I’ve never had the chance to read the comic book series that TMNT is based of and from what my friends tell me it’s very dark, and that they had to butcher parts of it to make it more children friendly for the cartoons. April oneal job seems to continually change with every reincarnation of the turtles franchise I always see her as the channel 6 news reporter from the early cartoons, I would like to know what job she was given in the comic books that spawned the TMNT?

She started out as Baxter Stockmans Lab Assistant.
She then went on to Run the family's old Second Time around store.
But after that she never really had a job come to think of it.
It's been a really long time she needs to get back to work! lol

Well, at the end of City at War she bought the apartment building Casey's mom owned, so she became a landlord.

Government assistance is obviously too good in the universe that she belongs too lol. Does this mean that in some ways the new cartoon series is more accurate? Though I have missed a lot of episodes I remember that Baxter has flashbacks about April as his lab assistant when he is going crazy after his new body starts deteriorating.

Ah yes I forgot about that! I think mostly because it didn't come off as a big deal to me and was sort of boring lol.

Yes it's very close the the Mirage Storyline.

I can't remember what issue number but the story is called the Unmentionables, and in it April is a waitress.

Issue #14. And while it does depict April with a job, I don't know many single moms that can put food on a table for two with a waitress' salary, let alone provide for a family of 7.

Well we could assume that Casey had some kind of job. Though he did seem to have a lot of free time on his hands during that issue.

Guys! It's simple.

Casey is on disability for blowing out his knee in hockey. He had it replaced with a cybernetic implant but the government is still supporting him. As for April, she is living off the royatlies from her latest book:
Women are from Venus, Turltes are from stinking place below us.

She's a computer programmer. Even says so in the Palladium RPG (she has a master's degree in computer science).

Except in Volume 2, when she's a landlord.

April has had many jobs:

1st job: Worked for Baxter
2nd job: 2nd Time Around Store
3rd Job: When they were living in Northampton she was a reporter for like one full issue (issue 32) in which she went to Egypt to do a report on a dig.
4th job: Computer company
5th job: Farmer (the farm DID have animals and stuff at one point)
6th job: Landlady

Technically, her 1st and 4th jobs are the same thing. Computer programmer.

As for the "reporter" thing, I would attribute that to creative license on the part of some of the writers. :D
