god I love how he described Raph: .....Except for maybe Raph who is obviously insanely male and very testosteroney.

CS/SHH!: So how does Michelangelo take out a bad guy?
Munroe: He uses his numb chucks. I think in "Turtles 2" you guys didn't use any weapons right?
Gray: Vanilla Ice.
*snickersnicker* but yeah. good article :D

a Splinter voice over to open the film as well---classy :D
i'm looking forward to hearing who they sign off on for the soundtrack. Somthing along the lines of Dashboard Confessional's "Vindictated" or Train's "Ordinary" FROM Spidey 2 would be sweet IMO

I wouldn't imagine he would fill in for Splinter, but now that I read the name, I'll wondering if he's the voice saying "Every three thousand years, the stars align" in the trailer. Most of you will know him as Morpheus from the Matrix trilogy.

Not to knock your opinion, but I just can't see that kind of song fitting the TMNT. I could'nt really see it fitting Spidey. Mind you, Spidey 2 the game had that kick ass revamped theme from The Distillers, so maybe something along those lines.

I say that because in the superherohype visit they say that he's doing some narration for them. And in the film we know the above stated run down is from Winters who is played by Patrick Stewart and goign from the set visits the film starts with a Splinter narration

CS/SHH!: Do you have a running time yet?
Gray: I think we're at 81 and change, and then probably five on getting out credits, the end credits. We're toying now with some kind of visual at the end so it's not just an endless 500 people endlessly crawling there. It'll be music over that. We have a deal with Atlantic Records who are coming up with various groups to drop in. It won't be when we had SBK, we had a lot of that techno sound, Ya Kid K, and all that, Vanilla Ice.

No, I want to damn movie to be at least 100 minutes! God I hope it's not 81 minutes. Does anyone remember the length of the first movie? I think it was around 90 minutes.

I noticed that too.
With all the movies these days lasting for 2+ hours... yeah 81 minutes would be a disappointment.

That's trailer trickery, showing Max turning his back as part of that line is heard...they also show Donny's mouth moving as Leo says "That can't be good". The person saying that line might be Laurence Fishburne, but it definitely isn't Patrick Stewart. Heck, it might be neither...they may have just used a placeholder voice for the trailer, as Patrick Stewart wasn't signed on/announced until a bit more recently.
I think that maybe Fishburne narrates the Legend of Yaotl. Just a guess. I agree the 81 minutes just doesn't cut it. 'Borat' was 80 or so mintues and seemed too short. I can't imagine how they'd fit TMNT in that short time. Hopefully it's not as rushed as the novelization makes it out to be. They mention the ban on Mikey's weapon--is that for the US as well? He mentions that in the UK, they're only allowed to show it in a belt. That would suck if the US got the same treatment. And the more I read this interview (and I'm pretty sure of this), the more I feel that The Shredder is coming in the second (if made hopefully) installment. I mentioned a while back about the 'Batman Begins' Joker ending, and it seems they took a cue from that (not my post...the movie). I think that's great, as just that information enough should stir the masses to watch it. I have a feeling that the sequel will be amazing if made. They also talk about the DVD and I hate the fact that it's the studio's responsibility on what makes it on there. They also talked about an extended cut (scenes that were banned/extended scenes/etc) of the movie and the possibility of gradually getting up to PG-13. Kevin and Tom sure know what they're doing and I'm sure they're going to deliver as promised.

I seriously doubt that's Laurance Fishburn in the trailer and I know that's not Patrick in the trailer but Patrick plays Winters in the film, the lines in the trailer are for Winters character, and Laurance has been stated as being in the film. His adding Splinter lines theory is based on the set visit saying he does some narration in the film
its just a theory though

I think the ban means that they have to edit the film in other markets--like how for the original film they had to cut out some of Mikey's footage.
I do like how he said they dealt with the fighting stuff--with them animating the fighting how they wanted to do it and then basically seeing what they could get away with and making the adjustments afterwards. it looks like they did'nt limit themselves based on what they thought they could'nt get away with. they did'nt hold back unless they had to basically. I like that
with the runtime they did say that they are still working on it and it is'nt due until mid Feb. Alot can change between now and then.
To add on that, not just fighting but the movie overall. Thomas Gray mentions,
"And we didn't really cut it back, to be honest, if that cut that we really wanted to make was it, we'd be PG-13. So we pulled back some of the things that were pointed out to us, some of the sharpness, some of the monsters were too over the top, we pulled back in the effects and the music, so, it's not gonna really...it's not that dramatic. But, again, if it does work, I don't know if the studio would allow us to do a 13 again. I certainly would like to do it, grow the franchise in that direction but I'm not sure."
So the movie, as is, is good enough to garner a PG-13 rating. The studios asked them to remove/change things to bring it down, just over the boundary, which I think is what they wanted to do all along. So I'm satisfied by that. Now just make the running time longer and I'll be satisfied. And who knows, if more installments are made, maybe they can hit PG-13 like the Harry Potter films did.

I was almost thinking that Lawrence Fishbourne might be the voice of Observer. A robot like creature that has been watching over the earth for thousands of years. But then again the Observer is obviously female....but it (?) narrates the story in Legend of Yaotl.. So who knows...maybe he is Splinter.

Good read, 81 minutes seems short hopefully it translates better on screen. Dang the British government and their nunchuck hating. Ooh Atlantic Rcords is handling the soundtrack i'd love to see Lupe Fiasco do a track for the movie.

My guess on Larry Fishburne's character
the shredder...probably not likely, but if i had to guess, thatll be it
or who knows, he could just be some yuppy..maybe even Winter's second in command? if he even has a second in command

81 minutes is a pathetic run time for a movie. 90 is minimum and that's BEFORE credits. This 81 includes 5 minutes of credits. That pisses me off, but other then that the interview moved me along with the hype I had before.

The movie time along with them saying that it's a fast paced movie now makes me worry that it's too fast paced, hurried maybe even. I don't mind a movie that moves fast, but within reason.

The comments Kevin Munroe made about the Nunchuks make no sense at all!
That ban in the UK has been lifted a good while now, and the first movies release on DVD two years ago made it clear in it's advertising that the dualing Nunchuku scene with Mikey and the Foot had been restored.
The same goes for Bruce Lee's movies, all DVD's have had the Nunchuku scenes restored, so I don't understand what Kevin's talking about.
I emailed the BBC before the new cartoon came out in 2003 and they said that sences featuring the Nunchuku wouldn't be a problem, and thus all Mikey's scenes in the cartoon with his weapons in hand, and in battle scenes have been present and uncensored.
So these comments have me really confused and worried, because back in 1990 the original movie was completely butchered in the UK, with almost every scene featuring Mikey cut.

Exactly a movie that's fast paced should be 2 hours. Casino Royale felt like 2 hours but it was really an two and a half. And V For Vendetta felt like 2 hours but was really 90 minutes. Slow paced movies should be shorter, as fast longer, but obviously that doesn't go into effect with this movie.
And the chuck comment didn't make sense to me, either did the ninja star one. They have stars and chucks in a TV program but not in the movie? Stupid.

You think this 81 minute running time is going to be a set back? Seems kind of short to me. I also don't understand the comments made on how they had to cut around the use of the weapons. I mean, the new cartoon has not problem showcasing them on a regular basis on a Saturday morning, why would the movie be any different?
Also, they claim they wanted a PG-13 movie, but the contract called for a PG. If this movie does well, you think they'll have more negotiating room, to well, negotiate for a PG-13 film?

yeah that confused me too! the name "ninja", the nunchaku scenes et all are now permissable in the UK.
The ninja stars, possibly...but as far as I can tell, the UK censorship laws were laxed a few years ago.
81 minutes minus credits is just too short. I wouldnt be willing to pay the price of a cinema ticket for a movie that short. The plot sounds like something from the cartoon too, and a story full of gobbledegook is going to turn the casual punters off I think.
I don't know, I'm still very much in two minds about this movie.

It does indeed seem too short, but in no way can that be a judge of quality.
I've seen some great movies that were only 1 hour 30 min, and some awful ones that were 2 hours 30 min, and I know which ones I'd rather shell out 10 Euro's on.

Well, Thomas just says the movie takes off and goes. And on the bright side, with 81 minutes, parts wont drag on and on, they wont have time.
And that 81 minutes may change, who knows. Hopefully thay can get it up to 90.

Honestly 80 minutes is so short if there is bonus footage it would just be included in the film as it is. There is no need for any further editing.
