View Full Version : In Your Opinion, What's Better: 12'' Figs or 5''?

I ask because I walked into the store today and saw no 5'' figs except Splinter. But I saw all the 12''. So I considered getting the 12'' Donatello, but I started thinking that the 5'' ones come with more weapons, probably more articulation, and they are cheaper.

But then I thought so more. I'm 19 years old. And, though I love the turtles and watch the original movie annually like it's some American classic, I highly doubt I'll be sitting on the floor PLAYING with these toys like I did some 10-12 years ago. And thinking about it, it seems that the 5'' ones are more for play, and the 12'' ones are more for admiration and detail.

So I'm curious, what do you like more. Assume you could afford all of the 5'' or 12'' figs. Which in your mind is a better buy and why?

Well Pac Man, im a fan of the 5' figs just because they are cheaper and you can display them and they look just as nice as the 12' figs, also if you get a little 9 yr old spurt you can play with them.

I'm on the same line of thinking. To play or display? Well, honestly, the 5" figures look just as good as the 12". I bought one 12" of my Raphael-kun and am going to get the 5" of all the others, including Raph to play with and display. Honestly, I could easily afford all four 12" turtles, but I'm not going to.

The smaller figures look just as good on display and are a lot cheaper than the larger ones. Plus they get vehicles and more weapons. And they get bad guys. And can be put in more intersting poses.

There's my two cents.

I personally would go with the 5" as well...not only can you get more of em if you are restricted to a budget, but you can play around with them unlike the big and bulky 12". However, if you're looking for simple admiration and detail, I suggest you look in the direction of the cold cast line of the turtles. Although a bit pricy, you are paying for extensive detail on each of the fellas in their action poses.

5", anything else justgets rediculous. I actually prefer 4", and am not to fond at all of the Mcfarlane 1997 and beyond standard every company tries to mimick. I hate all toys Mcfarlane, and am glad they didnt go in that grotesque direction for the new Playmates line.

I never bought any of the toys in the Mcfarlane line but I thought they looked pretty cool. Yeah, they were grotesque but they had some nice details...

Spawn was cool. Not as cool as TMNT though. :P

i have all the figures except the foot soldier and i plan on getting 8 of them when i can find them, but i personally beleive that the 5" figs are better. they have more poseability, more accesories, there's more characters, and i've noticed a flaw in the bigger figures. the head to body ratio of the 5 inchers is perfect, but the 12 inch figures' heads are a bit small. anyone with both figures check it out.

Gosh... I think TMNT action figures done by Sam Winston would be awesome.

So anyways, personally i don't own any of the new figures but i guess i'd prefer the "12 ones, assuming i can afford any of the two, i'd buy that one  it's not as articulated as the "5 ones or so i've readed but still, it looks cooler imo.
There i answered your question, Now i'll ask YOU a question.
