Today's New Fast Forward Episode "Enter the Jammerhead" Discussion

I thought I'd start a discussion for this episode. Like it or Loath it TMNT are still on the air So I figure it should be discussed.
"Enter the Jammerhead"
Synopsis:

Jammerhead busts his way out of prison, looking to even the score with his Turtle Nemeses. Thanks to a newly developed chip, he can download fighter footage and instantly mimic the moves. He tracks down and confronts the Turtles during a visit from Starlee’s alien family. Now the Turtles have to protect Starlee’s family and figure out how to ‘beat’ the new and improved Jammerhead, who (thanks to his new technology) can fight like the world’s greatest chop-socky masters.

Even I think this sounds a bit silly :roll: but I guess we will just have to wait and see in a few hours.

Jammerhead episodes tend to be hit or miss, and this was more toward the latter. I keep thinking Jammerhead would be a character better suited for the original cartoon than this show.

Starlee is a cute character but her family was grating. If we can get more of her without them it'll be nice.

Well, Let's see where to begin...this episode fell flat on it's face to me.
I liked how it started though it's kinda cool to see TMNT villains be put in jail we've never seen that before besides once with Shredder in the Archie series.
My enthusiasm of Jammerhead downloading those fighting styles was about the same as the Street Phantoms which was less then excited.
I just can't buy that even with them being in the future.
This episode feels so much like an episode of the 80's toon to me it's not even funny.
It's official I really hate Jammerhead.
Starlee's family seems so much like a rip off of the palerasoids.
The sad thing is I think her Mom was one of the best things about the episode.
I did enjoy seeing Starlee finally do her thing though we haven't seen much of that or her for that matter.
Her little brother was annoying as all hell but he did come in handy.
I will say it's also really nice to see Splinter being himself again.
I mean what this is the first time we've actually seen him take someone on in a long time.
I liked the ending as well with Jammerhead back in jail and those guys beating him up it's sort of a throw back to the 2k3 series. We haven't seen an ending like that in a long time.
This episode was pretty bad though especially after what we had last week it left me wanting more and I was highly disappointed.
It was just waaaaaay to silly.
Oh well can't like em' all.

It's refreshing to know I wasn't the only one thinking old toon with all the Jammerhead stuff.
He actully reminds me of the Cronos King of the clock tower from one of the worst episodes of the Red sky series "Split Second".

This episode feels so much like an episode of the 80's toon to me it's not even funny.

After watching the entire Season 4 boxset, I agree. These kind of plots would be better suited for that show than this.

Looks like Bishop is back next week so it'll be something to look forward to.

Yeah I'm sure allot of people would dissagree but to me that's really what they're trying to turn this show into. And your right the Body Jacker episode was great and allot of fun. This one was junk. I'd rather hit Jammerhead than miss him though hahaha:lol:
Actully that was just clips from previous episode. But Yeah I hope we get more of Bishop as well as Torbin Zixx and finally learn a bit more about him.

:sigh: Okay I'm not a fan of Jammerhead at all, so this week's ep was gonna be particularly hard to swallow, but I did watch...

The Goods:
Starlee's family was appropriately annoying, I guess.

The prisoner's uniforms were... stylish :lol: ;)

Jammerhead did bust some nice moves.

Starlee and Cody were useful (especially Starlee)

We got to see Splinter fight. It's been awhile...

The Gripes:

Why didn't Don (or any of them) smack Jammerhead while he was downloading his next move? Several perfect opportunities wasted...

Is Starlee's head gonna get that big when she gets older? I feel a little bad for her...

A few lame lines (mostly said by Jammerhead).



Overall, a subpar episode. Not nearly as good as the ones for the last two weeks...

While the fights were good, this episode really sucked. It was dumb how the turtles kept naming all those goofy fight moves, and starlees brother little dracula was annoying. This was a big let down, seeing as the 2 previous episodes have been excellent.

Yeah it also came off as very teen titans to me (her brother).
I'd also like to make a note Holy turtle comercials this morning batman!
EDIT: One more thing I'd like to bring up after looking at the official site this show sure has allot of different writers that could possibly have to do with some episodes being better than others.
Also the Art style in this one got to me more than any other for some reason Splinters new face look bothers me more than anything I think.

These aliens reminded me of the polarisoids and the antarians (sp?) put together from the old show. The mom was the most annoying thing and I cringed watching most of this episode...but I did watch it all, so it wasn't unwatchable. However, I think it's the worst FF ep yet...
I kind of wish Splinter would have kicked Jammerhead's butt instead of Starlee and the kid doing it. Oh well, Splinter will get his day...

Agreed this was probably one of the worst episodes this season. Which is saying alot since a large portion of Fast Forward has been bad.

Was nice to see Splinter fight and fight well rather then run off to watch his soaps but that was really about it.

You may be right..I don't remember that one very well. I just don't remember feeling this much dislike after an episode before. The funny thing is, there was still no "it's ninja time" this week.

On a side note, I love this commercial for the TMNT movie video game they keep playing.

I liked this episode. It was the best Jammerhead episode so far.

The Turtles seemed more in character as some would put it. Mikey getting slapped, Leo naming ninja moves, and Splinter actually fighting better then the Turtles. They all seemed in character.

Next weeks episode should be good. Any episode with the best TMNT villian is always going to be good (Bishop.)

This ep was lame. The episode would have been better had they left out the crappy Starlee subplot. It was nice to see Splinter fight. The Kung Fu crap was retarded. I missed the beginning only started watching during the theme song, but I believe this is the third episode in a row that they didn't say... IT'S NINJA TIME!!!

Still, I liked the fights a little. This episode really wouldn't have been so bad if they made it into a completely mindless action ep. If only our future would also get rid of Kung Fu movies, then there's hope for humanity.

It's official... Starlee is Mira from Buzz Lightyear... only her parents are Jewish stereotypes instead of upperclass WASP stereotypes. The one thing I like about Starlee? She doesn't appear too often.

Anyway, decent episode. And I agree, the plot lines seem like they would be better suited to the old series. And I also agree that the Wrestling one was terrible... though Gamenator is still my least favorite.

Lessse..... Dragon Ball Kamehameha wave refference, Refference to Snagglepuss, Obligatory Star Wars line.... basically alright...

I'm guessing Cody really doesn't want Starlee to turn out like her mother. That's about all I can say.

These one shots are just so "Blah." I am looking forward to the next episode ONLY if Bishop is in it.

This episode was totally a drag and quite frankly a waste of my time. The idea was good, having Jammerhead download all the martial arts techniques and such, but when it all played out it just seemed too goofy for my liking. Plus Starlee's family just annoyed the crap out of me (I know they were supposed to since they are like that).
The one bright spot for me was when the guys were fighting Jammerhead and told Splinter to go back and keep Starlee's family occupied...Splinter made the comment "hurry, if not for your sake for mine"..or something like that..I thought that was funny.

I hope next week is better, the preview of it looked more entertaining than today's entire episode was.

The episode was crap for the most part for the aforementioned reasons, but for some reason I found this from Starlee's mom to be absolutely hilarious:

I thought this epsiode was all right -- it felt kinda average...:ohwell: It was interesting to see Starlee again and what her family thought of Earth. I didn't mind Jammerhead's appearence seeing as he performed cool karate moves that reminded me of Bruce Lee.

I liked the fight scene with the Turtles and Jammerhead and how Jammerhead made a fool of himself towards the end...:lol: Anyhow, I'm giving this episode three Jammerhead fighting moves out of five. Hopefully next week's ep will be better.

Am I alone in liking this episode? yeah it did feel like a OT episode, but I loved the 80's show...so it doesn't bother me much. I also liked that line from Starlee's mom. "Did you join a cult?" had me rolling. I also liked Splinter going toe-to-toe with Jammerhead. Thought I'm not a big fan of the character, this seemed to be a good way to show he's not just some filler villain. Serling was actually funny and no "It's Ninja Time!" so I've gotta give this episode a 3.5 outta a possible 5.

lol did u see the commercial before it that said "....now with 3x the slapstick comedy"? lol that pretty much explains that they are goin for comedy now and not much of anything else, it was alright, but not as good as the past few weeks like the pretty much everyone else said

Jester, you're not alone. I stated on page 1 I liked this episode. I didn't get a old toon vibe from it, but that's not a bad thing. I love the old toon, but this did have a lot of comedy and some good action in the episode.

Even if any episode of FF feels like an old toon episode to me, then that's fine.

On a different note, I was rewatching Insane in the Membrane and it reminded me of how cheesy the 2k3 episodes could be. Mikey saying Doctor Stockmanstein, yea that's just a joke ready to fall flat. One of the things I hate about this Turtle series is the comedy cannot compare to the comedy of the old toon and falls flat altogether, well except for a dude hitting a parked car on his bike in Samurai Tourist. The old toons comedy most wouldn't get until they were older, and being older it makes much more sense, which makes the show age well.

Sorry, but I can't disagree with you more. The old toon comedy, for me, wasn't funny then for the most part... and it's about unbearable now. The 2K3 series had it's moments of being 'too silly'... but think about it. You're saying the 2K3 stuff falls short, but it's (in essence) just like the OT. You remember the OT as being funny because you were a kid, and it's your memories that make it age well. Maybe the jokes in 2K3 are just as funny (they're infinitely funnier, but I'm speaking hypothetically) as OT, but because you are now an adult, you can't find them funny.

...Anyhow, all that to say... Differing opinions, my friend. I think the 2K3 (before this inhumane FF) was quite good (though I would have preferred a tad less childish jokes...) great even.

Now we're regressing.

You know I find it funny when anything that has the slightest hint of character development is called filler.

Well they did show his anatomy today didn't look fully human to me in that scan his head looks mostly robotic.

You gave it a 3.5 out of 5 but you say you like it...to me liking an episode is 4 or 5 out of 5.

Splinter is back to normal as of this episode I think unless you count that happening in "graduation day".

The Start of the episode is good and so is the end. We haven't seen an ending that was done that way since early on in the 2k3 series.

While the old Toon is great and admittedly very funny I don't think humor really has much of a place in the 2k3 Toon.
And I really don't see what you're saying about Insane In the Membrane one of my favorite episodes btw it also gave so much Depth to Baxter.

I don't know Jo I really found Mikey just as annoying with his lame jokes in 2k3 just as much as I do in FF He's my least favorite character from the turtles return in 2003.
Also I agree to a point but I do find it funny when Krang, Shredder or anyone else for that matter would make a joke about it actually being a show as well as Raphael's constant cornball jokes but I guess you sort of have to be a cornball yourself to get that.
I do get tired of everyone comparing and contrasting so much though I mean sure I've done it with this episode today myself.
But All of the turtles things we've ever gotten are sooooo different from one another I don't even see how anyone could compare one show to another.
Same goes for all of the comic books.
While not all of these things we've been given have been great I think it's awesome that we've had so many different incarnations of the TMNT over the years to pick and choose from.
BTW there are plenty of jokes on the Old Toon that went over my head as a kid that really make me laugh now as an adult.

Nope, I can still laugh at the jokes more than the crappy ones in the new series, and that's NOT due to it being the first series, memories, loyalty, etc, it just IS funnier than the new series.

I agree I actually find the Old Toon allot more funny now than I did as a kid I don't ever remember laughing once as a kid I was just into how action packed the show was and the theme music that played got my friends and I so excited as kids.
And it's Pretty much the same excuse being used for this show believe it to be rubbish if you want that's fine and all but I don't really think it's right to do so until the series has ended or at least gets past the first 2 seasons.
I mean you thought I was saying things just for the sake of saying them and to be difficult. As you can see with today's episode I don't like everything but I still like to give a decent look at everything.
Giving the good and bad sadly this episode was more bad than anything else.

My Bad I wasn't talking about 2k3 and FF I was talking about how everyone says how good The Batman Got when it down right sucked at first pretty much how FF did and or does in some peoples opinions.
I'm sure thats true But there have been other episodes I liked quite a bit but I guess it's simply because they did things I wanted to see happen for a long time even if they had been exicuted poorly.

I had no resonating complaints with this one. I'm glad to know that they've trimmed back the million and one minor annoyances. I also thought this ep would fit right in with the classic 'toon. It was great for if you really just had no motivation to do something more involved... like moving around. ^_^ I didn't dislike it, and I didn't love it. It was just decent, but still better than plenty other >> eps.

Good points:
- Jammerhead in Riker's
- Glaxxor: "I need to go to the little boy's room. I have to make a number four." (for shame... making an Extra Value Meal in the loo... ^_^ )
- Splinter: "As you wish my son. But, hurry... for my sake if not yours."
- Splinter kicking butt (the rat is back! ^_^ )

Bad points:
- Starlee's mom's voice
- Glaxxor to Cody: "if you're not the boyfriend, you look an awful lot like the guy she says is her boyfriend" (couldn't be more obvious; the heir to O'Neil Tech has an obsessed fan-girl :roll: )
- Starlee's mom: "I take it your insured, Mister Jones, and that your friend has had his shots." (if ever there was a better excuse to hear "It's ninja time!"... :evil:

I'd give it a 3 of 5 for not giving me reasons to cringe on a regular basis.

And why didn't they ever notice the tracking device on Don's butt???

Nope.
I think the only part I really liked was Master Splinter fighting him he says something along the lines of Jammerhead fighting a true Master...I was like oh yeah!! for a few moments I was happy and then Jammerhead knocked Splinter away and again I was sad for the episode...
One martial arts master against the skills of many... Realistically, Splinter should have had more trouble trying to hold his own. Splinter isn't supposed to be the greatest the world has ever known, nor is Ninjutsu supposed to trump Kung-Pao or Plutonian Thumb-Wrestling. Splinter showing Jammerhead that the skills are hardly worthwhile without the discipline to use them would have been nice, but that's too much to expect from >>.

The next new ep should be "Milk Run", and that is next week with Bishop and Zixx. This hologram 'joke' (term used very loosely) wasn't insulting enough the first time, they have to beat us senseless with it some more? The only thing good about that plan is that I should appreciate >> that much more when I'm senseless. :roll:

^^ I see your point but Jammerhead was a cheater and Master Splinter doesn't cheat! He is still very experienced and I am sure while yes Jammerhead knows all sorts of different styles Splinter could still be the wiser one in the battle...

Yeah, 4kidsTV has "Bishop to Knight" playing on their Video on Demand on the site and I compared it with the preview clip and it is indeed from that episode, particularly the Raph kicking Bishop scene.

So they're not going to repeat Raph attacking holograms, at least not with those scenes anyway.

Guess I'm doing this review a bit late but -

Somewhat interesting premise ruined by a bum ending. I've noticed this in several FF eps - set up for a cool fight, only to be let down by the lame resolution.

I hate Jammerhead, but after seeing the way he took out Donatello he seemed like a credible threat for a short while. When he actually recorded Don's moves and used them against him, I thought, now that's a neat idea. But we don't see Jammerhead repeat this trick at all against the other TMNT or Splinter, very disapointing. I was hoping that the solution to this episode would be Splinter bringing down Jammerhead or doing something similar to the weapon switch from What a Croc but neither of those happened. Butt-kicking seems to have given way to lame humor in this case for an ending.

And is it just me or is Starlee a redundant character. We have Don who's a genius (and never even got a chance to be the one to figure out a technical solution in this ep), we have Cody the annoying genius great grandkid of April, and now we have Starlee the token female genius. I don't hate Starlee, I just think she has no useful purpose. And what's with her family being Jewish?

One good thing I can say about this ep, kung fu movies do rock! And it was cool to see ALL of the Turtles and not just Mike think so. Even Splinter joined in watching, even if they are (gasp) fake.:) It was also refreshing to see them all playing video games as a family and as well as keeping up with their studies. It looks like Mikey's lesson from the graduation day ep may be sticking after all. I did enjoy the family bonding time at the beginning of this ep, it reminded me of the downtime when they watched the western in the Ultimate Ninja ep.

The "roots and wings" comment was also sweet.
