What does everyone think of the new series

So I would love to know what everyone think of the new series. For me i really like it, I didnt have any of the other 3 series :x I got into turtles from the cartoon series.

So how does this part compair with the other 3?

Well it continues the story from the first 2, the Image run was part of diffrent TMNT-universe. I have read only the first issue because Im still reading the old ones. Based on that I would say it is ok, But not in the same level as the earlier volumes(except Image of course).

its ok. i like the drawing on the turtles, altho most people dont like lawson too much. his humans really suck in this new series tho. its a stylized drawing, and i just dont like the style. i prefer more realistic looking humans, like he used to do.

as for the storyline, right now its a lot of buildup. im kinda dissapointed, really. the series starts off with a short battle, but the turtles run away, and never get out their weapons, which is pretty lame. there havent been any other real battles yet i dont guess, but its definately building towards something. i hope we see some weapons and blood some time soon, or im going to fall asleep.

if it wasnt for the occasional "damn" and "hell", this honestly feels alot lke the cartoon, but with less action. seriously. i mean mike says something like 'cowabundalo' or something? what the hell? there is no seriousness to the new comic like we saw back in the other of lawson's work. actually, in the original series, i thought of lawson as the "savoir" of the tmnt. he did the return to new york series - before that, they were getting kinda haphazard, and he came along with a gritty dark comic. same again with city at war. the tales of the tmnt were great.

then in volume 2, he slowed it down a bit, but we still had serious turtles, with more dramatic stories, unfortunately to slow for most people.

now its just slow, with no seriousness at all.

sorry for the ramble, but yeah, im disappointed in both laird and lawson so far.

Well there are phares like "GOONGALA GOONGALA" in the older Mirage too... But if it really lacks action, I hope it gets better.

So far I have a positive view of the series. It has a ton of returning characters and a very interesting, and growing, storyline. It is also clearly, but slowly, is building up to something major.

Although I agree with XZaoX that there has been almost no action. The TMNT haven't yet broken out there weapons and there's been no blood. I'm assuming that with all the story building going on that ultimately some crazy action will result. I'm also a little upset at the lack of a villian in the series.

The plot development so far is quite astounding, methinks. I think sometimes the characters are a little too 2d, and the art could probably use a little improvement.... but all in all, i think it is a great series.

Good to know... It takes time before im reading those, I still have 20 issues of the volume 1 left, and then volume 2 + specials from that time, it is going to take awhile...

Well, I have to be honest and say that the main thing keeping me reading this series are the cliffhangers. Being on the receiving end of them is so not fair. (But it sure is fun writing them. :P to all my readers.)

While I think the art could do with a little improvement, it's not the worst I've seen in a professional comic. And the storyline's slow, but it's obvious that it's leading to something big. And it definitely has it's moments. The down side to learning to draw comics is that now it's hard for me to read these books without thinking of small ways to improve the scenes. The surprise at the end of the last book is starting to get overshadowed by my opinion that the page might have had more impact if they'd done a series of close ups on the reactions instead of one big group shot where you saw few of the faces.

I don't know how to compare this to the other series, it's kinda got it's own style.

I like the new series....it is as well-written as the original series. I got into the turtles from the cartoon. That stayed with me for quite some time. Just recently (about a year ago), I discovered the mirage comic series. I have some comics from each of the series.

I think the problem is that Laird is approaching this arc as a movie rather than a comic story arc, you see, sometimes in a movie they buildup and buildup and then in the ending everything comes together and is all exiting and stuff, now what Laird has forgotten is that this is a comic and you have to give fans a bit more action because it's like watching ten minutes of a movie, progressively every two months.

I liked issue #8 though, and I wan't to see the Turtles fight that weird creature from the Amazon,that was introduced early in the series.

If youre expecting a modern TMNT comic, wait for the Dreamwave Pat Lee comic later this year. If you want near embarassing archaic art that makes the Archie TMNT series look like H R Giger relish in the newer Mirage series.

It seems that only you dislike the art completely. Don't say the art sucks generally.

I think the new series is good, the art doesn't bother me and the story, in my opinion, is better than vol. 2, but like everyone is saying it does need some more action, but the cover of #8 has me hopeful (just wish it was out in the UK yet, looks like it'll be end of this week now).

The two month waits can be annoying but hopefully we'll soon have a new series of Tales to fill the gap (can't wait to see what happened in the last 15 years!).

Yes it is pretty sure now that the new Tales series will be made. Im looking forward to it!

Karpo when you get there will you read the new Tales before Vol. 4 as they are set in the 15 year gap?

Probably not, Il probably read them in the order they are released.
