Could it be...Roger Ebert liked it! He really didn't care for the first 3. He says it's possibly a contender for the Oscar for Best Animated Feature...:D He also says this movie warrants a sequel. In the words of kids in the Batman: Beyond universe (whose last DVD had the old 3/30/07 trailer for TMNT) this review is very "shway!"

EDIT: It isn't Ebert...it's the staff reviewer from the CST, MISHA DAVENPORT.

I definitely could see TMNT getting nominated. Winning is another thing since Pixar has a movie coming out and I imagine Meet the Robinsons may get a nomination as well.

Where does it say Roger Ebert? It says by staff reporter MISHA DAVENPORT. Is it like some group thing were all the critics agree on the review?
Edit: My bad! It is Roger who reviewed it.

I don't see Ebert's name anywhere. This review was written by "Misha Davenport."

EDIT: Oh, I see. Ebert actually hasn't been able to write many reviews at all lately -- he just edits them. I guess that means he agrees with them.:-? At any rate, it's still a plus for TMNT to have a major newspaper's approval.

Doubtless, Rotten frikkin tomatoes will overlook this review.

that is a wonderful review!!!! It makes me even more impatient for tonight!!!
I love the last line...You couldn't ask for anything more other than perhaps a sequel :D Let's hope!

There are going to be some heavy contenders for Animation this year but just the vote of confidence is great

If you look under Ebert's page where it says reviews you see TMNT. This is very strange. Is Misha doing his reviews for him? :-?

See my edit. If you look at other major reviews, you'll see that Ebert didn't write any of those either. He's only editing them, probably because he's still recovering.

Maybe...since "Ebert and Roeper" has a rotating door of guest reviewers as well. For the record, I did get to this from the Ebert main page...so I didn't think to read the name of the actual reviewer...oops.

Heh... Loved it. It would be nice to see "Producer" Peter Laird at the Acadamy Awards recieving an oscar. If that happens, YOU KNOW there will be a sequel. However, then we could call it the "Oscar" winning franchise. Eesh. Don't think I like that too much. ;)

It seems as if this flick is getting mixed reviews.

I thought I heard somewhere that he hated it.

Who hated it, Ebert? *shrugs*

Its bound to have mixed reviews due to the franchizes many (somewhat isolated) incarnations. Many people will go expecting the cartoon, others will go expecting the comic, and others yet will go expecting "Ninja Turtles 4."

Actually Ebert hasnt been reviewing since early summer '06..he was int eh hospital for a while and as far I've heard, he's out of the hospital and recovering (cant remember what he had though) and supposedly doing much better. Even though he gave a mixed review for the first film and deadpanned the second and even though I disagree with him a lot, Ebert has always been my favorite critc. He has written some very entertaining reviews (my favorite is his review for Halloween H20 where hypothysised that Michael Myers worked as a mime on his off-time)

Well even if he didn't write it I hope he's reading it especialy...

should appease fans of the original comic book.

Yes, that's right a comic book! I could excuse him for thinking the TMNT started with a cartoon but I'm still pissed at him thinking TMNT started with a computer game.

It seems to me that the enjoyment factor is so much more (at least one star out of four's worth) if you're a turtle fan. Non-fans will come out of this wondering what the heck they just watched. And I understand that. That's where the Rottentomatoes meter is going to suffer most - critics who went to the movie because they had to, and didn't get the full experience that a fan would.

I wouldn't expect anything else from Ebert. I still laugh at his disbelief that he ever had to watch, let alone review, a movie called "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles." :)

If they reviewed it, they'll probably upload the review here (http://bventertainment.go.com/tv/buenavista/ebertandroeper/).

The original poster made a mistake. It was Misha Davenport who reviewed the movie. She just works for the Chicago-Sun Times.
