Does anybody think Agent Bishop, from the TMNT cartoon show, should be brought into the current TMNT title. (Whenever that series starts back up again.)

With the heavy influence of aliens and sci-fi, I think Bishop would make an easy fit.

This has been how I've been imaging it, how they could possibly bring him into the series:

Like the introduction of the Battle Nexus Tornument, the character shouldn't be done exactly the same as in the series. I'm sort of thinking of him being a deposed ex-agent of the government. Previously working in the shadows to protect the world from aliens, suddenly the Utrom-Friendly government sees Bishop as expendable.

So, what if Bishop was embraced by fellow Xenophobic people - like the Xeric Originization?

I know Bishop was inspired from the Matrix movies, but the character definately became something more than just a Matrix-rip off. He proved so good he was even able to take the place of the Shredder as the Turtle's main foil.

Does anybody like that idea? Any other ideas?

Adding Bishop would be one of the best things they could do.

I agree but I'm sure there are allot of people who wouldnt.

I think it would work, but I really don't want the comic book to have anything in common with the 2k3 cartoon. It should be its own entity. I haven't read the issues where Leo goes to the Battle Nexus yet (those issues should come in the mail in a week or two), but I'm kinda disappointed he brought that into the series. It'll be okay as long as he takes it in a different direction than the cartoon.

I like your idea, though, about him taking over the Xeric Organization (for some reason I thought it was Xihad, not Xeric, but again, I haven't read past issue 12 yet). I'd like to see it be someone else, though. It could still be someone from the government, but give him a different name and a different personality.

I dunno, those are just my thoughts.

Well, I'm a little biased since I hate Bishop with a passion. The coolest thing about him, I thought, was his origin (as well as Rat King's being linked to his). Other than that, he's one of those characters I wished never existed.

I'd certainly be curious to see how they'd do Bishop. I just love the fact that he's such a menacing bad guy. I always thought he was a kind of natural adversary to the TMNT because of his somewhat sadistic mad-scientist-who-likes-to-vivisect-non-human-sentient-beings tendency... I think he sort of embodies the turtles' worst nightmares about getting discovered by the wrong people, getting exposed and then studied and being treated like expensive lab rats. Even if he doesn't attack them, we know that he is not above dealing with the turtles inhumanely.

I may pick up a TMNT issue with Bishop... if his character doesn't get butchered and if they can get some decent artwork for the regular comics that isn't so caught up in its own style it detracts and distracts. In the end though, an interesting, engaging story and strong characters are what matter most -- and sadly, I just haven't managed to get a hold of any new TMNT comics that actually "draw me in" to the world of TMNT. :(
