with the way that season 5 was, all that had happened and and the way it ended...is it possible for the turtles to go back to the way it used to be and fight karai and bishop and the purple dragons? it seems like they are capable of so much more even without their mystic powers. i wish they came up with a more creative way to portray the turtles in season six instead of some futuristic type deal. if they were going to give them a new look i atleast think it should have some depth and meaning. i feel like Fast forward is taking a page out of what the power rangers show does by changing powers or what the show is called each season..its pathetic. all in all if the season ended after 5 i would be completely happy with the way the turtles were portrayed and how the whole series played out. what do you guys think?

They don't have their medallions anymore. At the end of the episode you see the Turtles without them. The medallions served their purpose, so any future seasons will not have them. I assume...

With the knowledge that Bishop became a good guy and president of the United Federation of Planets, I don't think they'd fight him again.

As for the Medalions. After Master Yoshi saved the day the medalions were destroyed.

i understand that the medallions are gone and so are the mystic powers..i was stating that since they have been through all the tasks is season 5, that all the other enemies seem as though they wouldnt be much of a challenge. sorry if i didnt clarify

Well just as I thought the Shredder was too much for them, someone comes and kicks their asses harder then he does. That being Bishop. If the show continues (which I hope to god it does,) and they go home, I'm sure Bishop will still be up to some tricks. Someone else could also come into play that's even worse then Shredder and Bishop. In anycase I think that they still have a lot to learn.

Nano is now with the Justice Force.

Baxter continues to live as a robotic skeleton.

Karai is expecting the tengu Shredder, and thinks she can beat him.

Chaplin's put on some weight.

Hun's voice isn't pitched up again (like in the >> ep, "The Journal").

The human acolytes show up to help (they aren't sure how either).

The Tribunal shows up to rub it in (that they're reckless, uncaring bastards).

The Ancient One now fills the fifth seat at the Lap of the Gods.

Ok, I've gotta ask: Does anyone else feel that the reason that the Lost Season was lost and >> was offered in it's place is because the LS is the perfect capstone for the series and anything else would feel anti-climatic, much like >> does even with the LS, "lost". Just my thought. I think that the LS was scrapped if only because those behind TMNT weren't sure how they could go on with quality that could rival or even surpass the LS.

So, what do you think? Opinions.

EDIT: Gee....I guess I could have just said "I agree with invictus1002." But I guess I also expound upon his point too...so...yeah

It's hard to determine when we've seen finality before. "Exodus" also brought closure to the Turtle's war with the longest running Shredder, and this simply ended The Shredder's dynasty of hatred once and for all with the defeat of the original, with Karai finding someone in her life and moving on. The comics have proven that the TMNT's lives as characters are very organic, like all superheroes, they move on, and encourage the viewer and reader to follow them, long after their enemies are defeated

This is television though, and the closest we got to "organic realism" was the fourth season, until Karai donned the mantle of The Shredder, then we learned of the real one, and that gave the writers the excuse to include him all over again so they could have another season with the show's top drawing villain. FF also gives them an excuse to work around not using him, but what if they have to go back when they resume the present day series?

That is the challenge, but since they minmised the role in the fourth season, and there's a little thing called "alternate realities" out there, it's not that hard, but for now, and with 4Kids heavy censoring, FF was probably the best option and definition of a "rest" as far as thinking ahead for what to do next goes

Maybe >> is an attempt to see how the TMNT, in an animated form can survive sans Shred-head as the prime baddy.

ZariusTwo

Well that's really the point, they were doing fine in the present day without using him before "Scion of the Shredder" reintroduced the character

True, but has the TMNT gone a whole season with no Shredder? (heck he's shown up, be it minimally in >>)

Actually, I've been thinking about that. Can they have a season without Shredder at all. And they can, they just need to push Bishop into focus.

I think at this point, people have seen enough of Shredder. And with the Tengu Shredder angle and Karai going straight at the end, there really isn't anything else they can do with Shredder.

I think they should go for one more season. Make it entirley Shredder-less. Not even an honorable mention except at the very end. Just to prove they can be good without him.

Wow, just wow. I got a bit scared with all the energy battling crap they did and the Ghost Busters references but all in all it was pretty bad ass.

Zombies! Just wow, if this makes it on TV I'll be surprised. Hun's voice pissed me off to no end and the Nano episode was un-needed but I'm glad they made his character less annoying.

The backgrounds in some scenes you could tell they took some budget cuts but the animation as a whole was great. I liked it a lot. They ended it, I don't see where else it could possibly go from there. If that wasn't an ending I don't know what is.

If they some how continue it *I'm assuming FF is what happened after this season that was made pretty clear* then I guess the TMNT lost their powers when their amulets were broken.

All in all I'm impressed, I thought it was going to be too animey but it kept it close enough to core content, and **** was it dark. I don't see them airing this on TV...

If the series goes on one story arc I could see them doing is Shredder's evil Tengu power Karai channeled coming back through her and causing problems. And unless they did that right I don't see it being to interesting so let's hope they avoid that path.

Just some very random thoughts (I watched the entire season instead of sleeping last night, so my head's still all over the place):

SPOILERS, if you're dumb enough to be reading this thread and not expecting any!

- I would have expected more of a reaction from the turtles regarding the fact that they were able to TURN INTO FRICKIN' DRAGONS! All we got was the standard, "Wow, that was awesome" kind of thing, nothing to suggest that they were particularly impressed. Just a nit-pick.

- In fact, with this kind of storyline I would have expected at least a little more emotion and/or angst from the main characters, but they all just seemed to take everything in their stride; the ups and down of their journey weren't really ups and downs at all. Except for Splinter, I suppose. But then again, there hasn't been much of this sort of development in the show before either, so I'm not really sure why I thought there would be. I guess that's what fanfics are for.

- Where did Hot!Chaplin come from?? Wasn't he a goofy-looking nerd before? (I'm too lazy to check the older episodes). Well, I guess they had to sex him up a bit to make it believeable that Karai would walk off into the sunset with him...

- I was ROFL at Mikey's comment when Splinter told the boys about his nightmares, and Mike said something along the lines of, "Ooh, is it the one where your taking a really hard Math test, and then you realise you're not wearing your shell?". Hehe. Mike's humour doesn't usually make me laugh but sometimes he comes out with some pearlers.

- I found the ending of the last ep to be rather anticlimactic. Did anyone else feel this way or am I just being picky?

- Maybe I'm way too Harry Potter obsessed, but all I could think of whenever Shredder was shown without his helmet was: Voldemort. The white face, the glowing red eyes, the slightly snake-y fangs... the only thing is though that Voldemort actually has some sort of motivation for being evil whereas the Shredder's just a demon who wants to make the world one great big hell-hole. But why?? That was exactly what I said out loud when he announced his plans to do as such. What purpose does it serve? Meh, that's a rhetorical question, I know I'm reading into it way too much!

The above sounds like I didn't enjoy it. I promise I did, but it's just so much more fun to gripe instead of saying, "Oh this was cool; oh that was cool". lol.

They wouldn't really have any evidence against him to keep him in prison. Unless they just did it because the Utroms said he was bad.

Saw the Lost Season. I didn't think it was all that great. Well-executed, technically, but soulless. Totally devoid of character development. It felt like a sparkly, multi-colored acid trip... The turtles called out their attacks like power rangers, weren't reflecting at all on what was happening. I found myself unable to care when characters were "killed" off... Everyone seemed so out of character. Like everything was smushed together -- OOOOoookay! We have to write a big finale arc that "ties" together all the loose ends, but not really. Happy ending for Karai. All is well. Anyways. I still prefer the magical dragon "it's morphin time!" turtles to >> any day.

Though, if TMNT 2k3 ever comes back, I really want to see more Bishop-oriented story arcs. We have hardly seen enough of this guy -- or his 'spawn' such as Rat King. Bishop is one of the most badass, complex villains in the new show. He's like one of three characters that is truly intimidating.

I didn't like the laser swords, that they turn into dragons for some reason never explained. The Animals they summon. The uselessness of the tribunal, I mean none of this was nessary if they just did their jobs instead of training the turtles. And the demon Shredder is way to powerful, the turtles have no way to even fight him at all, the only way he gets beat is by yoshi magicly appearing for no reason. And what makes yoshi so great anyways he was taken down by utrom shredder, leo could easly kill him by now. I just really have a problem with the laser swords, it's very out of place. Still this is a thousand times better then fast forward.

I don't know how anyone could not have liked this. Given, it did take the turtles into a whole new direction, but it was a great direction. I'm pumped to see Membership Drive this weekend. However, even though Fast Forward is far worse than the 2k3 series, I'm compelled to watch it again. I do enjoy it slightly.

I have seen all the episodes up until "Fathers and Sons", and I say that the Ninja Tribunal season owns the Fast Forward season in every single way. The only beef I had with the Ninja Tribunal season was how everyone had to die all in one episode. It would have been better if everyone down in the cavern died and everyone else survived until the next episode. Heck, I think 3 of the 4 human Acolyte deaths were pretty pointless to be thrown in when the first guy died.

Still, it didn't make me stop enjoying The Lost Season so far. I'm going to be watching "Past present" tonight (hopefully!) and possibly "Enter the Dragons" parts 1 and 2 tomorrow. I can't wait to see the ending! :D

Agreed with Fledermaus, the only gripes I had with the Lost Season was the lack of soul. I mean at least Mikey showed some emotion when Tora died. I guess Leo's reaction to Feraji's death was normal, I guess. But I dunno, I'd expect him to have a little more emotion. Raph's reaction to Joy's death was lame; he was basically hitting on her and wanting to get in her pants the whole time. He witnessed her getting eaten, and all he can say is "I'll never forget you" and continues fighting on. Don's reaction to Adam seemed like nothing. I dunno, I saw these Turtles train with these guys, share tales with these guys, share spars with these guys... they were practically roomies. They've been on quests together searching for the artifacts. You should expect some sort of emotional ties. But I saw almost nothing.

I liked the background story from the flashback episode. That was pretty cool. I also liked the action in this arc, and the battles. Tengu Shredder's story made sense to me, I liked it. I also liked how he wasn't completely invincible in this new world. Technology of today should be able to slow him down a bit. Tengu Shredder was definitely bad ass.

To be honest, after dealing with Fast Forward, this arc was a breath of fresh air. Even though I had a few gripes with it, I still overall enjoyed it.

Ah yes, here comes the bandwagon of "it was'nt that great, or that bad". Think for ten minutes. When the other warriors were initially dying, it was in the middle of a ferocious battle where mostly everything was going to heck. The Turtles did'nt exactly have time to mourn when they were constantly on the move. That's REALISM. And in a show that balance out realism as much as it can, Raph's reaction was fairly accurate. Exhausted emotionally and mentally from this ordeal so far, he obviously could'nt process the concept of death that much.

Saw it the other day. Overall I thought it was good, but I didn't like the 'real' Shredder. After most people had finally gotten over Shredder being an Utrom, I thought it was cheap to dismiss him as an 'imposter'. I thought the zombie Shredder was kind of lame and didn't have the emotional connection to the Turtles the Utrom Shredder did.

The final battle was cool, though I never liked the Justice Force and felt they had no business being there. I would rather have seen Leatherhead, Fugitoid and the Utroms, and was actually a bit surprised and dissappointed that they didn't make an appearance. I liked the return of Chaplin, and his infatuation with Karai was a nice development. Maybe the Leo/Karai stuff can be put to rest now as well.

The Acolytes were cool. I thought their 'deaths' were handled well, and actually was dissappointed by their return as it cheapened it. Give Leo his sword back, jerk. The whole dragon transformation was overdone, but I really liked how it was Yoshi that saved the day.

Ok, that was my rant. All bitching aside I enjoyed it and thought it was a fitting end to the series (Which I fully expect it is).

Yeah, my post is obviously a bandwagoner's approach. It can't possibly be my own individual opinion, because let's face it... if your opinion doesn't agree with Zarius', then your opinion obviously doesn't hold weight.

Seriously kid, how about "thinking for ten minutes" and accepting just maybe others CAN find flaws in a show that your close-minded perception won't allow you to see. If we want to talk about realism... what were the odds of every single casualty being any character EXCEPT a Ninja Turtle? I guess in some realistic chance of luck, out of the 8 characters that were taken out (including the Ninja Tribunal), not a single one of them was Turtle.

Or maybe perhaps we can talk about how the warriors weren't even mourned AFTER the battle was done. Only moment that seemed to have a bit of remembrance was Don building the Turtle Taxi and incorporating some of the ideas Adam had. That was it.

As I said before, I'm not saying it was a bad series. I think it was great, especially seeing as we were fed Fast Forward for who knows how long. But just because this series was great, doesn't mean it was perfect. There's bound to be some flaws you have to point out.

*nods* Exactly. They have also been trained for this kind of stuff, I would imagine. They didn't have time to grieve during battle. If they did, the turtles would have met a similar fate. I'm sure they had a night's worth of mourning after they got back into the sewers. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if they made shrines in honor of the sacrifices that the Tribunal and other Acolytes made.

Just wanted to say I totally agree with all of this. I've never been a fan of the Justice Force concept either, and it's kind of mystifying as to why Leatherhead wouldn't have been there.

It's all well and good to speculate about what they may have felt and/or done, but what we're getting at is it would add to the drama and heighten the audience's emotional response and attachment to the characters if we actually got to see even just the slightest bit of recognition in regards to our turtles' inner turmoil.

Just hope that some good fanfics come out of TLS... ;)

I loved the lost season.

I also found it very poetic that it was master Yoshi who slayed the Shredder. It was master Splinter's and the turtles' connection to Yoshi that brought him afore... even though the turtles did not know him, their 15+ years of training was in essence based upon the principles of master Yoshi and the entire purpose with the training was initially to avenge his death. They were all spiritually connected.

It was master Yoshi's fate to die so the turtles could become what they became so they in return could make Yoshi fullfill his destiny as the one to save the world.

If the last episode was not a good ending to the series, I don't know what is.

I don't believe we'll be seeing them again in the 2003-series format. Ever. When Splinter was in tears, so was I. Yoshi came as the manifestation of the courage and purity of the heart of the turtles which they in turn inherited from him, and to the very end, they were heroes. We should remember that and thank them for sharing their tales with us.

So long Michaelangelo, Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, master Splinter, Casey and April.

Possibly. She only fought with the turtles since the world was at a threat. She just wants to avenge her "father", and I think she is still keen on that. All I'm saying is "don't be surprised if she suddenly turns up and starts attacking the turtles again". ;)

Will Karai persue her vengence with the boys when/if they return from 2105?

No, she will not. She's at peace now, moving on from the hatred, her walking into the sun with Chaplin was meant to clarify that. "The Journal"'s documentation of Karai wanting to redeem herself may have been false, but the inspiration for it had to come from somewhere. I would'nt be surprised if Karai had approached Leonardo wanting to change, and he brushed her off. It's HIM who learns to forgive and forget in "The Journal", NOT Karai, and now we know why, she learned it in the Lost Season.

And if you look closely, in one other episode, Karai almost started crying when April reminded her who bailed her out, the Turtles, the weight of carrying her vendetta blinded her to whom she once saw the Turtles as, honourable warriors, and once her allies. It was a very small, subtle, but excellent, scene.

Finally finished my TMNT 2K3 run through with TLS over the last 2 days!

I really really liked it! It was a good finale to the 2k3 series and it allows them to move in a new direction when the TMNT return from FF (if they continue the show from there).

I know a few people have expressed disappointment at the lack of mourning shown after Beginning of the End. Like others have said this was probably because they were in battle, but also remember any post battle aftermath and mourning would most likely have been shown in "Nightmares Recycled" as that was to be the first episode after they return to NY.

In all honesty my biggest complaint is that I wanted more April and Casey in the season (I don't think they even appeared in the final episode), and again I think Nightmares being cut added to this as they were to feature in that episode. I also really really wanted their last scene to be a proposal!

The dragons were cool and very well done, being honest I'd have rather a straight Ninja fight between the TMNT and Shredder, but it worked and the ending with Yoshi was very fitting and tied everything together.

I liked the Tengu Shredder and wish they had more time to develop him, a lot of time in this season I really felt it could have benefitted from a full 26 episodes with more to flesh out the characters and their motivations, Enter the Dragons brought everyone together well enough, but it would have been nice to see more of these characters and a greater build up to the alliance and maybe extend the final battle over an extra episode.

Looks like the guys got to keep their weapons but not the medallions. From what was said I don't think they've lost their mystic powers completely but without the medallions to channel them they won't be able to use them properly (if at all). If they had completed their training with the Tribunal then they would probably have the powers even without the medallions (The Journal makes me wonder if Leo will eventually train with the Tribunal and finish his training). The weapons won't be useless, but without the medallions to channel their power the TMNT are probably more effective with their own weapons (hence the return to them as seen in FF).

Overall it wasn't without flaws, but it was an incredible season (possibley even the best season) and a nice way to end the series. The only question now is where do they go from here (assuming we get more after adventures FF)?

If you mean that first scene of "Past and Present" after the title, I didn't notice it that way. But I agree, and the last sentence April spoke made that speech, IMO, her best and gutsiest line in the series yet. (I wanted to sig it, but it wouldn't let me do both that and the Splinter quote.)

Sorry I see it this way, but it seemed like Karai was about to contest that line verbally, and wanted to disprove it physically right then and there; if she'd been in any condition to do so...

I thought it was neat that it was actually the ancient one who gave the Turtles their masks. That really helped make him stand out as part of the turtle's origin.

No, I really don't think the writers are that desperate they have other characters they can use as antagonists in the Turtles lives.

actully that was orignally cleared up way back in 1994 in the archie series Issue #58 "How the Pre-TMNTs Got Their Colors"
Check it out HERE (http://www.ninjaturtles.com/comics/archie/58/58.htm)
Btw the episode you guys are talking about is annoying as all hell the Children Mutant Turtles in the 80's toon weren't even this demented and annoying. They look like Short Green Bugs Bunnies with those buck teeth.
It's by far the worst episode of the Lost season and it was really hard for me to watch it's about as annoying as this past weeks Jammerhead episode of FF. The only thing that remotely saved that episode was the Skeleton Demon.

The buck teethed thing annoyed me as well. I personally lik the TMNT Adventures version better. Made a lot more sense than the Ancient One just saying, "ohhh look what I've got."

i agree he should stay dead, but that doent mean the writers wont bring him or karai back as a villian. I mean look how many times stocman came back.

Stockman always came back in the comics though, where as Shredder did not, and when he did in storylines, it was never as the same Shredder who fought the Turtles in the first issue, or "Return to New York"

Ch'rell is'nt coming back. Deal with it.

And then actully became a very sad thing at this point the guy just wants to die :(
I was shocked in the lost season that April didn't say anything to him when he opened his big mouth.

I feel sorry for Stockman. Wonder if he would appear in FF? No I don't think so, ah well.

And I liked the baby turtles, they were the cutest version so far. With their big eyes and teeth,

When all the acrolytes get their weapons from the 4 dragon fire forge Leo didn't get a weapon and was told that he commanded the 4 dragon fire. When they all fought using their new weapons everyone else was kicking major butt except Leo. He only joined up to their level when he took the dragon tooth sword away for the water tengu/was given the sword as the acrolyte (forgot his name) died. Even when the other acrolyte (kicking myself for not being able to remember his name) got his weapon back he seemed to use it pretty much the same way Leo did. Leo may have done a couple more things with the sword but he still needed that sword to do something. I suppose him being able to an dragon avatar is significant but eventually all his brothers had dragon avatars too...and weapons.

It seems like they played Leo up to be this great warrior but in the end he doesn't really do anything that exemplary and didn't get a weapon. I think think Leo got short changed! (As a hardcore Leo devotee...this is unacceptable!) :flaming:

I surprisingly liked the LS. Such an awesome change from FF (Blah!) As for this whole will Karai be bad again or not, I hope not! I am as sick of her as I was Ch'rell. Let him freeze on that little planet:P Even though I am a huge Shredder fan, there really isn't anything they can do with him now. If they bring him back, what can they do to him? They'd actually have to kill him, which is too violent for a cartoon. Leave Ch'rell where he is, let Karai be happy with Hottie Chaplin, and give Bishop some more action!!:D

Seriously, I love the new hottie Chaplin ;)

Now that you mention it, that was kinda crappy. Commanding fire is really lame if it doesn't make you stand out from the others. It did seem really strange to see his brothers kicking serious butt while Leo didn't seem to be doing anything really outstanding, since as you say the others enventually get dragon avatars as well, along with sweet weapons....Poor Leo:cry:

Well still, Leonardo got to use Feragi's (that's the acolyte's name TurtleTrails) dragon-tooth sword for the huge majority of the season, so truth to tell, he did get just as much a chance to shine and kick ass as his brothers did. And he wasn't meant to literally "stand out" among them; the dragon avatars were meant for them all from the very beginning->the turtles were meant to accomplish the same thing the Tribunal did so that they could finish the job they started.

Really?? Okay that makes sense then...I have missed a couple of the LS eps so I was kinda wondering what the dealio was with Leo.

Thanks for clearing that up triplexxx :)

I don't want to be an @$$ but I believe the avatars were the various animals, not dragons, that the boys control.
And it's acolytes not arcolytes.

What you guys think?
I'm not sure I completely understood the reasoning behind not giving Leo a mystic weapon but I am sure that whatever the reason was, I did not like it.

Each acolyte should have been given a specail weapon. It makes little sense to me that everyone gets to weild a new weapon but Leo.

Feragi! That’s right! Thanks Triplexxx! :)

You bring up a very good point. I think I was trying to say that Leo didn’t really get to do anything until he got the dragon-tooth sword. I’m thinking of two scenes, in particular, that kind of hints that they wanted to play up Leo. One is the scene where everyone gets their weapons and he doesn’t and they tell him that he will gain great power beyond his imagination. The other scene is with the Ancient One where he tells Leo that the Ninja tribunal expects great things from Leo and that’s why they are the hardest on Leo. Maybe I read too much into that but it seemed like Leo was suppose to do something more. I agree with the dragons. It’s kind of assumed they would be the four dragon avatars like the Ninja Tribunal when they fought the demon shredder the first time. I just don’t get why Leo didn’t get a weapon and do great things that the Ninja Tribunal expected of him. Or maybe the Ninja Tribunal was talking about all four turtles? I don’t know.

No offense taken Neutrino. :) Please correct me. I rather know it the right way. So if the dragons weren’t avatars what are they?

So if the dragons weren’t avatars what are they?

It depends on the specific acolytes. The human acolytes possesed real animal avatars.

Tora Yoshida's avatar was a wolf
Adam's was a bear
Joy's was a hawk
Faragi's was a lion

The turtles possesed the rarest of avatars, dragons.

Leo was the first to summon his dragon avatar. So you were right about the turtles having dragon avatars as well. What's important about Leo is his ability to summon his dragon before his brothers. Leo definately got screwed on the weapon though.
