View Full Version : The Fight in the Middle of the Night

So Last night I was all warm and cozy sleeping in my bed when a huge cammotion breaks out in my parking lot reminding me that while I did move to a better apartment complex, I'm still in the same neighborhood. It was about 3:30 this morning and two brothers were having it out. One hot headed and passionate, one shaking his head in disbelief.

since there was no sleeping through it, I lay there and listened and darn if it didn't sound like two of our favorite brothers to me. so I began paying close attention to what was said. I wrote it out...and here...with the exact words and actions of the two brothers in the fight used...I present the fight in the middle of the night. Profanity left out of course, and names changed to our fave brothers ;)

=========================

"Stop saying that!!!" Raphael growled. "You don't know!"

Leonardo was leaned against a light pole with pursed lips and crossed arms. He was obviously disappointed with his brothers most recent actions and had not had any trouble telling him so. Raphael had spent the night venting his frustrations on several random ne'er do wells he had come across....again.

"You have no idea what you've done...do you?" Leonardo finally growled with cold as steel eyes cutting through the red masked turtle. Raphael clenched his teeth. "You always pull stunts like this and you always make things worse."

Raphael twinged a bit and started at his brother. Leonardo stood his ground cooly. Raphael growled in pent up emotion. The red masked turtle turned to a nearby parked car and punched the window in frustration. He shook his now sore hand out.

"Come on, Leo!! HIT ME!!!" Raphael growled starting at Leonardo again. "You wanna do this? HIT ME!!!!! COWARD!!! HIT ME!!" The red masked turtle smashed his fist against the car again. "COME ON!!"

"Stop being an idiot" Leonardo said cooly turning away from him.

"HIT ME!!!!" Raphael cried, starting at his brother again. Leonardo didn't even flinch. The red masked turtle paced away a few steps, stopped abruptly and turned back to his brother. "I did this to HELP US! I did it to keep us all SAFE!!"

"you don't know anything" Leonardo hissed. "I'm TIRED of having to get you out of TROUBLE."

"At least I do something instead of lording over the family all HIGH and MIGHTY. Hit me. Come on!! HIT ME!!!!!!!!" Raphael growled flinging himself at his brother.

"We're better off without your help." Leonardo frowned walking towards home. Raphael was filled with hurt and rage. "Don't come back til you figure things out."

Raphael watched him go then pounded his fists down onto the car hood in shere rage. He wiped his eyes hastily, stumbled a few steps. then disappeared into the dark.

I dunno what the real fight was about....nor do I think I wanna know....but it made for a quick story for me and maybe loosened up my writer's block?

Hope you liked :D

Awesome... awesome... Interesting. Evil, but interesting. You should do this more often. It's fun. And it's an exercise in writing dialogue, too. Of course.

I actually "spy" on people regularly and type up their conversations... they think I'm writing a paper... and I am. They just don't know it's about them.:evilgrin:

hehe thanks!

I just kept imagining what must have happened between those two. Overactive imagination. I really gotta get that thing fixed :D

Hah! That's cool, especially with the dialogue being plucked straight from life.

And I forbid you to fix that imagination. :trazz:

Don't fix that imagination! It would be such a shame... I had several ideas popping into my mind reading this (all TMNT related). I think it was really sweet, but it's funny to think, that this conversation has been going on for real.

they were at it again last night...only this time the cops came. This time I was scared the passionate hot headed brother was going to do something more than taunt the other one. I'd give a million dollars to know the story behind "I did it to help us...I did it to keep us all safe" That's the line that made me think 'Raph'

next time I see my neighbor lady I might have to ask her :ohwell:

Glad you all liked it :D

I definitely enjoyed this. I hope you continue the story. I know you'd love to know what sparked the argument, but I say consider it your prompt---see what you come up with from there.

Oh and by the way, your active imagination is under this thread's protective custody. "Fix" it in any way, and we'll have "fix" you, capiche? :P :lol:

heh,

I'm just going to keep paying attention to what's going on outside my door and use the Turtles to move the story along. Here's another true life thing that happened last night (as I stepped out to walk my dog one more time) that I will add into this developing story.

===================================

Raphael shuffled along in andout of the shadows, not really paying attention to what was going on around him, and not really caring. The fight with Leonardo was still hot in his mind.

Before he knew it he had made his way into a not so friendly neighborhood. He looked up slightly as a car with a pizza delivery sign passed by, and again when a another block down the bright red brake lights announced that the pizza guy had found his stop.

"hey, didja order this pizza?" Raphael heard the delivery guy say. "You...yeah, did you order a pie?"

"get away from the car man."

Raphael looked up again and decided to duck into a nearby alley. Something was going on there...

"What the...oh ****..." the delivery guy dropped his pizza. "easy...calm down, ese..."

"Get the **** away from the car! NOW BITCH..." The man in the stoop of the building advanced towards he still running vehicle. "get over there! Get away from it!!"

The delivery guy did as he was told. Soon the man on the stoop was in the car and speeding down the street. Raphael slipped out of the alley and accross the street. Maybe he could figure out where this guy was headed and vent some of his frustrations.

"...yeah, my car was just stolen..." the delivery guy said into his cell phone. "I don't know, it was dark and he had a gun..."

===========================

True life is better than what I can come up with in my head, it seems :ohwell:

and, just in case you were wondering, I jumped back in my apartment and called 911 while the real thing was going on....I'm not waiting around to get shot again by my loony neighbors.

..and Stryker...yeah, I guess my night last night wasn't to boring after all, huh :|

That is the GOOD neighborhood :o ? Wow.... Glad I'm not living there.

But you're writing is superb, as always. And I can't wait for you to continue "The greatest game". I've missed that fanfic so much!

====================================

Raphael kept his fevered chase of the carjacker, the driver left blocks behind. Just faintly now the sounds of the sirens grew closer then faded as The turtle moved away.

Somehow this was exhilerating and troubling at the same time. Raphael couldn't explain the giddy feeling he got doing this stuff. The instant gratification of knowing he made a wrong right...how he did it never mattered.

Over the next roof top, the red masked turtle caught site of a ragged looking old guy pressing his face up against the window of an apartment. with an impish grin the turtle purposefully took his next leap from the fire escape right above the guy's head sending him scrambling backwards into the railing and stumbling down the stairs at the realization he had been seen. Raphael laughed and looked up just in time to see the car turn a corner.

Keeping up with things, the red masked turtle passed by a group of prostitutes on a corner. One was leaned down into a car that had stopped. With a brief glimpse in better light the turtle wondered why any guy in his right mind would hook up with one of those women. He had seen better looking piles of trash.

The next turn found the car stopped in a fenced off old building. It looked like it was condemed. The turtle caught his breath and crouched silently beside a gargoyle on the adjacent building. Below him a drugh deal was going down and around in the alley two guys were sitting on some steps smoking their newly purchased crack.

"this place is full of garbage tonight." Raphael said under his breath. "Hey...it is my night to take out the trash..."

No one understands Raphael like the lonely, tormented gargoyle... :P

Very nice character moment Katie. You have a knack for the sort of details that contribute to an overall mood. And I read your TMNT fanfic "The Bounty (http://forums.thetechnodrome.com/showthread.php?t=12751)" -- I must say what a relief it was to finally read a decent fanfic after so long. No turtles on menopause! JK... the plot was suspenseful and everyone was in character. I really enjoyed it. :D
