TMNT Special Edition DVD's

Would you rather them release a set with all 3 movies (Like The Mummy, Jurassic Park sets that are now out) or Separatly.
I can definatly see this being a set. It's a way to drive up the price and make everyone buy all the movies. Otherwize, if they sold them separatly, I can sere the sales of the 3rd movie not being as good as the other 2.

His point here is "if the TMNT movies would get Special Edition releases, would they be better suited for release individually or as a set?" I'm all for the reissuing of TMNT1 as a single-sided disc. I hate double-sided because you can't avoid getting finger prints on them. And, this particular one seems to be a magnet for lent and other such debris.

Either way would be fine, i'd prefer something like the new Jurassic Park set, I also think its the most likely way.

The current 'box set' is really just the three movies in cheap card board pack on the three releases. not really a 'box set'.

It's a set they put in a box though. So, technically... But, if we said that no set in a box is a boxset unless that's the only way it's available, then I guess boxsets aren't too common. But, IMO, it only requires the distributor to repackage them in a box (however cheap and flimsy) to be considered a boxset. That's what retailers think to avoid confusing people. But, I get what you're saying, sdp.

The keyword for this post wasn't supposed to be boxset, it was supposed to be Special Edition. We know how the movies are currently sold.

Maybe individual would be the best. I mean if they all have the same material just seperate, then I don't see what the difference is.

And for casual fans of the old movies, they probably wouldn't want to shell out the amount of money for three special edition dvds at once. They might want to buy one of the movies, and then after watching it, since they are so good, they might buy the others! But it's baby steps people. :lol:

Yea, I think I've watched the 3rd movie once since I was a kid, and since then I haven't watched it. (because i didn't like it) But, if it was a special edition...idk I think I'd just have to own the worst TMNT movie ever.

Ironically....when I was a kid I watched the third movie all the time. I think because when it came out I was a little older and was able to remember seeing it and had a desire to see it, but for the first 2 I was like....3 and 5.

Definitely seperate, because I would only buy the first one. I've been wanting to see the deleted scenes from that one forever!

I really want a Special Edition of the first. Not necessarily a longer cut of the film, but at least the deleted scenes, and commentary, and a cool documentary ( a new one)talking about how the film was made. I mean, wouldnt it be cool to see a retrospective doc that talked about how the screenplay came to be, how the suits were made, and interviews that are the promoting mumbo jumbo you get from the time of theatrical release.

And also, a new transfer. My dvd is really, really, grainy. SOme of it seems as if it were artisticly done, like during splinter's 'how we came to be' stories, but then the rest of it is incositant. Like one shot will be perfect, the next grainy.

if they were to add a bunch of special features and all for each movie i'd definitely rather get them in a box set rather than individually. i don't currently have the movies on dvd (still have them on VHS) but am really waiting for something like that to come along before i buy.

I've yet to purchase any of the TMNT films on DVD (though I do own the first two on VHS), so a Special Edition box set would be pretty rad. If, that is, all three movies were given the same treatment -- and not just the first film.

I voted for individual releases. A box set would be nice, but I HATE double dipping. It depends on what the special features would be. If they had ANY good special features I'd definately do it for one. I'd do two if it had a commentary. Three, I'm not sure.

I already have all 3 movies on DVD (seperately.) Also, there is a trilogy box set of the movies out. So now I'm confused as to why we're saying "IF". :-?

Edit: Although if we're talking special editions, they ought to do a box set with an extra disc loaded with special features.

I'd pay $50 for a SE Box Set. Also, I'd want there to be 4 DVDs in the set that, when placed together, make a cool TMNT Picture. The 4th DVD should include documentaries (making of) retrospectives, posters, art, fanart, and music videos.

The DVDs themselves should have director/actor voiceover commentaries in which they comment on the movie throughout the features. There should also be a storyboard mode, in which the storyboard is displayed with the sounds of the movie in the background with timing.

There should be an option to watch the "Theatrical" version, and the "Directors Cut" with extended and deleted scenes.

They should call it,
"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtle Power Edition"

Has anyone heard anymore yet on these? I'm still hearing rumors that they might be coming, hopefully we hear something for sure soon. I still haven't caved on buying TMNT 1 or 2 yet, holding out for the hopeful SEs.

Lion's Gate is doing their first box set to tie-in with the movie. Funimation/4Kids is doing a complete Season 1 set. WTF is New Line waiting for?? Their films probably relate to this movie more than either one of the 'toons do.

i work for a DVD company in Hong Kong called Joy Sales ( www.joysales.com.hk ) and we currently have a deal with Fortune Star (the company that owns the Golden Harvest, Golden Princess, and other old movies from the 70s to the 90s. yes, this includes the Ninja Turtles movies). basically, my job is to re-translate their movies. anyway, what i'm trying to say is, what i can do is attempt to convince my boss to release the TMNT films in a remastered boxset collection. it sounds a little crazy but someone's gotta try.

edit: i know Fortune Star owns the rights to TMNT 1&2. not sure about TMNT 3. i've actually never seen it available in any released home video format (imported from Hong Kong) before.

There are no "rumors" about TMNT special editions besides fan speculation I beleive,
the only thing we may have to beleive of a release is that Murphy Mentioned for the "giant" TMNT figures they wanted to releae them with one of the three movies but they were only allowed to use the third one.

You can get all three packaged together for 20$ or separate for 7.50 so the current release is good enough to buy even if you end up double dipping (hopefull) later.

Well they are obviously not being planned for the movie release, and if they don't announce them to cash in on the DVD release i doubt we will see it then ;(

If the movie does extremely well though i'm sure they'd release them.

Right now, they have about the same amount of movies for each platform (Despite the HD-DVD being out longer) and blueray has way more exclusive partners than HD-DVD. Also, Vivid Video is exclusive to Blueray, so, you know you'll cave in eventually. ;-)

just spoke to my boss in Hong Kong and suggested a remastered dvd release of the TMNT movies. of course, this would be targeted to Hong Kong and Macau in the region 3 area but it's still better than nothing. it's now under consideration and even if it's not out in time for theatrical release, it can be released in time for the DVD release of the new TMNT movie.

previous home video releases of TMNT 1 & 2 include the laserdisc by Star Entertainment in the 90's, and VCD & DVD releases by Megastar (when they held the Fortune Star license).

Voted box set. I have the Robocop box set, meaning I happen to own Robocop 3. Oh well, it was worth it for 1 and 2. TMNT 3 might be fun on a rainy day, although I've never gone out of my way to buy the individual movie.

i can attempt to get a remastered dvd released for TMNT 1 and 2. i can't guarantee anything for TMNT 3. as far as i know, there has been no home video release for TMNT3 in Hong Kong (i guess that goes enough to show that even Golden Harvest didn't like TMNT3). and i'm gonna make sure that the english audio will be available. however, i don't think any effort will be made on bonus supplements.

I would consider buying them, since I only have the first release of the first movie. But If they are sepperate disks, I'll only get TMNT 1 if the Special features are good.
