Wasn't Fat-ass Cass the one who died choking on a sandwich? I still never figured out who that Jonathan Winters guy was supposed to be. Exterminator Gadget was easy enough to recognize (and I realized how type-cast the poor guy is when Nick At Night started playing Get Smart probably over a decade ago). Oh, wait... This isn't the Scooby thread anyway. Forget I said-- er, "typed" anything.

Oh, c'mon, be nice. Cody isn't THAT bad! Not like that snotty like brat on Rugrats, whatever HER name is! At least Cody's nice. Eager, but nice. I honestly don't get WHY everybody dislikes him so much.

And to MY mind, this ep sounds kinda cool. NOT like the one that's going to be on the 14th of October, "Bishop to Knight". *shudders* I really WAS hoping that 4Kids had gotten a clue and ditched that idiot Bishop!!!

Cody is a multi-millionare who lives on his, was single handidly responsible for sending the TMNT into the future, has a "mary sue" quality of unrealism to him, what else should I mention? You must really think along the lines of those old school shows, and not the kind that are any good, I'm talking Hannah Barbera in the 1970's, to appreciate Cody.:)

While thats true Cody is no where near as annoying as I thought he would be. Now Serling and Biggles are horribly annoying but Cody is actually a decent character past the rediculsness you already stated. And it's not like he is showing up the Turtles that much. He was a plot device to bring the Turtles to the future but past that I have just fond him to be a nice kid. I would take him over another 4kids "Mary Sue" Rich Kid anyday thats for sure. i'm talking Chris from Sonic X. I don't apprecate Cody I just don't hate him.

That was... unusual, but interesting. :)

My foremost complaint so far has been that a culture does not change so quickly in 100 years, even with the galactic alliance and all that... I mean, America still retains a lot of the British culture it was founded with 230 years ago, despite all the other nationalities that have come since then, and added their own elements. But *shrug* it's a fun premise, I just wish it was a thousand years instead of a hundred, or something. But then I'd want to use the Gargoyles opening... "One thousand years ago, superstition and the sword ruled..." :D

Okay, I liked the scene with Sh'okanobo and Splinter... definitely gave me the appropriate creeps when he had him pinned on the floor.. http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y73/Zakiyah/emoticons/unsure.gif I thought he'd captured Leo too easily, but *shrug* plot device. I sort of enjoyed the human Peacekeepers muttering about robots in the background... oh, and the preview for next week in relation to Biggles.. ;)

I think I like Serling more and more... He's got it alll pegged exactly right! Haha, I love it. I agree with about everything he says.

Eh, it was 'ok'. I was bored through about all of it, and apparently missed the only funny moment (when Don slaps Mike's wrist). Not good enough to like or anything, though. It just cannot hold my attention for more than about two minutes, whereas I can watch the 2K3 series (MOST episodes, they had bad ones, too) over and over and pay rapt attention.

If Cody weren't in this series, it'd be about a million times better. He's soooooo annoying and useless.

And, it's funny, creativerealms82, that you mentioned wishing Splinter had stayed in the past... My brother and I said the same thing during this episode! Ugh, what a waste.

Still missing an edge (or, ya know, ANY kind of quality or worthiness) that the 2K3 series had that made it actually GOOD.

ThemanthatwouldbeRaphael
10-21-2006, 12:32 PM
Meh, it was allright. I kept going back and forth between channels, but some of the stuff I saw was allright. Mikey playing the Horro Movie expert was mildly amusing, and Sh'okanabo looks like an allright villan(though he would have been 100 times threating and 100 times better in the 2K3 series).

I hate and still hate that "It's Ninja Time" crap-phrase, and Cody coming to the rescue was pretty pointless.

You have a point, Cody is'nt exactly as attached in a gay manner to the Turtles the way Chris is to Sonic (another reason why I always loved episode 52 of Sonic X, one of the times I've ever praised that series, just to see the girl get the guy at the end and leave Chris a hapless widow)

A good, althought not great episode. While none of the Fast Forward episodes shown so far have reached the previous series' season 4 peak, they do manage to compare quite favorably against it's first season--a much more appropiate comparison, I think.

Random thoughts:

Was it just me, or was this episode's "Danger Room" scenario based on the Ninja Tribunal's ship?

The show is slowly but surely integrating its cast into a coherent whole. Biggles appearance didn't seem contrived, and Serling finally gets some badass injected in him. Splinter, however, continues to be marginalized, and I'm left wondering what the point of bringing him along was.

Wuss Wrestling, horror movies as a very niche market--I wonder if the writers are going someplace specific with this, or if these developments are made randomly. Given the crew, I'd say a little bit from bucket A, a little bit from bucket B. In any case, the future seems to have struck a nice balance between "utopia" and "dystopia"--quite nice.

I'd considered the possibility that Sh'Okanabo could be a returned Shredder/Ch'rell, but it is now pretty clear that that isn't the case. In any case, while he's a pretty standard "take over the world" big bad, I remain intrigued. Plus, he's no slouch in a fight, either--I was pleasantly surprised when he continued to hold his own against Cody's armor, especially when devices of that type are usually used as deux ex machinas.

This episode's premise reminded me a bit of The Way of Invincibility; Sh'Okanabo's motivations this episode were almost exactly like Saki's determination to figure out wether the turtles were allied with his "enemies". Here, however, Sh'Okanabo gained nothing but increased attention from the turtles (althought fortunately, they have no leads due to the fact that he never mentioned his name--a stroke of good luck if I ever heard of one).

Well...um...wonder when the Awakening is? No doubt that's also the intro of the Dark Turtles. Altho the shadowing shown in the gene seed already looked like a turtle (a sea turtle). But hey.. at least we now know that Bishop isn't behind the dark turtles....it's the new lead baddy, Sh'Okanobo. He is seriously scary and evil.

The parts with Mikey informing the Earth Alien Appreciation
Society of the codes of horror movies got me to wonder how many codes there are and where does "The black
guy is always the first to die" fit in??. Still...the 22nd century sucks...seriously no B Horror movies??? I LOVE B horror movies as much as Mikey! Be it "Frankenstein" (I've been to the real
Frankenstein castle :D ) or "The Gargoyle"

All and all I kinda liked this ep.. Sh'Okanobo is an extremely frightening villian. And hey... it was cool to see Viral again! :D

And one of my fave quotes for this ep has to go to Raph when he looked up at Leo stuck to the wall and exclaimed.. "Ick!"... I was emediatly reminded of "Boston Legal" as there's a character who uses that as her tagline.

As for next week...Looks like that by 2105 Turtle Titan is more or less Batman (complete with a Turtle signal) and Constable
Biggles is really just an annoying robot version of Comissioner Gordon. :P

I thought this episode was pretty cool -- a tad bit better than last week's. I had no idea what Sh'okanabo was talking about whenever he metioned the Day of the Awakening -- perhaps it has something to do with Judgment Day, but how should I know? :???: He was very pecuilar-looking in his slimy shadow form. For some reason, the little shadow form o' his reminded me of the symbiotes that appeared in the Spider-Man comics -- namely Venom.

It was cool that Cody and the Turtles went to that horror movie festival cuz that made me want to see the movies that it was showing. They were having fun until Sh'okanabo decided to ruin their fun. He ended up paying the price for crashing the wrong party...:ohwell: Hey, I'm glad Cody's Turtle X made a humorous departure and entrance (with Serling attached to the chain) in order for him to help the Turtles fight Sh'okanabo. :D

The only thing I disliked about the episode was for the very beginning: there was no voice narration like in previous episodes, so that kinda threw me off. Still, it was cool to see Viral again. I'm giving this episode a four out of "Day of the Awakening" mentions out of five.

Next week's episode looks pretty good cuz Turtle Titan will return. Hopefully it'll set the stage for the Dark Turtles, to give the viewer a better understanding of what's going with 'em.

The Day of Awakening is when his gene seeds/eggs hatch. This is the day he will truly take over the world (or at least attempt to). It's also no doubt the intro of Shokonobo's new creations, the Dark Turtles.

Altho I still think that the things inside the gene seeds looked like turtles to begin with. :ohwell:

So, Cody's three friends are Mikey's brothers. How sad... I recognized the similarity in premise to "Way of Invisibility" as well, though it was a rather slight comparison. The Shredder didn't show his face so early in the game. Since he sent messengers, Sh'okanabo certainly tops him in the impatience department.
The Day of Awakening is when his gene seeds/eggs hatch. It's also no doubt the intro of Shokonobo's new creations, the Dark Turtles.
Sh'okanabo clearly stated that the turtle-clones will be to keep the TMNT from interfering with "The Day of Awakening". So, dark turtles will debut very soon. The Day of Awakening will be closer to the end of the season. I'm guessing it may involve the expected zombies, but I have a feeling that's just another diversion he'll come up with in a future episode.

On the whole, I didn't have as many complaints about this episode as last week's. It was Ninja Time twice in this episode, but it has grown tiresome to the point that I mutter some choice words, then pretend it never happened. Viral grew new arms. Did anyone notice? It must be a self-repairing, battery-powered robot that she took. Oh! And, look! My prophecy's come to pass. Her tongue is missing! :D I wish I had mentioned it before, but someone else creating the dark turtles will cause the TMNT to be even more suspicious of Bishop (who I wouldn't doubt is truly reformed). That's the only reason I didn't think it was impossible.

You know I was kind abored but kinda enjoyed it at the same time.
But the art has really grown on me and isn't all that bad now.
Splinter seriously why are you here? I keep asking myself this...he's like pointless and helpless now he's like 80's toon splinter.
Sh'okanabo is awsome great character design and very creepy!
And he took skin samples of the guys..nasty!
Was very nice to see Viral again I love her character.
Cody I'd like to see why everyone find him so annoying...he's just kinda curious to me and he's actully been very helpfull besides the fact that he brought the guys to this stupid future world.
I like his exo outfit and can't wait for the toy.
Serling I'm starting to like also..glad I got his action figure now cause it's well done! He had allot of good lines in this and he sort of reminds me of Baxter Stockman.
Officer Biggles isn't really bothering me now because he says more than "whats all this then" in this episode...and he was actully trying to help not be annoying..for once..but I guess things are kind of starting to make me laugh because when I saw the preview for next week when he goes "whats this theeeeen" and falls off the roof and Mikey goes "oops" I started cracking up. lol
And I love how Sh'okanabo is like being all sneeky running through the house and stuff...We also just saw a dark splinter shown at a toy show that oddly enough looks like Sh'okanabo and Splinter mixed into one I can't wait to see that happen on the show.
The huge thing that really botherd me in todays episode is that the turtles where being so slow and not really holding up much of a fight...they were like easily being captured..but perhaps it was done to give us that cheesy horror movie feel lol..but it went over my head if thats what it was...
I was also botherd by the lack of culture in the future you would think it would have not lost everything we as a culture have grown to love in such a quick time period...seriously stupid.
oh and this is me just being nitpicky buuut they calling the great horror movie with vincent price the Tingler the wrong name...what did they call it the tangler or something...prolly for copyright laws or something I guess..
all in all not bad the shows starting to come together finally and I couldnt be happier.

Yea.. Im annoyed that in 100 years time there's no junk food (well except for popcorn...) and horror films are litterally a thing of the past. Nobody watches movies anymore??? Cody may be smart but he certainly doesn't know much. :P

As for the name of the horror films. In the TMNT universe things are done differently. Instead of The Tingler it's The Tangler... instead of Nightmare on Elm Street it's Nightmare on Willowston.

I thought of the 1990s Power Rangers several times throughout the episode. The intro at Shokanabo's lair reminded me of when on Power Rangers they show the villians at their lair plotting against the Rangers. Then when the turtles couldn't defeat Shokanabo, Cody arrived in his mech, kind of like how the Rangers have their Zords.

Also, the end when Shokanabo is making the Dark Turtles. Sort of like how Finster used to create those clay bad guys in Power Rangers. Ok maybe not....:D

One more thing, Shokanabo has somewhat of Goldar's face.:D

I didn't see the previous few episode after episode 3, for some reason they didn't so the episodes they were suppose to show on my Fox network. Guess it was cause of the whole dam Baseball games that ruins Saturday Morning line ups.

This one was good for an average Horror B movie related episode.

I laugh when Mikey was shock that cody doesn't know any B/horror movie classics. And gotta hand it to Mikey for showing that Movie learning Alien group on how to watch and know movies.

From the 4 episodes I seen of Fast Forward, I'm completely fine with it. May be in the future, but least it's still Ninja Turtles whenever I look at it. Least there are a few other people like me who do give it a chance and what not.

Maybe other fans would like it more if the future was more like in Cowboy Bebop, but then you'd see tons of Bounty hunters and New York's economy looking like crap.

I don't hate the series, I don't love it... it's meh. It's still better than the live action show. I hate cody and his blue Mira from Buzz Lightyear looking geek girlfriend (more so the girlfriend, I always get jealous and depressed when I see couples of any kind, but that's another post for another day). But this and the Bishop episodes are at least forshadowing better storylines to come. No more of this... "WOW! Look how the future changed, and yet stayed relatably the same" one shot episodes. Who else was disappointed by the lameness of the wrestling episode? That one had limitless potential.

I'm going to save my thoughts about the lack of Junkfood for another post... I feel it may be social commentary.

Biggles and Sterling? Well... I must admit... I've warmed up to them. I do like parodies of British Bobbies (being heavily into Monsty Python right now) and "What's all this then" cracks me up. But even still... it would work better in another series. I do like how he actually does something besides being poor comic releif.

Splinter does nothing in the show aside from saying he's teaching Cody martial arts and disapline. But then again, without Splinter, we wouldn't have the Kick arse new Splinter action figure, that blows the shapeless plastic turd in a burlap wrap first version out of the toilet water.

But that Mech suit of Cody's? PATHETIC! The top one thing I hate about FF is the lack of Casey Jones. Just mentioning him by turning his likeness into a formulaic robot? Please!

>>Maybe other fans would like it more if the future was more like in Cowboy Bebop, but then you'd see tons of Bounty hunters and New York's economy looking like crap.<<

While a dark, ominous, depressing future is cliche... well... it's cliche for a reason. I mean, this isn't Jetsons where everything is too convieniant, or on the opposite of the scale, Futurama where things are still humongously flawed. (oddly enough... anyone else notice the mentions of New New York... like the NNY Power company?) It's Future for future's sake.

Biggles wasn't my idea for a police charater either. Even if he does resemble the stereotype British cop.

I don't mind Sterling's designs, not my favorite charater for the FF series in all. Maybe people would admire him more if he resembled Bender instead of C-3PO. Since the whole worry-some and butler robot role has been used way too many times.

Why is it New New York anyways??? What happened to Old New York???

There'll always be a New York tho... like in Doctor Who there was an ep where they visited New New New New New New New New New New New New New New York

We have Bender... he was just renamed Serling and Cody resembles Fry....while Starley is Amy Wong.

While watching the ep I noticed something at the beginning. When Sh'okanobo was looking at the gene seeds a figure was shown in one he held. Now to me it looked like a sea turtle. I took a screen shot:

WTF is exactly in those gene seeds??

I'm going to say that this was the best episode of the season so far (aside from the series premiere). It was a lot darker than a lot of the other episodes and it definitely had set up points in it. Sh'okanabo is definitely a worthy villian. Now we know how the Evil Turtles are created. After the last 2 episodes, this show is finally showing some potential.

Theme song still sucks. I'm finally starting to tollerate "It's Ninja Time" but I still don't like it. I still think the animation is way below par. Going through and watching the seasons so far has opened my eyes to that. Ah well... I'm starting to warm up more and more with episodes like this one.

They must be Futurama fans... that's about it...\

Now, they don't EXACTLY say New New York. New Manhattan, yes... but they just hint at it on signs and company buildings.

Again, I'm rather late to the discussion. Oh well.

I thought the rules of monster movies thing was fun, reminded me of Scream. And Sh'okanabo looks like a more interesting villian than the ones we've seen so far.

But I'm starting to hate what they're doing to Splinter. He knows this creepy thing is looking for his sons and what does he do? Nothing! WTF? Couldn't he at least call them on their ShellCells to warn them? If they didn't want them to be warned ahead of time, they should have just have the guys turn them of because they are at the movies. In the old series Splinter would have come to save his sons in such a case though. *sigh* Why did they even bother writing him in if they're not going to use him for anything.

And did we really need another episode focusing on Mikey, isn't "Clash of the Turtle Titans" enough? Where are the Leo or Don centric episodes? And the way they are portraing him is starting to make me dislike him.

Others have pointed out before, it's pretty unbelievable that the culture changed so much in a century. Most of the monsters Mikey listed are from classic literature, how can they be forgotten so easily?
