Mike Zulli collection to be printed in TPB!

at least according to Murphy in Tales 28!

we'll be collecting those three issues, along with two short stories that appeared in the trade shell shock, in a tpb that we'll be solicitising for this month. michael is doing a new wraparound cover for the collection, and comics historian and auteur steve bissette will be adding an afterword.

this was in reply to someone who mentioned zulli's mirage vol 1 's 31, 35 and 36!!!

i love these stories and cant wait for them to be released in tpb....

Yeah, I recently read Mike Zulli's trilogy and really enjoyed them. One of the few "reimaginings" during the worst era of Vol. 1. And this TPB will include material I haven't read. I'm tempted to pick it up for that.

This is a TPB to look out for IMHO. I haven't read any of Zulli's stuff, so that makes me much more excited for it. If it's gonna be good, then I feel it won't be a waste o' money.

Wow, I never even knew Zulli did any work on any issues besides issue #31. Cool, I'll probably pick this up if I can find it. Anyone know any good places to buy these? I buy most of my ultimate spider-man graphic novels at borders but kinda doubt theyd have tmnt.

A comic shop's usually your best bet, but failing that, Borders has a special ordering system. If they don't have it in stock you can get them to order one for you.

That's what I loved about them. They were SO different from any form of TMNT that we had seen before. Yet it completely worked as its own creation IMHO. The art was amazing too. :o

Awesome. A definite MUST for anyone who doesn't already own these.

I loved the new extremely serious/artistic take on the turtles, as well as his excellent detailed art. If he did his own series about the turtles in that continuity, I'd buy every issue.

As a kid, some family members got me a few issues of the old TMNT. They didn't know anything about it, and I especially didn't. The issues they got me were #31, and one of the wacky ones, #23. It always confused me as a kid at how those two were supposedly the same turtles in the same story line.

I'll get them. I have to have it, even though I have the souls withering trilogy, and Shellshocked. There is a sketchbook series, and Dooney has a Book, Zulli does too, and they have some great sketch concepts in them.

I picked these issues up around the time they came out when I was like 9 or 10 years old and they were a big hit around the neighborhood. These are some of the most memorable issues and I'm excited to see them collected.

This makes it kind of feel like they're picking up where they left off on collecting volume 1.

Are you kidding? They were probably the worst books in the entire Mirage lineup (Vols 1-4 etc.) It wasn't bad enough that they signed their rights over to someone who obviously didn't know/care what Ninja Turtles were, but they had a paragraph or two in front congradulating themselves on how cool they were for letting him. Something about how DC would never allow their characters to be changed that much for a story... except, yes they do. Sometimes they're even branded as fake stories or elseworlds, other times "it's just the new continuity, live with it."

I got this book this week and I reallyreally like it. The bookplate features new Splinter art, which is really nice. I haven't read these stories in forever, so I enjoyed going through them again. I remember being initially turned off by the art when I first got the Vol. 1 issues this book reprints, but once you get into reading it it totally works.

This book also collects three short stories, my favorite of which is a bad dream that Michaelangelo has.
