That theme song sounds kinda neat. Any translation of the lyrics into English anywhere? I think it's so cool Japan will finally be getting 2k3. I mean, they send us the best of their anime (and sometimes even their worst). It's only fair we send them the best of what America has to offer in animation. And TMNT is a show that is rooted in the Janpnese tradition of ninja & stuff. I'd be really eager to know what the Japanese fans think of the show when it airs. I've always been eager to know what they think of Western animation in general. Do they think it's stupid or not that the West seems to target their animation mostly to kids? Will they think
2k3 is impressive for a western show or inferior to their anime? Is there any way we can even find out if we don't speak Japanese?

I like the song. It is diffrent and completely in japanese fashion to have a generic song to play in the start of a animated show instead of a theme song that directly refrences the show.
Why did it take so long for Japan to get ahold of the new ninja turtles toon? Other countries already have dubs of it already. Frankly I am psyched! I can not wait to hear what the japanese voice actors will sound like playing the turtles. Sieyuu are so good at their work and they will totally keep the feel for the original work alive.
I can't wait to see clips of this.

This sure is interesting... I really want to see clips as well.
Man, I am sure digging this song. I want it on my iPod now!
I can really imagine the opening of the new TMNT cartoon playing to this. It fits rediculously well from my point of view. Very upbeat with a rocking background. I might be able to get the opening of the cartoon to play with this song if I can download both of them soon. I'll see what I can come up with when I get them ;)
~EDIT~
Damn, I'm trying to find a copy of the song and/or a translation of the lyrics, but I can't find anything. Really unusual for a song, even if it is in another country. I search for Japanese music all the time and I never had this problem before. Very strange... *frowns*

I like it - upbeat and cheerful, fine for the fast-paced intro. Pretty awesome - and fits the opening very well. Just tested it.

I made not understand the lyrics, but I sure like the music. It sounds waaaaaaay better than any of the TMNT 2k3 themes we've heard. So basically, they get our stuff, only better. Did congress pass a law saying all American cartoons must have crappy theme songs?

The difference is the Japanese look at anime as a way to market music. All the most popular bands over there do themes to there shows and they get released with as much fanfare as hot singles from regular music do over here.
OP and ED themes to cartoons are not viewed that way in the US. In fact half the time CN cuts them out to run more commercials instead.
I love the opening theme. If anyone finds it in full please tell us! When I heard that Japan was getting the 4Kids shows I was most excited to hear what they should do with the music.
It wasn't so much like that in the old days of anime, but much more so recently. Artists promote their music through anime openings. UVERworld and YUI with Bleach, OLIVIA and Anna Tsuchiya with NANA, even Koharu Kusumi of Morning Musume with....I forget the name of the show. If you look at it on a business perspective, it's a great way to promote your music, especially if you aren't very well-known, it's a wonderful tactic to get your name out there and have people listen to your older or newer works.
About the TMNT song, it's catchy. Good vocals, too. The lyrics fit well with the show.

I have a feeling that this song is yet to be released in May or something.
Hm, most likely, my dear sweet Bull. I just translated the site with the Google Translator and it said this -
Wind of single 'passion' 5/9 sale decisions! At TV Tokyo Channel 12, Ltd. system it is opening theme tune of “[miyutantotatoruzu]” of start of broadcast from 4/2! Super [do] class power song of guts full pening!
I must be either very bright or very insane to make some sense of that. If what I understand is right, a full version of the song will be released either on the 2nd of April or the 9th of May. I just hope that my Japanese isn't rusting away on me...

it says the theme song is confirmed to release on May 9th. while the japanese dub of TMNT2k3 series will premiere on april 2nd on TV-Tokyo, the very same station that airs Naruto and Bleach.

Can't wait to see what kind of intro they have with this song :D
Also, I have a lot of anime DVDs with dual audio, so the thought just ran through my head that 4Kids should add the Japanese audio to the upcoming DVD sets...it won't happen, but would be entertaining if they did:tlol:

Hm, looks like the guys singing this are pretty unknown. I have done 5 general Google searches on "The Inazuma Sentai", and nothing has come up other than their website. I'm going to try again a week or so after the song has offically been released. I have a feeling they will have a small cult following them by then...

Actually, looking at DIC animations older series like Inspector Gadget, Heathcliff, and especially Super Mario Super Show, they did attempt end themes (though in the case of Gadget and Heathcliff, they were the same as the opening, but the music was just a little different) at least with some sort of animation to keep it interresting. Now with the cutting off half the screen during the credits, there's no way they'd ever ressurrect that.
I mean, Animes have sound tracks. Here, we're lucky to find themes on a compilation disk. Animaniacs being an exception, having 3 albums. Spongebob has them too, but there isn't much call for cartoon character based sound track stateside.

Huh.
I normally don't like J-pop, but that wasn't bad.
Not being a fan of the 2k3 theme, I'll take just about anything over what we've currently got.

But it's not released until May, so you're going to have a difficult, if not impossible, time of finding it before then. At best someone might encode the TV version and upload it to YouTube.

No problem. Hopefully I can get the opening video uploaded after it airs, so stay tuned. Also, I'll try and post the Episode 1 preview of TMNT2003 that aired on TV-Tokyo as soon as I can.
Also, please do not request from me full episodes, as I believe it's against this forum's policy. I'll be able to take requests on character voices or scene, though I'm going to limit to maybe 1 or 2 scenes per episode, and they cannot be over a minute long. So becareful what you ask from me.
One Additional Edit: I added the japanese voice cast information in the first post.

They also used the Brilliant Green for the Powerpuff Girls opening over there. I believe Tommy heavenly had one of her songs used as an anime theme recently as well.
And Olivia's older stuff > The Nana stuff. Just needed to be said.

Raphael - Eiji Miyashita
Michelangelo - Anri Katsu
Donatello - Yuuji Ueda
Splinter - Shouto Kashii
This is stupid for me to ask, but these wouldn't be the same dub people from the first series or the voice actors from the OVA, would they? Be very odd if they made the new series to sound like the old one.
I also wonder, will they play a reverse 4kids and replace the original background music as well?

I found the first episode on Youtube. But since the rules are no linking to full episode, I ripped the section that had the intro and cut it out. The intro alone can now be found here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aGHmuRyOh7M). And here are some screencaps of stuff that's new (kind of):

P.S. While editing this video, I accidentally turned it widescreen (which I use for AMVs), so the captions have a 16:9 aspect ratio when it should be 4:3. Sorry about that.

Sweeet! Thanks for posting this!!
Also, if you find the complete episode you can see the ending theme in part three. If my computer would type in Japanese like it's supposed to, I'd try to find single information for the song.
Ok, had to go to a different computer to get it to work, but the Ending Theme is サマーフャイター (Samaa Fyaitaa - I'm not sure on the translation, but it seems to be "Something Fighter"). I couldn't find any CD/single information, though.

Wow, that was great. I watched the episode; pretty good voices, too. They sounded like close approximations of the English cast, for the most part. I mean, they're much closer than the Japanese dub of the old series, where Mikey had a terribly deep voice. I suppose my only gripeis Splinter. I dunno, he should at least sound a little rhaspy. Otherwise, good job.
I really love the opening sequence, though I felt they used episode footage a bit too much. I mean, there were lots of REALLY well-animated bits from the US opening they could've thrown in, like Casey Jones dropping out of the sky and swiping at the audience with his hockey stick.
Still, very fun. Thanks for showing it!
Blade Rider...you rock. Really, you do. I could just sqeeze the life out of you by hugging so much for this! *hugs you over and over again*
As for the full song...man, I can listen to this thing over and over and over and it STILL isn't getting old! I love it! :D Why can't we have something that cool over here? I would love to have this as a special feature in a DVD... *hopes some of the offical staff is reading this and smiles innocently*

Boy that was a bit strange to watch but also quite enjoyable. People think it's a new "anime" rather than a dub. Silly internet otaku... Well maybe that will lead to someone fansubbing it because it's easy to tell the dialogue isn't mostly the same because they had to match the lipflaps.
I like the opening and I don't mind the use of stock art though it is a bit strange to look at. What I don't like is some of the stock art is fugly. Raph and Mike's single images for instance don't blend well with the style of the show IMO.
They should have used more of the animated footage from the original opening though. Such as Shredder on the tower, Casey and April, etc.
The ending images are really dull and even hard to see and yes it's more stock images and a bit of season 1 footage. They picked some strange stuff to pull footage from. Notes from the Underground when the turtles are in tunnels for instance.
The voice acting is give or take. Leo and Don are good. Raph and Mike are awkward. Splinter doesn't feel right at all. But random thugs always sound better in Japan to me. I'm sure they're actually acting just as corny as they were in the original version but to me it seems a bit less cheezy. Though the show as a whole is still plenty cheezy even when you can't understand the dialogue.
And one thing that really cracked me up was when the Eastman officer said they left the money instead of saying something more akin to "rookie" all I heard the Laird officer say was "baka" which means stupid.
Well, just finished watching the first episode in Japanese and I have to say that I don't like Splinter's voice at all. It's too deep. Same with Raph. Although it's the Japanese equivelent to Raph's voice in English, it just doesn't sound right. Oh well. Mike sounded alright to me, even though it sounds a bit...whiney? I don't know... But Leo and Don were pretty much perfect in my eyes. Definately sounded good to me *nods happily* As for Oroku Saki...again, a bit to deep for my liking, but still good. I prefer the English version where he has this death whisper while he is saying "I know you won't fail me again", but that's just me.
The one thing that really got at me was Mike's "WACHOO! YEYA!" cries when he was using his nunchuku. It kinda sounded like something from a fighting game or something. Ah well...
As for the ending song, I liked it. Not as much as the opening, but it's still good. "Yeah, yeah, yeah! Gonna let me best way!" Very upbeat. I like it :D
EDIT
I managed to type out the ending lyrics to near perfection. I couldn't see some characters clearly in the subtitles, but hopefully this might prove useful in the future when we want to translate it...
"Nagisa ni kokorahira keba

The opening is pretty catchy, kind of like how I felt like when I listened to the second opening of Fullmetal Alchemist. It took me awhile to get used to it though. Onto the voice acting. I must admit though, it felt sort of funny at first, but I got used to it pretty quickly
Leonardo: Pretty good for the most part. Since I've only seen the first episode in Japanese, I'll need to watch further episodes to pass any real criticisms or praises. I still like it for the most part.
Raphael: Too deep and grumbly for my tastes. I'm sure many would agree with me on this. He sounds a bit like some hulking, menacing villain from some martial arts anime in my opinion, but that may change when or if I get used to it.
Donatello: My boyfriend calls this favoritism, and he may be right, but I definitely liked Donnie's voice the best. I'm supposing it's because months ago, I was discussing TMNT dubs with another friend , the Old Toon Japanese dub in particular. I said if the 2K3 cartoon was dubbed into Japanese, I'd want Yuuji Ueda to voice Donatello, just cause.
Michelangelo: I liked Mikey's voice as well, though I agree with Ra that it did sound a bit whiny. But the noises he made when twirling his nunchucks and beating up bad guys made me grin, it was just plain adorable in my opinion.
Splinter: Sorry, it just didn't catch on with me. I feel it will be alot like when I had to get used to Mako playing Splinter in the 2007 movie (Sorry for the analogy, but that's how I feel about it.)
Oroku Saki/Shredder: You've got to admit, he at least sounds evil and threatening. Maybe they'll give him a scary metallic voice when he's wearing the Shredder armor. That'd be sweet.

I watched this on youtube in japanese. I loved it! the actors do their parts very well. I love Raphael's voice, it is almost exactly as I thought it would sound in my head if it was dubbed into japanese. ANd I think the actor is well on target with Raphael's character and makes him sound edgy.
I loved the scene where Raphael finds the man hole and then has to hide when the truck comes and rolls over the it. I got a grin on my face when Raphael sees that the Truck's wheel was covering the man hole and lets out a heart felt Kuso!! (which means sh*t in japanese). That little expletive just seemed so appropiate at that moment and something the "real" Raphael would say.
And then later on when he charges out of the truck and starts beating up Mikey for provoking him, I kept hearing him say "kono yuro" at Mikey. Sweet :D :D I thought Raphael's voice was great.
I loved Donatello's voice the best, it was just so perfect. I also liked Leonardo's voice as well, I just thought it fit him so perfectly. I. Do. Not. Like. Mikey's. Voice!! UGH, his acting is alright but the voice it self just sounds so high and whinney, why does Michaelangelo always get gyped in the voice department when it comes to dubs?
Splinter's voice was alright but I think I need to used to him first.

Splinter: Sorry, it just didn't catch on with me. I feel it will be alot like when I had to get used to Mako playing Splinter in the 2007 movie (Sorry for the analogy, but that's how I feel about it.)
I actually had an easier time accepting Mako for Splinter, and liked him, than I am with the VA for this Japanese dub of the cartoon. The voice is not sitting right with me for some reason.
The others are well on target, and I especially like Leo's VA. ^^ Even Mikey's voice actually sounds cute in some scenes.
I had fun the past hour with watching all this. I think it's totally cool that I'm hearing them actually speak Japanese.

Yet you know as soon as it gets back on the air over here (Reruns, new eps, whatever) There will be even more people going "ZOMG 4KIDS RUINED TEH DUB OF TEH TURDLES".

Oh, yes, there will be no doubt about that. On one hand you can't blame the poor people for being so blink and confused. 4Kids has taken quite a few anime shows and has not dubbed them "properly", thus making the show...go a bit sour? *shrugs* But then we come back to the fact that the new TMNT cartoon as been around ever since 2003. It's amazing to know that some people don't know that. *sighs*
And yes, I did read that. Those kinds of people only use the internet to expand their limited vocabulary and use it to give their opinion on things. I loved your response, though. Pure ownage, right there

Ahahahaha! *dies* Because you know it's going to happen. I was trying to figure out how it could be possible for people to be THAT out of the loop not to notice the 2003 cartoon... perhaps people who only watch anime but grew up with the American 1987 cartoon?
Either way, I'm quite enjoying watching this Japanese dub. ^^ Raph takes some getting used to since he seems to have a traditional deep badguy voice (I think that's the deepest Raph voice I've ever heard), as does Mikey because his voice actor is kinda annoying, but over all it's an excellent job.

Take one look at stuff they USED to animate for imported United States series before praising that tripe of an opener.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jjud8cVRFsk
As for the opener...totally misses the point of why the title sequence ended with a sample of the real theme song just to smear their own crap on it. Change the entire musical background of the series if you're going to betray the fundimental rythm, they do this with EVERY show they import, lazy twats. Audiences won't care over there, there accustomed to it, but god is it jarring.

Jounetsu no Kaze (http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=CRCP-10170) (the cd comes with a paper insert, which is meant to be thrown away, featuring the band with Ninja Turtles masks on - I'll be keeping that 8) ) This CD also has the music video on it. No karaoke version, though. :ohwell:
Summer Fighter (http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=CRCP-10171) (link features the cover art, which is all TMNT)

Both CDs are only singles, not full CDs. But in the tradition of singles in Japan, each one features an additional song by the artist, which has nothing to do with TMNT.
I would guess an actual TMNT CD would not be likely. The only way they could do that is if they released it with a buttload of BGM. I think the show would have to be veryvery popular for that to happen. But hey, you never know.

The TMNT doumei (union of fans in Japan) http://www.geocities.jp/tmntdoumei/ has grown to over 100 members, many with websites featuring fanart. There is even a community of fans that are going to meet a second time and have a little TMNT get-together. My friend (whose artwork is the bg of that doumei site) has been to one and says that they talk about their favorite characters and "moe" (I won't go into that...) and then go to a Karaoke bar where they sing the "Jounetsu No Kaze" theme and draw fanart together. XD From what I am told, most of the active fanbase is female. I also hear talk about doujinshi. Maybe being printed this winter or next spring. I can't wait!

I'm wondering if I'm the only one who understands japanese here.
For the most part, I have been enjoying the japanese dub for the series. There's been some minor problems I have, being some of the casting on a couple of the turtles, as well as April's voice actor. April's voice, in my honest opinion, can come off too old sounding. Also, the acting of her character, sometimes comes off a bit dry... However, she does seem to pull off the comediac aspect of April well enough.
As for the scripting itself, it seems to be alright. It's been awhile since I saw the episodes in english, so I can't comment on how much the dub was changed from the english version. Though, there's on distinct absent, is the episode credits at the beginning of the episode. I'd assume they got a clean master, since the episode title is actually placed here.
Something else that did bug me about the dub, was Takara seems rather confused on what to do with this aspect in the series. In the japanese version, after episode 1, the characters have their name appear in Katakana when they first appear in the episode, but this is really inconsistant. Some episodes, they don't do this at all, while others, they do it for every major character.
The opening and endings, however... I do like them a whole lots better than the english version. Though, the english version doesn't exactly have an ending theme, so I suppose Japan has that advantage. Probably why I like the japanese openings better, is probably because Takara hired actual bands to perform the music for the series, rather than give it an inhouse song. Not to mention, it was a relief always hearing a TMNT song about the show itself, and the lack of "turtles". (Even the TMNT OVA was guilty of this..)
Currently, Japan is on Episode 17 (I think..), just for people who want an update on how far they are...

Nah, you're not alone.
I don't live in Japan, so I've only been able to watch episode 1 in Japanese as it was posted on You Tube some time ago (and subsequently removed). I haven't been able to see any of the other episodes, unfortunately, so I can't chime in on how the series is progressing in Japanese.
I believe I already posted my opinion on the Japanese dub and script a few pages, back.

Wait...they use katatana even for Japanese characters, or do those get proper Kanji (assuming their names have Kanji, anyway--if not, Hiragana)? Or have they just not added captions for Oroku Saki or Hamato Yoshi?
Probably why I like the japanese openings better, is probably because Takara hired actual bands to perform the music for the series, rather than give it an inhouse song. Wait, so the OPs were created specifically for the show--they weren't pre-existing songs?
Currently, Japan is on Episode 17 (I think..), just for people who want an update on how far they are...Yeah, if my calculations are correct and the show has aired every week, episode 17, The Shredder Strikes Back, pt. 1, should air next Monday. It'd be interesting to know the reactions to that. Season 2, by the way, should begin airing on October 1. By the way, can you tell me if the episode titles are changed? I got the impression that they'd at least changed Things Change, but since I really don't understand the language, I can't make sure.
You know, there is one specific moment whose translation I'd like to see: the moment when Gen calls Casey "Saru". I mean, Casey can't misunderstand Japanese if that's what he speaks, and Gen can't say "monkey" in any other language because he's specifically Japanese.

I don't think they got captioned. I'll double check when I get a chance...

Pretty much, they're made for the show. It's not common for a band to create a song for a show in Japan. It helps promote their band and their singles as well. PowerPuff Girls also had songs made specifically for the show when it aired in Japan on TV-Tokyo, though restricted to the opening/ending mainly, in the case of TMNT as well. Still... I wonder what Takara's going to do with the in episode songs...

Japan usually gets all American movies later than just about everybody else. Often times as late as a year after the rest of the world. Why this is, I dunno.
There are some exceptions, of course. They were actually the first country to receive Spider-Man 3 (even got it before the US), but that might have more to do with the film being released by Sony.

I do like when Japan made its own openings and closings to TV shows, especially the theme to the 1970's Filmation Batman (dispite the multiple broken english puns). Some shows in the US have had unique end themes, different from the opening, but they are too few to Count (Ren and Stimpy, and Doug, I think... and Heathcliff had the same music, but animation during end titles).
We unfortunately never get that anymore, due to the obsession with trying to bookend ads for TV shows at the end instead of proper credit sequences.

I saw the 2 openings, I gotta say, I LOVE the first opening the most. The way the theme spliced scenes of the original theme visuals, lips from the show and stock art was awesome. And the song is just so damn catchy! Almost made me wish the show was an anime, but it kinda already is.
I mean, despite the fact the show has no actual blood or perverted old guys trying to steal April's panties, the show still has several anime elements in the sense that it IS an ongoing story and the characters change and evolve, as well as having that flashing background or still shots during fight scenes some times.
...and the American voice cast was mostly people who dubbed anime, and they made no apology for not talking down to kids (which is a million times more common in Japan) though it has its moments (like the first half of Fast Forward)...

There many animes that don't talk down to kids, look at Full Metal Alchemist. Anyway the biggest irony here is 4kids takes anime and removes all violence and Japanese content and then they make TMNT.

Hey do they use honorifics in the dub? It seems like it might fit some of the characters. The Turtles calling Splinter sensei all the time makes sense. Leo seems the type to use honorifics, Mikey and Don may depending on the situation, Raph depending on his mood. Splinter likewise would be likely to use honorifics. April as American woman may not use Japanese honorifics and Casey seems to be too crude to use them.
On the villain side: Hun would likely refer to Shredder as sensei or sama. Baxter seems too arrogant to use honorifics and Shredder may use them depending on whether he liked the person (calling Hun san, while not using an honorific with Baxter.) I heard in the old series Krang called Shredder Sawaki-chan (Sawaki is his civilian name in Japan). Chan is used to address people you are very familiar with, which adds the belief that Krang and Shredder were an old married couple. Is Shredder called Oroku Sawaki in the dub?

There many animes that don't talk down to kids, look at Full Metal Alchemist. Anyway the biggest irony here is 4kids takes anime and removes all violence and Japanese content and then they make TMNT.
Except Full Metal Alchemist isn't aimed at kids. That's like saying HBO's Spawn doesn't talk down to kids.
Try suffering through one episode of a Japanese-written Transformers cartoon. Then you'll know what is meant by "talking down to kids".

In this case, Krang uses the -chan suffix in a mocking way to insult Shredder.

Yes, in the original cartoon at least. Hamato Yoshi was also renamed to Takeshi Yoshihama.

Yes, in the original cartoon at least. Hamato Yoshi was also renamed to Takeshi Yoshihama.
But is he still called Sawaki in the dub for the new show? I would assume so, because Sawaki is more Japanese then Saki.

Only name I felt was odd was that Oroku Sancho guy in one of the old toon episodes (Legend of Koji). Sounds more Mexican than Japanese to me.

I guess it isn't because that's why they renamed him Sawaki in Japan. I don't think they would rename him for kicks and I think they would know more about Japanese names then us.
I always figured it was because it was a lil kids' show and they thought 'Saki' sounded too much like an alcoholic beverage...

But they have booze in kids shows all the time in Japan. I heard there was an episode of Sailor Moon where she gets drunk, so I don't think that's the issue.

Does anyone know why the show has two different opening and closing themes if they are still only in the first season? And what is the English name of the second closing theme?
I'm glad to hear the Japanese are enjoying TMNT so much. Keep those updates coming people!
It seems they plan on switching themes every 13 episodes. All American sites seem to be calling JP OP2 "Natsu No Owari GA Mada Koko Ni Aru". But, if you want to know what it translates to, I think the least awkward translation is approximately "Summer is gone, but I'm still here". This song actually seems like it would be the theme for a Latin-American soap opera. Seriously, if I didn't know already, I'd never guess that it was Japanese.

Thanks Gobo.
I wonder where this "summer" theme is coming from for the end titles? Because songs about summer and the beach don't strike me as TMNT related right off the bat. Is there some symbolic significance I'm missing - the "summer" of youth, the struggle to be ordinary teens vs. being forced to live in the shadows? They're nice songs though. I like Summer is Gone over Summer Fighter I think (well the way they did the clips they put with the song anyway, the picture album was a neat way to do it.)

Got some possibly bad news. Amazon.co.jp, as well as CdJapan.co.jp, have pulled their listings for the first three volumes of TMNT 2003 DVDs. I'm not exactly sure WHY they were pulled, but that can't be a good thing. (Either that, or I'm not using the write Kana for the series...)
To anyone here who ordered the said dvds, could you by chance see if the orders themself were also canceled? I'm particularly curious what's going on...
I noticed the same thing on Amazon a week ago. I'm sure they're just being delayed. I can only hope they plan on redesigning them rather than just making the same eight-volumes-per-season mistake America already did. And, I certainly wouldn't mind if some music videos made their way to the DVDs. :D I'm still itching to see the SUMMER FIGHTER video (of which they have a clip on the top page of their site (http://www.kyotokamogawa.com/top.php)). @_@

Well, looks like the R2 DVDs for TMNT have been cancelled. Not sure what this means, but it's entirely possible they may just release the series in Boxsets, rather than individual DVDs. But we'll wait and see...
At anyrate, I updated the front post with some information, such as ep. 25 and 26 titles. And I want to apologize once again for me not uploading any clips... Just I seriously haven't had any time to do so...

Ok, the third opening and ending have been uploaded. Check the first page for download links.
I.... really don't how you guys are going to like this. The opening is rap. The opening is however, highly catchy and addicting, strangely enough.
Also, there's some MINOR new animation in the opening. Not much, but... It's pretty much limited to the logo segment.
The ending song I REALLY like. The new animation here is much more minimal, but it goes through a montage of action shots and some other minor scenes from season 2 (I think) in picture frames. The song is also a really nice touch as well. Also an improvement over the second ending song.
(Song information are on the first page, as well, incase you need it...)

Wow, that third opening isn't just bad, it's *really* bad. The Japanese openings have been getting progressively worse, I've noticed.
The third closing has a much better song; I kinda wish it had been the opening. The closing photo bits are almost disgustingly sappy, but I guess they wanted to focus on the family aspect of the Turtles.
Anyhow, as always, thanks a lot for posting these. Definately appreciate it.

I have to disagree - I really like the new opening!! Yeah, it's a HUGE departure from the previous ones, and it's kinda hard to see how it fits with what you're seeing, but I really dig it for what it is.

I will agree as well. It's not bad, but hardly in a class with the first one. Pretty catchy little combo of Japanese and English that isn't Engrish (that first ending sounded like an instruction sheet to a "Some assembly required" product from Taiwan).
The end theme's pretty good,. I like it better than the first and second one.

but thoes actors r r r r good,Tetsuya Kakihara,his voice possesses more protentials than i think,but if u ask me,i'd vote for Midorikawa Hikaru...
Eiji Miyashita...not very familiar...i reeeeeaaaally hope Nakai Kazu san'd play raph!dude!
and Anri Katsu...seems not enough to me either,i expect much from Yamaguchi Kappei, who's famous for palying that kinda teens,u kno.:)

Well I didn't find an mp3 or single disc to download, but I did find a music video. Here's the whole song if you want to give it a listen.
http://paulo0069.multiply.com/video/item/11
Downloaded the new OP and ED as soon as they were posted, but I just got around to watching them yesterday.
I have to say I really dislike the OP. It sounds more like Latino Reggaton that rap. While I don't think it's necessarily a bad song, it's certainly not for me. If anyone can find enjoyment in this song, I congratulate them. But, I somehow doubt that many fans of this show would be pleased as it entirely misses the essence of the program in question. Plus, this is the worst choice to make the OP out of everything on their single (http://www.crownrecord.co.jp/artist/turtles4/whats.html).
The ED, however, pretty much rocks. I could just see the Turtles listening to this as they excercise. Kinda funky... It really should have been the OP. Though, something tells me "Everybody" got that spot just because the quartet decided to go with a Turtles-themed name for the group. It's sad enough that both bands are brand new this time...
BTW, for anyone after the singles, both the OP and ED will be released on November 21st. That's a first for the series to have a simultaneous theme release. But, even after killing a handful of hours searching the Japanese web for the ED by name, catalog number, or artist name, it seems that no one who knows anything about the project is ready to give details. :(
is it possible to get an audio rip from that 3rd opening????
I just updated my 2K3 Around The World thread with MP3 downloads. Since the TV versions of the Japanese themes aren't available for sale, there shouldn't be any infringement issues there. Best case scenario, you listen to it so long that you get curious enough to buy the CD. ^_^

I'm sure there are people on this board somewhere with MP3s of the Japanese music, but you have to request PMs.
On this board we are forbidden from discussing downloads because posting MP3s of Japanese music would bankrupt Mirage, Playmates, 4Kids Entertainment, Funimation, DongWoo Animation, Murakami-Wolf-Swenson, Lions Gate Entertainment, TakaraTomy, Archie Comics and destroy the Ninja Turtle franchise as we know it.
It's a good thing we have vigilant troopers, constantly on the prowl for such nefarious links, or even requests of such links, lest the Ninja Turtles franchise crash into ruin.

I'll be sure to send Laird a cut of the 10cents I make every year. :)
Still, we're both doing precisely the same thing. Only difference is, when I post a complete comic online for fans to see, I don't simultaneously go around wagging my finger at people who do the same thing under the guise of "doing the right thing". You're no crusader for Mirage's financial well-being, so you really ought to drop that facade and stop berrating anybody who asks for so much as an MP3 of a Japanese single. I would love as much as a PM about these as MP3s. But those are the only TMNT things I want to download, as I have no way to pay to import the CDs. with anything else, I try to buy them. In fact, I'm currently trying to find the soundtracks to the first 3 movies, even though it would likely be much easier to download them. I mean, I've been tempted to download episodes of the recent series, since the individual DVDs are kinda expensive. but i'm just gonna wait for them to release more sets. But CDs that I can't buy in a US store is a bit harder for me.

No one connected to the franchise makes any money from the first three movie OSTs anymore. However, if you hadn't noticed, the third OP and ED tracks won't even be available in Japan until the 21st of this month. You can get the minute-and-a-half TV edit from my 2K3 Around The World thread (http://forums.thetechnodrome.com/showthread.php?t=21094), but that's the closest you can get to an instant gratification.
Sorry to double-post, but this is worth mentioning. I believe reruns are largely an American concept. As far as I can tell, they don't don't rerun any anime (or any programs at all?). If a show runs out of episodes, they air something else.

Ok. Next episode won't air until January 7th. So we won't get to see the new ending song until then. I did, however, enjoy the next episode preview for Monday's episode. "Next Time, City War Part 1, MERRY CHRISTMAS~!"
There is no new information about the next opening song, so it'll be more than likely, we'll be stuck with this opening until episode 52, unless information changes between now and January 7th.

Guys, just confirming something. Opening 3 is likely to last until episode 52. TV-Tokyo's site indicates the Episode 40, "Everybody", will air as the opening. So, no new opening...

. . .That's... Odd. A little update. The Japanese swapped Episode 35 and 36 around. I just noticed it while I was translating the episode titles. Still working on it, but still, odd...

Okay. That actually took longer than I expected. The fourth ending song is now uploaded, so check the first post. Sorry about that!
At anyrate, I actually really like the new ending song, maybe not as much as the third one, but it's certainly up there. The only thing I'm a little disapointed in is the usage of clips for this ending. While the comic strips were a nice touch, the way the other clips were used (not all of them, but some) didn't feel right to me. But that's me...
I assume the opening song is the same, but is the opening animation?
BTW, I'm psyched that ED4 should be the first DVD-quality PV (music video) I'll be able to own. ^_^ Yay!!

Yeah, pretty much the same. Kind of disapointed in that, really... There was a minor update a couple episodes after it initially aired, (I think episode 30) but it wasn't really drastic enough to mention. Basically just additional clips during the logo segment.

Ok, I'm giving this a bump, because I just found out some additional information.
TMNT 2003 is going to be replaced by Soul Eater (new anime) come April 7th. I'm a little bit confused, given the footage during the opening sequence contains Episode 53+ material. So is TMNT 2003 going to get a timeslot change or is it just going to end at episode 52 in Japan? Hm...

Okay guys, some very bad news. I can offically confirm that Episode 52 WILL be the very last episode to air in Japan.
1. TV-Tokyo listed episode 52 as the very last episode, as well as one of the Japanese TV Guides.
2. Episode 52 had just aired, and it had no next episode preview. (Soul Eater preview, instead aired...)
3. You know the very last scene in episode 52? It was removed and cut out. Instead, we were featured with a montage of scenes from the original intro, episode footage, and some of the japanese animated footage. It had the turtles, splinter, and along with April and Casey Jones commenting about the show, how it's over, and how they thank the audiance for watching it through the year.
The turtles also signed off with their catch phrase.
So there you have it. The Japanese broadcast ends at Battle Nexus.

WOW that's very sad, if they ended the show that way here I'd be really sad.
And I was holding on to hope that they were just taking a breather for a while. :( That sounds like they have no intention of ever showing the rest under any circumstances.

I want to be disappointed... I want to cry... I want to go on a rant about how anal Japanese TV programmers are....
But the irony here is just too delicious. I mean, a 4Kids show airing in Ja-pan getting cancelled halfway through due to low ratings and (probably) bad marketting.... If it wasn't such a hillarious irony, it would be a tragidy. Sorry about that.
I guess this means, if the show still has Japanese fans, they're going to continue the highly illegal practice of buying up all the American DVDs in import and watching them on their own players. Which is actually killing anime over there. Their DVD prices are astronomical.
But then again, that's exactly how many episodes they gave Tiny Toon Adventures, and that was pretty big over there. Why, Buster and Babs even did their own commercials (http://youtube.com/watch?v=QWREoJyfphg) over there. For a real travisty, Animaniacs only aired 13 episodes in Japanese.
So basically, it didn't do too great, but it wasn't a failure either. it could have easily ended at 13 episodes. Though I want to point out, they freakin' have clips of the Planet Racers episode in the "Everybody" opening. That really has to hurt.

What's wierd, is that the ratings weren't too bad. If anything, the show did better did than previous show in the timeslot, which was Bakegyamon. The episodes would have also been cheaper to do, since they only really required to be dubbed (Plus, some minor localization). Not to mention, there obviously was a plan to air 53+, given the fact the intro contained footage of these episodes. To be also honest, I wouldn't doubt it if they did dub the later episodes, but decided not to air it.
Also, you have to keep in mind, that the companies have to buy the slot in order to air the show in Japan. The company also gets sponsers to continue to air the show in the timeslot, which TMNT still had a couple, even at the point where it was at. There were more sponsers at the beginning of the show, but they still had some big companies sponsering it. The only time have I EVER, and I mean, EVER seen a network pull a show before it was complete, was TV-Tokyo when they were airing Spider Riders. The show was a rating disaster. TV-Tokyo had scheduled to air 52 episodes of the series, and they halted the series airing at episode 26, and pulled it and put another show on the air.
There of course is still the chance that TMNT 2003 will eventually return to Japan, but not anytime soon. Although, the band that formed in order to produce the song, they apparently have a couple songs in the works. There is a chance, that TMNT may move to a new network, and probably a TV-Tokyo sister channel. But we'll have to wait and see.
Speaking of which, I know this is off topic, but TMNT1987 is going to reair in Japan on Toon Disney's Jetix. It hasn't been announced which dub will air though. (I highly doubt it'll be the Idol Turtles dub, but there's a chance it could be either the TV-Tokyo or TV Asahi/Video dub...)

I guess the Japanese don't know good cartoons when they see them (which would explain 90% of their output over the past 7 years).
Still, the fact that an American cartoon managed to appear on TV Tokyo at all is somewhat impressive. They seem to relagate all dubbed American animation to satellite networks like Cartoon Network Japan or Nickelodeon Japan.
I suppose there just wasn't enough card battling, panty shots, meandering go-nowhere plots and "BURNING JUSTICE MUST SUCCEED" dialogue to appeal to a Japanese audience.
Their loss entirely.

You know, it could have also have had something to do with the fallout of the lack of a theatrical release in Japan for the TMNT movie. Selling related merchandise is a huge part of a successful anime series in Japan - When the TMNT movie didn't get released to theaters a lot of licensees were left AWOL with product that was supposed to come out in support of it. The movie and the cartoon may be two different things, but they are all part of the overall TMNT brand. Keeping the show on the air wasn't benefiting anyone.

This might explain why the Japanese R2 release for TMNT 2003 got pulled, as well. They were pushing a product, but because of the fallout, some plans had changed. And honestly, I had not kept up with the movie in Japan, whether or not it was shown in theatres so I was unaware.
Regardless, this would explain why the TV series was pulled. As I said before though, I wouldn't be surprised if Shopro had further episodes dubbed, but unreleased. The opening is also a real indication they had planned on going on further. Maybe if Kids Station or something reairs the series, we may see these episodes, though...
Speaking of the movie though. From what information was available, the Japanese dub of the TMNT movie, did retain the same japanese TV cast, which as far as I am aware on the English version, it did not. (Actually, I've heard all international dubs of the movie apparently had the TV cast, as well, so...)

But as was stated, the ratings actually weren't too bad. Quite a few of their home brewed stuff as of late seen far less episodes than this. There's something going on with Japanese TV stations I don't fully understand, but there's something not quite right. I'd say this is more a licensee problem than anything else. But that's just putting the pieces together without the box art.

So, yestorday morning (or evening in Japan), I was up to watch the new show that replaced TMNT 2003. Want to see what replaced it...?
http://youtube.com/watch?v=ZgP44QmKD5U&fmt=18
That's the opening to Soul Eater, an anime which replaced, as japan calls it, Mutant Turtles. It's made by Bones and adapted from a manga in Square Enix's Gan Gan Comics.
Dare I say it, but it's hell of a lot better than TMNT 2003. By far.;; (PS. That opening was done by a single animator. Compare that to the single/two animators that did the opening and ending "japanese" footage on the TMNT 2003 Op/Ed ^^'')
At anyrate, I'm going to actually create this topic an all purpose information about the Japanese dub. Now that the dub is over, I can start working on a full set of information, and make notes (such as character changes, or any important plot changes) that were made tot he dub. I'll also try and finally make a colleciton of clips I have been promising you guys for a long time now. They're coming, I promise!

Actually, that does look pretty wickedly awesome... And, I did always cringe at the incorporation of the fugly old DVD cliparts in the Miyutanto Tatoruzu OPs and EDs.

Guys, I just found out as to why Opening 3 had used footage of episode 53+. Recently, one of the singers commented on the TMNT 2003 Op 3 video I had uploaded, Jamil, and mentioned the following:
Actually, it was the creators idea for a rap opening. We offered to sing the whole thing, they asked for rap.
Interesting, really. So it explains why they got a rap song for the later episodes, and it also explained why there was footage of episode 53+, since the song was going to last for quite some time. It also seems like the group had planned on doing additional songs for the series as well, based on that comment.
So yeah, now we know why Japan got a Rap opening. :lol:;;
The creators? As in Peter Laird & 4Kids or TV-Tokyo? Plus, I'm not following as to how this suggests that they were planning to dub 53+... :-?

He wasn't specific. I could probably ask though.
Well, the fact they had included footage from 53+, suggusts that they had planned on dubbing further episodes. The way he worded, it suggusted that they would work for the rest of the series, doing the songs, either opening or ending. So who knows. :ohwell:

Yeah, they likely were planning on airing season 3, since the third opening uses footage exclusively from Space Invaders Part 1 to Exodus Part 2.

Umm, by "Space Invaders Part 1 to Exodus Part 2", I meant all of season 3.
Though, specifically, there was clips from all three parts of Space Invaders, all three parts of Worlds Collide, H.A.T.E., Mission of Gravity, Across the Universe, and Exodus Part 2.

Hello,
I'm new here, and I would like to ask if someone has those openings on the computer, could he uplaod them ro RapidShare, or anywhere else, please? Becuase the links are not working anymore. Only endings, I have the openings already, too bad I didn't download endings as well back than. DX
I want to listen to the endings, and do the karaoke, as well! So, the RAW is my top priority, hopefully, somebody still has it.
Thank you very much.

I'm undoubtedly in the minority here, but this ending sounds pretty good. No suffering through the terrible FF or Season 4. Stop when the series is actually still good and relatively interesting.
