honestly, probably between 10-15 million.
While I could be wrong, an dI would love to see like 20-25 or more , there are wayyyy too many films opening up this weekend , which will have a drain effect on any profit tmnt may make.
Shooter is the biggest contender to get 1st, wahlberg off his oscar nom and it has explosions and stuff. 300 is still going strong and could upset it, I see one of these getting like 18-20 mil.
Hill have eyes 2 may get like 12 or so. maybe close or under tmnt. Mimzy and pride maybe in the under 10 million openings.
Then mmet the robinsons and blades of glory the week after =serious drain on turtles
Sometimes I wonder if they could have released it in Feb or maybe waited for
a low rush time like sept/oct. I guess theyt wanted to avoid the summer rush and honor the past live action 1-3 release being in march..

While it may be a big action flick, you also have to take in acount that its rated R, and thats going to have an impact on its numbers.
Im betting somewhere around 45 mil mark.

Sorry to gripe but you're not exactly looking at profit. Just box office figures. :D

After 300's break-away success, im kinda skeptical on R-raqted films being shut out of doing well.
Im betting somewhere around 45 mil mark.
45 total or just opening weekend.
I think tmnt will get 10-15(max like 17) this weekend then keep doing decent for awhile, making about 60-70 million domestic total.

Its still doesnt matter that much, the R rating on it is going to have its affect on Shooter's numbers. So 300 did great, but 300 is also a graphic novel based movie, whereas, Shooter isnt(far as i know). So ofcourse 300 had great numbers because it brought in all the graphic novel and comic fans.

I can't make it on opening night, but I'll be there Sat.
I did notice there were a lot of other movies coming out, and that stupid last mimzy might do better. My gf's little brother is going to see TMNT, but he wants to see the last mimzy too, apparantley more than tmnt

a bit OT: but i have only seen 2 TMNT commercials in the US channels.
for th emovies this week Number of ads I've seen from most ot least:
Reign over me
Shooter
Hills have eyes 2
Mimzy
TMNT
IS WB just coasting on the past popularity or turtles or is the ad budget just miniscule?
sigh...

I've seen tons of TMNT ads in the last week or so. Like every fifteen minutes or so on CN, there's an ad.
My guess? I believe 35-45 million opening weekend. :tgrin:

Well, I got my ticket in advance (6 more for my buddies) for friday. Then I'll be going again on saturday with at least 7 of my cousins. Then I'll be going again once it makes its way to the $2.50 theater... I'd say I did my part.

What happens if you dont like the movie? (Since your a fan of the turtles I think thats a fat chance)

Oh man, I did think of that...
But I'll still go saturday, since I wont be paying for myself. And its only 2.50 at the other one, so I'm sure watching the movie will be better than doing anything thing else worth 2 dollars while I'm in winchester.

honostly, i think it wont be break-away awsome number wise, but itll hold its own
you have to keep in mind dispite better movies being out, theres 2 crowds gaurenteed to watch it
1. the old generation of TMNT crazed 20 year old children, like myself, and most of us.
2. the children of the 2003 series. they love children cartoons, and if im not mistaken theres not many that came out today. Cartoons > movies to children,a nd CGI is the new cartoon style, so they have that going for them as well
honostly, i think itll do pretty good, considering its going to be pulling in 2 different crowds

The showing I went to didn't have many people in it, but that was at 11 AM on a Friday.
Also Shooter was in both of the main theaters, TMNT in the 2nd biggest. But with all the high schoolers who think being "Retro" is cool I see this movie making good money. Plus most movies that get 60% or lower on Rotten Tomatoes always make bank. As where any movie that's better then that makes nothing.
