Civil War! It's here, it's happening and it's big. Way more interesting than DC's Infinite Crisis and all its trainwreck-offshoots turned out to be. Who knows what the Marvel Universe will look like after the War's ended? Well, me and the lads and lasses from Newsarama do:

This is apparently the cover of the FF-issue dated March 2007, drawn by no other than Michael Turner himself. Be amazed for Cap's people seem to have won. At least on the FF's side.

And here's the news for Doom: There's no Reed Richards on the team. Maybe Jessica Alba has filed for divorce. But then again, there's no Jessica Alba on the team either... Could it be a renew-the-wedding-honeymoon with lots of stretchy horizontal-polka?

All in all, I hope that this change isn't permanent, since the FF are supposed to be Marvel's First Family and although Storm and T'Challa (son of T'Chakka, who has the coolest name ever) are married, this just doesn't feel right.

Dwayne McDuffie replacing half the FF with black people? NEVER SAW THAT COMING!!!111!!

But yeah, this is only a temporary thing, I'm sure. Like the last "New Fantastic Four" where they replaced the regulars with Wolverine, Hulk, Spider-Man and Ghost Rider. That lasted, like three issues.

Dwayne McDuffie writes great stories and he is great with fans. I've written numerous mails to him about his Statc-character and how he adapted well to the small screen and he replied. But what I do not like is his almost psychotic need to include at least fifty percent black people in whatever he does. I mean, there are black people in this world, I get that. But if you give them privileged status or putting them in places where they just don't fit for the sake of having them around, then you turn the whole "Everyone's equal"-wish of the people of yesteryear ad absurdum. And that's sad. You're not doing the whole "Black empowerment thing", you're ridiculing it. And that's something that shouldn't happen.

I mean, see what happened to the gay character in comics. There's characters around that are only there to be gay. Like the gay guy from Manhunter or Renee Montoya in 52 (completely disregarding Gotham Central now). Or the raped characters. When raped and thus emo women became all the rage, every female superhero or villain absolutely had to be raped sooner or later (the new Hawkeye from the Young Avengers for example). This again, turns the sensitive dealing with the whole issue ad absurdum.

That's pretty much true, all the way around.

I like McDuffie's writing. I like it a LOT. I mean, he wrote most of JLU and that wasn't just one of the best Timm/Dini shows ever made, it was one of the best cartoon shows ever made PERIOD.

However, like LeSean Thomas, he goes out of his way to include as many black people as possible for the sole purpose of...including black people. And racial pandering is really just sad. He's a MUCH better writer than that.

Still, I sorta jumped the gun ridiculing the new FF roster. They needed a husband and wife duo to replace Sue and Reed. Not a lot of them out there, and Storm and Black Panther, having just been married, are the new "it" couple.

So it's not entirely racial pandering. At least not this time.

One wonders how Johnny will deal with Sis being replased by another Storm....

This is a very interesting development... :o :ohwell:

McDuffie's writing FF?!?

O boy! I just bought JLU Season One and I can't wait to see more of this guy's writing!

And that cover, by the way, is pure awesomeness!
