Are the Turtles 20 years old by the end of 'Enter the Dragons Part II'?

despite the fact that the turtles have physiques that make them look like they are well into their twenties, the turtles are still in their mid teens. In fact I think only a year has passed in the 2k3 time line. So they are are by any accounting probably only 16 years old at the end of the lost season.

**sigh** in the comics universe the turtles are no longer teenagers but in their late thirties. But in the new toon universe they are definately teenagers. Although whether or not they are all still 15 uears old is another matter.

They are definately not 15 years old. I'd say in the middle of their 16 years of living. Remember, a few months had passed when they were stuck in the past with Rennet, and that's aging that can not be undone. I think they celebrated their 16th birthday then, and are on their way to turning 17 after the Ninja Tribunal arch. Who knows? There will probably be a birthday episode at some point :D

In Modern Love Raph comments that the events of Nano occured the previous year (which matches with Monster Hunter/RTNY being winter/end of year 1).

The Christmas Aliens clearly takes place at the end of a year (year 2) and All Hallows Theives coupled with the 2 months of Leo training reference brings us to the end of another year (year 3).

That puts everything after that in the next year (year 4).

Basically I see it like this;

Year 1 - 2003
TMNT are 15/16
Things Change - Return to New York Part 3

Year 2 - 2004
TMNT are 16/17
Lone Raph and Cub - The Christmas Aliens (with The Golden Puck taking place earlier that winter)

Year 3 - 2005
TMNT are 17/18
Space Invaders Part 1 - The Ancient One

Year 4 - 2006
TMNT are 18/19
Scion of Shredder - Enter the Dragons Part 2

I forget if Fast Forward is meant to be exactly 100 years in the future or if it can be 99 years. If it has to be exactly 100 then the years listed above all need to move back one so the series is 2002-2005 rather than 2003-2006 (that's if you want to count FF).

I'm sure they didn't get started into training until they were at least 3. So they have to be at least 18.

Well the TMNT were at least 1 when they reached their current size and probably nearer 2 when they started training in the comics, so it's no stretch to say that they didn't start training until they were 3 in the new animated series (especially as we know they were toddler turtles and did not reach their full size within a year like in the comics).

If you trust the Playmates bios then the TMNT were 15 when the first figures were released (ie at the start of the series, I could swear this was mentioned in Season 1 at some point but I can't recall where!). The bios say Casey was 24. The biggest issue really is the age of Casey and the TMNT in The Lesson, but I think that can be worked around. Assuming the TMNT were about 5 or 6 in the The Lesson (2-3 years intense training combined with the recklessness of youth it's justifiable to say they'd be of that skill level and attempt to train him). That would put Casey at 14-15, which is possible (I think he looks a year or so younger than that but that would make the TMNT way too young).

Of course the Playmates bio puts the Toddler Turtles as 8 years old, which would make Casey 17 and that's way too old for The Lesson. Of course 8 also goes against the "toddler" name so it's probably safe to assume that it isn't accurate (or you could say the figures where based on Tales of Leo and they were 8 in those flashbacks and the events in The Lesson happened before that).

I'd even venture so far as to say scrap calling his info a "theory" and call it a well researched fact, the TMNT are about 18, which means we have one more season/year of TMNT as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the 2009-10 season would have to be TMNT for Twenty-something Mutant Ninja Turtles.

So they are sorta hurtless in one way or another, why don't we admit they are immortal? BTW, I also believe that they are asexual creatures.

On the other hand, does anyone know what their species are? Maybe we could roughly estimate their age range or something... by supposing their birthday is when the first comic was issued. -_- As for their mutation age and all the complicated calculations it involed, let Donnie figure it out somehow.

Tales of the TMNT DOnnie stated the ywere Red Ears. I didnt say they would only live 30 years, i was just stating the ave. life span of the species. mutation would affect their life span, definantely. How? i dont know.

Neutrino brought up an interesting point. How long did the mutagen extend Splinter's life? The only problem with figuring this out is that we don't know how old Splinter is when he gets hit with the mutagen.

For the sake of argument, let's say Splinter was equivalent to a 20-year-old human when he got mutated. So what? 1 year old out of an average of 3 for rats? And how long did he live in the comics once he mutated? Around 33-34 years? So 33 / 3 = 11. Now let's suppose the turtles were about 2 years old out of a 30-year-old average lifespan when they mutated. Assuming the mutagen affects rats and turtles in the same way, the turtles could live to be: 28 * 11 = 308. Now this is based on a lot of assumptions and very few facts, but you get the idea of how long the turtles could live. That said, my gut tells me they live to be around 120-150 because it just sounds right.

EDIT: And just to give you an idea of how much my approximation can vary... Let's suppose Splinter was actually 2 out of a 3-year-old average lifespan. So his mutation stretched his last year across about 33 years. 28 * 33 = 924. Those are some long-lived turtles!

based on the turtles skittishness when anything even remotely sexual or intimate is brought up I would say no. In fact I wonder if the boys understand the innuendo that is so prominent in television and movies or if the refrences just fly over their heads. Because normally in order to understand stuff like that you ushally have to have a point of refrence to refere to. I don't see how they would have that since they have been isolated all their lives.

I always assumed we are just supposed to consider them in the teenage bracket when it comes to the animated 15-19 somewhere. I think that's why they don't over due it on holiday related episodes and we never see a birthday for any character (in 2K3)

You are probably right that living in the city the turtles probably are more exposed to the "under belly" of the cities life and know more than they most likely should. I wonder the 2k3--or any turtles medium would be willing to illistrate a situation where the turtles "hear something" or stumble upon an adult situation and have them react to it (or pointedly ignore it). Like lets say they look into a window and freak and catch a couple making out or something, or disrupt a romantic evening by crashing through the ceiling just when it was about to get physical. I think it would be pretty funny to see something like that. But...sadly in the mediaI don't think they would ever go there with the turtles. LOL

I dunno Jersey just has a lot of running jokes placed on it about pollution, bad driving and general oddities. I think Jersey can be pretty darn nice and you can't beat the fact gas is always a little cheaper there then in PA. It's true in many places about the driving being a pain, but luckily they have a good train system.
