tvshowsondvd.com put up this article today about three special features that will be on the season 4 disc set coming out march 13th. there's 3 of them and they sound like special featurettes or something. i believe this is the first time any kind of special feature has been on a the original toon's dvd releases other than some trailers for other crappy cartoons like inspector gadget or something.

full article is here:

one of those special features will have something to do with slash. which is great, cause he was always one of my favorite villians. to bad they didn't do more episodes with him. i can only remember two with him in it.

and i'm glad that they are releasing this as a whole season instead of splitting it up like they've been doing. I hope they plan on keeping the original series going with more dvd release dates.

For sure. I hope the entire season 5 comes out in July or August. That would be awesome. It'll be easier to put out entire seasons since the 4th is really the only super long one left. Heck, they should be lumping the shorter ones together and the entire series *should* be out by 2008. We can only hope.

PS: Slash was in 3. His first appearance, the time he came back super intelligent and in Night of the Rogues.

I wonder what the featurette things will be like?

EDIT: I was also thinking about how some places list 40 episodes and others list 39 and there's only 38 remaining from Season 4 that haven't been put on DVD, well, what if they're including the first two from Season 5 (Turtles and the Hare and Once Upon a Time Machine) since those take place when the Technodrome is still on the asteroid?
Is there a definative list up yet anyway?

oh, i didn't know he was in three. i remember, slash the evil turtle from dimension x, and donatello trashes slash. but it's been so long since i've seen those episodes. but i'm looking forward to seeing them again.

I originally heard 40 episodes so I figured they would end it at My Brother, The Bad Guy since it made sense to end due to the technodrome getting stuck in a new location. Still, who else is going to laugh their asses off if in the DVD it says "there is no episode 76 due to renumbering" or something similiar? I really don't understand why the person who compiled the episode list did that. It was just plain stupid, they should've just moved every episode number up by 1.

I don't want to sound the part of the party pooper, but I wouldn't get my hopes up that these special features will be anything too special. I'm expecting something like text-based bio pages on Slash and Shredder, and maybe something similar with a pizza recipe on it. That said, I hope I'm wrong and if so, will be very happy.

But the main thing is that it's great to see Season 4 in one package.

Maybe they will explain why the Slash in the cartoon sucked and the Archie Slash was awesome.

I highly doubt the dynamics of personal opinions can properly be discussed ;)

Anywho, yeah, I was hoping from day 1 that every season would be released in its own full set. So far season 3 is the only that hasn't done so, but due to economic reasons I stopped buying the sets after season 2. Thankfully the earlier sets have come down in price (less than 10 bucks before tax/shipping on Amazon), so I guess it's not too bad a deal.

Oh, and I heard the latest DVD volume ends with the season 4 premiere. Is this true?

Why? They get away with it on VH1 all the time. :P However, I'm in agreement with whoever suggested these will just be menu-based features listing stats. I just can't see 'em expending very much time or effort in creating new content for this.

Volume Six indeed ends with "PLAN SIX FROM OUTER SPACE". While that wasn't the first season four ep aired, it's the first syndicated ep of the season, and listed on Molly Bode's guide at NinjaTurtles.com before all of the CBS eps.

Exactly when did the CBS episodes start?

CBS started their run September 1st, 1990 with "The DIMENSION X STORY". The syndicated run didn't start again that season until closer to Christmas. But, "PLAN SIX FROM OUTER SPACE" was the first of the syndicated run that season.

That must have been so weird to watch them like it. It'd be like you're missing so much from the storyline.

Oh Sorry. gobo. I was responding to your post above mine in reference to when the first airdate of season 4 episodes were.

I'll try to quote more when I'm responding to someone more often.

I was also wondering. There's going to be 5 discs for 39 episodes so that would either equal about 8 per disc or 10 per disc with the remaining one being for the special features. Maybe?
