Just thought you guys may want to know: I ordered the 3 new collected books from panel to panel, the newer 2 with bookplates. I got this e-mail regarding tales vol 1.
Hello all,
Thanks so much for shopping Panel to Panel, and purchasing copies of our exclusive TMNT bookplate editions. As you all know, we had sold out of the first bookplate for TALES OF THE TMNT VOLUME 1 months ago; but that didn’t stop you from purchasing a copy of the unsigned edition, and for that I thank you. But I have great news. Panel to Panel and Mirage Studios are going back to press on a bookplate for TALES VOLUME 1, and your orders will be filled with the new signed bookplate (at no extra charge)!!! This second edition bookplate has an all new image of Donatello created by Peter Laird, and will be signed by the crew at Mirage Studios.
The books should be ready to ship next week. Thanks so much for your patience, and thanks again for your business.
Sincerely,
John Rovnak

Dude, I just got that very same message this morning! I ordered Vol. 1 & 2 and the Michael Zulli book just two days ago. This is a sweet bonus, but it's a shame that the books won't be shipped until next week now. :(

i cant tell if they are holding all my books, or just volume 1. Only time will tell.

Yeah, it wasn't very clear in the message, but I'd imagine they would ship them all together to save on shipping costs.

you may want to wait for one of us to scan the image. Could end up being the same one you have, some of the wording in that e-mail is a bit vauge.

I am new to the comics, and tempted to buy, but before I plunk down $40, what exactly do these comics cover? What are they really about? Can anyone fill in a noob here. Thanks!
From what I gather in the reviews, they are by new artists (not Eastman & Laird) and cover Donatello 's travels, Leo's blindness, and the third I really have no idea.
Edit: Does this answer my question?
But enough on that. The news isn't Puma Blues or this old hash -- the news is Michael's classic TMNT stories are at last collected in book form, complete beneath a stunning new cover by Michael himself. PaneltoPanel.net is offering a special edition with a tipped-in bookplate, featuring a portrait of Master Splinter, created exclusively and signed by Zulli; the book is scheduled to ship within the next two weeks, and can be pre-ordered here!
And don't dawdle, if you're a Zulli or TMNT fan (or, best of all worlds, both!); the special bookplate edition of Tales of the TMNT: The Collected Books Volume 1 sold out and is no longer in reach, save for pricey online auctions (though the book itself sans bookplate, is still available here).
However, copies with the awesome Jim Lawson bookplate for Tales of the TMNT: The Collected Books Volume 2 are still available here, while supply lasts.
Michael's Soul's Winter is a real highlight of the truly mutant years of TMNT, when many guest artists offered their own unique takes on the Turtles. None were more unique than Michael's, who extrapolated an alternate TMNT universe as if Akira Kurosawa had 'directed' the ultimate TMNT film: turtles that looked like and behaved like reptiles, sheltered by a Master Splinter of true rodent origins, facing not only the mystical powers of an implacable foe (Shredder), but a confrontation with death incarnate on another realm of reality.
Rendered in Michael's exquisite fine-line pen, brush and ink (on duo-shade), and anticipating his future work with Neil Gaiman on Sandman and other projects, Soul's Winter is among the loveliest of all the TMNT Mirage experiments, and the most memorable. This is a book well worth owning and revisiting -- more on the book, and Zulli's work, in future posts... but don't wait for my sorry ass, visit Michael's own eye-popping website right this minute!

So what are you looking to buy? The three TPBs on the Panel to Panel site?
Tales of the TMNT Vol. 1 collects Donatello-centric stories from the Tales of the TMNT volume 2 series. These are all a good read.
Tales of the TMNT Vol. 2 collects five Leonardo stories (Tales of the TMNT Vol. 2 #5 + the four-part mini-series Blindsight). Not my favorite story, but it was actually a lot better than I was expecting.
Soul's Winter collects the three Michael Zulli stories from the original TMNT volume 1 series plus (I think) three short stories. This really is a must have, IMO. It's basically an alternate universe story, but a reallyreally good one. And the short stories are quite satisfying (and the original books they were published in can be hard to find, so this is an easy way to collect 'em).
All of the money I've spent at Panel to Panel has been well worth it!

I'm not sure if you'll get the email or not, but you should get the bookplate (I don't think it's a bookend...). They're not shipping until next week, so I really doubt they've sold out already.

I'm not sure. The only thing I've gotten so far is my receipt too. I'm guessing they won't ship until later this week due to the new bookplate so if we don't hear anything by Thursday or Friday then I'll start to wonder a bit more.

I just sent them an email asking if I would receive the new bookplate and when the orders will be shipped out. I'll let you know as soon as I find out.

When Panel to Panel ships your item they will not only email you but give you the shipping code so you can check the UPS site to see where exactly your item is! I love Panel to Panel and have gotten Books 1 and 2 from em. I haven't ordered the Zullie book but I probably will.
I believe the next book in the Tales of The TMNT section will be out in June with the TPB of the comic book adaption of the new movie out in July.

Panel to Panel just replied to my email and informed me I will be getting the bookplate, and it will be different from the original.
P2P said they would be shipping at the end of the week and would provide us with a detailed tracking number.

There was probably a minor delay with the bookplates. Hopefully, they'll ship them out in the next couple of days.

Seems I was right... Here's a response I got.
My question:
I'm just curious on the status of the books I ordered two weeks ago. The message below says that they should have shipped sometime last week, but I still haven't gotten any notice yet. Was there a delay on the bookplates or something? I appreciate any information you can give me.
The response:
Sorry,
The Volume One bookplates are in Mirage Studios hands as I type this. I think with all the movie hype, their plates are full; but they promise to have them to me within a week.
I apologize for the inconvenience.
It seems we'll have to wait yet another week for our books. :(

They should really give us a bonus or some free shipping, this is really bad business.

Well, I guess, but the bookplate really is the bonus. We weren't going to be getting that at all. It's just unfortunate that we have to wait so much longer for it.

that's hardly the stores fault as usual Mirage is late because they have to much on their plate.

Another update:
Hello,
So sorry for the wait on this order, but I have received word today that the new bookplates for TALES OF THE TMNT VOLUME 1 were being signed this morning by TMNT creator Peter Laird. Mirage Studios promised me that they would be in the mail to me this afternoon; so I imagine I’ll have all orders for this book and any other TMNT bookplate editions shipped to you by Monday at the latest.
I sincerely apologize for your patience and understanding. I promise it’ll be worth the wait.
Thanks again,
John Rovnak

P2P was nice enough to send me Volume 2 and Soul's Winter since they had it all ready and said they would send out Volume 1 when they get it in.
I got them in the mail a few days ago, and I'll have to say, they were well worth the $$$ / wait. The autographs are really nice.

Are you serious? They haven't sent me anything yet, and I ordered all three at the same time three weeks ago. If college wasn't keeping me so busy I'd be kinda ticked by now. Now after all this time if all I get in the mail is Volume 1 without the other two books.... :x

I special requested this. I was ticked too, so I asked them what they could do. This was thier solution.

Received Volume One, and the autograph is great. A nice picture of Raph with red sharpie signatures and a nice TMNT head drawn on as well. great stuff! Well worth the wait and the money.

I just got all three in the mail yesterday. I haven't payed a lot of attention to the bookplate that came with Volume 1 yet, but... wasn't it Don and not Raph? I'll check again when I get home, but I could have sworn Don was the turtle on the bookplate. In any case, I've only had time to read Zulli's book and the first issue in Volume 1. They're really good so far, and I can't wait to read the rest.

I can do it sometime this weekend as long as that's not against the rules or anything....
In any case, it's a cool picture, and it's not the same as the first one shown here (http://www.paneltopanel.net/imagecatalogue/imageview/1906708/).
Also, mine was only signed by Laird; it didn't have the other names on it.

People have posted pics of bookplates before, and it didn't cause any problems. This is an aggressive pose of Don on the new bookplate (for anyone who wants to know).
