Please re-watch Season 1 and 2, then watch FF.
You will realize it's the exact same crap as FF except the animation style is different. That's all you guys care about. So stop bashing FF, it's not only annoying but you never have any good points.
Nano was annoying he's an FF status villain. So is Garbageman. You want filler episodes there's plenty, like the Golden Puck or any of those stupid ass baby turtle stories.
And you think the dialog is bad in FF? They may say Ninja Time in FF but they don't ever say anything as bad as "Maximum grind-a-tude!!!!!" That whole sports scene in "Darkness At The Edge Of Town" or whatever it was called is horrid. They toss around radical more then they did in the old toon.
So yeah, stop being nay sayers because 2K3 has it's fair share of crap in it too.

Yeah that whole, "going for grind-a-tude", while annoying, was also a one time thing. Thats not the case with "It's Ninja Time". And I only count one use of radical.
And Nano and Gaberge Man only showed up once in that season, they were used sparringly.
Also, the Golden Puck was season 2 genius.

I agree with you in some aspects, (the dialouge and jokes of this show have NEVER been that good), but the reason people like the old seasons more is because its the TMNT universe.
Naturally people are going to like Shredder, the Foot, the present time, etc. over the future filled with aliens. Its just how the TMNT universe was created. And the art style is a no-brainer.
One thing I don't understand is how people can bash Splinter for being out of character when he wants to watch soap operas in FF, (which to my knowledge was only said in like 1 or 2 episodes), yet in the new movie he says almost the same thing about wanting to watch his "shows" which is a soap opera and nobody had a problem with it. (that I've seen).
To be honest the only time I noticed the guys being out of character in FF was when Raph yelled "Cowabunga" in the wrestling episode. Now THAT was unforgivable and complete crap. I can't believe nobody caught that before the ep was produced. Other than that, I fail to see a difference in the guys otherwise.

Likewise I think it mostly has to do with people just being angry that 2k3 is gone and may never come back...honestly it had a good run and I'm fine with that it's time to move on and stop being so depressed and angry.
And I find it funny how it's not ok for the show to be set in the future but it's ok for Peter Laird to do that and allot of other things that this show is doing as well as the old toon..but hey both are lame...people really seem to forget Peter has a huge hand in all of this.

I don't only mean season 1, I said re-watch season 1, because it has the most examples of how the 2K3 series isn't as kosher as you all make it out to be. I don't know anywhere in there I said I was only talking about it season 1.

Well the TMNT being stuck in the future for the rest of the series DOES suck to be honest. I don't mind FF as a season arc or anything but I sure do want them back in the present.
Its really hard to imagine how they'll end this season since we know more FF eps are being produced yet they already made two eps showcasing the past and the fact that the Turtles are almost able to return home...

I'd also like to bring up another point people go on tangents about.
The turtles and Splinter being to happy.
Uh yeah hello they're freaking happy because they just saved the entire world from millions of demonic monsters, a dominc shredder, pleased their masters, and befriended many of there own enimies.
I'd be pretty damn happy running around a future with aliens where I fit in and can relax and have some fun also.
Seriously theres a reason for everything all it takes is a bit of Positive thinking.

I think my post above this makes allot of things pretty clear.
And honetly I hope they don't do that to often it would really annoy me them getting the chance to go home and then not take it because they have to stop some one or save some one.

I agree I think it should be touched upon as well.
I think they should also be a bit worried if anything is going on in the past but if it really does they could just go back in the same time they left to mend things.

Trust me I'm far from an FF fan. The sow isn't perfect but honestly not half as bad as some people make it out to be.
I liked "Bad Blood" but it also made me mad because it felt like untapped potential.
I liked "Obsolete" not so much the episode as a whole but the Gunjin are some cool new characters.
"The Freaks Come Out at Night..." Another episode I saw potential in and knew if they hadn't toned the show down would have been pretty wicked.
"Night of Sh’Okanabo!" And yet again an episode I saw a dark side too. A common theme in FF with me.
See FF has tons of episodes I can totally see were ment to be darker then they were but the tone down had them changed. FF is as 2K3 as anything else down at the core, they were just forced to coat it over with a little Disney.

^ All those eps you mentioned have interesting characters. I noticed something about FF that was just off but I could never put my finger on it. Sure the animation is different but that's so obvious. FF has the elements (characters and sometimes plot) to be a good series if they could just turn down the lights and up the darkness.
I also really enjoyed watching timing is everything. It was a nice feel good episode. I specifically liked how they portrayed the turtles as much improved fighters. Season one of 2k3 they had much trouble fighting shredder and in this ep, we get to see that they have in fact become more skilled. Shredder even notices this.

To compare FF with the first 2k3 season is nothing short of absurd. Sure the first season had some painful moments, very painfull ones... But what I can say about the first season of FF is that it did had some good moments, some very good ones.
It took me some time to actually like the 2k3 series, and I'll agree with ya that some of the dialogue was stupid. But I see FF like a big pie thrown at our faces, like '' this is what you have now, live with it... '' We're all of a sudden missing alot of the characters we all loved, and they were replaced by annoying ones that you really need to get used to. Cody and Serling are just those kind of characters you hate cuz they suck. I'll never like them, I'll try all of my life but they will always get on my nerves. I gave FF 5 episodes to hook me up just like I did with the first 2k3 season, FF failed miserably. I recently watched some more episodes, and although I enjoyed them, it was still too cliche and childish to my taste.
I'm gonna watch the whole thing, but I'll never really like it I'm afraid. I did saw some hope in some episodes, Bad blood and The Journal were ok eps as well as Timing is everything and Freaks come out at night. Now these were good. Cody was still annoying as hell, but the rest of the episodes made up for that.
Its always intersting to have new opinions about a subject such as this one. We might have some new opinions and interesting points brought in this thread, but the ''haters'' and the ''lovers'' are better just accept each other's opinions. As we saw how easy it is to have flames. Lets just stay smart in all of this.

But i really, truly love the Raph/Mikey relationship kept intact in the Fast Forward incarnation. And yes that goes far with me lol.
I mean one of the damn funniest things i've seen in any incarnation of the turtles was in Fast Forward. The one where Mikey actually makes a damn ventriloquist (hope i spelled that right) doll version of Raphael, and keeps it with him throughout the whole episode. It was his personal buddy lol. And being that the Raph/Mikey buddy-cop relationship is my fave part of the whole thing, seeing that brought a huge smile to my face. Pure gold lol.

Well I'm not that aware of all the FF bashing that occured. It sure had his share of hate, but I thaught that most of us just got over it like I did. Guess I was wrong.
Its a desesperate attempt at saving a show from a big bad shark, and its really feeling desesperate sometimes. I got over most things, and was able to watch some more episodes. But it still wasn't enough really.
The fourth season of the 2k3 series was doing good without a shredder. I wasn't missing him too much, some great episodes and villains plus one outstanding story (if you like leo that is...) did the job just fine. Something FF is far from achieving. Sh’Okanabo is interesting, but he still lack the screen presence The Shredder had. Know what I mean ? As for the four evil turtles, its about as close we're ever gonna get from having slash on a new tmnt show. They're ok, but not that great either.
Anyway, If things keep this way, more people might be able to come in without fearing a flame war. Some nice discussions about FF is sure always welcomed.

FF is getting better and better in my opinion.
The animation in 2K3 is still superior, tho'.
I at first thought FF wasn't all that great, but it grew on me. I was too busy feeling the way everyone else was, instead of being myself. Once I was myself, I thought, "hey this show isn't half bad." While most of the jokes in FF fall flat, I have laughed more in FF then I did in 2k3, and this is coming from a person who knows the humor always falls flat in the 2k3/FF series.
Maximum Grind-A-Tude was dumb, very dumb, and kiddish imo.
So was Mikey saying, "Doctor Stocmanstein." Good way to hurt a very dark and cool episode.
Shoot, if I rewatch any of the seasons I can pick out on more then ten fingers, some of the crappiest lines I've heard in television.
However, I do agree with spitfire that I think a lot of people complain due to the change in animation style. No more fights with Touch and Go that seemed sped up, and I won't lie, I miss it, but it no longer makes me not enjoy FF, when really FF is the same, but with only some dead humans.
Both are good in the action department. Hearing mikey say in FF, "The futures so bright I gotta wear shades," is humor that hits and references the eighties. Better then him calling Stockman, Stockmanstein.

I like Fast Forward. At first I didn't want to watch it because I heard people say how terrible it was. But when I did get around to watching it, I didn't think it was half bad. Serling I personaly think is hilarious. His sarcastic nature makes me laugh, the way talks about the turtles. He's one of my favorite FF characters.
The villains aren't that bad, none of them are like the Shredder though. Viral, Sh'kanabo, and Jammerhead are cool. Cody I do find a little annoying, he is very enthusiastic, which annoys me.
And Starling? Why do people hate her? I don't thinks she's bad either. I can sort of realate to her in the sense of strange parents. She reminds me of Jauna, I think it's the blue skin.
The robot cop however I want to throw in a junk yard. He really grinds my nerves. But then so did the Garbageman.
I think the fight scenes are good. Their quick and they have really good moves, that much you can't change. Their weapons are beyond awesome. But too bad they couldn't keep their tribunal weapons.
And you also get to see things you wouldn't ordanarly see. Like the turtles in tuxes. XD How often have you seent that in 2k3? And Mikey acted just as I would have imagined him to if he was exposed to a camara.
Master Splinter doesn't fight as often, but it's still the beginning. I also noticed that he is quite a bit shorter then before. But he is the same none the less.
To dislike FF just because of it's animation, which I have no qurral with, is sort of narrow minded. It can be light but still be a good show.
I have to conclude this, my mom wants me. Bye!

Im kinda stuck on this at the mo, Some of the episodes have been crap, but its getting better now that long term story lines of some sort is starting to emerge.
I would like to see an apperance of the future turtles, I mean how long do Turtles live? that would be cool. Just to see how different and grown up they are.
Yeah there are a few things that annoy the hell out of me though. "Ninja time" especially, plus a few continuity errors. Cody and Sterling probably annoy me the most.
Todays ep was good though. "The freaks come out at night" there was a few times I was like "WTF, kids watch this!" (It was the black vomit that did it, I was practically boiking myself) And ninjitsu_magic_47 is right, the villans are cool. But none of them really measure up to the Shredder.

I'm just sick of people assuming I support the show because I defend it. I'm defending it because I'm sick of seeing people whine about how bad it is. Since it came out that's all I ever see on here. It's nice to see not everyone hates it, but constant whining annoys me. And a topic addressing it might help that a little. If it doesn't then sorry I failed. But at least I'll try.
And the complaints aren't different for each episode their always the same
"Ninja Time sucks"
"Serling sucks"
"Cody sucks"
"Splinter doesn't act like Splinter"
"Mikey is annoying"
"2K3 is better"
"Animation sucks"
"TLS is better"
Every episode it's the same complaints. No one ever says anything different yet as much as they hate it supposedly they tune in every week and then come here and post the same thing they posted last week. If they said something different then I wouldn't care but it's never different.

Like I said if it back fires then I'm sorry. But it's so bad people who do like can't even say they do without getting flamed for it. I just want to put a stop to that if I can.
I agree with you that the week-in and week-out complaints get old, but people aren't gonna see this thread and be like, oh crap, shut up

Like I said maybe not, but it was worth a try. At least here the discussion is more civilized, despite the rather mean title*I really couldn't think of a better one*

That's a good one, but only mods can change titles otherwise I would.
Oh and in response to your earlier post just check some of the FF topics and you will see the flaming I'm talking about.

I don't really understand many of the arguments here.
I watched a few episodes of FF, and I thought I would really like it....but for some reason I didn't have a desire to watch it. And it's not because of change, I'm willing to accept the fact that 2k3 is in the past. I just watched this and it...felt different. So I'm not a great critic of tv shows and movies. I know what I like, even though I can't explain it. And I can't explain what I don't like about FF. I also can't explain what I like better about 2k3. I just know that for 2k3, I was into the episodes, and I couldn't wait for the next weeks episode. I would wake up early on saturday, for my only day to sleep in, just to watch it. Then, when FF came on, I don't even put it on even if I'm awake.
I guess I'm not really a FF basher, so this thread doesn't really apply to me. But there are definetly reasons to hate on it. I will disagree that the dialogue is bad in 2k3, or that the fillers are just as bad. Golden Puck was one of my favorite episodes. I just enjoy watching it. None of FF episodes do this for me, and a lot of other people feel the same way. So don't bash on the bashers.

Perhaps what Spit's really trying to say is that he's afraid the crtitics are trying to flatline FF and end all support of the series as it stands presentsly, therefore preventing a return to the quality we were reaching through any and all means. Perfectly reasonable, but the way he's went around the problem has'nt been reasonable.
I don't post in any episode discussion threads, I barely talk about FF, I don't even like "The Journal" or "Timing Is Everything", there worse than episodes of Super Mario World for christ's sake, there overrated purely because they deal with the characters of the last few seasons, but there both as bad as much of FF has been.

I gotta agree with you there. I saw that Shredder fight scene in Timing, they had right idea, but too bad the excecution was horrid. Not to mention the animation just took every bit of flavor our of what could have been a cool fight.
Zarius, if you say that FF is badly written, TMNT 2k3 technically is as well. I've seen cartoons written way better then 2k3. I say this purely due to whoever creates the humor for the 2k3/FF series. There is a fair share of stank on some of the 2k3 episodes. There will always be good episodes of 2k3, and good episodes of FF. However, there will always be craptastic episodes of 2k3, and FF as well...

I disagree. Saying that 2k3 has just as bad writing as FF just because there are a few cheesy lines in 2k3 isn't really right. Sure, there were a few cheesy lines written in 2k3, I don't think anybody would deny that. But I think there is more of it in FF.
And the stupid one-liners aren't even what makes the FF writing bad. It's everything combined. The stories, the rest of the dialogue, the character developing, etc...."It's Ninja time!" or "Maximum grind-a-tude!" do not automatically make the writing bad.

Using the "some of the new series is just as crap as FF" is'nt an excuse. FF is CONSISTENTLY S*ITE to the critics, the previous seasons were not.

04-12-2007, 11:46 PM
Well we all know that. Of course there are cartoons better written than 2K3(JLU, Batman TAS, Gargoyles, Avatar, Samurai Jack), and yes, the humor in 2K3 fell flat...alot, just like in FF.
But the humor isn't the only real issue.

Uh no, it doesn't matter what we say it won't affect the series one way or another*If that were the case FF would have never happened to begin with because we all asked for less Sci-Fi* I was simply trying to cool down the FF flaming so people who did like the show could come forward without getting mauled. If you don't partake in the mauling them I wouldn't worry about it because your not being addressed.

Argument aside, it cant be that crap if I'm getitng up every morning at 9:20 to watch it.
3 hours before I usually get up.
After that, I'm not reading anymore of this thread. If you have a problem with people bashing >> without valid reasoning, skip their posts. hahah that's a pretty good point haha I usually end up falling asleep cause I'm hung over from being at the bar all night.
It's so hard to sit through all these shows thats are even worse than Fast Forward...god if it ever got as bad as viva pinata I'd shoot the tv like a fat old Elvis.
Yea when I said there were better written shows then 2k3, I was thinking of the Justice League cartoons. I had all sets on DVD and when I got season 2 of JLU I sat and watched them all, and thought, damn this is one tight ass cartoon.
Very well written.
Me saying 2k3 and FF are the same, I really mean that some episodes of 2k3 ranked sour cheese, so do some episodes of FF. The comedy was crappy in 2k3, and it's slightly better in FF. Only one episode of 2k3 got me to laugh hard, and that was in Samurai Tourist, where a dude hit a parked car on his bike. Comedy like that will go further, then most of Mikeys one liners. In FF I have laughed quite a bit, but still not as much as I could if the comedy was placed right. One standout line by Mikey I remember well in FF, was the futures so bright I gotta wear shades line. It came out of nowhere, while being monitored by Bishop. I love 80's references, and plus it fit well. Again though, most of the comedy in 2k3, and FF is horrible, and the old toon murders this show in terms of comedy. Slapstick humor is always better in my book. When you hear lines like, "uh oh if we don't hurry this will turn into a two part episode," yea that just works well, and spoofs itself.
EDIT: Might as well throw this in. The action in 2K3/FF murders the old toon. Old toon = better comedy, new toon = better action.

My take on FF, I don't hate it. Sure, its not the greatest thing, but its watchable.
My guess is they toned it down to get more kids hooked on Ninja Turtles so they could have a bigger fan base. Comparing the new series to the original series, the new series is a lot more violent and darker and a rating of PG7, or whatever. So they toned it down in the hopes of snagging a younger audience.
Anybody who watches the original series knows how campy and cheesy it can be sometimes (but that's what I find so endearing about it!). So watching FF isn't that painful for me. So maybe I am a fan that will watch anything as long as its Turtles (eh, with an exception of Next Mutation, I can't bring myself that low), but as long as they keep spitting them out, I'll watch them.
Unless, of course, it doesn't come out on DVD *sighs*. All my experience with this particular series has been via DVD. Which is nice when you can fast forward through theme songs and don't have to worry about commercial breaks.
I caught like three episodes of Ninja Tribunal via Comcast On Demand. Grr. . .
Ok, I'm veering off topic, will shut up now.
Holy crap! I sound like iris here, don't I?

I thought the reason FF gets bashed is that it's too childish and lame for fans of 2k3..at least that's how I feel. Fans of 2k3 liked the fact that it was a darker show and not ridiculous and corny like the 1987 show. It stayed more true to the comic books(with some changes made of course). When FF aired I didn't like it either because the lines became even more corny(ninja time) and I still feel it should be canceled. But we are all entitled to our own beliefs. Most people that bash FF are fans of 2k3 and became VERY ATTACHED so I don't blame them.
OH I feel that this should be added too: FF also got bashed because Season Five was pulled in favor of "this light-hearted show"...I think most people didn't appreciate 4kids replacing the lost season with this. I certainly did not.

FF very much reflects the same way I feel about the new Batman series, its like a mockery to me, its like a rip-off series. These shows just don't follow through and represent their universe to me. Especially with the great representations and series we had prior. Its like a downward spiral, from my perspective, when you go from what we had to this. Too big of a jump, from one extreme to another.

"The Batman" is a great cartoon. I'm not a hardcore Batman fan, but I go out of my way to watch Batman movies and read comics. "The Batman" has some of the best animation on TV today, and its just all around fun, There isn't really an on-going story, but I tune in every Saturday.

I am glad somebody finally said it.
Actually, I can think of several other times the main characters seemed... off... but I won't comment since I haven't seen most of the season. FF has its good points.

Me, I hate what sucks, and I like what's awesome. I don't care if it's FF or 2k3. If it's a good episode in FF, then I like it, if it's a bad episode of 2k3, then I hate it and vis versa. I don't hate or like it just cause it's FF or 2k3, I judge it simply by how much I enjoyed the episode.
Of course, in the long run, 2k3 does have more good episodes than FF so far.

FF isn't bad, not as good as what they had going, I agree to an extent about the Garbage man and Nano, also I got annoyed with that Raph and Lone Cub episode. But for the most part the 2k3 series is awesome and got better, the Golden Puck was based off of The Unmentionables (I think that was the right name its been a while) I believe from TMNT vol 1 which I always like seeing those based on the comics.
FF is pretty much the same its just more kid friendly more like some of the more light hearted episodes. Though I think having Cody in there is kind of like that Sonic X series (didnt watch much of it) but the whole Robot thing and what not seems like its there just to be cool and help the turtles who generally can take care of them selves. With only a few things that are annoying like that some villains etc its still the TMNT and enjoyable. Its also better than not having a show at all. I am still hoping for a return to regular time and perhaps at least one season of that...

I did like 2k3 better and I gave FF a chance, but it didn't really grab my attention with its storylines and character development. Now, just because it didn't tickle my fancy, I don't go out into the world and outwardly expressing my dislike for it ...over and over again. That DOES get annoying.
