They gave it a 3.5 out of 5. Which, is a very good rating. Calling it the best TMNT movie yet is a big thing.

Now that is the kind of review I like to read!

That is are very nice review! NOT slobbering in it's praise, and not hatefully evil in it's criticism. That is a very nice review, and you can certainly tell that the critic actually saw the film!
NOT that I would ever suggest that others would review without actually WATCHING!

That was a pretty good review...Much better than some reviews ive seen IGN give. But i honestly think i love their review for the Season 4 dvd box set of the old toon better, just simply cause they point out everything thats wrong with it and tear it a new one:lol:
But anyway lol, yeah that's prolly the best review ive seen so far(which is only the 2nd, the other being SHH)

yea i didnt read the review but 3.5 out of 5 from ign is good they keep it pretty honest
Do you think the producers had to pay extra for this public peck on the butt-cheek? I'm sure it's an excellent movie, but to call it the best yet... That seems a bit much. If it comes close to besting the first movie in my opinion, I'll be shocked.

I know this movie will be nice, but the best? That spot belongs to the first one. I can't even imagine this movie being better than the first.

It didn't come close for me personally, which is probably why I was disappointed. They kept saying it was going to be just like it and there were very few similarities.
This review was ok, it's pretty much a 7/10 which is what I gave it, but I don't agree with it completely.
Still TMNT was better than movie 3 imo, so while that doesn't say a lot, it says enough

The hard thing about comparing the new movie to the first movie is that the majority of us saw the first movie when we were kids. Personally, I was 10. Movies make a bigger impression on you when you're around that age and it's not unusual for your favorite movie of all time to be a movie that you first saw at that point in your life.
Everyone here likely has a stronger connection to the characters than the IGN reviewer. The nostalgia factor is going to keep TMNT 1 at the top of your list forever. For someone looking at it from the outside, maybe the new movie is better. I personally find it hard to compare the two; I love them both.

I don't know about that (mainly 'cuz I haven't seen the new film yet) but I gotta put this on the imdb. Thanks.

i would say that this movie has more than enough potential to rival the first movie...but of course its hard to out do the first, because it was "the first". if it comes close to being as good as the first movie than this movie is far beyond a success in my eye.

How about you watch the movie first before deciding that?

He's right though. The first movie is the better movie. I think it will have a long way to go before it gets topped. Although the Raph Leo scene is enough to grant this a very close second.

You guys are serious? You're automatically claiming the first one to be better without actually watching the new one just because it came out first? .................that kind of logic just............completely and utterly confuses me. I don't even know how to properly respond to that.................
Whatever happened to "don't judge a book by its cover"?

they actually knew about the comics, which means it isn't an uneducated review. I like.

Whatever happened to "don't judge a book by its cover"?Well, hasn't jezza seen TMNT already? I seem to recall reading a "reaction to the movie" post from him/her...
All I'm hoping for is for this movie to get close to the first one. That film had a pretty good story (Mirage-based, yo) but suffered a lot from (I thought) unnecessary silliness to keep the kids awake/connecting it with the old 'toon. You know, the "righteous! awesome! tubular!" scenes... which were fun but went against the tone of the movie as a whole.
This film looks like it may have the opposite problem (though I haven't seen it yet and may have to eat my words later): a tone more accurate to the original, with the exception of Mikey... but with a pretty weak storyline.
I'm just hoping it's a fun watch, weak plot or not. If I come out of the theater smiling, then it's been successful enough in my book. Though I would REALLY like to see a PG13 sequel, however farfetched a hope that is.

pretty idiotic if you ask me. I don't expect it to be better than the first, but I full well acknowledge the fact that it's POSSIBLE!

If jezza has seen it, then I apologize to him/her. It just bothers me how people jump the gun without even seeing it yet. It could be the best movie ever, or the worst movie ever, but I have to WATCH IT FIRST to know.

Now these guys are awesome! I read that review and said to myself "whether he liked it or not he knows what he's talking about!" References to TMNT history, comics, cartoons, all that stuff!
Great review!

Yep I have seen it. I still stand by my opinion. The grittiness of the first movie hasn't quite been matched in TMNT. The original was also far more violent, with Casey knocking Raph into a trash can, April being knocked out by the Foot, Splinter being strung up and smacked about by The Shredder. Sure enough there was some childish behaviour in places for comedy relief but it wasn't that noticeable like it is in TMNT. So yeah, the original is still best.
For the record guys, Jezza is short for Jeremy :P

You forgot to mention the part in the first movie where Raph get's his tail kicked, quite brutally.
Well, I'll say, going by the clips that I have seen so far, each movie has it's pros and cons. Leo seems to be more in character in the new movie compared to the first, and after debating for a while, I really like Raph's new voice better as well.
Stuff that I liked in the first movie though, how it could give a rat's a$$ on the use of nunchucks, and stuck in the duel in it. The fierceness of Shredder will also be very hard to top, villain wise. Also, so far, I like the music in the older movie compared to the first one.
The rest, well, I'll find out tomorrow night!:D
PS: How many of you are going to wear a TMNT shirt?

I'm hoping this movie will be as good as, if not better than, the first film. I'm not expecting it to be as good as the comics, because we know it won't.
As long as I love it, I don't care.
PS: How many of you are going to wear a TMNT shirt?
 I don't have any!!!! The only one I did find at a reliable store was Old Toon styled (and that's NOT the sort of TMNT shirt I want to wear)...
Are there any shirts/hats for the original comics?

Not my intention. I meant that the new movie (which I've spoiled myself like crazy on, but haven't actually seen yet) will very doubtfully match the realism of the first New Line flick. Other than the Turtles and Splinter, there was nothing outlandish about it. Compare that to 13 mythological monsters, living statues, and other mysticism. It's just harder to appreciate the message when it's shrouded in magic.

That's all I got, is the old toon turtles shirt. But it's not bad, and it was the old toon that got me into the TMNT, so I have no shame.
But I have a friend that took the fabric of the new CGI designs that was selling at Walmart and made patched out of it onto a pair of jeans. It's really cute. She also made patches of their individual weapons and sewed them on as well.
The rest of us, unfortunately have to wait to April 2nd to get our hands on the new movie shirts. My friend works at Walmart, and they have the new shirts in stock, but for some reason, are not allowed to sell them till April 2nd. Maybe they will be selling them at the theaters or something.:ohwell:
