ok I stand corrected all those times I said 2k3 toys where as bad as happymeal toys...I didn't think some things could get worse but they did..
good lord:o I'm adding my vote for these as the ugliest tmnt promotional toys ever!

I am unsure if those are available at any of the McDonald's near me...but I'm gonna make a full day of TMNT shopping on the 23rd so I'll be going to a couple McDonald's in the area. The one at the Tacoma Mall I get a discount on cuz Im a member of the mall's kid's club thing. I just show my kids club card and I get a hamburger happymeal for only 99 cents!

Hmmm...guess I'm the only one who likes them.......for a happy meal toy they sure do have a good likeness of there movie-counterparts....youd think they would be cheap badly colored pieces of plastic....but they look good, surprisingly.

I'll be sure to get them.....well the ones with posable arms.

Those "praying ones" (i know they aren't praying...but that's the closest word I have to describe that) look wierd...but the action ones don't look that bad :)

God...that means I have to choke down a McD's burger :dead: or my pooch will anyway :P

Or you can do the smart thing and buy the toy without having to buy a happy meal. They allow you to do that.

I wants them! Unfortunately, I never eat McDonalds, and now I literally can't, sooo...

Man, I wish I knew someone that worked there, like I used to.

hmmm...did not know that.

Well...my puppy likes going out in the car....and she loves getting a plain (just meat and bun) burger.....so I suppose I can buy a happy meal for my "kid"

you can always get the nuggets instead of the burger. they are the only good thing at mcdonalds anyway. in the begining when the movie was 1st announced i was praying that wendys would have the toys. Wendys is with out a doubt the best fast food.

Wendys???!!!..........why would they even get the toys in the first place.......we all know that McDonalds get the best and top of the line franchises for thier happy meals.......Burger King is second.

I wanna get the first 4. I don't get the point to having the other four (with launching...things.)
I like how they explained them as "-slimmer and more action packed" turtles.

I got the Leonardo (with sword) today at the movie premiere - it's VERY nice and worth a trip to McDonalds. The other ones (without weapons) look weird and apparently the shell opens up (as I observed from a distance).

I worked at Wendy's a few years ago. Their nuggets pwned all back then, and the Junior Bacon Cheeseburger = YUM.

However, McD's has definitely improved their nuggets; I daresay they give ol' Wendy a run for her money...

Haharr. I may have to find a Mickey D's.

Not bad for McDonald's toys... looks like they're even different colors of green! I'd be liable to get one, just 'cuz. I wonder how long this promotion will go...

And yeah, they started selling the toys by themselves during that Teenie Beanie craze, I think. You remember how insane that was? It was to stop people from buying 20 happy meals, taking the toys out, and pitching the food. Because lots of people were idiots. :tpizza:

Raph's Girl
03-17-2007, 10:21 PM
Well I think the reason Mcdonald's got the movie toys is cuz they were the ones who got the movie toys for the previous films. Heck I still have a Donatello pin I got in a Happy Meal from 1990! And yes Im wearing it on the 23rd... actually wore it today at work as my St. Patrick's Day green. :P

Actually, McDonald's has never had the TMNT toys in the past. Not in the US, at least. Within the last year there was a 2K3 promo in the UK.

Same here in Australia. We had some girl/boy happy meal with something like "My Little Pony" or these cool looking TMNT toys that flipped or something like that. It looked cool, but I'm kinda off McDonalds now ever since I found out that Hungry Jacks (ie Burger King) is much better in terms of burgers and products.

Burger King had TMNT toys back when the 2K3 series started........but they were nothing like these.....they were cheap mostly, there was a nice one of Raph on a motorcycle but it was painted very badly, the rest were just cheap plastic doo-dads and what-nots........needless to say I never got any of them.

It's a wind up type thing. You move it backwards and the back wheel cranks up, then you let it fly.... the back wheel also lights up.

They don't look great to me, but I won't really be able to tell until I've actually seen one, last I checked we still had those robo-things here near the east coast. I don't know what they are but they look a lot cooler in the commercials than what I've seen about the TMNT toys so far.

Seriously though, that katana of his isn't really thin. Heck, it looks more like a knight's sword than a ninja sword. Other than that, the colors look okay, though the green is a little to bright. The anatomy looks pretty spot on, too.

These toys are awesome. I remember dreaming back in the day that mcdonalds would do cool turtle toys, I dunno why, I guess I wanted turtles to go with my mcdonald's movie power rangers... and it's finally happened! (though the power rangers are long gone, heh)

So I think I'll just ask to buy all the toys individually and if I have to buy some food I'll toss it or give it to a family member. But I'm definitely going to get a shamrock shake and call it a mutagen shake, who's with me? :D

buying just the toys and not the meal is stupid as they sell them very expensive, for about 30 cents more you get a soda, fries and a hamburger. they aren't that bad.

Well at least they aren't stupid gimmicks, the thing when the toys have stupid gimmicks they are either hit or miss.

Ninjinister

I've not seen them advertise thus far. Perhaps they are awaiting the 23rd?

I've changed my eating style tremendously so I'd hardly call it stupid. Burger/Nuggets are a no because I'm vegetarian, I recently gave up soda because it's bad for your bones/teeth but before that I only drank diet because regular is just empty calories, and mcdonald's fries have never done anything for me, even when I was a kid. Mcdonalds food doesn't have a lot of options, it's either more meat or more fat. I'm also training to be a marathon runner so I think I'll pass... But if you lived by me you'd be eating free for a couple weeks ;)

McDonalds could have done better than this. Can you even move their arms and legs?

Kunoichi_Haruko
03-22-2007, 04:31 PM
The four that are in various poses can move their arms (kind of, you have to squeeze an arm or leg toget the toy to move). The ones with their arms crossed don't move their arms & legs, but their shell opens.

We've picked up the Mike and Leo "action" figures and the Raph w/ Nightwatcher inside this weekend. The ones with the shells that open are pretty lame, but I like the ones with the action features.

I found out about these as soon as my best friend and I got done seeing the new movie. Her mom was babysitting the her neighbor's kids and they had stopped by Mickey D's. The two girls got the Oz toys, but the boy got action Leo. I stopped by Mickey D's latter that night and and got action Mike in my happy meal. They're pretty decent for happy meal toys. Mike and Raph don't have their weapons though for some weird reason, but Leo and Don do. The "action feature" is that their arms move and waiste twists when you squeeze their legs together.

I snagged the Leo and Mike toys as well on Friday after seeing the film. They're pretty sweet. And there were totally a bunch of kids in the McDonald's pinching the toy's legs together and swinging Leo's sword/Mikey's fists at one another. It was awesome.

I'm thinking so. Between my friends and myself we've managed to see Leo and Mike from the actual figure ones, and Don from the back-opening ones.

One of my friends' brother works at McDs and said it's just a matter of how quick they run out of the toys from one box and open another.

just got all 8 of them today in the mail from ebay. all 8 for 17$ , thats with shipping ,thats cheaper than buying the meals and i dont have to subject me and my kid to that horrible cr*p they call food ( WENDYS RULES) and no hassle of having to go to a mcdonalds time after time going nuts trying to get them all. all hail the mighty franchise ( lots of bowing going on )

Went to McDonald's today for lunch and picked up Donnie (all that's left is action feature Raph, cause I don't care about the "praying" figures). When I drove up to the pickup window, the kid there noticed my old school TMNT shirt, and asked, "Big Turtle fan, eh?" I said, "Yeah, possibly even too much." we chuckled and he told me to have a good day...hope he ment it...:P

03-29-2007, 03:16 PM
I got Action Mikey and Action Leo. They are my first pices of TMNT movie merchandise... Mainly cuz I can't afford the action figures right now, they don't have the sepperate mini figurines yet, and I can't find that Damn Air Haed TMNT candy yet (which I was planning to buy as a movie snack).

Funny thing is, I almost didn't even know. I wasn't on this site for a while, and they didn't have the signs up. I even ordered a small nuggets (by far the best thing on the McD's menu) and all of the sudden, I turned my head and saw the TMNT bag and had to cancel my order as fast as I could. I was pretty much flabberghasted that McD's would have it. I would have thought BK, since they did all those TMNT promotions in the past. They have Spongebob. Wendy's wouldn't have it. They still Have Fairly Oddparents.

Now, I want to keep this as a discussion about the toys, and not the entire obvious thing about conspiracy theories about The Hamburgler building a rayguy that makes thin people morbidly obese, like all other Fast Food conversations usually stear towards. Plus, I would rather have an Outback Burger than one of those, but then again, they cost 8 bucks a pop, and don't come with miniaction figures.

I think they toys are pretty cool. If Wendy's released them, they would have 2 figural toys, one of those cheap pinball games and some paper product (board game, Puzzle etc.). I will say these are the best TMNT kid meal toys ever, since the BK ones were pretty off, besides Raph (but I got the whole series anyway).

So what is the deal with the opening shells? What's in them?

Jo Dawn
03-29-2007, 09:12 PM
Are they planning on tearing through all 8 in just four weeks, or no?

Yeah... Though our McD's said three.

My mom bought me the two figs they had today, Leo and Mike. She got me all excited, because she slipped up and said 'They had Leonardo.. and Dona-no wait! Michaelangelo.' I got all excited, I thought I'd be getting my two favorites, heh.

Oh well... Guess I have to wait until next week.

Actually, I want to say that this is not American Idol's first fast food tie-in, although I don't recall if it was with McDonald's before or not. I think the toys were cheap plastic microphones and crap like that.

However, if the toy WAS Randy, Paula, and Simon "action" figures, I might have to go to McD's for a few more weeks. :P

I just need two more of the TMNT toys.. the last two Mike and Leo figures with the opening shells.

At least you got a TMNT toy. Apparently the McD's near my house is behind in the toy department. My stepdad was going on a McDonald's run, so I asked him to bring me a Mighty Kids Meal, with the "boy" toy (assuming, of course, I'd get a turtle). Instead, this is what came out of my bag:

The TMNT Happy Meal toys still haven't been released out here in Belgium...
We still have the Bionicle/Hello Kitty toys.
I fear they'll be skipped out here all together.

I just sent a mail to McDonald's Belgium for some info...
To my knowledge, it's the first time that Happy Meal toys based on an animated feature film aren't released in Belgium.

As if the movie isn't badly promoted enough already...:(

My friend said she is just gonna get me them, 'cause she works in McDs.

I just have Leo so far, with awsome NINJA WORKOUT ACTION! Tighten up those glutes!

It stands on top of the PS2 with everyother McD toy, and my Stewie Griffin.

Yeah, you don't gotta eat McD's to get the toys, lol. We've been there alot, since my mom's getting the Wizard of Oz toys and I'm getting the TMNT stuff.

I got all 8 in the mail yesterday. I just bought them on Ebay for $15 shipped to avoid the hassle. I'm actually pretty impressed for Happy Meal toys (action figure Mike needed some 'chucks though):tthumbsd:

So what is the deal with the opening shells? What's in them?

I think that people are just hating on the "praying" figures. I kinda like them. Raph has a Nightwatcher that rolls out of him, Leo has a hang gliding Leo, Mike has a skating Mike, and Don got shafted and has the monkey monster on a garbage truck. Don is the coolest action figure though so it evens out.

I was finally able to go to McDonald's today. I hardly ever go to a fast food chain but meh...when there's stuff I want I just go for it. Knowing full well that the figs would be around till April 19th I wasn't too much in a hurry to head on over. And boy are the folks there fraking anal. You have to SPECIFY what kind of happy meal you want since they're also giving out these stupid looking Wizard of Oz things.

Thankfully there was a family ahead of me so I quickly learned to order "a happy meal for boy".

Ended up with the Storage shell Michelangelo thingy that has another Michelangelo inside the shell. Weird....

Well I stopped by McDonald's on my way home tonight to grab a happy meal...I tell them I want the boy's meal and I get a Yoshi toy from the nintendo series. I was too far down the road to turn around but I would have tried to exchange it for a TMNT toy. :(

I got a Raph figure and the weird Michelangelo that has a Michelangelo inside him for some weird hidden purpose that I guess only he knows about.

The bag sucked though, its only two sides TMNT, two sides The Wizard of Oz. However, I can still confirm at left a 51% increase in my happiness.
