Hey,

I was looking at different Australian cinema websites to see if I could find the real release date as I keep seeing mixed reports.

Hoyts has it down for the 22nd March, as does Reading Cinemas. But just as I was getting excited, I read the Greater Union site which says 22nd March in Victoria, and 5th April all other states!!! WTF??

If this is true, why the shell does Vic get it TWO WEEKS before the rest of the country?? And why wouldn't any other site specify this?

The reason I'm so ticked off is because I'm going to be working remote for the next year or so, two weeks on and one week off. And my very first day is, you guessed it, 5th April. Which means I won't get to see the movie until two weeks after it's release if the above is true. Which is devestating for someone as unhealthily obsessed as me!

Can someone who's more in the know than me please confirm?

I'm already :x enough over the fact that I won't be able to read the last Harry Potter book until two weeks after release. Not this too. :(

That's just the advanced screening. As far as I am aware the only 2 countries to officially get the movie on the 22nd is Russia and Isreal.

Okay, that makes sense... but it still doesn't really make sense why one state would get advanced screenings and not the others. Oh well, I'm going to the movies today to see Hot Fuzz, maybe I can ask someone what's going on while I'm there.

Well here in the U.S not every state got the advanced screening for TMNT... All Washington got was advanced screenings for friking Last Mimzy...and I STILL don't know what the movie is about. :ohwell:

:( INTERNET HUG!!!!

My advice is: don't read the forums too much; you'll just go crazy.

Thanks for the support. :)

Just looked a bit more thoroughly on the Hoyts website, and sure enough, Victorians are able to book tickets for 22nd March onwards. Which means it's not just an advanced screening, that's when it's actually released there.

I'm genuinely curious as to why this is, so if any Australians (or non even) could shed some light on this matter I'd really appreciate it. I know it's not exactly life and death, but it just doesn't make any sense... :ohwell:

I'm pretty sure it's to do with the school holiday periods in each state. The terms and school years and all that...

That's so obvious I didn't even think of it. Thanks so much. :)
