So me and my mom go to take the car in (cuz right after i get my braces off) and we're waiting for them to fix up the door and change the oil, and my mom is look'n at one of those stupid parent magazines and she left it on the counter and started talking to this mechanic and the page she had open was one about tv cartoon violence. And guess what it tmnt was in it. It started out with sesame street, then smurfs and transformers (which they said was inherently violent  ) and then i come across tmnt, it said something like mutant turtles named after reinassance artists can't be that bad can it, and the person was being sarcastic. I just want to punch those people in the face. I mean damn turn on comedy central and you'll see some pretty bad stuff, in no means is tmnt *too violent* jeez.. i'm sick of people like that *sigh* :|

Because the new show isn't airing yet, that has to mean the old show. And That, if something, Is not violent. Atleast most of it isn't.

Man, how old are you ?!?

TMNT is too violent? Maybe the people that wrote that article should watch Cartoon Network and see the ultra violent anime junk that takes up 99.9% of the broadcast schedule.

ok, i watch alot of cartoon network, and 99% is so far exagerrated lol.

they have the toonami, which isnt ultra-violent by far, and i think its 2-3 hours a day. the rest of the time, its a lot of good stuff like acme hour and tom and jerry (during the day), and in the evening its the cartoon cartoons, like courage and dexter's lab.

after 10 they do the adult swim, but except for cowboy bebop none of those are action cartoons either.

man, i love tom and jerry. f'in mouse.

Actually adult Swim is half action and half comedy

I hardly ever watch Cartoon Network. Hell, I didn't think they showed any Looney Tunes anymore, all I ever see is Yugio and crap like that.

Alright PWDESAI, this topic is making me want to post the essay I wrote last semester on how people overexaggerate media violence.

I'll be completely blunt here, while trying not to use any profanity. We live in an age where the general adult populace consists of soft, whimpy baby-boomers that either grew up in the 1960s or were born in that time period (my dad was born during the beginning years of the baby-boomer age, though he doesn't fall into the category I'm talking about). You know what I mean, the hippies who wanted "peace and love" via sex, drugs, and rock'n'roll. It's those kind of people that my peers at school emulate who think anything else outside the harmony of peace and the 60s counter-culture is "not groovy". Yeah, the kind of people I've been complaining about forever, the ones at my school that laugh at me for liking the "stupid 80s". As one guy put it, "THE 80s SUCKED!"

Oh yeah, back to what I was wanting to say. Ok, so these baby-boomers grew up during the Vietnam War era. Afterwards they still held to their ideals even 30 years later. ANY form of violence, even necessary violence (yes there is such a thing IMO), they thought was totally evil, hence the restrictions on the media that grew in the 1990s. If it involved guns, weapons, injuries, and villians, it all of sudden was deemed unsafe for children. They wanted to "sheild them from harmful content". If you ask me, I think they were doing more of a hinderance than a help to their children. My parents, one a Vietnam veteran himself and the other an enlightened Pagan/Wiccan, shared at least one view: to hide children from complete fiction even with parental guidance would cause the child to not gain that distinction between reality and fantasy.

Why don't I support my claim by sharing with you my personal experience? By the time I reached the age of five, my parents allowed me with no problems to watch a rated "R" movie as long as they were there with me when I watched it. I should say they had no problems with having me watch it with THEM. By that I don't mean they took me to see a rated R movie, but whenever they watched one in the living room by themselves while my sister and I were in bed, and I happened to wake up to get a glass of water or something, they didn't care if I was curious as to what they were watching. They even let me sit down for a minute or two before going back to bed. At scary parts or vulgar words they would cover any part of my body, they would just tell me that either it wasn't real or tell me not to talk that way around the house. Thanks to that kind of parenting growing up, I ended up being a more stable and less rebellious youth during my childhood years....

Sesame Street and Smurfs violent? Giant LOL!!

I'm the bad, mixed up boy I am today because I watched those shows growing up! I'm even worse off because I watched Turtles!

HA HAAAA!!! I'm sooo evil....

I ask what's wrong with violent content in cartoons? So long as its not blood and gore, I'm fine with it. Violence is necessary to give proper action and tension in a show....why do people fail to see this? You don't have to answer that because Reznorite summed it up pretty well....
