TMNT owes alot to Hong Kong...

didn't realize this until i was reading thru the facts...

back in the 80s, a Hong Kong toy company Playmates approached Mirage Studios and turned into a marketing phenomenon. just read wikipedia. Playmates was established in Hong Kong. then, when the live action films were being made, New Line Cinema called up a Hong Kong film studio Golden Harvest Films to join the production and thus, they did for all 3 live action TMNT movies. even for the new CGI film, Hong Kong is involved somehow. The CGI were all done by a Hong Kong CG studio called IMAGI. and coincidentally, Golden Scene has confirmed to be distributing the TMNT movie in Hong Kong. Golden Scene, as i've read somewhere is a subsidiary company to Golden Harvest who has directly stopped producing movies since 2002 with "My Lucky Star" starring Tony Leung Chiu-Wai (Infernal Affairs).

Golden Harvest is also known for producing some of Jackie Chan's best films ever including Drunken Master 2, Police Story, Project A and etc...

yeah...never realized how the TMNT has never once lost their Hong Kong connection over the years. seemed like Golden Harvest has always been backing the turtles on the big screen. yes, even for the new one.

and just to fill in more facts, the cantonese dub of the old TMNT movies featured the voices of Beyond, a rock band (from Hong Kong). the voice of Raph died from a freak stage accident while touring in Japan.
