View Full Version : When have TMNT killed humans?

I've been browsing through the episodes I have on tape and I can't find any instances in which the TMNT have actually killed humans; I've seen them kill Triceratons(?), lava monsters, Y’Lyntians, Moriah's monsters, S-Gray Aliens, God of Thieves Idol, Draco, Savanti Romero, tengu guardians, and two tengu demons [Just A Note: aside from the Y’Lyntians, Draco, and Savanti Romero, the TMNT have never actually offed any major villains-P.S. Sliver was another offed major baddie but that was by the Super Turtles, not to mention Donatello did successfully kill Shredder in SAINW but that was another separate dimension matter]
But when have they actually killed humans; I've seen foot ninjas, foot techs, and foot elite all be slashed, beaten, knocked out, disabled, short-circuited, fallen off rooftops, and caught in explosions(?). But I can't say for certain whether they actually killed any?
So still the question remains, does anybody here know for certain if the TMNT have ever killed humans in the new show? This is basically quick-question/quick-answer.

I'm pretty sure they ran over a 5 year old off screen.

They haven't, because it's a children's cartoon.

Not to my knowledge.
But April kind of killed Karai with bazooka in "Same As It Never Was", does it count?

Probably doesn't count but when Leo and Shredder faced off I think Leo cut his head off with the full intent of killing him, especially considering it was before they new Shredder was'nt human

Considering the battle shell's armed with missiles, I think it's safe to say they've killed some people with it.

They probably killed those under ground people when they blew up thier underground city or made it sink into lava in the episode "The Entity Below"

I mentioned those people in my first post, they were the Y’Lyntians, but they weren't human.

I'm pretty sure at least some of the Foot that Leo has sliced have died from their injuries.

Leo intentionally cut shredder's head off, and they did assume he was human. I think thats the closest to a human death in the show.

Regardless of intentions or assumptions, these two facts still remain:
1. Shredder wasn't killed.
2. Shredder wasn't human.
What I asked about is any "for-sure" HUMAN deaths caused by the turtles.
As much as I would like to think that the turtles killed someone with their weapons, or indeed their bare hands, it all comes back to the fact that we are talking about a kid's show. I don't think that they will encourage kids to kill people by slicing their throat or something. No. As much as everyone here would love to see that, it's forbidden territory in the world of children's entertainment.
On the other hand, I'm sure that a few Foot Soldiers were killed in explosions, and possibly died of blood loss from fights with the turtles, or were perminantly crippled, if that helps. Though I think it didn't...

Actually I don't think the viewers are supposed to think of things like that. We're sick.

Many people have died in the cartoon though. They were not killed by the turtles though.
Shredder is the main killer, these come to mind:
1. Purple Dragon leader in "Things Change"
2. Hamato Yoshi
3. Those people that fell when the bay opened for the space ship in "Exodus part 1"

Yeah, I'm willing to bet that not all of the Foot the Turtles leave strewn all over rooftops and such are still breathing. However, there has never been a Turtle-caused onscreen death to my knowledge. A pretty high implied bodycount, but only one blatant beheading of what turned out to be an exosuit.
And yeah, Karai was missile'd in SAINW, but unfortunately April did it.

Oh, and don't forget Tan Shin from "A Tale of Master Yoshi". Though she wasn't killed by Shredder, she was most definatly killed. I actually liked her death though, since it seemed a fresh change from Shredder murdering her all the time. This time, instead of being killed for revenge by Shredder against Yoshi, she was killed by an envious friend of Yoshi's who used to love her. Though they didn't show any blood or cuts, or even a slash in her kimono when her body was shown to Yoshi, I think it may have been one of the best deaths in the series thus far.

So yeah...that explains why Leo decapitated Shredder oblivious to the fact he was a Utrom.

I don't know siblings are quite annoying. Then again you just compared a thousand year old brain like alien in a metal robot suit to a girl. I don't know many boys or girls who view their sister as Shredder.

There have been plenty of times when they've tried to kill 'em. I can't shake the image of Don launching missiles directly into the occupied cabin of a truck one time... but all deaths in the 2K3 series have been off-screen, implied deaths.
And yeah it did sound like Permanently Peeved Leo snapped that guard's neck in Dragon's Brew!
I love horror movies, but I don't really need to see the turtles killing people on-screen. The implication is plenty for me.

Death doesnt happen in cartoons, they just magically go away. :D

True, Buslady. And I'm not sure how the parents would have reacted, when they saw their kids watching cartoon killing sprees...
But to the deaths, all have made good points - and with all those ninjas falling off the rooftops along the series, of course someone died. Unless they landed on their feet like cats or are just as tough as Hun (who somehow survived falling off a building and straight into a police car in... I think it was "touch and Go" ).

The turtles certainly have no qualms about useing deadly force in this series and you see it in just about every episode. And the implication that the turtles do kill is present as well.
In Scion of the Shredder Raphael is seen going into an elevator where a handful of foot ninja follow and they do battle. In the next scene they show Raphel coming out of the elevator and the foot do not. Which inplies that he either killed them or he mearly nocked them out. But given the intensity of the situation it is more than likely that he killed them all. I think Raphael killed them.
Lets not forget Leonardo who attentionally cut off Shredder's head with out knowing he is robot. And that time he snapped that gaurds neck in Dragon's Brew. Or in the same episode where he had Hun down and and drew his sword and was about to advance on him.
there is the episode Donatello kills the Shredder in a alternate reality, and also several instances where you see him shooting missils at enemies. Umm chances he was attending to kill them.
In Touch and Go Michelangelo intensionally throws Touch and Go out of a sevral story window to the ground below, and even went to look down on them after he had down it. He was trying to kill them, and if he had succedded in doing so I think it would have been the first on screen death in the series.
Then there is also that incident where Raphael loses his temper and went after Michelangelo with a pipe. Now it can be debated if he actually had the attention of killing him or not. But there was definately some intent to do harm in that instance. However I belive that Raphael was just suffering a moment of impassioned rage and had no real desire to actually kill Mikey.
However all these examples show that the turtles use deadly force when they are fighting. And why not, they are warriors and warriors sometimes kill. I don't think the turtles would ever kill in any other instance than in the heat of battle. However I think out of all the turtles Rapahel and Leonardo are shown useing deadly force the most I think. Its very rare to see Mikey or Don kill. It might be argued that they show more restraint that Leo and Raph but will kill if the situatuation calls for it. And I think this show goes out of its way to show that the turtles have morals and ethics. It gives a sort of realism to the show.

There was a good fan fic about what IF Raph had actually beat the crap out of Mikey with that pipe.

Not on screen. I mean the Utroms a "force of good" were not even allowed to sentance a mass murderer (And one with one of the highest deathcounts in cartoons to boot. Millions of people died thanks to the Shredder who started countless wars on countless planets. And has no problem killing for himself.) to death.
Mikey is allowed to pull the pins out of live gernades of an alien when the alien is still wearing them but killing humans are a no no.
I mean look at City of war. No death count was even talked about until rouge in the house when shredder mentioned that the foot lost a lot of ninja in the street war. The war itself not a single mobster foot or purple Dragon was seemed to be killed on or off screen.
TMNT took risks while still playing itsafe. I mean they had no problem killing but had a huge problem saying any kill or die work unless it was general or as a joke.

personally I think that is lame. Not being able to say words like death, die, or kill in an action cartoon is pretty prudish if you ask me. Heck even the old toon that isn't even as serious as the New could say words like kill, dead and die. Remeber Rocksteady's imfamous line:
"Drink blazing electric death toitles!" right when he is shooting at them.
But the new toon has to content it self to saying "destruction" and "perish" when talking about death or making threats. :|

Yeah but words like destruction and perish make it sound cooler.

meh, that is all a manner of opinion. To me it sounds akward when you see these big tough gheto street thug like characters threatneing people with violence or death and say words like "perish". Ugh, it just sounds weird and too cultured for some characters to be saying that.
Although a tolarable substitute for the word "die" that I've heard use in this series is the saying: "the big dirt nap". Which comes off not so lame as perish and seems more incharacter for the most part.

What about Baxter Stockman? I mean really how many times have they killed him?
I keep reading the title of this thread as "When should the TMNT have killed humans?"

I find that interesting, as parents will take underage kids to movies which contain violence and death (then complain, after THEY got them in, how it 'scarred' them)...
And I totally forgot where I was going with that. Darn meds.
Too bad it's not rated higher. I mean, parents and kids flock to movies much more violent than this... the very fact that this is an exception because it's a cartoon is odd to me.

...Ok, I'mma go lie down now...I hate this - the way Western audiences assume that since it's a cartoon it MUST be for kids. Unless it's a poorly-animated adult cartoon in some garish style. Ugh.
When I explain TMNT 2k3 to people, I say that they made a cartoon for teens, but sold it to kids. And then have a mini-rant about Fast Forward.

Mikey say "We're all going to die" in "Secret Origins Pt.1" when the Utrom ship is about to crash, even if it is only a simulation .....
