Shouldn't this be a good thing for the turtles though? I mean if 4Kids isn't going to make new shows, that means they will have to focus on shows they already have right? Or did I take this the wrong way? Is 4Kids going off the air?

yowza meyowza this is not good...not good at all..:| :x :dead:
I think its only One Piece though,
and the ninja trubunal was finished so it won't affect it, the dvd was already delayed though.
though didn't murphy said there were some early talks to see if someone picked up a new tmnt?

Might be referring to a series continuation under a new animation team, like the original series with Red Sky. CW would be a good spot for it, as it's the place for ratings grabbers like The Batman and SASDGAC

This is great news, shut those bastards down. Once they fall on their ass some other company will come up and take on all these shows. And then maybe TMNT will be able to thrive. Or it and everything on the network will be trashed. With a possibility of it being re-birthed later on a new network/Saturday Morning slot.
So it's not just TMNT that's doing bad! It's the other shows to. So it's quite possible TMNT is doing bad because no one knows to watch it. You turn on 4Kids and you see WINX Club you cringe and change the channel. So you never see that ad that tells you when TMNT is going to be on.

I dont see how this says TMNT is cancelled. All it said was One Peice. Plus it says new 'shows', not new 'episodes'. Theres a difference. I mean i'll agree, with this news it doesnt look that good for TMNT, but i still don't see anything confirmed.

A 4kids representive confirmed it in the e-mail.
No new shows means no new seasons of anything, TMNT is a show, Sigma Sux is a show, no new shows mean no new seasons, that's why they split FF in two.

So does this mean 4Kids TV is being phased out? Because if thats the case, good riddance. Those bastards screwed the TMNT out of the proper ratings, that network deserves to die.

I don't think you're interpeting that correctly. 4kids wants to focus on their own shows rather than licensed ones.
4kids renewed 4kidsTV for another two years on Fox, so they have another year of 4kidsTV in September. You think they're not going to have anything new besides 13 eps of FF and their other junk?
It is very possible that after the last 13 eps of FF and the 12 eps of Ninja Tribunal that the series is done, but who knows if the movie will revive interest or whatnot.

Even if it does 4Kids could still can the show, and then Laird would have to move networks. Just wish he wasn't contract bound to 4Kids or he could have a long time ago.

Is that even possible for the show to remain in continuity with the 2k3 series but be developed by a different company and have the same voice actors and writers and everything?

That all depends on the terms of their agreements. Only the individuals involved would know. The common answer is that the rights to the series could conceivably be sold, but certain changes in crew would be likely inevitable due to public relations issues. I'm not familliar with any other television distributor associated with Dong Woo Animation. But, if 4Kids discontinues Dong Woo's obligation... Never say never. ;)

It would be nice if Mirage can somehow work a deal with another company if 4kids does indeed end the show after FF.
I'd hate to see them lose everything they built up from all these seasons, because if another new TMNT cartoon comes down the road we'd be back to square 1 again and have continuity restarted in a brand new cartoon. I don't think I can tolerate watching the Turtles meet April for the first time yet AGAIN.
I'm sure Laird would also want to see the Tales Vol. 2 comics and some of Volume 4 adapted into eps as well. Would be nice for another company to return them to the present after FF, (unless the Turtles do indeed get back to the present in the last ep of FF), and continue from there.

Ah Ic well while adult swim does have some good programs I highly doubt they would bring Ninja Turtles into the line up.
No one takes the Turtles seriously besides us fans and even then I wonder heh.
I really think the turtles would be best on kids wb on on an evening line up on the wb to me the next step after fox would be wb not cartoon network.
Oddly enough I think more folks would watch the show on wb rather than say the fox box the show needs to be on a tv chanel that every who doesn't have cable can watch it.

I'll pretty much put this to bed right now, myself.
If 4Kids goes bankrupt (which is inevitable) I do not want them to continue the current TMNT...
Here's why. I'd love to see some sort of Maxx/Spawn type TMNT show, based entirely off the comics. No crazy catchphrases, no wacky personalities, no color co-ordinated masks, basically just the original Mirage comic animated. And of course, I'd love to say they'd have special guest writers, much like their old cartoon series. Maybe random episodes based off the random storylines. Like Zuli type epsisodes one week, a Hedden/McWenie (sp?) style show the next. Something like that.
But all I can say is 4Kids doesn't know business if it hit them on the butt singing the "Let's talk about business" song. They destoryed the chances of a hugely popular series from Japan... they made a cartoon based off a video game that didn't even come out until November... they sold their souls semi-unsuccessfully to the idiot tweenage girl demographic... and TMNT has lackluster ratings, and it's their anchor show.
The unfair disadvantage is cable. No doubt about it. Not everyone can afford cable. This is why all networks and syndication have pulled any children's programming off the afternoon line up in favor of bullcrap Small Claims court garbage and talk shows starring nobodies, like Greg Berherher or whatever.
Now, I do admit, I do like their dub of Kirby. I dunno why. Their dub of Ultimate Muscle wasn't bad, considering Toei already effed the cartoon up. No wonder no one likes it. But other than that, One Piece was hacked to death and put on crappy time slots, and I dunno what happened to Shaman King. Did it really end like that? I dunno. And I'm still pissed they didn't give Funky Cops a chance. I can't believe that hillarious send up of the 1970's was made by the same B.S. animation studio that made Winx. but then again, this explains why they didn't take Monster Allergy. Then again, maybe the fact it's just Danny Phantom mixed with Fosters Home for Imaginary Monsters put them off.
I'm really guessing this has a LOT to do with Nintendo getting greedy and self dubbing Pokemon. What do you think?
Spitfire
12-07-2006, 12:51 PM
Well The Maxx show was canned before it even got close to the whole point of the comic, and they tried to cram that truth into the last episode.
The Spawn show, if I remember correctly, started shy away from the comic story a bit and go do it's own thing. But I could be wrong.
Anyways a TMNT show with red masks would be quite boring in my opinion. The color gives personality. In the comics they don't need the colors their in black and white. But in a TV series it seems more necessary. There is a reason the colors were kept. They could have done red when the new series came out but they chose to use the same colors again.
Also watching a moving comic gets boring. I love The Maxx show, the Hellsing show is cool to but I read the comic, I read the manga already. An exact copy of it starts to put me to sleep. Cool to see it move and all but pointless at the same time because it's so similar. I might as well just read the comic.
Why I like the new series is they took comic stories but changed them up enough to make them somewhat a new tale.

Maybe, but that's no reason to make their weapons color-coordinated.

Actually, I didn't really know too much about the Maxx and Spawn shows. I was giving a rough example. Something more edgy for adults on another network.
I also really wish they'd do the same for The Tick, especially since that live action one bombed.
Anyway, if they're still on for 2 more years, and they aren't making any new shows of any kind, do you think that maybe after FF is done with, we'll finally see the Lost Tribunal eps?

Funny thing... I bet they would have animated TMNT anyway if Kid's WB did it. Also, notice Jackie Chan in there. I noticed a similarity in style. Plus, there is a brief refference to Casey Jones in the Halloween episode of the Oni Mask saga. At one point they hold his EXACT hockey mask.
Masked Ninja
12-07-2006, 02:43 PM
I wouldn't mind seeing a short Mirage-based series. One that only means to be 13 epsiodes or so - adapt the best stories and put their best effort into the quality. The downside is it'd be over all too soon - but hopefully what would come out would be absolutely awesome.
I like the colored masks also... but I think with voice actors and even subtle design differences from turtle to turtle, it'd be pretty easy to figure out who's who even without their weapons. I'd like to see the all-red-masks idea tried in animation at least once.

Isn't One Piece the only anime left for 4Kids to finish having dubbed?
Drtooth
12-09-2006, 01:49 PM
I dunno... I mean, that's either still going or it's just finnished. I saw a bootlegg of more recent episodes reguarding them rescuing Robin from the Marines or something. Usopp was a superhero or something, and there was some weird samurai guy that kept trying to commit seppuku, and he was too invinsible for it to happen. I dunno. It was raw Japanese, no subtitles, and it was midway through the story, so everything was REALLY confusing.
What I want to know is did they stop dubbing Shaman King, or did it end like that anyway?
The other question is, will they be making more stupid shows inhouse or something, like Pinata? Or will their next 2 years be souly reruns of previous shows?
CyberCubed

TMNT is technically considered an in-house 4kids production, isn't it?
If they're focusing on their own shows, TMNT may be what they keep. We also have to factor Playmates into the equation. If the Fast Foward and Movie figure lines do well, Playmates is going to want the show to continue. Murphy said they have strong influence on the show as well.
I dunno, seeing the Turtles back in the present but with the FF style didn't bother me too much in "The Journal." I wouldn't mind if that's what Season 7 looks like....

GI Joe Sigma Six
One Piece
Yu Gi Oh! GX
Pokemon
Plus you could inluced the other side of with Yu Gi Oh! Cap Mons. Though at a time 4Kids did dub the hell out of a ton of anime.. and god was it horrible.

They do dub GI-Joe but when it all comes down to it... Hasbro owns that property.
I think the same can be said for Bratz though it's not in their camp they do the voice work for it.
4kids current development includes the new series Chaotic, Viva Pinata, TMNT Fast Forward and voice over work on Sigma Six and Bratz for the rest of the season and possibly some yet to air episodes of dubs like DoReMi, Yu-Gi-Oh! GX and such. The e-mail is being interpreted in various ways. But it could very well mean 4kids has stopped production on all shows and all they have now is what they're going to have for the indefinite future.
4kids is currently in the red and their finanacial situation doesnt look to be improving any time soon. So it may be the case that they don't have the money to continue producing ANYTHING. We'll have to wait and see.

Given the way that they've been treating the TMNT (together with us, the TMNT's loyal fans), AND the bogus way that they've been advertising certain shows (Chaotic comes to mind at the moment, just as an example), I CAN'T say that THAT surprises ME just a whole lot.

Yes. Yes. Definatly. Yes. Definatly.
4Kids isn't licencing anymore anime for the time being and are focusing on developing their own material (ussually with partners, I.E. Rare with Viva Pinata) and Chaotic. Turtles is done in house, and Playmates is a partner in that, so they will have a lot of say in whether or not we see new episodes. If the movie does well there is a good chance we will see more episodes, if even just 13 more to end the series properly.
From what I've seen of the movie so far it looks pretty good.
