The action was so ****ing crazy I didn't even noticed the song. April legitimatley kicked ass, Casey too. And the camera was just excellent. It knew when to pull in and pull out at the exact right moments.

I didn't cause it was "2 Minutes for High-Sticking" considering theres no blood in this movie, it cant be "4 Minutes for High-Sticking" lmao. Plus, it was a high stick, the blade whacked the Foot in the head.

I loved how chaotic it looked. How each characters would fight then the camera would suddenly switch focus onto another characters and so on and so on. I loved that shot where Casey and April turn around as they run for the door and we see Raph, Mike, Don, and Splinter beating the holy crap out of foot soldiers trying to keep them back, especially the point where Raph picks one up tosses him into the crowd and throws a smoke bomb to help cover their exit. Not to mention Mikey's casual trash talking and enthusiasm. God I can't wait for this flick

I thought the clip looked pretty cool, but since it was a bad quality clip, I wasn't certain. What level do you guys think the animation will be at? Finding Nemo/The Incredibles level?

I doubt at that level considering the film is a low budget considered to most CGI film. Still for something that probably cost half as much as the Incredibles it looks really good

About that April vs Karai part, I really liked that Karai did'nt go flying in another direction like the foot soldiers April was fighting. It looked like April kicked, caught Karai off gaurd and April moved on trying to get to the entrance. She did'nt kick her ass or anything. She got a solid hit. And what I liked was that Karai took the hit to the face yet did'nt go down. If you notice she reacts to the hit, but she's still standing

The animation's nice, and the fights look cool, but I HATE the music. I also find April being that skilled a bit unsettling. I don't want April to be a damsel in distress, but the footage makes it look like she's as good as a turtles. None of the stories ever mention April having as much training as the turtles did.

She started training, and she gained some competence, but not as much as the Turtles. Though I think she pwned Casey once when he was joking around and underestimating her. :D

I don't mind April taking lessons from Splinter, but she hasn't been training for nearly as long as the Turtles and shouldn't be better under any circumstance. More like, if she gets attacked by enemies she can hold them off until the Turtles show up to help. And if it's like a normal mugging with one or two punks with no martial arts skill, she can probably take them.

As for the movie April, I plan to see for myself what her skill level is and what kind of explanation they give for her skills before I judge. *shrug*

actually, i didnt get a sense of how good the animation was from the clip..or the sound for that matter. i dont know about the quality you guys saw, but the one i saw was recorded by pointin a camera at the television. It was fuzzy, and the sound kinda airy. it did seem like that P.O.D song (Lights Out) did not fit at all, but since it was taped by a camcorder..

After listening to the P.O.D song from the soundtrack thread, I can see now how it can fit a little bit better than the poor quality video representation that has been doing the rounds. On the low quality vids it sounds almost like a slow steady rap but in reality, once you can hear all the beats. It's actually more rock.

Glad to see Razorlight on the soundtrack too, Rip It Up is a great song (and its from their 1st album, which is great, rather than their 2nd, which is bland and mediocre, with a couple of exceptions...)

Okay. April having some self-defense skills is cool. But she's not a warrior. In that clip she practically seemed to be the best fighter there. I'm sure she will be a cool character in her own right, but I know I will be thinking, "This isn't April." I hate sexism as much as the next person, but it isn't sexist to have a female character who can't kick as much ass as her male counterparts, especially if her character wasn't designed to do so. Like, I hate to say it, but guys are physically stronger than girls. And as for other fighting skills, April isn't into fighting in any other medium except the new toon. Maybe this movie is just too influenced by the new toon.

This just seems to be overly politicall correct, and that annoys me.

But her character will probably still be awesome.

It's unique in the movie world for me. And in terms of the TMNT, it's awesome. The whole choreagraphy of that scene is reminescent of one playing a video game, where the camera follows the key character around. It's cool in a way, because it makes you feel like you're right there in the midst of the action instead of simply just an observer. And just imagine what that scene will be like on the big screen if it's already impressive on the little one.

True dat. I thought it looked really cool, but my lack of knowledge on computer animation rendered me uncertain.

It was really impressive. My biggest hope is for people to come out of this movie looking at other CGI movies like Shrek and Meet the Robinsons and say "the animation sucks, why can't it be like TMNT" :evilgrin:

I say that because also in that scene you can see a whole army of footsoldiers following them. Man, i'm smiling just because that was only a taste of the brawl they are in the middle of. it is a freaking great time to be a turtles fan. I so cannot wait for this film.

I love this. I agree, the "two minutes for high-sticking" line was placed a little awkwardly, but it was in there and I liked it. Raph was also kicking BUTT... great moves! I also liked when one of the Turtles (Mike?) kicked a Foot ninja in the face when they were all running over them.

I suppose my only complaint is Splinter looks a little too stiff to be believably running that fast... but other than that I'm even more stoked.

Doesn't look like it. Previously, I had thought that Don swung Raph by his hands to throw him. But, the obvious question is where does his gobo-- er, 'bo go' then. So, I've come to the conclusion that Don did swing Raph with his bo in spite that their hands come very close to touching. But actually, I hate to say it, it doesn't look too spectacular. I mean, April's apparently made of wood and the animation, the angles they've chosen and the speed are all kind of bland. You know, you could include some kickass shots in this one. And if they need advice on how to cut fightscenes, they should ask the people behind Afro Samurai and Samurai Champloo.

... Actually, they could do it, we saw some kickass fast moving in the first trailer.

I'm not saying we should have fights like in Afro Samurai, but this is just very lame compared to the trailer we got to see where they're running through the city.

So, yeah. Bad-anus clip here. I loved the fact that there was a sincere feel of being engaged in the action. Until I saw this version of the clip, I had no reason to question the Karai vs. April part. But, that was rather corny. Karai should be able to make short work of April, but it really seemed like she wasn't trying. Someone else said the song makes it seem more like a school-yard brawl instead of an epic battle which I fully agree with. And, there was the Casey Jones line, "Two minutes for high-sticking!". While it made me smile, it will likely start to annoy me in the not too distant future. The context and manner in which it was said made it seem like he didn't have any reason to say it other than to be nostalgically cool. Overall, this was a fun and enjoyable clip. Hopefully, the Leo vs. Nightwatcher fight will be 10 or more times as satisfying. Can't wait! ^_^

Too many far shots? Or you joking, are you seriously joking. I counted one birds eye view shot, and that was at the begining to get the scope of the action. After that, it was a perfect blend of pans and close ups. They knew what they were doing.

As for the pace, thats obvious. Of course they slowed it down. In the first trailer, it was the Turtles running across rooftops, so it had to be quick. But this time the purposely slowed it down so you can get a clear perspective of all the action going on. Moving to fast you would miss alot.


And as for the music, so they used pseudo-rap. What matters is it fit the scene. The music should fit the scene. If this were an epic battle between the Turtles and the Gerenrals, or the Leo/Raph fight, I could understand. But this is one of those inbetween fights. So it makes sense they would go for something along that line. The movements fit the rythem perfectly.

Earlier is right. Ive just been looking at some cinema websites, and the appollo website that they are gona start showing it on the 23rd March not the 30th and i just whatched the preview on TV and it said the 23rd also. Thats great for us in the UK.

Yeah 300 was awesome! My younger brother came out of it stoked, says it's right up there with the Lord of the Rings. Everyone who expected it to be close to the true historical telling though will probably ruin it's chances of being like that. I mean for one, it's based off Frank Miller's damn good graphic novel for crying out loud and second, historical truth's why you go to school not for the movies (except documentaries).

Back to the clip though, I don't understand how you could hate that music so much. It was great! Don't let an absense of epic music such as the intro. from Batman: Mask of the Phantasm wear you down (although I would like to hear music like that in the movie myself). The music in the clip has a good beat and is being very underappreciated here.

Do they not realise that they're making Karai less threatening by having April do that to her.
It makes sense that April would pick up a few moves or ask for training, but her ability should only be good enough to fend off a few muggers.
I don't think Splinter should be involved in this fight either, if it is ment to be set after the first two movies well he should be barely able to walk never mind run, Splinter should be their wise old master that they have to protect because he's just too old.

About Splinter being too old to run like that. Naa. We saw limited motion from him in the live action movies because he was a puppet.

But in the novel based on the first movie, when the Turtles came back home to the lair to find Splinter kidnapped, they noted that there was an obvious struggle.

Also, he didn't seem too old when he did save his sons from Shredder on the roof top. He was just tired and exhausted because of him being held captive on shackles and chains, and more than likely, they never fed him or gave him water, which made him even more weaker. Despite all that, he still had the strength and speed to take on Shredder and to deflect a throwing dagger at his face. Not too shabby if I do say so myself.

agreed. I mean Karai did'nt even fall. Now if she was like the foot soldiers April was fighting and went flying when April hit her then I would agree that that seemed off but April blocking a few sword hits and kicking Karai does not mean that she is a better fighter.

Maybe they did, but that doesn't change the fact that an orchestrated soundtrack would be better. Lyrics seriously distract from dialog. Lyrics should only be in scenes with no talking, like a montage.
