people remember of the TMNT's run. Are they proud of this? I really want to know... if this is how they want to be remembered, and not the intense, witty, dark beginning that was 2K3?

The jokes are forced and unfunny for even kids.

Even if this show IS more for kids, what is the lesson here? Let's unfairly use our abilities to get ahead? When Mike cut in line, I was flabbergasted.

That freakin' awful 'Ninja Time' wears on my nerves. Cody is such a liability, we're getting into the 'Damsel in Distress' mode that old April was. Actually, even worse.

It's demeaning even to children to have to rely on childish humor and not smart, intelligent humor.

Constant comedy, with nothing smart to compare it against is awful. There's nothing 'smart' in the show anymore, it's all stupi-fied, like talking down to kids.I agree with all of that. Beakman's World...man I loved that show when I was younger.....I watched it all the time.... this kooky scientist, and his 2 lab assistants.. a weird human lady and a mutant rat.

Au contraire - it's been the best one in this miserable series so far. Made me chuckle a few times, I liked the numerous cultural references... The whole dating thing kinda sucked, tho'. Starly behaved like a high school nymphomaniac.
