If civilizations from another planet decided to attempt to conquer earth (Yes, like War of the Worlds) , do you think Man would be able to fend them off? Think about it, there's the possibility that they may have technology that's eons ahead of ours.

They will most likely be faster than we are. A lot faster. Also, there's multiple scenarios.
The most popular one is the one that they promise us to get rid of Godzilla for us by bringing him to their homeworld, Planet X, where he can battle King Ghidorrah all day long. Then they'll reveal that they have undermined the human governments with Cyborgs, whose names they pronounce Kee-Bork because of some regional galactic dialect. Then we will throw all our armies at them, complete with lasershooting satellite dishes. They will, because they're far superior to us, win and drive humanity from water's edge to the deserts, because they were after the water all along. In a daring mission, two astronauts will then fly to Asteroid X and get Godzilla back. They'll take King Ghidorrah with them as a blind passenger. On earth, the two monsters ally to defeat the aliens before going at each other's throats, during which King Ghidorrah loses a head. Shortly before the aliens crash into a mountain of their choosing they'll open a comlink to Earth's allied forces and yell "Frankenstein, our master, help us!" to which some Earth-scientist will reply "Frankenstein? I knew it all along!!!" and with Godzilla marching back into the ocean after having eradicated both the human and alien army as well as pretty much wrecked a city and almost King Ghidorrah, humanity can move back to the waterfront. We win... but at what cost?
Another theory is that they'd just start randomly blowing up various points of interest and that the president, an alcoholic and a wisecracking fighter-pilot get to save earth, not without losing millions or billions of lives.
Either way, I say we're screwed.

And, as usual, they'll invade Poland first.
And, as usual, they'll invade Poland first.
And, as usual, Australia will be last. Which will give me enough time to ask them if they want an artist to draw their ruler in the liking of characters with big heads and eyes :P

If another planet's civilisation did come to Earth then they would be far more advanced than us because we didn't have the technology to go to their planet first. Therefore, we'd be screwed.

Well if it was like War of the Worlds, wouldn't we just need a few amoebas to kill off the aliens?

Not nessicerily. I was asking what would happen if lifeforms from another planet came to conquer us, in a similar scenerio. But not quite the same aliens, per say.

I'd say we're in trouble.
Remember, if they get here, that means that they have the technology or even sheer strength in their bodies to go millions or thousands of light years. That means they are much more advanced than us.
Yeah, what Jo said. Other lifeforms that try to invade us will surely come prepared. I mean, look at "Animorphs". They'll come in numbers and either use their natural abilities to take over, or they will use their technology to inslave us all, quickly and/or quietly.
So, unless we can get the perprabla of the earth's inner molten core to hook up with a powercore that can fire quantim beams at 294 rounds per micro second, thus creating a charged quantim shield around the earth for 2483 light years, I'd say we are pretty much done for :P

I think it would be a-okay as long as we have Morgan Freeman's narration to point out the bacteria.
