Just picked up Odyssey by Jack McDevitt. It's fan-freakin-tastic. I hadn't read him but on the dustjacket, Harlan Ellison asks:
"'Why read Jack McDevitt?' The question should be: 'Who among us is such a slow pony that s/he isn't reading McDevitt?'"
I figured that was a pretty good endorsement. I'm 3/4 done now and this slow pony thinks it's the best new s/f he's read in a long time, and apparently McDevitt's got other books, Chindi and Omega, in the same universe.
Have any other S/F fans read this or any of the others? Apparently he's won several Nebula awards but I'd remained unaware.
